I mean, King Bobomb was the first boss in Super Mario 64, the first 3D Mario game. So they had to make him kind of easy because he is something that Mario gamers had never seen before.

I don’t understand the logic for why King Bob-Omb is #2. It is the first star which you were intended to obtain, it’s supposed to introduce you to the 3D mechanic.

Way, way back in the day, I had trouble with King Bob-Omb, actually, because I didn't realize you weren't supposed to throw him off the edge. That was the first thing I tried, because that's the way you defeat a lot of other Mario enemies (pushing them off whatever arena they are on), including, mind you, other bosses in that same game. When that didn't work, it didn't occur to me to just throw him on the ground, because if throwing him off the mountain didn't hurt him, why would throwing him on the ground hurt him? It's not like it hurts me either. I assumed that there must be something more to the fight. As a boss, he was so easy that it actually hindered my ability to learn the game.
So I'm all for him being #2 here.
I think playing through Bob-omb Battlefield before getting to him is introducing 3D mechanics enough.
I agree with you. King Bob-Omb is a great boss. Wiggler from SM64 is pathetic though, that should be on this Top 10 list.
Boom boom is too easy
I absolutely loved Barron Brrr. It was more about the arena you were in rather than the actual boss itself. It was one of the more cinematic bosses, which is saying something for SMG

I agree with the Battles in Mario 64 being bad most of the time. But i actually Think they improved King Bob omb in the ds version, cause there you have to face him as yoshi and he throw Bob ombs at you, which i Think makes more sense for him as a character

Yes, really the DS version is better. Also I used to have some difficulties when I started the game actually aiming at him when palaying with yoshi (I wasn't even 10). And I feel like his hitbox when facing him with mario is bigger, but I may be wrong.
Honestly, I like the mad lad Boom Boom. Even if he’s almost as simple to kill as a big goomba, he is still a pretty cool Mario enemy in my opinion.

I feel he actually gets good in Super Mario 3D Land. With him having so many boss battles, they do so many arenas where the challenge comes in with how you deal with Boom Boom in the new arena. Kinda hope they do more of that. A boss arena, especially for a Mario game, helps add challenge where there wasn't previously....
Also I like Boom Boom he's simple but cool.

Giga (or King) Lakitu is my favorite boss in Galaxy 2. I liked fighting a giant Lakitu in full 3D.
I like Baron Brrr and King Ka-thunk, but their fights are understanding for when they're encountered in their games.
I agree with your number ten Nico, however, it's possible to beat this boss without the spring suit (as both Mario and Luigi), which doesn't make this boss easier, but at least your sense of control is way better. Now, how do you beat this boss without the spring suit, well glad you asked Nicobarbieq, do a well timed triple-jump, wall jump off the glass, followed by a mid-air spin where you will be on top of him. Just do this three times, and this boss becomes much better, you can thank me later.

Me too, it may not be in my top 3 but it's pretty fun and I ctually thought hte controls weere quite decent for it (way easier than half of Super Mario Sunshine's levels)
I know I am late for this, but the Undergrunt Gunner took me a bit to defeat my first time in Gold Leaf. I did not know those switches were there, and I lost my Bee Suit a little back, so I carefully placed backflips on top of the small barrier, and that is how I did it. It was a little difficult doing that.

Boom boom is the easiest boss in NSMBU. Once you land on him the first time, it’s pretty damn easy to stomp on him the next two times
Luckily, the boss fight in Mario 64 D.S., made King Bob-Omb more threatening.
The boss in freezeflame Galaxy may be an easy boss but you do got to admit it does look like a pretty cool boss
So, essentially, Boom Boom is an advanced goomba. Sounds about right.

(+Cooladee) To be fair, nobody plays Mario for its boss fights, so they don’t put too much into making them. It would be cool if they made them better, but I like having creative levels even if they have bad bosses.

If you’re the kind of person who thinks underwhelming or easy is worse, try the final boss of the Splatoon 2 campaign. If you think hard is worse, try Revenge of Octo Samurai
Jason So ...implying the Octavio fight from 2 is good? It isn’t. The Splatoon 1 fight outshines it in every way. I’ll give you this though, the Octo Samurai fights in 2 were cool.

I actually really love Baron Brrr, I was a fan of the lil' brrr and lil' cinder enemies and seeing a boss based on one of them was excellent IMO, even his battle is pretty cool

Honestly the boss in Yoshi's NEW Island is the worst.

For number 1 the final boss is actually kind of difficult (I bought the full game) he through bob-mobs at you and if you time it right you can toss them back at him but he also throws spike balls and shoots fire so you never know what he will toss at you,but he is also in a loop a clown car and he moves up and down from 5 different platforms and if you don’t jump on the bob-Oms while he is on your plat form then the attack misses

I'm confused. You use all versions of Renznor and Boom Boom, but only one version of Bowser? Also, what would you do for a boss with only one option available? You complain about only doing one thing, when that's all you can do! And why didn't you show the Boom Boom from Super Mario Run? Is it counted, or not?

In retrospect I feel like boss battles are one of the weakest aspects of Mario games. I think Odyssey got it a bit better though

The final boss of SML is pretty cool. It’s a cloud that shoots missiles and then turns into a machine, and you have to fight it while piloting a combat plane.

Some I agree with such as the challenge should never come from bad controls. A few though I feel you forget Mario games are meant to be inclusive to a wide age demographic and sub bosses and early bosses shouldn't be that hard to beat and instead teach a general strategy to the player to build on more elements for later fights.
You know you can backflip, wall jump off the pillar, and then spin back to get on top of the Mole Gunner in Toy Time? Makes it so much easier.

Reznor sucks in the original SMW, but I’m glad it’s in the game because there’s been some really awesome and creative ROM hack uses for the fight, especially within the better Kaizo hacks I’ve played. For example, JUMP (I know it’s not a Kaizo example) had a pretty cool one.
That's funny you put the Super Mario Sunshine King boo fight cause for some reason when I was a kid I loved that boss fight I'm not kidding and I'd reapetedly beat him for hours
But the final bowser boss fight in super Mario run is pretty original and epic too

The Mario series has a fantastic bestiary, but the traditional platformers (particularly 2D) struggle to come up with great boss fights because they have to account for the fact you may only be able to run and jump and take a single hit. That’s why SMB2 (US) and Yoshi’s Island have the best boss fights of the sidescrollers: You can take more than one hit and always have more moves than just “stomp” at your disposal. And the Mario RPGs have even better bosses because you have even more options (that aren’t tied to temporary power-ups like most Mario platformers).
This isn’t a knock against traditional Mario platformers, nor is it saying that none of their bosses are good. Just that due to the games’ design, boss fights aren’t their strength.
