At $100,000 the Ford dash shook so bad thought it was gonna fall into Mr. Truck lap. I also notice no wheel well liners Ford at $100,000 and limited trim this truck should have everything plus a sink and fridge
Mr. Truck and Andre always a great duo! “You’ve complained a lot over the past 10 years” Andrea goes back “you have to” lol awesome videos, look forward to every Saturday morning.
I live in Western Norway and am surrounded by fjords, lakes, glaciers and other beautiful landscape, but I have to say that watching the footage from Colorado really blows me away, it's so beautiful! Sometimes I just pause the video in fullscreen 4K just to enjoy the view :-D
Extremely capable trucks. Just took a trip out west and enjoyed a ride up and down I70 through the tunnel. I own an F350 but you cannot deny how competitive all these trucks are.
It's probably hard for people to Comprehend that don't live in Denver that haven't towed heavy up Eisenhower how insane that pull is I do it twice a week in my semi. Hauling 78 GVVW and it's a monster
Even not towing heavy, it sucks the power out of an engine. I was driving in 2003 my 02 Honda S2000 up the west slopes (heading east) and was wondering WHY my car wouldn't accelerate any more till I saw the sign showing the elevation that I was at!
@@gerritfridericksohn4627 my father had a 1972 one, it regularly blew up engines when my family tried to go over various mountain passes. Our family friends that also had that vehicle had similar problems. 😂
I’ve driven both directions all the way through Colorado many times and you’re right it kicks the ass of a semi. 80k with 550hp and it’s 35-40mph with the fan on and I’ve had to pull over to cool down close to the top because my oil temp was over 250
The Ford was heavier because of a different trim level. It takes x amount of energy to move x mass x distance in x amount of time. In the end game, they are so close it doesn't matter, and it's about what you like more than anything else.
@CajunWolffe thats the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. That trim level didn't add anything substantial but a bunch of electronics. And not 230 lb ft of torque worth.😂
I don’t understand how the Chevy has 225 pound feet less than the Ford, and can basically keep up. Seems that either the Ford is overrated or the Chevy is underrated.
Manufacturers are claiming peak torque numbers that are only available on an engine dyno. GM peak torque is at 1800 rpm, but the transmission tuning will never let it operate there, it’ll force a shift. The numbers are a silly game, what matters is how it puts it to the ground.
What the other people said, just because they advertise a “peak” number doesn’t mean it’s actually useful in most situations. It be much more meaningful if they’d post an average torque number or even an actual dyno chart.
Banks did a pretty good dyno video on the new Duramax explaining how the new engine is making more effective and usable torque not just chasing a peak number. Its worth a watch for sure.

I love that you guys are doing this in what I'm assuming is June. Summer heat is a thing, testing these trucks on the Ike in June is perfect. Let's us know if these trucks can pull max load up the Ike in high temps. Thank you guys for all your work. Much appreciated.
It is always enjoyable to watch Mr. Truck and Andre on the IKE. Thank you gentlemen and the camera crew for another fun video. Love the Banks adapter for the truck. Hope you stay safe and healthy and really nice to see Mr. Truck looking healthy and young.
You can’t go wrong with either of these trucks, they’re both incredible and probably more capable than most of their owners (cough, no CDL,cough). I think the the Chevy has a larger diameter fan based on the height of that front end compared to the Ford, which actually looks small next to the Chevy. This allows it to run quieter since it doesn’t have to spin as fast for the same CFMs as the Ford. This also means, since it’s clutched, it doesn’t pull as much power from the engine to spin. But I’m probably the only one who likes the sound of a truck fan roaring. To me it sounds like POWWHA!!!
I bought a 2022 Duramax brand new. I wanted the F350, but was told 10 months wait. I was shocked by how well the Duramax does pulling my 42 for 5th wheel through these same roads. The 10 speed Allison (in name only) does...
if you look at last 10+ years you would notice that same trend. Chevy is lowest on hp/torque numbers but matches the other 2 even when down a bit on power.
weirdly enough, ive enjoyed this video more than the last few sports car drag races on other channels. I must secretly enjoy slow moving trucks towing heavy loads 🤔 haha. Good job fellas.
