The reason nothing apart from 5 guns is used is because the second anything else becomes viable pro players cry about how it should be nerfed and we should go back to the standard meta. There you go
Exactly this, it feels like the pro players are the reason why Counter Strike hasn't seen any actual content since CS Source in 2004. All for the sake of competitive balance. I miss the days when Counter Strike was basically just a multiplayer shooter in a rainbow six style setting (terrorists vs counter terrorists in various places), but ever since it's taken the e sports route it has lost its identity (just like Rainbow Six Siege, from there's other issues with that)
But people would actually buy it at half because they could lay down bullets for pressure/cover fire for a reasonable price granted you will still be out gunned by m4s/ak.
It would be good for holding wide tunnels though, thanks to the absolute dogshit recoil u can clear out a smoke push in seconds because its damage is kinda high. it would probably be overpowered tho cause it WOULD be 2600, thats cheaper than a AK. M249 deals 24 damage and ak deals 27, but the M249 fires faster. Tho the AK deals less damage per second. (270) m249 = (300), and the AK has lower armor penetration. It would be probably really meta if it was halved in price,
Do people forget that the 249 has 1 shot headshots? The thing is a beast on CT where they have very very few 1 tap options. I would buy it every round at half price. Just burst with it and don't try to use it like a Negev with a Cadillac price tag.
This is so obvious during the AUG meta of 2019 and the SG meta that soon followed. My reaction to it is... Why don't they get the idea to use the SG against the AUG?
@@PLSomeone The SG stats were never buffed, it was always powerful from the very beginning, (only the price was reduced at one point, from $3000 to $2750)
@@soldatheeroyou know whats casual friendly? Only having 2 guns that actually work cs players dont want to learn new weapons they only want the ak and m4 to be useable
And the time that CS tried to change with Condition Zero. It came and went because of CS Source, along with all that new promised content not being brought in (some only added in the campaign)
So many SMGs would be bought more if the price was reduced. MP9 and Mac-10 are just too valuable for the $$$ that it’s silly to buy any other guns in eco situations
how much can you really reduce the Mac-10 though? most you can really do is $200, otherwise you get a Mac-10 on pistol lmao. I feel like both sides get enough loss bonus to afford SMGs pretty much every round. maybe reduce the MP9 to match the Mac-10 though, even though the MP9 is silly OP for its cost sometimes
@@Nonchalant333 oh, I see what you mean now. I do definitely think the P90 is a little expensive considering its somehow more than the T's equivalent of the Famas. But yeah, lowering other SMGs really wont even affect the Eco meta at all
The one change I disagree with when it comes to the krieg was them fiddling with the accuracy. That was the one niche the krieg occupied that you couldn't get over the AK. Sure you can lower the fire rate, but when they changed the accuracy, the whole point of the weapon was lost. Before the accuracy changes, the weapon was a good way to secure a one tap if you didn't have enough for an awp.
The problem is the CS community is retarded. The SG553 was fine before they buffed it, and then they over nerfed it once the community realized the gun actually had advantages over the AK. If anything the SG553 should've been made 3500 and the stats left alone. It was also originally 3000$ not 2950, 2950 is the new sitting price.
@@m4j0r3x similar but not the same Scar 17 is an assault rifle whereas the 20 is a marksman sniper, plus we've seen the scar 17 in the pax build of csgo so yeah
The problem would be the community being brainwashed into only using AK/M4 and not trying anything else, also the pros get the blame, imagine not using a TIER S scoped gun because it was 3000$ or 3300$, because "ak is better" "m4 is better" mentality without even trying those guns. Valve are also scared to make changes because the community would be furious even with minor changes.
Yeah, the community is the reason why there's barely been any new content or stuff added or changed, because there's tons of complainers (like when the R8 revolver got added and everyone went crazy over it, or tons of maps from 1.0-1.6 being cut even though they could have updated them) It's not just weapons but even maps, seriously 99% of the time I just see Dust 2
I loved mid life csgo when the UMP was practically a rifle and the rest of the guns felt somewhat viable against the main weapons such as the AKs, M4s, and AWP.
