This one really shows your growth. Diagnosing issues when things dont go as expected, reballing, and just the overrall ability to repair and understand what is going on. Great job! Took this one from the dump and turned it into something that can be appreciated again.
Man you have come such a long way since I started watching you. Considering how that fan plug was when you started, the repair is immaculate. Favorite repair channel!
Posted my first comment before I finished the video. Holy crap you got the console working! I think this is the best repair I've seen by you so far. Excellent job bro!
Your vids inspired me to have a go at some SMD rework - my goodness you don't half make it look easy, but I got there in the end. I've learned a huge amount from your channel, thanks!
This was in a few words, the best damn win that sally has had, in terms of skillful recovery from what anyone else would consider a game shattering disaster.... Well done, we are all loving the progress along this wonderful journey. So inspiring and so honest. Keep it up :)
This was absolutely amazing to watch! To me, this is like watching an advanced surgeon perform a complex heart surgery. You're not only brilliant but you also explain very nicely and concisely what you are doing. Cheers!
My first time watching any of your content... I feel like I showed up in the 9th inning to watch an all-star hit a grand slam for a walk-off home run. You are amazing at this. I really appreciated your detailed explanations. This was also the first time I've seen a reball too.
I am in complete awe! I had no idea you could repair consoles like that. They ought to give you an honorary surgeon's license, such a steady hand and great knowledge. Subscribed.
Hi there Joey, I wanted to mention that in a Video Card Repair channel called NorthWestRepair. He demonstrated using a clear UV mask which cures really fast and hard and also has the added benefit of seeing how it has been repaired and how. The UV light can get under a connector (or whatever) and cure it completely. It doesn't look as pretty as the Mechanic Green, Red, Black and Blue. But the clear UV Mask works so much better. It may be worth looking into. You could always put a thin coat of green on top of the clear after to make it look better, but that is entirely up to you. Cheers!
Lovely to see someone in the UK doing this, as its always US content on here! If I wanted to learn how to repair my own stuff, where would I even start to learn things? Not for a business/service, just to reduce my own waste, especially with kids toys!
I'm an eBay seller myself and on most broken items I make no effort to find out what's wrong, not worth the time, if it doesn't work it's listed for parts. I would assume that the seller just plugged it in, concluded it didn't work, and thus listed it for parts, nothing wrong with that
@@BatteriesRcool99 The fact that the seller didn't show a picture of the top of the console shows exactly that he wanted to hide the missing front grill piece.
@@BatteriesRcool99 there's no way they didn't notice the missing grills and I'm very doubtful they didn't pop the top. It's so easy to do on a PS5 and it was loose when he got it.
I do not have the patience or eye for detail for this kind of work. Amazing work dealing with such a mess. Great show of skill and knowledge as well as a solid support team on Discord.
Out of the blue I bought a beginner soldering project yesterday. Today I've been watching soldering videos non-stop. This video definitely was a fun one to watch, keep em coming!
This isn the first video of yours that I've seen, and what a great find it was! Definitly subscribing, this was both entertaining and informative. We finally got a sodering station at my job, and I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to sodering, but watching this video gave me so much confidence to get out there and grab some stuff from the recycling bin and try to fix them. My father taught me to use a soldering iron when I was about 7 years old. A skill I've used regularly these last 33 years. I've never done reflow. And I've rarely tried to troubleshoot modern PCBs. You made everything so easy to understand and follow. I was captivated all the way through the process. Thank you for making this accessable. I think I'm going to go buy a reflow workstation and tackle some projects that have always felt a little out of reach.
I don’t know how you ended up on my suggested videos or what you were talking about but I found this absolutely fascinating! Was so thrilled at the end!
This was the most educational and exciting video I've watched this month. Great to see how difficult it is to repair electronics at such a level but to also share your knowledge with us and give us such a close look on what goes on!
first video i have seen from you. brilliant narration and storytelling with as much live as possible. felt like there was a lot of fix put into how long the vid was. plus kept it enjoyable with your personality. as for the fix wow well done, as soon as i would have seen the soldered fan cable i would've sent it back, good perseverance
Great job, Joey! Also, you've shown the best possible way of tackling such a huge job: going at it one step at a time (repairing the fan connector, replace the southbridge, etc.). You didn't get discouraged at all even though this may have looked like a deal breaker to start with. Could it be useful data to check for a faulty/blown southbridge by measuring the test pad? I can imagine it will not always show the same results but it just might help track down issues with the southbridge a little sooner. Other than that it is so nice to see how far you have come on this journey, something you can be really proud of.