500hp and 1000+ft/lbs isn't as good as semi's 10yrs ago my friend, it stacks right up with lots of modern offerings from Paccar and DD. Very impressive ratings, will love to see the longevity of this powertrain🤔
I'm my experience you don't get both, longevity or power, or fuel mileage everything has a compromise, I have had many engines in semi trucks, but I m back to a 12.7 60 series Detroit, not for the power but the fuel economy
My good friend " thought he was gonna try a Ford 1 ton recently, papers written up etc!,went for 1 final test drive before buying, said he couldn't do it,Chevy felt as good and it was the ride comfort that he couldn't give up, traded his 23 in for a new 24.😊
Being in the market for a dually for towing, this was extremely helpful. The gauge cluster on the Ford and how it maintained speed down the hill was awesome. But are those same features available on a XL or XLT model? I’ll have to look into that. Cause i really don’t need a limited truck just to tow. Thank you once again guys. Looking forward to how the Ram does.
As someone who is a massive Cummins fan boy, if you get a Ram, by a 13-18. The newer trucks all have issues. I think the 20/21s were pretty good but avoid 22/23. The lifters and cams all get chewed it which is such a damn shame. Banks actually did a great break down on the new Duramaxs on how they improved a lot on the newer ones.
Avoid newer vehicles if possible, especially Rams, they are asking for way too much in cost for the same truck design they had years ago, barely any changes made or at best a mild refresh yet are asking for prices like it was a new model Chevy. Seriously GM has actually made proper changes, still they are way too expensive but it's not like it the exact same.
@@LucasLeCompteMusicI had a buddy that ran oil crews. He had 6 Rams (roughly 2018ish) crack the heads between cylinders 5-6 and were slowly spewing coolant out the exhaust, not that they could tell for a whole, though. One truck did this 3 times. He runs Fords now.
@@LucasLeCompteMusic i just sold a 2017 and it had issues with ABS control module. 2017-18,s are having bad issues and Ram doesnt have a fix for this. I am buying the 2024 chevy 3500 LTZ tomorrow!
Andre change the cruise control from adaptive cruise to regular cruise. Regular cruise will use the retarder in the transmission and not the brakes as much. It should tell you on the dash how to switch to the different cruise controls
I love my Fords...but whoa, what a price difference between these two trucks. I know the Ford had a few more bells and whistles but that's a lotta money, especially seeing how close they finished. The Chevrolets rear fenders and bigger wheels and tires looked a ton better as well. I gotta hand it to Chevy...for that kinda money I'd pick them over the Ford.
There is one point us Northern people must remember. 10 years from now the GMs body will most likely be showing rust on the steel body components. That wont happen on an F series. A huge issue for the salt country folks which will affect value down the road big time. 😊
To be fair, they had the wrong options for a towing test on this one. A Lariat F450 would have been a significantly better comparison to the Chevy. Two of the top-performing trucks with leather seats from each company, without a $15k price delta
10 years my truck will have been traded 3 times so that is completely irrelevant to me. Why would you even own one of these trucks out of warrenty. And as good as the trade in is who cares about extended warrenty. Trade in, write the check for difference and keep driving brand new.
I believe the LTZ breaking is more of a surge break application as you would do in a semi on a steep grade to prevent the breaks and rotors from overheating. I noticed it slowed to about 3 mph below 35 and ran out to about 3 mph over before initiating another break application. In the big rig I was taught to break to 5 under desired speed and run out 5 over before breaking and holding to the 5 under. Either way I’ve always been a Ford man but after 35 years I think I’m going give the Chevy a go. Great video!
Love the comparison. Have owned both powerstroke and now have a duramax. Reason I now have duramax, price. Not enough difference to spend more on one vs the other.