@@zgaminggallery9910m4a1 also had a 25 round mag (at the time,) the same rate of fire, and also required 2 headshots to kill. it was also double the price. The ump meta was stupid but they overnerfed the gun imo
Absolutely agreed, but I've been saying this for 10+ years and this community is by far the biggest hurdle here. When the CS2 loadouts were announced, people's immediate reaction was 'good, now I'll have less guns in my loadout so I won't accidentally buy a bad gun'. The obvious common sense argument to this is 'the bad guns are only bad because Valve failed to balance them, we should want Valve to balancce the weapons better so we have more variety', except... literally nobody was saying this. CS players want to use the same, like, 8 weapons only forever. People don't even buy the Famas anymore, it's a joke. Valve had the perfect opportunity to re-balance the guns for a shakeup with the release of CS2, but they aren't interested any more than the community is. I love playing CS Casual and using all the weapons the game has to offer, and it's cool we've had a few changes like the Dualies, but there's no reason weapons like the Sawed Off should be as useless as they are. But whatever, asking for buffs is like asking for a new Operation, or Danger Zone, or anything at all. Valve has a new game they're working on, they're done with CS2.
The problem with making any adjustments is the second anything other than the standard 5 guns becomes meta the pro players cry about it until it gets nerfed to death.
hey i said that, i hate the loadout changes in CS2, that's pretty much why i prefer 1.6 and GO, instead of (practically) removing shit guns, they should just open up the inventory and buff em instead
People don't buy the famas because it's more expensive and worse than the mp9. It has no identity except for being bad at everything, if they made burst fire as accurate as it was in 1.6 you'd have a reason to buy it. Unfortunately now it's more expensive than the mp9 with a higher time to kill AND now takes a weapon slot away from m4/a1s Aug scout awp. Gail lover famas hater here too.
its pretty good. it has good jump accuracy over the nova and lets u do fun jump peeks. it also 1 shots body reliably unlike the Nova. sawed off is a fantastic anti-lurk gun on Defuse and great for holding close quarters angles. its a niche gun for specific situations, but it can be super powerful.
Sg553 should have its fire rate set to 600 rpm, just like the ak, m4a1, and the aug. For $3000 it should be objectively better than the ak47 while not being OP. I used to be a big sg553 advocate long before it got popular. Now I only use it in niche situations like outside on nuke.
Wtf? Shouldn't expensive goods be better performance wise? You would still buy AK because of its price efficacy and safety, but SG should be better than AK if it's more expemsive.@@duganrocks100
@@EduardoLarios95 Bruh, imagine making the expensive gun shittier than the cheap gun lol. That's just your average CS player being obsessed over the AK.
Counter Strike's weapon problem lies in the community keep trying to uphold tradition for the sake of tradition, rather than be interested in changes that would be healthier for the game overall. CS players only want to use the same set of weapons over and over and over. I will always hate the CS community for what they did to the AUG and the SG. Instead of complaining that AUG is OP and needs nerf, they should try to use more tools and weapons the game has given to them. In fact... The SG is literally the answer to the AUG's problem of perceived overpoweredness. And if both were used at the same time, the meta would have shifted to become AUG/SG/AWP instead of AK/M4/AWP. But atlas... They all decided that 'muh AK' should be the best weapon in the game for arbitrary reasons, that no weapons have the right to be better than AK/M4/AWP because they can't adapt.
Yep. The CS Community is basically old white guys who refuse to accept any kind of change in ANYTHING. And if there is even a remote kind of change, they either cry it "the game is ruined forever!" when it is something they can't avoid (like balance changes) or "This is shit, don't bother" if it can be avoided (like new maps). And the new maps are especially hilarious because at the same time, the community is crying for new maps only to then REFUSE TO PLAY ON THEM because of their "precious" rank.
You are not fighting just the pros, comp players, but also the trade makers. Imagine if the meta changes? How much money would those skin collectors lose, once their beloved ak was not as popular as SG? Once the money is on the line, people will do anything to save themselves from losing it.
@@Misha4em Don't put money into pixels that you are not okay with losing I'd say. The whole skin economy is stupid anyway. Basically just a slot machine with a game on the side to flex your wins
I am in the minority, but this is exactly why I never got into CS for long. Because meta in FPS shouldn't be this limited. I wonder how is it possible that after 25 years, with so many data they didn't find logical balance. Imagine if you played chess and refused to use Tower for/example. Just because Queen is ""meta""
That's a false analogy because in chess you need all your pieces. You will never become a grandmaster in chess without using your rooks because they're still the second best piece on the board. But you can still win a CS major without ever getting a single Bizon kill in your whole career.
