- Can Super Mario 3D World be beat without ever touching nor collecting a single coin? I've watched Ceave's Gaming's video where he shows how to beat New Super Mario Bros. U without collecting coins and it gave me the idea of actually trying this for Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U, as it's one of my favorite and most played Mario game of all time. This video will show you the struggles that I encountered and will finally answer the question : Is it possible to beat Super Mario 3D World Without Touching a Single Coin?

With the Koopa, the knockback death animation made him die directly over the shell even though he was hit far away from it. And I guess shells are just coin magnets.
With 2-Tank, another way to do it is to stun the bullet bill as it goes offscreen rather than *tanking* the hit. But both are equally annoying, it seems.
In 4-1, you don't need the cat suit but using it is smart. I wish I was smart enough to consider that when I tried my full run. I personally damage boosted across the spikes.
In 4-2, you don't need to be small. For some reason, I found that you don't collect the coins if you're closer to the front of the screen (if that makes sense) while going over.
In 4-4... I'm almost certain the trampoline does give a coin. Not sure, I just lured all three enemies to the left corner and ran for my life.
Actually, 4-B can be done by getting the Fire Bros to snipe each other, haha.
In 5-1, that even key token can be done much easier with two ground pound jumps.
In 5-2, you don't need the cat suit But uhh... yeah bringing it is smart. You can stand on the cannon part of the clear pipe and spin jump + wall jump to reach the seasaw platform.
And yeah, 5-4 is impossible. I did a video claiming it was possible. It's not. I record with sound off and did not hear the coins going off SINCE THERE ISN'T A COIN COUNTER YET THEY KEEP COUNTING!

6:29 The coin was collected because when you killed the koopa troopa, the coin dropped right next to the shell and the shell's hitbox was just big enough to collect the coin. Remember that shells can collect coins.
6:31 hey nicobbq i think i have your answer. so you know when you throw a koopa shell it collects coins? well im pretty sure that rule counts whether or not its moving due to the physics of 3d world and im pretty sure it's the same for 3d land as well.

Technically, you never physically touch anything, you just hovering your finger over it ever so slightly.

Did nobody else think about the secret exit in world 1? Legit, beating the game doesn't require playing every level, it requires beating the final boss.

6:24 I think it’s for the same reason that you got two coins by letting the shells bounce around in the mystery box: whenever a shell touches a coin (the coin generated by the Koopa fell spawned on top of the shell), it automatically collects it.

The reason with that coin: when ANYTHING collectible touches a koopa troopa shell it will be automatically collected. Just that you know😉
In Super Mario Run, this is also impossible because you get coins for landing on the flag.

Honestly, you should remake this video but have it continue going after Sprawling Savannah. I always disliked how you just quit the run entirely after it instead of turning it into a minimalist challenge like with the later coinless videos.
I have never even thought of this as a challenge but its cool and great video

6:27 Probably 'cause as you said earlier that shells can collect coins when the shell comes into contact with the coin so maybe the coin inconveniently landed on where it can come into contact with the shell, giving you that COIN OF SIN.

You can certainly get 70 stars and complete Super Mario 64 normally coinless, but 100% is impossible, because of red coin stars and 100-coin stars.

This is actually already a thing. Ever star (except 100 coins and red coins) is obtainable, though Snowman's Lost His Head can't be done in a full game run, since you have to select that star specifically to be able to do it and it's the star right after the 8 red coin star on the star selection screen.

Yes, the Springtrap (Yes, I call it a Springtrap don't FNaF me) at the end of that one level does give you a coin. I saw it in one of Nathaniel Bandy's videos. At least, i think so, it was an active Springtrap though... Also, "filled with DETERMINATION!"
Blocking enemies isn’t the only thing you can use touch controls for in Super Mario 3D World. You can also reveal the locations of ninga-coins without collecting them, and reveal the locations of invisible blocks without hitting them.

You may have already tried this but I think you may be able to have the level end faster if you kill the ants, a friend jumps on flagpole as you're killing the ants, and then you go into a bubble. I hope you see this and it works because I want the run to be possible