Actually it depends. For me that does hot shot trucking I’ll rather pay that extra money and have a better towing capacity to make more money on my runs. Pretty much thanks to the extra towing the truck pays itself. Gonna trade my 2021 GMC 3500 Dually for the 2023 F350 Dually pretty soon
The Chevy was pretty decent I think. Hell a half ton Denali Ultimate cost that much. Think its pretty reasonable being able to get a 1 ton dually that isn't optioned as much as the Ultimate but its close enough for the same price but at a 1 ton instead of a half ton
Since you ran these trucks under CMV regulations, and despite Ram not being present at this time, I’m surprised you didn’t call this video the “Hot-Shot” special! Liked what I did there?…one ton dullies pulling a heavy load 😅✌🏼
These are the kinds of tests many viewers enjoy. It’s a legit real world test of a vehicle and capabilities. As much as I enjoy them though, I can’t bring myself to buy a $100k for personal use. Now if I was hot shot or construction crew, that’s a different story.
18:29 Those are jounce bumpers and not traditional bump stops. Meaning you still have more travel after the jounce bumper comes in contact with the axle. Those are similar to things like Timbren SES or SuperSprings.
It's pretty but these are work trucks and those fenders are likely to be pretty damaged. At the cost of body work, bolting on a new fender sounds like function over form.
This test should really have been done in a Base model XL because lets be honest most people towing that kind of weight are going to be in those base model trucks doing it for work. An upper trim level personal truck is hardly ever be towing anything that heavy.
I don't have a truck. I'm not going to buy anything off Mr Truck. But he is so cool. Brings good vibes and lots of knowledge, and he adds value to the TFL family.
Chevy was quicker to 60, had better towing temperatures, less squat, better ride, slightly better fuel economy, more affordable, only 11 seconds difference at the top, and the fan isn't super annoying like the Ford. Throw in the price difference and I know which one I would choose.
Can't really argue with your logic, but it still comes down to when your buying something you have to like it, how it looks, yourself in it.... WTF was gm thinking with those tow mirrors!? They're so ugly I hate the look of the truck overall. If you don't like the looks in the showroom, you won't like it in your driveway and so on.
@@gamebredduramax71 Allison 10L1000 transmission is a fraternal twin of the Ford TorqShift 10 Speed 10R140. That is based on the Ford 6r140 that was used in the previous gen Superduty. In fact, the Allison 10L00 that is transmissions internal components are largely interchangeable with those of the Ford, who is the parent engineer of this product.
I like both trucks but the only thing impressive about the chevy was that it didn't lose by more than it did. I think Chevy is very conservative with their HP/TQ numbers because that H.O. Powerstroke should have beat the Duramax by a lot more based on the advertised numbers. I wish they tested using a Lariat instead of the limited.
500HP and 1200 lbs of torque is what you might see in a 18-wheel commercial truck towing 80k lbs. Those numbers have been done with aftermarket upgrades but to have a emissions legal engine hit that much is amazing. I remember when DPF, and PTF filters were put on diesel trucks, and some said it wasn't possible to produce more power in a pickup engine and be emission legal.
I would never buy a ford but I am Very impressed with the ford dash showing all the exact temps for fluids and the information for exhaust brake and boost. The newest generation Duramax was supposed to have better exhaust braking with heavier valve springs to reduce valve chatter.
IDK if it changed but with GM you used to have to tell the truck what speed you wanted it to be by applying the brake and holding it at that speed for a few seconds. 16k trailer and once I found that out I never had to brake with the exhaust brake on going down hill
That’s what i heard to about GM exhaust braking… but lets be honest. It is one of the most annoying system to use with GM. Ram/Cummins as always been best and super simple to understand. Ford made a major leap with new info cluster. But GM, man c’mon, annoying. Even the baby 3.0, no one really knows for sure if that does anything.
@@Tony-hf9mv That’s the thing tho. As time goes, People have more access to towing/accessories and unfortunately not everyone should towing nor do they completely understand laws of physics when we talk about heavier loads. This is why dedicated truck drivers understand how mass don’t stop on a dime, why exhaust braking aids in maintaining speed compared to solely brakes.