@@Nick-ij5nt Doesn't really help CS then. The tight "balancing' kicked Valve into foot. The item option isn't so huge that every item shouldn't have it's own specific niché use at least. I don't really see why you would design game with useless "pieces". Adding new guns never worked, because the core gameplay is stale and anything new gets into way of old school. New ideas newer catch on or get nerfed to backstage. For something this popular, at least balance stuff it's full potencial. They have the money, there is no excuse.
I remember the SG 553 being destroyed, it was my favorite gun after scout, I got called cheater so many times because it was easier to headshot with these guns, then after Valve reduced the price every pro match used SG 553 (just like the clips shows).. Then it got nerfed so hard that nowadays is unusable. Valve shouldn't have reduced their price at first place, it was a choice between more grenades or slightly better weapons.
if they nerf sg because it was used by everyone in the pro scene ... why didnt they nerf ak because it was used by everyone in the pro scene in a perfect world both sg and ak have equal rate of use (we dont live in one)
@@tj-pjwe don't live in one because the community is obsessed with AK/M4 being the best gun for no rational reason, there's just no winning when the community don't want to use anything else
@@tj-pj Because there are more ak skins than sg skins. Valve would lose money if people were less interested in ak skins. And since Gaben wants his online casino without any regulations running they rather nerf every gun than allowing the meta to change
Iirc valve around the time of the Negev, sg/aug changes were specifically playing around with adjusting gun prices without trying to change the guns to encourage people to use them - after all, it's hard to make balance changes to things that no one uses. This was a good way approaching it I think, however the problem is when they undid the price changes people realised how good the guns were and the community cried (as it always does) because they were better than an ak/m4 for not much more. This would still be according to whole price change plan. Unfortunately, instead of valve doing small balance adjustments and adjusting the prices to find the sweet spot, they backpedaled so hard that it's now unusable, as you say.
i think what could be done is increased grenade storage space for "lighter" weapons Like, why would anyone buy a P90? It gives a lot of money per kill, yes, and it's running accurate, but it still sucks if you try to compete with the rifles, and it's too expensive in the first place to justify the increased kill reward. What if you could have 2 HE grenades instead of just 1 while using SMGs? What if you could buy 3 flashbangs and a shotgun, sacrificing firepower for utility and support? And just to knock the AWP down a peg, what if you could only have 1 flashbang because the weapon is so large and heavy? What if specific weapons gave you specific nade capacity bonuses? Like, buying an MP5 gave you the ability to carry 2 smokes, while buying a MAC-10 gave you space for 2 molotovs?
That would be such a clunky change. For example, lets say you force a round with mac10 and rush, kill someone and now want to pick up their awp. First of all you have to drop your nades, decide wich to drop etc. Would feel awfull and make the game inconsistant
@@lokoo_ Make it so that the excess nades drop automatically upon dropping a weapon that allows you more or picking up a weapon that reduces the capacity. That's why AWP would only take away 1 flashbang, cuz you can have 2 of them normally, and picking it up would just drop the second one on the floor.
@@lokoo_ Or maybe even better, imagine that you can normally get like 3 flashes, 2 HEs, 2 molotovs and 1 smoke and decoy, idfk And buying weapons can ONLY reduce the nade capacity, so buying like an AK or an M4 would bring you back to the classic 2FL, 1 of everything else nade capacity
Ehh even as a person that still uses them it just felt braindead to use compared to AK and M4. I feel like people would not have as much of a problem with them if they had the weak scope of CS 1.6 or Source, but as of now the scope is way too strong
@@fica1137 it really wasn't. It was basically just like an ak or an m4. But since it was different from what the community was used to, they cried like crazy for no reason.

@@raizenxdd The Negev is an awful weapon to with. Although it sometimes can be a viable option on ct side to hold angles it's more or less useless on t side cause of the movement speed and inaccuracy of the first few shots
I agree with lower price and recoil, but the negev's suppression playstyle is better suited to the CTs, so this change would actually just make the negev even more useless.
funny thing, back when i can't play GO, i always thought Negev was always a T exclusive and M249 was a CT Exclusive, i was honestly shocked when i get to play GO
It's funny how Dota and Counterstrike are both by valve but operate entirely differently CS never changes while Dota(or Deadlock now) is constantly changing before any meta gets to form
@RealLotto Yeah, he and the Dota 2 team really changed the game over the past 10 years since 7.00. Introduction of Neutral Map Structures, Talents, Aghs Shard, Neutral Items and now recently Facets+Innates what keeps the game fresh after all these years. Sure, they had to work out the balance of these aspects, but the community is much more positve reception of the changes. The pros quickly adapted, then found new ways to play the game
There is also the issue with the limit on guns you can bring into a game. There where guns that had a niche they worked in. Now you have to make a choice on what to bring beforehand and can’t just whip out an offmeta option because it makes sense in that situation. When I have to choose between something that works 80-90% of the time vs something that only works every so often… well. Imo the worst change to cs2. I was actually hoping we could buy all guns all the time without loadout restrictions.
