TE-01 is absolutely the best built out of the 3. There’s no comparison. The paint and pose ability is fantastic on MP-44. But build wise it’s an easy win for TE. Magic square isn’t even in the runnning. It’s just a slightly upgraded MP-10.
mp-44 loses on backpack but wins on everything else, including appearance, paint, sculpt, and poseability. I have them both, love them both, but mp-44 is an absolute knockout
@@spicymanmeat3051 You know, after 7 months, seeing this with a more blank slate, I still think Magic Square is my preferred overall. If MS had the same paint apps as MP or TE with a bit of shine, MS would be straight up 10/10 for me. I prefer a more bulky Prime, and I definitely prefer the head.
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
Why is MP 44 so loose and all the panels, had him in hand this weekend. He should be more solid for such a high cost. That being said great review, I'm truly satisfied with my TE Prime now.
out of the 3 TE01 is the best especially for the price but i think he beats magic square just because magic square i feel is meant to compete with mp10 rather then mp44
Thanks for the excellent comparison video. The cheapest I could get MP-44 in the UK was £450 and there's no way I'm paying that for a toy! I don't care about the trailer (MP-10 last saw his when I took him out of the box) and I've no interest in lights and sounds, I'm not 10. I've never put batteries in Megatron or either of my Quakeblasts, so again, waste of money for me. So seeing that backpack and the mess that is the alt mode I'm glad I didn't go in on this. I'd rather save my cash for Blackarachnia and Lio Convoy. I really like OP Leader and am just waiting for Show.Z to get him back in stock so I can get him and the Shattered Glass repaint. I'll likely grab a Black Convoy too. Again, thanks for the review, I really enjoy these!
@@jazz-meister Honesty can't remember, I've not looked at it since it first went up for pre-order, but I thought that was the price on Kapow. Maybe I'm misremembering, like I said I've not looked at it for months. Even at £360 it's too much money, I can't justify that price for a toy, no matter how good it is. And let's face it, this is not that good. I'm usually first to defend Takara but this one, in my opinion, is indefensible, that alt mode is a mess! I used to be a 100% official collector and I am still mostly happy to pay the asking price for the Beast Wars figures, but even I'm starting to feel the price gouging! Add to that Unicron and Hasbro's refusal to sell outside of America, I'm now much more interested in 3P figures. I'll see what the Chinese companies do with MP-44 and if they fix the issues, remove the gimmick and reduce the price I'll look at it again. In the meantime I'm happy enough with MP-10 and will likely get TE-01 when he's back in stock as I do like the cartoon accuracy. Thanks for replying though. 😊
In my honest opinion, MP44 wins this one. I know he’s expensive, but he (in my opinion) looks the best, has the most to him, and has the best posability.
I would say personally TE OP Leader is 99% to 95% animation accurate the only thing that throws it off for me is the silver buttplate that becomes the bumper on the waist and the truck bed in the alt mode and MP-44 is 90% accurate the backpack size really puts it off for me and the amount of kibble in truck mode so I'd personally go with the Transform Element OP Leader any day over both these figures even the matrix Chamber in TE OP Leader is animation accurate. MS-01 tries to be a better MP-10 and it is in my opinion and TE OP Leader tries to rival MP-44 and I think it succeeds there the price is worth it whereas MP-44's price is way too high for really only adding voice lines, Animation accuracy, and more articulation to MP-10, but TE OP Leader does the same thing for a better price and the only thing you really miss out on is voice lines really.
Great video! Definitely imo the MP-44. But to be honest, he's just way overpriced. I mean he should be more like $220 tops. Am not gonna lie imo the other 2 are much cleaner. MP-44 looks a bit gapy, around the waist, the knees, back of the legs and the feet. Not to mention from the side and back it seems like there's alot going on. I saw a video where they pointed out he doesn't align right when look from the sides. Personally I think they should of skipped the sound effects and focus more on cleaning him up. Definitely an amazing figure! ...and will pick him up once I can find him for a decent price. :0)
The core figure of Op Leader wins overall over MP44 imho. I will have both but MP44 isn't here yet. People I trust assure me Op Leader is made better. I'm guessing it's not better quality per say but likely due to MP44's complexity & parts count. From all these reviews it's clear MP44 suffers from gaps, panels, screws, & pins everywhere imo. Op Leader's truck mode murders MP44 as does it's profile from the sides & back. To be fair MP44 wins from the front view in bot mode. I prefer the windows in shape & I prefer how they are more difficult to see through. I prefer MP44's arms as well. It obviously kills OP Leader in accessories but you pay for them. You can buy OP Leader 3.5 times so is it worth it? I can't answer that but either of those 2 will basically look the same on a shelf so I'd go Op Leader if your collection is mostly for display. If your the type to take pictures & pose around a figure a lot MP44 would be more expressive & his accessories would also shine.
i disagree with a lot of things on the mp-44. every one gives him the hands down win just because it`s takara. bah for that price it should have been done like TE-01 much cleaner not panaly looking and falling apart specially at the knees i have read. yeah i will give the articulation too mp-44 but coloring it`s a 50/50 i rather not have to worry about my figures peeling every time i go to touch him. i think the paint scheme on the TE looks fine it just drives me crazy about all the rose color glasses lot of folks seem to be wearing.i do think it looks great and i`m hoping for a KOof mp-44 so they might fix all the issues that this version has. that`s my 2 cents
I like TE01 better cause it is unpainted which means there is less paint to chip, its good for it's price, its solid no knee breakage, a transformation which doesn't make you want to smack yourself, etc mp44 is good in some area but TE01 is better.
Don't agree with statement of the backpack on mp-44 being "a functional choice", its definitely "A choice" not sure what kind of batteries it takes, but for sure could be done with tiny button cell batteries. The huge backpack isn't toon accurate anywhere I can find, especially compared to TE and MS. I hate to rip on the backpack, buts its one of the few gripes I have with mp-44. Its not unforgivable, as most of the time it is displayed from the front, but does ruin a lot of dynamic poses imo. I definitely think this shows the divide between Takara is much narrower to competition and no longer always the 'ultimate' or 'definitive'. Its the official version for sure, and it does tons of stuff right, but the dwindling are the days where the Masterpieces are the 'definitive' that blow away all competition. If TE was the one with the backpack, the messy back of the legs on robot mode and messy back of the truck in cab mode, it would be super criticized, but MP-44 gets a pass (partially because sculp/proportions and paint are amazing, and bias towards 'the official'). I think If I had to chose one between the two in a world where they two bots (trailer aside) were the same price, I would choose the TE because it cleans up better. I think the question it comes down to is this: Is paint, and slightly better proportions (and a trailer) worth those negative tradeoffs for the MP-44 for you? and and extra $250(+)? For me, the are all pretty close IF they were at the same price for all 3 cabs. I place a trailers value at maybe $100 max being really high, so I don't think $150+ is worth it for a figure that has problems mentioned (plus issues with knees). I think even with the ko being about the same as TE / MS, its still a tough call. (ko trades paint for fixed knees)
MP-44 looks a lot more dynamic since there are not really any “boxy” parts. And I prefer the waist & thighs of MP-44 over TE-01 because it’s a bit better filled out 🤷🏾♂️