Great work guys! Damn good watch! I’m a little disappointed you guys didn’t grab the F450 “pickup not cab&chassis” for this run. Figured you’d go with the top dog. Still impressive though 👍 That and can’t wait to see the current HO Cummins. You guys haven’t tested it since its power bump to 420hp and 1075ft lbs
Excellent video guys!! Interesting results for sure.... what were the rear end ratios? I know Chevy only comes with the 3:42 option, but what about the Ford? Bet it was a lower gear, yet with much less torque, the Chevy got to 60 sooner and almost kept up for the whole run. That just shows that these trucks are all getting so powerful that a few hundred foot pounds won't really matter... it's more about mapping and how they're able to put it down. Also, gathering info from several sources, it seems the PowertStroke truly likes to run hot, which OK that's alright I guess (not that 230 coolant is comfortable), but a 30-40 degree difference in trans temp between the Chevy and Ford can't be helping in overall longevity. The other things several sources seem to state is that the Ford rear end can't quite handle the heavy load as well, and ends up on the bump stops. I will say though, it's disappointing to see that the Chevy didn't do better downhill, despite the fact that they've updated the turbo, valves, and exhaust brake to be stronger than previous year. Also Ford is killing it with the gauge game. They went from having the shittiest gauges just showing approximates on a "bar", to now by far having the best and most comprehensive gauges. Great job!
If you could think outside the box for a minute, one thing that has worked great for years was to run a 366 Chevy big block in a Chevy two wheel drive truck pulling a 7000 pound car trailer, you could not ask for more
As a commercial tire installer for over 15 years Ivan tell you those caps (flow through) are useless, and a large contributor to "run flats". ✌️Be safe...love the channel!
Awesome comparison guys, I would still take the Chevy over the ford just because of the price difference, there are already too high and almost 17000 more for the Ford and they're comparably equipped. I would go with the Chevy.
Chevy all day! Chevy is better truck over 100k miles! Only ford truck I’d buy is one with coyote. Diesel powerstroke should never be only anyone’s list. Dmax and Cummins know how to design and build reliable diesel engines, ford makes junk. 17k more for something that’s gonna break? Ford needs to go beg to Caterpillar and ask them to design them a reliable light duty diesel engine. Even International trucks use a Cummins ISX15 now over their Navistar junk.
@@tres311if you’ve ever owned a 7.3 you would be signing a different tune. Very few people will actually need as much power as equipped in these trucks. All that technology is great, until the repair bill shows up. 80k for a truck…what a joke.
Chevy High Country is a $100,000 truck. The limited is the most expensive Ford. I have a fleet of mixed brands for my construction business, 3 Ford's, 2 GMC's, 4 Chevy's because I can get them cheaper than the GMC and 3 Rams. The oldest trucks are 2019 F250 and 2 2021 Chevy 2500. All the others are 22s. Both Chevy's have had more problems than the 2019 Ford. The other two Chevy's are 22s and one has had some sensor s issues but the other same year is doing great. The other 2 Ford's, one of the Ford's, same problem as the Chevy, sensor issues and the other no problems. The GMC has their share of problems and the Rams are doing great except for and guess what it is...sensor issues and every time I turn around one throws a code so I have to take it in for an update. I've had previous Ford's with issues just like anything else. It's just the way it is.
Great videos as usual and I have 3 comments. 1) Please share rear end ratios between trucks being compared, it can make a fair bit of difference. I have a ‘19 and ‘23 Super duty crew cab dually truck (identical spec trucks except gearing) with the standard output and the ‘19 with 4.10 does better keeping the truck up to speed with less power and a six speed rather than a 10 speed with 3.55. 2) It might be worth retesting the two trucks or at least the Chev once you get an understanding of why it took so much help form service brakes. Might just be the way it’s setup, it doesn’t look like the truck rode the brakes so it can’t have affected the effectiveness of the exhaust brake that much!? 3) Squat is almost irrelevant at 1/2” difference. Looks like squat on the Ford may have been measured after the run when the suspension has been worked and the chev was right when the load was placed onto the GN ball before going to the test run?. That can make the difference. Just curious. Thanks again for producing these videos, exceptionally well done once again!,👌
I think the Chevy did really well. I think they decided that slow and steady wins the race. With the considerable price difference, not much of a performance difference, better ride and better efficiency.