The mp5 situation is just so sad because its basically just a copy of the mp7 in almost every way except for a few stat differences(lower damage resulting in frequently needing 1 extra shot to kill or at long ranges multiple extra shots, it also has worse running accuracy but very slightly faster run speed) that make it worse. Is so boring that valve copied the mp7 and made minor changes to 3 stats and were like yep the mp5 you loved is back. They didnt even bother doing a new spray pattern the mp5 still has the 7 shaped pattern the mp7 uses. my solution is to buff the mp5 to match mp7 and give mp5 new spray pattern, then buff the mp7 to fill a 1800-2100$ price point. Why have 2 1500$ smgs when 1 could be moved to bridge the giant price gap between the 1500 mp5/mp7 and 2350 p90.
Nerfs and balances do not matter. What matters are roles. AK and M4 are generalists. Every other weapon has to have a situation where its better, situation where buying it gives an advantage. Making one SMG stronger or others weaker doesn't create that role, it just changes what weapon is the best option in that "SMG" role. Best CT forrce-buy weapon is MP9, Scout if you want to hold a long angle. T side it's Mac10, Galil or Scout. All SMGs have this issue. Shotguns? Nova is so cheap (and one shots at same range as other shotguns) that you can buy a pistol with it and still have money left over compared to the others. Rifle is the only well designed section, each weapon has a reason to be picked. (except autosnipers and SG). Pistols too, every pistol is used even in pro play, except for CZ and revolver.
I think a key issue people tend to miss in this discussion is that CS is at its core a fairly simple game, there just aren't that many moving parts. This IMO is one of the greatest strengths of the game, you don't have to learn 50 different characters and their special abilities, there aren't a bunch of map specific gimmick mechanics etc., but it also leads to the actual design space in the game being pretty limited. There just aren't that many game design levers to pull. That ends up meaning that there are only so many niches for weapons in the game; there isn't room for too many weapons to be viable without seriously upsetting the balance of the game, unless those weapons are similar to the point where they are variety in name only. Looking at e.g. the aug vs m4 situation, lowering the price of the aug just completely replaces the m4, because they're filling the same niche, but if we were to keep or raise the price of the aug but make it stronger, it'd quickly end up too overpowering, because there's only so much space above the strength of the m4. And lowering the price of the m4, suddenly it's just predating on the variety of the lower tier weapons, outcompeting smgs/shotguns etc, and potentially leading to a pretty degenerate meta where everyone can pick up the stronger rifles way too early, and/or never have to consider balancing getting a good primary vs utility, because you can always afford both. Having them be sidegrades would be cool, but there are only so many variables to a gun, and I'm not sure there is really a viable balance between the two where one doesn't come out clearly stronger than the other. And this doesn't just apply to m4 vs aug, but I think this ends up being the case fairly generally in the game: there can only be so many different viable weapons in the meta because of how the game at its core works, and with how narrow the design space is, changing that core or widening that design could quickly end up changing the game drastically, in ways I'm pretty sure would end up unpopular. I think at the end of the day too, while variety sounds like it'd be nice, and in many games it is, it's not something that's *inherently* good. Variety just for variety's sake either ends up being lip service, or requiring diluting the tight, simple design the game currently has, and in my opinion, prospers from.
How can a CS Pro call himself a pro, if they don't play a gun because "it's a noob gun"?! Are CS players just that unable to adapt, that they don't even consider a new tactic? Isn't like it's a super hidden tactic to just try another gun...
