My understanding is that capacitors have resistance related to their charge, as opposing charges build up on the two plates, as well as an equivalent series resistance (ESR) that acts like a resistor in series with the capacitor.

To the point where they asked me in depth about the hobby in my interview. I'm also allowed to use their equipment in my spare time for my own repairs now so I'm attempting to learn to do some PS3 frankenstein repair with their professional reballing machine
Nice fix again Steve. I would recommend using a soldering iron for mounting the 2-contact chip components instead of the hot air station. First clean at least the other pad with solder wick, add fresh solder to one of the pads, reflow one end of the component to that pad while holding it in place with tweezers and then solder the remaining pad with fresh solder. This way there's a smaller risk of launching the chips due to the air flow and also to overheat or burn adjacent parts.

I bought one of these for my friend's son for Christmas. He loves it and uses it for editing his own videos and occassional streaming. Came in very useful during his 30 hour 100k marathon stream.

Might be interesting content to see the effect on different resistance, capacitance and maybe inductance measurements made while at a range of temperatures to see by what degree the readings might vary. Also, when checking caps and resistors when the board has been used and so is holding charge and may well confuse the multimeter.
When reading capacitors in resistance you will get a charge/discharge reading depending on polarity. The meter injects a small voltage when reading. Once charged with DC voltage it will charge then read as open. That's why you get the beep. It charges for a brief moment then reads open once the cap is fully charged. I'm an industrial electrician, i have to do this stuff all the time. I work on komatsu 4100 electric shovels. Lots of big capacitors we have to check.
Steve, I've said previously that meters on continuity will beep as you charge/discharge capacitors. So don't worry if you get a short beep, it's normal.
That was an easy fix Steve. . . as you yourself said. I learnt something and went a way happy but maybe pump up the video output a bit. I guess that keeping 'em coming is how you grow the channel/subs no?
Steve! Please remember this little capacitor things is for CAPACING the ENERGY that flows thru your tester pins TO. So, when you shortly testing smd capacitors it is okay they are beeping at start for few seconds untill tester pins CHARGES capacitor, then fully working and charged capacitor stop beeping cause his resistance grows! So, do not test capacitors short time (even more - capacitors must be unsolded to test them correctly!), just test them 10 more seconds!
Nice fix! Been a fan for a long time and never asked - what is that yellow bear that appears on-screen for like 5 frames and says something monosyllabic?
Replacing both those caps was probably a good idea anyway, just in case the other one was going to fail at some point too? (Thus you have pre-emptied it, so it won't need to be replaced so soon in the future!).
It's far easier to use a soldering iron to remove those SMD caps (and resistors) it takes literally 2 seconds rather than farting around with a hot air gun and risking blowing other components off the board.
I actually managed to guess one correctly for once, from what I know the whole windows not knowing a usb was plugged in was a bit of a giveaway that something was wrong along the power input section thingy (real technical term)

I mentioned once before when working with such tiny components place a toothpick or something else small and tape it down that way it won't blow away.
THey do make Surface mount component Heated Soldering Tweezers. No air needed. I luv them
