Parkinsons and protein

Best to avoid protein intake for about an hour either side of your meds. The neurologist and med packaging may say 30 mins but I found for me that this isn’t enough. Probably explains why I feel my health is up and down!

Diet deffo has a massive impact on meds. Lots of trial and error…

A tip from my Dr is to crush one of the levodopa in ur mouth for quick consumption and drink with carbonated drink

Iron as well, vit b6 blocks carbidopa, timing works sometimes.

Gas and indigestion is a problem for me that blocks it

I had the same problem as you initially. The Parkinson's medicine wouldn't work when I ate protein even after several hours. I now eat all the protein I want including eggs, chicken, and beef. The trick is to not eat any protein during the day. I wait until late in the evening until one or two hours after my last dose of levocarb. This gives my brain a chance to absorb all the medicine. The protein doesn't stop the medication from working when taken this way.

It can be treated, but is certainly a struggle to live with.

The PIP assessment is savage and cruel do all medical conditions not just your own.. I have chronic and severe depression and they turned me down .