@@giahuynguyenkim6389the pros have also been crying about vertigo lol. a different map and they keep crying about it and want old maps back. pros never stop crying about old metas and stuff man
I remember back in the day i played a lot of AUG and Sg 553 and people were making fun of me for using "cod noob gun" or "why do you play this, ak is better" bla bla, i always knew the 2 weapons were better (at least for me) because of the scope/zoom, precision, the ROF, the spray pattern. But then the pro's decided to use them and suddenly everyone gave the weapons a chance and loved them, Valve nerfed them and now no one uses them (except me and a few others). Same with the XM1014. It's such a great weapon, but no one uses it. When i was struggling to control rifle sprays and i was getting destroyed by higher skilled players than me i decided to use the Xm. It's cheaper than a rifle, it has a high ROF compared to the other shotguns, +900 so it makes you rich fast, you can reload and cancel it to shoot someone and continue reloading + people get extremely pissed off when i killed them with it. No one used it, then youtubers said its OP in Cs2 and suddenly the spotlight was on it and they nerfed the kill reward.... When we are heavily winning or play against lower skilled players i love to buy an M249 and i actually get a lot of kills with it. But it's ridiculously expensive for what it is.... If they reduce the price it might me more viable. No idea what price is good for it though. I remember the Negev being 5700 or 5200 back in the day and now its what 1700? Why can't they lower the M249 to 4000 or 3600/3200 or something and see how much it get's used then?
One thing that should also be noted is that just having a few meta weapons all the time makes the meta as a whole more fragile and more easily exploited when new, strong weapons enter the game. The reason the sg553, revolver, etc became broken at times was not only because they were strong, but because they were strong relative to their respective alternatives. The revolver competed with only the deagle and the sg553 competed only with the ak47. If there was another alternative for these guns the meta wouldnt be as heavily affected by a gun thats just slightly better than the other.
The Revolver back in the day oneshotted in the chest. It was waaaaay over the top. It was basically a scout without a scope and its secondary fire mode was kinda like a shotgun for close quarters.
I've been playing the franchise from CS 1.5 days, and it has always been like this. IMO there is no issue with that, since it allows for smoother transition, with less effort. My main complaint is that we cannot see weapon stats(Dmg, Penetration etc..) anymore. Idk why they've went ahead and removed that
2:37 "(not incuding comp tf2 in this statement") So.... are we talking about casual cs2? This doesnt exist, and what allows tf2 weapons to be usable is the fact that tf2 is no esport or ultracompetitive piece of... a game. I can play cs casually and use any weapon just because it's different and maybe even fun
I’m pretty sure he’s putting down that message after saying it provides a “healthy and diverse weapon meta”. This is probably to do with the fact that a lot of weapons are banned in competitive tf2, which greatly limits the amount of metas to go off of
well its because casual tf2 and comp tf2 are almost different games. Balancing for comp would require completely screwing over the vastly more popular format.
Reminds me of when I started playing CSGO the first time. I always used the MP9, SG, AUG and shottys. My friend said to not play with those cause those are noob guns to which I replied everytime with "Mate. Everybody uses only M4, AK and AWP. Those are noob guns". At some point he got so angry that he quit CS for a couplebof years. Good times.
What could make a splash is if they added a CT option to add the SCAR AR. It was supposed to be in CSGO I believe but it got scrapped before release. They should add it back as a less accurate but potent CT equivalent to the AK, where it can go through a helmet and one tap, but has the accuracy of a Famas. Same with the G36 AR, which could be the first gun in the game to get the semi-auto and full auto modes for secondary fire. Both sides could get a non scoped bolt action rifle, can be fun and a useful support weapon for tagging enemies when the scout is too close to be effective. Sure you can say the pros won't use them and they'll just spam AK/M4/AWP and nothing else, and players will follow their path too, it will add choices and variety to the gameplay without changing the actual gameplay. A good sequel takes what the OG did and adds upon it. Souls games follow this and they're great. Valve just took CSGO, upgraded the engine, fucked with the servers and slapped a 2 on the game and called it a day. The core gameplay should stay the same, the gameplay variety should increase.