I usually don't comment that often, but this repair absolutely blows my mind. I thought that PS5 was done for. The amount you have grown throughout your entire time on TH-cam is awe inspiring. Fantastic repair job 👏 Did you end up replacing the fan? I thought it was just the PWM wire not connected, but turned out to be the southbridge. Fan could still be good, just needs replacement plug.
Wow! You’re amazingly patient! Well done. I’m so glad you got that machine to work. If you purchased this from an individual, I’d be hard pressed to believe they didn’t know what a mess that was in.
This came up on my recommended page, I've not watched a PCB repair video in many years, but this one completely captured my attention, what a mission this was, great job with your diagnosis too. Subbed and now it's time to binge every prior episode
Mad skills bro! I’ve been watching some other tech repair channels and the algorithm recommended this vid. Could immediately tell you were a notch above with your technical knowledge and skill. New subscriber here. See you in the next one!
Having been working as a mobile phone repair guy in my youth (hell that's now almost 20 years ago), I have to say impressive work. Not many have the patience needed for this work.
My word Joey, that was an absolute beauty of a repair, from something that seemed an utter lost cause from the get go, to an item that has escaped being sent to landfill, all through your knowledge and sheer determination (and the guys in the Discord of course). Watching you do these repairs really makes me wish I could do the same, maybe in the future I will have the time to sit and tinker with things and acquire the relevant knowledge, so I too can help keep tech from landfill, until then I shall simply watch in awe as you do what you do best
Hey, Joey! Really love how you always try to be empathic with a possible amateur or home-made attempt of repair, even in the case of a so messy work as it was this PS5. Great video as always! Regards!
As others have already said this is probably one of the most impressive repairs you have done. Despite my extensive microsoldering experience I would have probably given up on this one. Incredible job Joey!
I was subscribed to a channel where the guy did awesome repair work but after some time he started to arguing against his customers and their mistakes/*behaviour and always bullshitting about how you build up your life/channel/success. I was really tired hearing the same again and again and I was really pissed off how he blamed the customers sometimes for tiny things. Since then I am following the electronic repair videos of an older guy in Grand Canarian which is great but isn't that hi tech (I mean he fixes amplifiers, PSU units and so on, not ps5 and such new things). After watching your video I subscribed to your channel because you did awesome job here without speaking too harsh about the guy who tried to fix the console previously. This is a professional aproach, positive thinking is alway much more satisfying to watch. Keep this style!
Im trying to learn how to solder and repair electronics and this was one of the best videos ive see. Mainly because you explain what youre doing and why. Like when to putflux and how hot to have the components. Also how to diagnose.youve gained another sub 😊
Wow this was really entertaining to watch. I've done this before, replacing the HDMI for a mate. You made it look very easy, I remember how much heat basically disappears into the board and requiring the soldering iron and heat gun both at the same time to apply the solder.
I soldered my fair share of tiny SMD Parts and connectors myself. Your skills are amazing! Thats a lot of work for 49 Pound. No wonder that repairing is often not worth the cost. Great Video!
Joey, this is by far your most impressive fix yet. That board was a goner and you performed CPR....you did have the cost of the new hdmi port that your forgot :)
That was a treat of an episode. You brought that PS5 back to life! I applaud you good sir. I really want to get into electronics to this level, but man you rock!!!
Wow. Hat's off to you, Joey. That soldering was spot-on (Ha!). What a win! Had a bad feeling when you pointed out the Hot-Glue in the beginning but Holy Cow - that poor PS5 had to suffer some botches, didn't it?
I have no desire to attempt to fix any electronics, and not sure why this popped up in suggested content. However, you had me glued to the screen fascinated on your repair job fixing what I never would’ve thought fixable.
