Jacksonville, Florida was one hell of a music combine in the late 60’s early 70’s. ..Skynyrd. Outlaws..Blackfoot.,Hatchett..38 Special. Exciting times for this old man..
Yes yes yes in my opinion this song is one of the best Rock songs ever The transition from Slow Rock leading to Hard Rock very smoothly Plus 3 guitars playing Lead/Rythem that made this song very special.. Even after so many years I still like to listen I am 70 now.. Regards from Indonesia❤
It's a highway song. Hell yeah. Alsby baby here. I love roll n roll forever baby. I love it. Single and turning 61. Throw down. Country roads Budweiser and a joint. ❤ Love you rocking with you in 2024. Carbon Hill, Alabama girl
Couldn't Greg T. and Charlie find a better singer than Bobby Barth? Simply dreadful. Never liked Jay Johnson but he shines here. I can completely understand why Rick Medlock shut these guys down.
I got to see Blackfoot back in 1982, with their original line up as Medlocke, Walker, Hargrett, and Spires. I remember when they played "Highway Song" everybody converged to the stage it was like one huge family. It was awesome to feel the love, Rock on ..
That's how rock n' roll should be played. Loud, raw and from the heart. Like many, I am a huge Rickey Medlocke fan. However, I enjoy good music for what it is. Charlie, Greg, and the guys who labored in the trenches have my respect.
Oh god this is the loudest finale we're ever going to need. Great bunch of guitar notes this is great. I love Blackfoot, with or without Rickey this band rocks hard!
This is one of the best live versions of this song. And you don't need Rick Medlocke to be a band. This kicks it properly. Rickey is over jammin' his arse off with Skynyrd and that's cool. This was great.
I've got something to say about all this 'no Ricky = no Blackfoot' hate. I've been a southern rock fan and musician for over 40 years and Blackfoot is still one of my favorites. So Medlock goes and joins Skynyrd, so what? Does that mean Charlie Hargrett and Jackson Spires can't perform anymore without him? Both have earned their place and shouldn't be denied the chance to make a living and entertain all of their fans. There's no argument from me that Ricky is a great vocalist and synonymous with Blackfoot songs, but how can you deny Charlie and Jackson from keeping the music alive, especially since Ricky gives them his blessing? I had the honor of playing with Charlie a couple times in small jams and I have to say he's one of the most dedicated guitarist and performers. There's no logical reason why he shouldn't be able play his music along side band mate Jackson Spires under the 'Blackfoot name. Both have more than earned the right. It's their passion, we're lucky we can still enjoy the live performances.
I had the great opportunity to party with Blackfoot at McGuffys in Dayton Ohio..got a drumstick signed by all the members including Rick Medlock...what an awesome time that was...will always love this band
Good job , Bobby does this song justice . Ricky has his own Blacfoot thing on the side. Charlie still kills it ,man what a song up there with freebird and stairway.
Wow, I did NOT know BOBBY BARTH sang for a version of Blackfoot- I "know" Bobby from AXE \m/ \m/ Some GREAT tunes they put out but didn't last due to one of the guys killed in a motorcycle wreck, if memory serves me; Saw them I THINK in '83, El Paso TX, they opened for Cheap Trick, and I thought blew them away! I had already bought a Cheap trick t-shirt and as soon as AXE was done I went straight to the merch table to see a couple of the guys were out there already, and I told them how great I thought their set was, and asked if I could TRADE a Cheap Trick shirt for one of THEIRS, and one of the guys nodded to the merch guy and I got an AXE shirt - been to what must be 1000+ shows, and THAT is still one of my favorite memories. Thanks, Bobby, for keepin on rockin \m/ \m/
I saw them open up for REO Speedwagon around 1980 .I had no idea who they were, but I was blown away. REO did rise to the occasion, but it was one of my favorite concerts of all time and I've seen quite a few
Many a night on the highway and chills ran through my spine as my foot got heavier and heavier. Got pulled over one night, the trooper heard the radio and he chuckled and said,"Try to slow it down. Have a good night.". No where's your ID or anything. I thanked him and drove away. Great memory!
They sounded great!! But I tend to agree about the original Blackfoot, but it’s not Rickey there is no Thunderfoot ! Jackson Spiers you might want to do a little research and see just who all wrote those hit classic songs!.. God Bless his soul.. These guys are keeping Blackfoot alive...
When you look around there are almost no classic bands with their ORIGINAL members. I say thank god they are still outvthere keeping the music alive. Time marches on. Rock On Bro'.
Blackfoot, Mountain, Alaska, Mamas boys, Scorpions Meatloaf, UFO, Deep Purple, Knebworth '85 one of the wettest greatest days of my life, and one of the best memories was the hail of water bottles directed at Phil Mogg from UFO when he complained people were throwing them, and threatened to walk off, always brings a hearty laugh
Great song, great band. Bobby Barth isn't that good in this video but he is a great singer/guitar player. I love Axe! I wish Medlocke would play with the guys again.
Not bad for a bunch of old guys ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