That's one of the aspects I liked in valorant. While val technically has fewer gun options, almost every gun there actually has it's use cases. No trash smgs, no trol shotguns, no identical pistols. And you can see in both casual and professional games - players actually have genuine options, rather than everyone sticking to an objectively best possible gun of their side. Dozens of guns to choose from, half of which are simply useless. Truly a peak of competitive gaming 👍

Aren't pros in general *expected* to like, adapt at whatever changes occur in the game faster than the rest of people? Because for what i see it doesn't really seem like "pro" players, but instead people who are just way too comfortable on using the same gun and refusing to adapt
I think most of the gun changes Valve has done have been bad. They usually have no idea what the community or pro scene needs, just look at the revolver release which was as out of touch as it gets. Bad changes: CZ nerf, while it definitely needed a nerf, they made it pretty much unusable afterwards. UMP nerf, while I'd argue it probably didn't need that big of a nerf, because the gun was a skillful gun, they did and now it's one of the worst submachine guns. I'd even go as far to say that the AWP movement nerf was bad, because it was way more fun and skillful to use back then, now it definitely is a gloryfied angle holder. Revolver was just a bad addition, nobody asked for it. AUG and Krieg should've just kept their high price and made that the trade-off. Krieg as it is now is unusable and AUG is alright but definitely not worth it at any point anymore. (this change has been forever pretty much but) first bullet accuracy and spread is a really bad mechanic in the game. Nothing skillful about it, makes some shots pure luck. It's really easy to see how terrible it is when just using deagle and trying to hit multiple targets in quick succession. Good changes: p250, it's 1shot headshot was a good change. Although its accuracy is ass, it's fitting for how cheap it is. m4a1-s price decrease, more ammo in mag in combination with that m4a4 has better firerate and more ammo but a bit more expensive, makes both viable in different scenarios. AWP down to 5 bullet per mag. While I personally dislike that you actually have to reload the thing more, it makes sense really. Before you never had to reload the entire round you played.
I believe the M249 could be balanced by receiving something like 900 bullets per magazine, this way it could be used as the definitive supression gun on the game, as the Negev runs out of ammo really fast.
I think turning it into an expensive rifle would be a better idea. The main things holding it back are the high cost and weird spray pattern, so if the recoil was reduced dramatically and the cost was reduced to 4000-4500-ish it might have a niche in shutting down rushes on a full buy.
@@nickenchugger 3kliksphilip already made a video about it. The M249 is just an expensive Famas, they are almost the same weapon. Valve would need to do something else to make it useful, not just decrease the price a bit.
@@NSchulmeister The recoil is the worst part about it since it prevents it from being good even if you have 16k. The initial spray pattern is so unusual that you wont hit anyone with bursts (at least without practicing a weapon you rarely buy) and the sustained recoil is so high that you can't spray with it either and the mag of 100 becomes redundant. It already has the advantage of being able to 1 shot headshot against armored enemies other CT rifles, so if it only got a recoil reduction it would be strong in place of M4s for teams that happen to have tons of cash. After a moderate price reduction it would be like buying a strong rifle for awp price. I don't think a comparison to the famas is informative since the famas is entirely a budget gun and the mag of 1/4th the size gives it an entirely different purpose.
They can change it's damage to be on par with ak and it would be a cool option for CT when they have loads of cash at the end of the half@@NSchulmeister
Loadout system was neat for the first few weeks but now many realize its a mistake We should be able to have access to buy any guns at the appropriate times
R8 is incredibly underrated, pocket scout for cheaper than Deagle. It's not used because no one bothers adjusting to it's shooting pattern. I currently have more kills with R8 than with Famas on Faceit
They should remove the loadout system, we already have few purchase options, I would like to buy auto sniper to troll, or negev, but I don't see any point in putting it in my loadout if not this one
There really is no reason for the M249 to be outright horrible compared to the Negev, it's disgusting on how Valve can't seem to experiment like they used too. Two changes I would appreciate is the one tap headshot, and a reduced price just to make it useable. I don't give half a fu*k if it destroys the meta, add the changes anyway.
bro i literally been saying this, there's literally no point picking any other weapon than the deagle, m4s, ak or awp because you'll either be at a massive disadvantage or people will clown you for picking "noob guns" like the autos or the aug/sg certified shit game design and this is why source is better because you can just buff the rest of the weapons via scripts
This is actually a topic that has been bothering me for a very long time now. The incredibly slow speed at which Valve changes guns that are destroying the game while also giving absolutely no love to the 50% of guns that aren't even used is a big L.
The problem is coordination on this complains, the community must focus on the complains and not scatter through all the weak weapons the game might have
The whole video is amazing, like everything, but why you gotta start the The gambling ad With “ss hey kids” when gambling for the underage is illegal XDDDD
0:36 I think that entirely new weapons should be model reskins of certain existing weapons, such as SPAS-12 model as an alternative to XM1014 (No skins for weapons which themselves are skins, btw, that would be too much, lol)
@ The m249 will never be viable because of the necessary movement speed penalty. The sawed off will also never be viable because the nova and mag7 exist. I was going to type out a full essay on why balancing the SMGs so they are all viable is a terrible decision. If you cant see why that would be a bad change to a hyper competitive game you are not worth having a discussion with as you are likely a newer/low skilled player.
