Maynard and Billy are both old. It's difficult to cover Ozzy faithfully. He has one of the most unique voices in rock history. People used to criticize it until you try to sing one of his songs yourself.
Ozzy is excellent with a one of a kind voice, but Dio gave him a run for his money. Sabbath was lucky that lightning struck twice when they performed with Dio after Ozzy's departure.
The lead singer of Night Stalker is pretty close, check out the song Sweet Knife. I thought it was a newer sabbath song that I’d never heard when it hit on my random Apple Music playlist.

I met the prince of Darkness as a very young man in the 80s in a Tower Record in Seattle prior to his concert signing autographs. He was wearing a white tuxedo. I was stuck by how sad he looked as fans shouted "rock on Ozzy, lets go" he never even looked up. I walked to him shyly and said to him "It's pleasure to meet you Mr. Osborne" he stopped looked up at me and thrust his hand into mine and said "Well it's a pleasure meeting you..." and I said my name" and said "Indeed Eric it is" and signed my Speak of the Devil album and did another on the inside sleaving. Such an amazing person. He changed my life. God Bless you John Osborne.

This shows Wolfgang is not only a very good guitar player but also a true professional. He could have taken the easy route and improvised that solo, but he recognized how iconic it was, he took the time to learn it nearly note for note and play it well. He did Randy justice. I think Randy would have gotten a kick out of this, seeing his ex rival's son playing his solo.
My mom was pregnant with me when my parents saw Black Sabbath at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in March 1972...six weeks before I was born. Technically that was my first concert.
I don’t cry over many musicians dying but I honor them the rest of the week I 100% will cry for Ozzy and Jo or him for a month He’s just that important
I’m so relieved that he was finally put in the rock and roll hall of fame! I voted so many times during the voting period and just can’t believe it took this long for him to be inducted as a solo artist! We love you ozzy and congratulations!
I had tears in my eyes! We love you so much Ozzy! Your solo career was my childhood (I found out about Black Sabbath later)… Ozzy, you are SO OVERDUE for this moment. Your fans, but me personally… I was so happy to see you there in person to accept this honor and you were so cool to include all of your family and Randy too… You are a class act man, crazy as you are… have no doubt… I am 52 and since I was 12 Ozzy has been a fixture in my life… thank you Ozzy… you are truly loved… 🤘🏻❤️ congratulations. Well done!
This is him in for his solo work, he was in before with Black Sabbath. The R&R HoF always seems to take forever. I mean, it took them how many decades to finally induct Rush only a few years ago?
@@daydragoon331 that’s all because of Jan Weiner, the guy who started Rolling Stone magazine. He was on the board until last year and he hated metal. I was born in 1990, years after Ozzy's hey day, but by 2002 I was fully converted. Went to Ozzfest twice with my Dad; saw the original line up of Sabbath, saw Black Label Society, and of course Ozzy's band. Met Zack at a CD signing event, had a picture taken with him, and he signed my guitar. Used to draw "OZZY" on my knuckles when I was in middle school. Same time as his TV show was airing. What an impact Ozzy had on my life. Glad to see he finally got inducted!
Only show I missed of his was The End tour. As I was in the hospital/rehab for over a year ! Had "10 tickets too. Well we did. Had to give it to my cousin, as "family had the other 9 tickets. Been seeing every show I can now of everyone! From "Willie" to Korn ! Congratulations! OZZY - the Prince of Darkness! Some of the Best shows in my life 🤘

@@MessyMessier83 That sounds awful and frightening. I guess you're describing more like 1996? The 90s concerts sound crazy. Seeing Zakk come out there brings back good memories. I don't care what people might say about him, he is an expert at what he does, he found his place and has nurtured that for decades, a true metal god.
To see Maynard up there singing ozzy warmed my soul...he cant do it like ozzy but idgaf. Wolfgang highly under rated too...dude can play tf out of anything

@jasondarling absolutely agreed. I fronted a bar band years ago, I had pretty good range. We practised Ozzy songs day & night & I couldn't help but blow out my voice. Just couldn't do it. When Ozzy came out the first song was Paranoid and someone picked me by my beltloop and i was crowd surfing . They ended up throwing me over the front gate . I was in between the stage and the railing . All of the sudden i looked up and Ozzy threw a 5 gallon bucket of water right on me . I was screaming that i was just babtised by the OZZMAN !!!

My uncle introduced me to metal about 40 years ago with Maiden and Ozzy (both solo and Sabbath) and I still listen to them to this day.
This is fucking awful.
It's difficult to cover Ozzy faithfully. He has one of the most unique voices in rock history. People used to criticize it until you try to sing one of his songs yourself.
He’s not “Eddie’s kid” anymore. He’s Wolfgang Van Halen. He’s amazing. He rocks.
He made his own name.!!!!
That, and he's 33 years old. Hardly a kid! (And yes, he is awesome.)