@@kenwolf2431 Curious, but what is above the LTZ trim on Chevy? I've known a couple people with LTZ-level Chevys, an Equinox and an Impala, and I thought that was the highest trim level. I've never seen badging on any recent Chevy other than LS, LT and LTZ.
These trucks are really incredible. I have a 22 Chevy 2500 LTZ and the 6.6 is a dream to drive. Yanked a 6k truck one time and the truck handles amazing
8 break applications 😮 twice as many as the Ford. Please let us know if GM gives you guys an explanation. A great double tow video, it is really amazing what it’s new trucks can tow. Keep up the great job guys, love your videos 🤗👍💪🤗🤗
IMO, it all comes down to the exhaust brake and GM has the worst of the bunch. Ford's is ok but the brake on the Cummins is something else. I drive a 2020 Ram 3500 and that brake is vicious.
I used to use manual shifting going down hill then Ford did recall and recalibrated the F-150 Powerstroke based on these videos. Now i use cruise control like Andre going down hill towing my camper. This method works on the Fords....
I find it entertaining that there's such a huge power difference between the Ford and the GM and that only equated to less than 20 seconds difference going uphill. Not impressed with the Ford
@@AK_Ray lol 20 HP? Ford has 500 HP. GM has 470. That's a 30 HP difference. Ford is rated at 1200 ft lbs. GM is rated at 975 ft lbs. That's 225 ft lbs difference. All that and Ford was only 13 seconds faster. That means the standard output Powerstroke doesn't stand a chance against the Duramax
Do people hauling that much weight really use cruise control on a downhill? That seems like a super sketchy idea. The computer may not be considering brake temps or any of the tell tail signs that things are not holding up and end making it worse. You really shouldn't be towing that much if you are so uncomfortable that you have to rely on cruise control. In my opinion I find the original manual brake application test to be more helpful. Really enjoying these super heavy weight tests though! Keep it up TFL!
I know you're testing the cruise control ,but don't most people use manual mode going up and down grades or is that just me? I like to have it locked into gear and not shifting.
It’s not bad at all, but they are close on HP. Perhaps adding another 3,000lbs of towing weight would make the difference more clear, where the extra torque could help more.
Chevy all the way! Chevys $15,000 dollars CHEAPER plus beats Ford in about everything except break counts. ( I personally ain’t counting the roughly 6 seconds lower time because in my personal opinion, that isn’t enough to be noticeable). The biggest shocker of me is how the Chevy with roughly 300 LESS LB of torque than the ford actually was faster accelerating!!! 37:35
@@skylermummert24where you get that from? I call B.S. that usable torque of 1200 ft/lbs would only be available in the first gear at about 1-1600 rpm. The last three gears of that 10 speed transmission are overdrive gears, so you are telling me Ford waits until the last under drive gear to give full torque? You need to do more research because that's false.
Still a loss for GM..... Plus the interior of Chevys are shit compared to the Limited and Platinums of Ford. Im not even a Ford guy..... Plus a heavier frame, and solid front axle for strength. And in an unloaed 1/4 mile time the Powerstroke killed the Duramax. It is what it is....
@@zoomboy28 if wanted a z06 corvette I would have bought one...who's racing? GMC ultimate Denali interior is just as topnotch as Dodge and Ford. The fuel pump and transmission is head over those two. We won't mention the ride quality of the GM compared to those old I acquainted solid front axles of Ford and ram. There's a reason atvs and side by sides have independent front suspension.
102,000 vs. 85,000... if they are that close, and it comes down to value, that's a no brainer for going with the chevy and saving the $17,000. Add paying tax on that 17,000 here in texas, and you're at $18,105 with tax (6.5%). idk... that seems like too much extra money for something that's really close in value.

That Chevy still my fav and the best looking one, this is the perfect representation of my dream truck 3500HD, Dually, perfect interior setup and AWD, I would just change the color to a dark blue or silver.
