We used to visit him in the winter, when he had all his animals in cages in a big barn. He had two young chimps together in one cage. I was feeding them oranges -- but I was clearly giving more to one than the other, because he was more personable and interested in interacting with me. In a rage, the other one shot him arm through the bars and grabbed me by the hair! I let out a yell, and the owner came running. When I told him what happened he "ordered" that chimp to put his hand out and shake hands with me, LOL. He did so, but he turned his face away as he did it, as if to say "You can make me shake hands, but I still hate that son of a bitch!"

The look on the chimp's face was something like a smirk but maybe I just remember it that way. All I know is that if those cage bars broke they would have torn me apart. Its really scary to look into the eyes of another intelligent animal and see calculated hate.

It got apparently ripped by his mother. Afterwards he scratched it that much that he lost his whole ear. One day they go crazy, other days they entertain their love interest. My parents friend owned a mountain lion back in the 90s. (Not sure he was actually supposed to have it.) Attacked my mom and was getting way to big for the house. They raised him like a dog. Years later hed go to the sanctuary to visit him and the mountain lion would immediately recognize 😮him. Very interesting bond.