Theres all the SMG's, heavy weapons and pistols but i find myself buying a desert + kevlar every round and doing way better than buying any other thing besides rifles and snipers, is quite sad we cant really use anything else
i don’t think team fortress 2 is a good comparison for counter strike because all of the side grade weapons are unique because of features that can’t be replicated in the more “realistic” setting. for example, the side grades to snipe are in no particular order 1:a gun that makes the target take crits for a couple seconds after being hit 2: a gun that can’t be hip fired 3: a gun that builds a meter with each kill that allows to to shot multiple times without unscoping 4:a gun that charges up its damage faster depending on how many kills you have additionally, gun 3 and 4 both are unique because of how they influence the charging mechanic of the sniper which is unrealistic in the first place
this doesn’t even take into account the fact that dying is much less impactful in tf2, i can afford to use a slightly worse gun that i like the concept of because my dying a couple times isn’t going to throw the game
I have been using the XM looong before people discovered it in CS:GO. You have no idea how satisfying it is to shit on high-elo players with it making them question their existence. It got nerfed, but effectively it's the one of the few counters to the people abusing the MP9. Meanwhile the MP9 is literally abused by the pro's but Valve are not acting on it. The Famas also always felt like garbage, but doesn't have its price reduced to 2000 at least to compensate for the money issues CT's might encounter currently. I know eventually the MP9 would get nerfed into the ground, but the meta is so sensitive that the slightest change could upset the already established AK 47, M4, AWP, deagle, MP9 meta. I do really hope Valve pays attention to other weapons. The changes do not need to be massive, but at least make me consider buying something over another. Make me think twice if in a given encounter I would be better with option 1 or with option 2.
The MP9 is busted. There's almost no point in buying the ump, except for that. The ump sprays slightly easier and does maybe 8 more dmg at range, but the jump accuracy outweighs anything else
they should do a random shuffle on the mid tier just to shake up the Force meta every 6 months or so, they dont have to be good, just fresh. also the Krieg needs to shoot somewhere in the middle of where it was and currently is.
Honestly it's beyond me why people play cs to this day. You've been basically playing with the same guns and on the same maps for 12 years now. I actually trully do not understand how do people not get bored of this game
The same reason why people still play chess or sports. No major rule changes in decades. Yet people still find them interesting to watch and fun to play. Multiplayer games don't really need any updates to live as long as their servers are up and their communities are alive.
CSCZ fan here, no we dont play on the same map for 12 years, plenty of those "same maps" had been removed to favor a much more competitive maps ever heard of piramesi?
People are sleeping on the M249 on CT side. You get the spray through smoke to stop a rush capability of a negev with a good enough accuracy to get one taps. If you have a surplus of money and no one to drop to, I find it to be a good choice to lock down a site.
Why do you consider it a problem? A lot of SMGs are played on the casual level. Pros can use whatever they want. Don't ruin another game just because you don't like the "meta" and crying "pro" players

Ideally, I think every weapon should have a unique use case where it outperforms most other weapons, on different map areas, price points, or play styles. Now that we have a stable meta, it wouldn't be hard IMO to slightly buff the underpowered weapons slightly, each in different ways, to achieve that. It doesn't all have to be unique like the R8, although in some cases that would definitely be appreciated. But honestly I don't get why they haven't been working on this. Adjusting the numbers a bit on some weapons is almost no development effort. It's more of a discussion & testing process, part of which they could even outsource to the community by simply asking or making an idea contest. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Valve has invested the resources in a CS dev team to come up with such ideas. Just sad.
@@soldatheero back in the day best experience on css was casual mods with random crazy maps and minigame mods(especially those that utilised source physics)
But why is it a problem that only the meta weapons are being used? The only reason I can see is that a larger variety increases skin demand and thus skin prices and Valves profit, but that isnt really something I care about.
I think for a buff, the r8 shoots snakeshot rounds, making it like a pocket shotgun, but only make the kill reward like the normal pistols and not the shotguns, or if that sucks, make the kill reward like $500. We can probably keep the clunky firing system if we want.
I'm not a CS player myself, but what caught my interest is the situation with Krieg and AUG you've described. I see that often it's assumed that pro players tested every option, and will use any advantage they can have, so whatever is meta in competitive scene, is actually the best option. But then things like that happen, and it shows that pro scene could just be pretty conservative. I've seen that happening in some other games, although none of those are as old and established as CS.