Great video guys, enjoy the cab chatter & truck info. The DuraMax was more impressive than expected, haven't looked at powermax for awhile, it's made great improvement. Several comments that include Big Trucks/Tractor while comparing to F350 Dually... a Pickup. At 500hp & 1200 Torque, that's outstanding for a Pickup stock powertrain. Rams were super but last 4 yrs haven't kept up... The 6.7 HO Power Stroke is currently the leader "Pickup" in power specs & tow specs, out torquing the Ram I6 Cummins is impressive. DuraMax is lowest of 3 in power specs, it may leapfrog and surprise us in a few years.
I really like this comparison between the new HD trucks. I can’t wait to see how the Ram performs. Why don’t you guys throw in the GMC Sierra into the comparison as well? The 2024 GMC HD trucks got an update so it would be nice to see how that performs too.
I’d like everyone to note that the ford was overheating when they made the turn around to go back up the mountain. All temperatures were over 220 degrees. And the engine oil temperature continued to climb all the way up the mountain.
That's not overheating. That's average temps pulling a heavy load like that up a 7% grade. When my semi is maxed on gross weight, pulling a 7% climb... all my temps sky rocket. I turn on the cooling fan early just to manage the temps better. This is honestly impressive with a 6.7 L engine. My semi has the 15 L Cummins Productivity Series pushing 605HP and 2050 Ftlb of torque. My coolant fluxes with the air movement My oil temp rises to 240 My trans temp rises to 210 My drive axle temps rise to 200 That's all part of running a diesel hard. There are times I even back out of the power cause my oil temp is approaching 250, and warnings start going off. Plus, with the power the Ford makes, I expect it to run high temps. Chevy has always been conservative on everything their HD trucks are capable of. Honestly, I like that Ford gives you a number read out for your temps, not a bar that doesn't tell you the actual temp, just that you're in range of the limits. I guarantee you the Chevy was running hot as well. The issue with the Chevy temp readings is how they're programming them to tell you information. Chevys coolant gauge rises and stays in the middle regardless of flux in the actual temperature. You could be running 190 to 220, and the gauge won't move... It's not programmed to move until you get up to 240, then the needle really moves quickly. It's all trickery in the Chevy. The Chevy coolant hit 230 guaranteed. The Chevy Oil temperature was probably around 220 and continued to rise, guaranteed. It's foolish to believe the temps won't rise under heavy load. No diesel will pull that and run temps under 210 for the engine oil and coolant.
Here watching this video after visiting a GMC dealer. Went to look at 3 2024 Duramax AT4X truck's they had. One wouldn't start, another had a check engine light on and one had the hood up in the shop. It was a Sunday and nobody knew what was wrong with it. Needless to say I left with my money. Is this common with these new GMC trucks!?!?
@208SledHead not loyal to any one brand. Own all 3 brands within a year of each other. But thanks for letting everyone know where you stand little squirrel.
I keep coming back to your channel for videos on this challenge. Very entertaining. Btw one major flaw with the mpg challenge today, which is Toyota or Honda doesn’t take 85. It only Takes 87 and above.
Ford has more torque management in the lower gears once it reached 7th gear I noticed it reached 28 psi of boost and when it was only in 5th gear it was only producing 24 psi, being a full throttle run boost pressure should of been consistent
Really fun review. Nice job as usual. One nit-pick; at the end when you did your scoring you say that the Ford did the Gauntlet in 10:03 but in fact you timed it at 10:06.82. Ultimately, it was about 13 seconds quicker than the Chevy, not 17 seconds as you say in your summation. Which brings up another point. The HO Ford has 1200 lb/ft of torque compared to 975 for the Chevy; a difference of 23%. Yet the difference between their times is only 13 seconds or 2% (which I would suggest could easily be within the margin of error given potential differences in the two runs.) Begs the question; is the Duramax making more power than advertised or the PowerStroke less?
I'd wonder if there would be a difference with regular cruise mode VS. adaptive cruise mode. The adaptive cruise is extremely brake happy in my 2024 GMC 3500
Cool but I still wish you guys did this test in a hotter climate (something in the 90-110F range). Many vehicles that do well in your videos don't do well at all in my area, so sadly it's not as useful as it could be to me when trying to truck shop.
