The Weapon That Doesn't Belong in Counter-Strike (And Why It Works)

The SSG 08, or Scout, is one of the most beloved weapons in the Counter-Strike franchise. And yet it has some of the strangest attributes of any gun in the game. Single-fire, scoped, and high movement accuracy in a game known for spray patterns and limited movement makes the Scout one of the most intriguing weapons from a balancing perspective.

Counter-Strike's Weapon Problem
มุมมอง 175K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Thanks to SkinsMonkey for sponsoring this video! Check them out here: skinsmonkey.com/r/WATZU Counter-Strike has a weapon problem, and I’m not talking about any of the meta weapons. Sure the MP9’s jumping ungodly accuracy is annoying and a good AWPer can feel oppressive, but when the rest of the weapons are just so much worse than the meta options, it certainly doesn’t help. When a pro player d...

I was upset because I thought I lost my spray after switching to cs2 and it turns out I was lost this short came up and I was able to get my spray back thank you very much
I like aggressive awping, for some reason I’m better at hitting flicks than hitting when I have good crosshair placement
I'm an mp5 main
Naaa just change the m cord and turn left thats it...
How do you not have more subs?
I used to play CS 1.6 with 640x resolution. Now I’m using native in CS2 and half. Resolution doesn’t matter but native is the most Optimal for brain eye coordination as there is no unnecessary stretch involved
Its easy to make a weapon thats worse than say the ak. Its easy to make a weapon thats better than the ak. Whats hard is to make a gun that situationally is more or less useful and therefore can be a good pick but isnt always.
Only Allah is god
This was a great video for a silver like me! Also, the decoy sounds for the XM are so loud when you’re close to the decoy that it’s hard to hear anything else. It really annoyed me when an enemy team used those haha
Hate that it says "clipsize". AK-47's don't fucking have clips.
wait yall tilt the mouse to control recoil? my dumbass has been moving the mouse horizontally this whole time
i use 16:10 res
Bro, i turned on 4:3 for the first time yesterday, and i now have a 10+ win streak 50/50 between wingman and comp for the first time ever.
1vs5 ? fack it, try clutch, even if u loose, you build confidence, its a video-game after all. only save crucial rounds
I like the mp5 :c
My role is the entry die guy, as my team baits me and doesn't even get the trade.
whaaaaaaaaaaat? they shifting their wrist with front anchor. O_o i literally move the whole hand and mouse for it.
Issuu is my enemy ziggle
3:36 nobody calls it that lil bro
Negev price change was groundbreaking tho
Theoretical aim practise, jeez. Its muscle memory ffs. Just play the game. Id you dont master it after 500hours, you simply dont got the flair for the game. Simple
i have nearly 2000 hours into scout, rush & die in cs2. i wanted to become like scouter but i just die. no happy end here.
12:15 no, they did not. They either say nothing, one guy "there" or wait for me to die because i had no info and then proceed to say: "BRO HOW DID YOU NOT KILL HIM I HIT HIM FOR x ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED!!1!!?"
Mp9 is annoying af
FAKE NEWS!! The mp5, R8 and M249 are great weapons if you take in to account the emotional damage they deal. Use them together with a few carfully selected lines of smacktalk and they deal more damage than any awp or ak47 could ever dream of. These guns are closers. Dumb noob
Imo adding new weapon would be only good if it is an alternative option to the glock or ak. But yeah I never understood why is the game so badly balanced. They could delete the entire mid tier only leaving the auto shotty, and both mp9/ma10 and most people wouldnt even notice it. Oh and they should rebalance the M4s, because for the price it is ridiculously bad. Like saving for multiple rounds to finally pay 2,9-3k to have a sligthly better rifle than the galil is insane. To be fair, Im not even sure they are even better than the galil overall.
The game has reached perfect balance
Kind of annoying you spent half the video talking two guns that are actually good and get used. Then spent the rest of the video barely touching on the M249, Revolver, and MP5 and didn't even mention the PP Bizon or Sawed Off which are all guns that are actually trash tier and need a buff.
old cs was faster damn
I do the prefire peek all the time its so satisfying when it hits
You left out the fact that the AWP was nerfed by halfing the magazine capacity. AWPs used to have 10 rounds per mag but are now reduced to 5
1600 e-dpi is crazy, lmao.
Tec 9 is still a 1 tap at close ranges. Fake news. It's also still incredibly powerful.
The R8 isn’t bad lmao, it’s just underused. At medium range, can easily two tap or a single HS. For 600 credits. Great for ECO rounds, just not the most versatile due to being rather tricky to use at close range.
One of the reasons I always avoided playing CS is that from an outsider's perspective it looked stale. Every single clip I saw coming out of the game's community looked like the one that came before. It seemed like one of those games where matches blur together as very unmemorable. That said, I don't think shaking up the meta like crazy is the way too go. Once a game gets old enough, everything including the flaws become sacred. Half of the weapons being downright unviable is part of this game's identity at this point. Why would the players who spent 2000 practicing spray patterns for the AK want to relearn their muscle memory for the M249? One of the issues with catering to new players over old players, is that new players haven't played the game yet and form their opinions based on what is being said. And the people saying things are the old players. So even if they do release some crazy cool meta shattering things that might appeal to me, someone who has never played CS more than an hour, I will probably only hear bad things about it from the anti-change brigade. This is why I really dislike the game industry's new practice of using sequels to replace the original. If CS2 launched but kept CS:GO a standalone game, then CS2 would be free to be more experimental while the stale tryhards could still have CS:GO as their fallback comfort food. But now that CS:GO is effectively gone, CS2 needs to cater to CS:GO players. If I was a CS2 developer, I'd keep the bad weapons bad tbh.
lol no, CS is would become call of duty 2.0 if other weapons became meta, the skill requirement for the meta rifles and awp is what makes CS what it is, it doesn’t need to be changed
Solo que sucks I end up top fraggin and my team is just so nub and they be lurking and baiting…I’m level 3 and stuck asf maybe for eternity
There's literally no problem in having meta weapons, it doesn't cause much balance issues and it allows for fun plays with stupid and unused weapons Smash Melee has like 6 viable characters and it never was a problem
mag 7 is best gun
Thanks for vud
i'm not very knowledge on the fandom, but don't cs playes hate change?
For the love of god, meta is not an acronym
Aren't pros in general *expected* to like, adapt at whatever changes occur in the game faster than the rest of people? Because for what i see it doesn't really seem like "pro" players, but instead people who are just way too comfortable on using the same gun and refusing to adapt
Thank you for giving TF2 some respect. It means a lot to me. I share your sentiment. I actively avoid the meta and try to see what I can do with the other weapons. As a result, I constantly ask myself "What's the point in playing the game if there are only five weapons?" The only answer I can think of is "aim training." I didn't pick up the game to point-and-click, just like how I didn't pick up fighting games to hold block or shield. When I pick up an AK, I consistently get kills. I don't have to jump through hoops like I do with all other weapons. The game actively encourages me to the META and punishes me for trying new things. When I first looked at the weapon data, I was perplexed how arbitrarily clunky half of them were. I noticed and hypothesized how many weapons could be used to the best of their abilities, but in practice they almost always fell short.
W ror2 music
I miss my SSG. I got good with it when literally everyone thought it was a terrible gun.
Bro we've been here before, there has definitely been era where a different weapon from the established m4 and ak was good and guess what, the game sucked during those times, the meta is the way it is because its good and doesnt break the game's delicate balance, quit your yapping.
At least they don’t add Fred frud fedy fast bare because he uhh he will bite you and eat the your pentis of
Huge appreciation for the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack in the background