It seems like valve has a pattern of either turning a blind eye to nerfs or drives items into the ground and makes them unusable. Examples from tf2 are the sandman nerf, but a better example is how they nerfed the ambassador, but you can still do maximum crit damage from across the map with the diamondback, even though the ambassador actually requires you to do something that you normally wouldn't have to do as spy to get those headshot crits

The meta is where it needs to be at this moment. Once you get into higher elos, everyone is good with every gun but there is still a hierarchy when it comes to the weapons ( pistols -> smgs -> rifles -> awp). The reason why these nerfs happen (CZ, UMP) is because it disrupts the hierarchy. If every weapon can do every job, then it throws the entire balance and economy out the window. We see that when a pistol or smg becomes overpowered. This is most notable at higher elos. Lower elos cant exploit these weapons as efficiently so its less noticeable. The goal is to get your economy to purchase the rifles/awp not the other way around.

Instead of complaining that AUG is OP and needs nerf, they should try to use more tools and weapons the game has given to them. In fact... This was a good way approaching it I think, however the problem is when they undid the price changes people realised how good the guns were and the community cried (as it always does) because they were better than an ak/m4 for not much more. This would still be according to whole price change plan.
Unfortunately, instead of valve doing small balance adjustments and adjusting the prices to find the sweet spot, they backpedaled so hard that it's now unusable, as you say.
i think what could be done is increased grenade storage space for "lighter" weapons
Like, why would anyone buy a P90?

Yep, that is indeed a CS Pro. They are awful at adapting to changes and just cry when they need to adapt.
You sound dumb
@@giahuynguyenkim6389the pros have also been crying about vertigo lol. a different map and they keep crying about it and want old maps back. pros never stop crying about old metas and stuff man
If you had a deeper understanding of macro in CS then you’d understand why vertigo is a in competitive map.

Idk why they've went ahead and removed that
Having a rifle meta is fine… the sg is also a rifle tho
This is very frustrating. Valve doesn’t care, they make insane money on children gambling.
The sg would be used more if they didn't fucked up the scope dot

So.... are we talking about casual cs2? This doesnt exist, and what allows tf2 weapons to be usable is the fact that tf2 is no esport or ultracompetitive piece of... a game. I can play cs casually and use any weapon just because it's different and maybe even fun
I’m pretty sure he’s putting down that message after saying it provides a “healthy and diverse weapon meta”. This is probably to do with the fact that a lot of weapons are banned in competitive tf2, which greatly limits the amount of metas to go off of
@@yagberdonsik7188 actually, a couple dozen weapons are banned, and usually for good reason.

At some point he got so angry that he quit CS for a couplebof years. Good times.
Kinda seems like people would just cry for a nerf if any non meta gun gets buffed.
True enough. Though they still nerf guns into the ground the moment they get more use than intended.

I tried to play CSGO, ran into some dude with an M4 and missed all my shots from 3 feet away. Game is broken.
I think most of the gun changes Valve has done have been bad. They usually have no idea what the community or pro scene needs, just look at the revolver release which was as out of touch as it gets.
Bad changes:
CZ nerf, while it definitely needed a nerf, they made it pretty much unusable afterwards.
Good changes:
p250, it's 1shot headshot was a good change.
They can change it's damage to be on par with ak and it would be a cool option for CT when they have loads of cash at the end of the half@@NSchulmeister

i don’t think team fortress 2 is a good comparison for counter strike because all of the side grade weapons are unique because of features that can’t be replicated in the more “realistic” setting. for example, the side grades to snipe are in no particular order
1:a gun that makes the target take crits for a couple seconds after being hit
2: a gun that can’t be hip fired
3: a gun that builds a meter with each kill that allows to to shot multiple times without unscoping
4:a gun that charges up its damage faster depending on how many kills you have
additionally, gun 3 and 4 both are unique because of how they influence the charging mechanic of the sniper which is unrealistic in the first place
this doesn’t even take into account the fact that dying is much less impactful in tf2, i can afford to use a slightly worse gun that i like the concept of because my dying a couple times isn’t going to throw the game

I have been using the XM looong before people discovered it in CS:GO. You have no idea how satisfying it is to shit on high-elo players with it making them question their existence. Just sad.

Still find it insulting how the most popular and successful game in the world has the most boring gunplay and little to no diversity of them all.