I don't think the different in the two trucks justifies the $17,000 difference in the price of the Ford. I mean common, you take the top of line Ford and compare it to the Below top of line Chevy and there's just a smidgeon difference in performance. I'll take the truck that cost $17,000 less every time.
Well for people like me that do Hot Shot Trucking I will rather pay those $17,000 extra for nicer interior, panoramic sunroof, more gauges to monitor how the truck is running, and on top of all that better towing capacity. The Ford can tow 10,000 pounds more than the Chevy. I can make so much more money on the Ford on one single tow and those extra $17,000 will pay themselves. Exactly why I will be trading in my 2021 GMC 3500HD that I use for hot shot trucking for the 2023 F350 Dually 💪🏻

Interesting that the Ford has 30 hp and 230 lb*ft more, yet the Chevy was only 13 seconds slower up the Ike, and got better fuel mileage.
11 seconds...the ford time was 10:06
The Ford was heavier because of a different trim level.
Heavier of what 100lbs ?
That 0.1 mpg really isn't better. It's almost the same.
@@brucecollins8865 You can actually lock the Ford in to a specific gear.
They never stated rear gear ratio on each truck……???
What the other people said, just because they advertise a “peak” number doesn’t mean it’s actually useful in most situations. It be much more meaningful if they’d post an average torque number or even an actual dyno chart.
The Chevy also did the climb with lower fluid temperatures. I’ll take 17 extra seconds to climb this hill if the components stay cooler.
Banks did a pretty good dyno video on the new Duramax explaining how the new engine is making more effective and usable torque not just chasing a peak number. Its worth a watch for sure.
That always seems to be the duramaxs MO, I just wish they had wider seats for my fat butt and a E-coated frame and I’d be there tomorrow

The irony of Andre driving a Chevrolet and saying that the Ford was “Like a Rock”
Fan sound , feels like power??
Really???
Nice try Chevy guy!!

I am shocked at the uphill performance of the Chevy. On paper, the Ford should win by a mile. This is why factory numbers don't mean anything.
I bought a 2022 Duramax brand new. I wanted the F350, but was told 10 months wait. I was shocked by how well the Duramax does pulling my 42 for 5th wheel through these same roads. The 10 speed Allison (in name only) does...
It did well, but those numbers definitely showed. I expect the Ram to be considerably further behind
I’d like to see what these trucks weigh. With the ford being a fully optioned truck and with 12 extra gallons of fuel I wonder if the ford is heavier?
if you look at last 10+ years you would notice that same trend. Chevy is lowest on hp/torque numbers but matches the other 2 even when down a bit on power.
I swear you fan boys can find an excuse for anything

Finally someone just came out and said it about the bumper step. One of the best simple innovations in modern trucks…..9 years ago.
More than that- the Avalanche had it 20 years ago.

Compare the same trim truck which would be Dually 3500 Denali Ultimate and price is very close.
Same
To be fair, they had the wrong options for a towing test on this one.
Its called snub braking in the trailer trucking world.

Cummins isn't known to be the fastest but it is known to have the best longevity
The F450 wouldn't improve on what you see here much, maybe a little faster uphill because of the shorter gears
Great job!

I used to use manual shifting going down hill then Ford did recall and recalibrated the F-150 Powerstroke based on these videos. Now i use cruise control like Andre going down hill towing my camper. This method works on the Fords....
You guys did a great job on comparing those two monsters and that’s what consumers are looking for before buying. Really appreciated and keep it up
Thanks
I love you guys reviews, I really enjoy watching your reviews and the info you put out.
Only diesel I’ll ever buy are Dmax or Cummins. Power stroke are dangerous investments
Please explain
You sound like my die hard for life chevy friend that now owns two fords and no chevys haha
i have the 2021 Ford F350 dually and i love it! Yes, i watched your previous comparison videos which assisted in me making my decision.
I find it entertaining that there's such a huge power difference between the Ford and the GM and that only equated to less than 20 seconds difference going uphill. Not impressed with the Ford
The power difference is only like 20 hp
@@AK_Rayalso the torque is less on the Chevy lol!!