As the saying goes, it's worth being old now to have been young then. We didn't appreciate how special it was but sure do now!
Amen. Southern rock headquarters👍🎼🙏🏻
Correction: The Outlaws were from Tampa.
@@philipwalker7535 Thanks.. I was in the right state though 🤪

Definitely one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time Blackfoot is one of the best bands
Couldn't Greg T. and Charlie find a better singer than Bobby Barth? Simply dreadful. Never liked Jay Johnson but he shines here. I can completely understand why Rick Medlock shut these guys down.
The original setup was much better
Love this song ❤

Bobby Barth isa badass guitarist as well as any of them. Been listening to him since the first Axe album/cassette.
Real rock, from a time when we were on fire with it...
And a song that touches the heart of every traveller
~Papa Greywolf
For me: 100% best version of this song! Awesome guitarplayers
Blackfoot should have had a lot more recognition Greatest band ever but I love alot of music Ricky medlock Great singer & song writer!!!!!!!
Nothing but bad ass to the bone… keep on rocking
man when the southern boys played felt it in your bones.
Florida boys ! Skynyrd, Molly, Outlaws, rock Savatage, Shinedown, Stranger, ( Greg Billings Band ) many more.
This is one of the best live versions of this song. And you don't need Rick Medlocke to be a band. This kicks it properly. Rickey is over jammin' his arse off with Skynyrd and that's cool. This was great.
I HAVE WORN OUT SEVERAL COPIES OF THIS IN VINYL WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. THANK GOD FOR THIS TALENT
Hell yes vinyl!
The old groups didn't have the Internet, text messaging, video games and 500 color TV stations, like kids today. They practiced their asses off.
Glad I grew up when I did 😌
Holy FUCK!!!!!!! That dude can play that fuckin' guitar!!!!!!!!
K
Blackfoot anthem to bring them up to Skinards freebird ... Outstanding.

Damn! It’s probably been 40 years since I last heard that; still one of the great mainstream guitar riffs of all time IMO. Just wow.
I really miss this band!
Gotta love it..no bs stage stuff..just stacks of marshalls and mics...perfect
Charlie really knows how to play that guitar...
I had the great opportunity to party with Blackfoot at McGuffys in Dayton Ohio..got a drumstick signed by all the members including Rick Medlock...what an awesome time that was...will always love this band
Damn!!! I'm jealous
Not sure why there's so much hate here. We all love Medlocke and it sucks he wasn't fronting this tour, but Barth is an incredible vocalist.
Huh
Ask
Blake That’s just what TH-cam does best, unfortunately. Empowers the powerless, gives voice to those with nothing to say.
Greg T's a friend of mine and I'm proud to say that. I have some good stories to tell... maybe someday soon.
GREAT performance!!!!! I don't care if it's the pope singing it. If he sings it this good he got my thumbs up. Good job men y'all sound GREAT!!!!
If that don't wet your whistle nothing will. This song and train train is some of the finest music you will ever hear. Great bunch of dudes
It’s about the music, not who is playing it... they did amazing on the song and did it justice. Keep on rockin fellas!

Jay Johnson is a fantastic guitar slinger, as a fellow musician I give him all the props.