GM doesn't limit one ounce of the power on the Duramax, unlike Ford that does limit on take off and in certain conditions.
@@countcuda70 lol ok 30 then, that's power. The 1200# is torque not power. Op said power.
Oh Snap, Andre said it! He gave Ford the Chevy motto “Like a Rock”! And we all agree😂
37:10 Not bad at all considering 225 lb-ft torque difference
It’s not bad at all, but they are close on HP. Perhaps adding another 3,000lbs of towing weight would make the difference more clear, where the extra torque could help more.
Yep, it's more about hp when it comes to moving a set load at speed.
Nice hats! No cattle. I did notice that both trucks had sun roofs, and there was still enough head room that you could wear those hats comfortably.
Probably because fords not full power til 6th gear
Great video. I’d like to see it done with the gasser versions of these trucks
We would love to do that if we can get the trucks.
@@TFLtruckyou should do a 1 ton gas max ike for all 4 gas engine offerings (Ford 7.3/6.8, GM 6.6 and Ram 6.4). I'd say a 17k load up the ike with these engines would be the ultimate test, especially with GMs 10 speed for the 6.6 gas and the new 6.8 mini zilla. If you do that test can you do a shout out to me? Thank you for your very awesome and informative episodes!👍👍
@@TFLtruck can you do an over lap on them to show where each truck is side by side?
$102,000 vs $85,000 is a lot of change to be that close. If you could prove which was more reliable and cheaper to keep, that would make my decision.
I dream about that trailer too Mr. Truck 👍
Yean, very nice
I love the bolt on dually fender. If you get your fender banged it's not a big deal on the Ford. On the Chevy it'll cost you thousands of dollars.
I really like this comparison between the new HD trucks. I can’t wait to see how the Ram performs. Why don’t you guys throw in the GMC Sierra into the comparison as well? The 2024 GMC HD trucks got an update so it would be nice to see how that performs too.
Gmc and Chevy are the same
Same damn thing both governments motors lll
Haters always
The tire size for ford 245/75r17= 31.47 inch
The tire size for chevy 235/80r18=32.8 inch
If they have same tire size i think chevy has a chance
Hey, who doesn’t love a sexy rear……… fender?! 😂
Great job, once again, to the two manliest of truck men 🤜🤛👏👍
Thanks
Thanks for putting the rubber to road, it really lets the cream rise to the top with true comparisons.
My coolant fluxes with the air movement
My oil temp rises to 240
My trans temp rises to 210
My drive axle temps rise to 200
That's all part of running a diesel hard.
Future prediction is they will rate the dodge at 4.5 stars. Because TFL cant get off the Ford wagon.
Very true!
Someone sounds butt hurt 😂
Tell me you're a Cummins fan boi without telling me you're a Cummins fan boi

I keep coming back to your channel for videos on this challenge. Very entertaining. Btw one major flaw with the mpg challenge today, which is Toyota or Honda doesn’t take 85. It only Takes 87 and above.
Ford has more torque management in the lower gears once it reached 7th gear I noticed it reached 28 psi of boost and when it was only in 5th gear it was only producing 24 psi, being a full throttle run boost pressure should of been consistent
Engine gets loaded harder in a higher gear. Boost is a measure of restriction.

The GMC Sierra Denali Untimate would have been a better comparison for luxury features...
The exhaust break on gm has always been lacking. Ram has had the best for years
The elephant in the room. The CHEVY is a much better looking truck.
Better looking? I can't believe anyone is even capable of thinking that! Gotta be a bot or somebody paid off.
@@philjenkins2320 Said the Ford owner. 😂
Cool but I still wish you guys did this test in a hotter climate (something in the 90-110F range). Many vehicles that do well in your videos don't do well at all in my area, so sadly it's not as useful as it could be to me when trying to truck shop.
😭
I don't think the different in the two trucks justifies the $17,000 difference in the price of the Ford. I mean common, you take the top of line Ford and compare it to the Below top of line Chevy
and there's just a smidgeon difference in performance.