YT algorithm sent me here. Fantastic video! You have a new sub and I look forward to watching your content. There is something therapeutic about watching the types of repairs.
Wow I learn a lot from your video. I do smd soldering occasionally too, but this is beyond my level. I can tell most newbie will fail for the first time when they do this. It's not easy and definitely need proper technique ie what solder tips to use, temperature of hot air, the importance of flux, where and when to point at the things you trying to solder because these board were design to take a lot of heat. Plus of course you need to have a strong basic knowledge in electronics. Very unique especially the way when you solder the hdmi port👍
Joey, this was the most amazing fix so far if you ask me - that PS5 board had been properly mauled (hot glue!!!!) - and you brought it back from the dead. Super-skills dude, super-skills 👌
I stumbled across this video by accident and I'm glad I did. I have no knowledge of electronics but found this very interesting and I've now subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos

Really nice work. Never seen all the different ways to fix damaged traces and pads. Would it be a good idea to add some glue to the JST connector to prevent the wire from moving?
Great job Joey, you are making such great progress on what you enjoy doing. Keep up in the profit zone and keep making great content. Looking forward to your next one 🙂
9:01 - Pro Tip: Use a larger screw driver handle with a hex socket of 1/32" (I used a standard hex driver, then used an adapter to drop down to the proper size for iFixit bits) Some kits I've seen have the adapter as well, but a larger handle definitely gives you more leverage, grip, and torque than the one which comes with the iFixit kits.
Awesome win Joey I didn’t have faith at the beginning not in your skills but the absolute mess they made of it Well done bud your skills and confidence is growing experientially long live the green for sally 😂😂👊🏻
Since there was FIFA (FC24) installed on the console my guess is the owner itself messed up his console trying to repair it. Very nice job Joey! Amazing that you were able to fix the abomination they sold you.
if i was a gamer, i would soooo buy this from you. watching how you found and fixed all this wrongness!!! i am a fixer myself, not so much into electronics, but mechanics and electricity and water things and bicycles and my beard trimmer and my receiver, cd deck and record player, my computers and so on. i cannot read boards, though, and i love everything you did :)
hey just a tip regarding stripped screws there are special bits for drills to extract them that drill into the screw in the reverse direction and extract them as you drill, i've once had a really really badly stripped screw on a laptop and i saw online all kinds of tricks and hacks people were suggesting but the only thing that worked was that drill bit.
How do you sell these? I guess they are listed as repaired / warranty void etc etc. Do you provide any return / warranty on your repairs? Mad skills though, I am really impressed with the care and attention you bring to the repair. Kudos!
I accidentally pulled a 5 pin ribbon cable and connector off the board when I was disassembling a washing machine. I thought, no problem I’ll take it to a local tech shop that deals with board repairs and they’ll have me sorted. I tried two places, said it wasn’t possible. I paid $300 (nearly the cost of the washer lightly used) to have the board (including entire assembly) replaced. After watching you work and I know now it could have been fixed. I might even have a go at it myself after some more research. If I get it that replacement part is going back to the manufacturer. Side note they make you take apart the entire front end of the washer to get at the drain filter, no drawer or access panel. Anyways, very cool video, I’ve never seen someone actively repair a board like this. I’m only 13mins in but I hope you make good on this purchase
28:01 for something like that, personally, i would've done it old school (from the 90's) IE, you take a bit of copper faced board, cut a little square, cut your vias in it, glue it down to the mobo, and then put bodge wires to that. Strong mechanical connection and a reliable path to the connector.
im very very impressed your deffo getting better joey,, being a engineer myself, ive seem u got from knowing very little to jumpin in deep end welll done u should be proud buddy ,, well done, x all best lee.
This video is amazing! 🌟 I learned so much from your clear explanations and engaging style. Keep up the great work-looking forward to more awesome content from you!
Interesting video, it was very nice watching you work on that piece. But my question is, since I see your on a RAZER Headphones, did you had problems with the hinges on them? I recently replaced mine after just 3 months of normal, careful usage. If you did or will have some problems with them, would be nice to see you repair them.

@37:57 Showing you SSID does actually do something. You can unintentionally disclose your location. So well done for covering that!
I don't know anything about what you just did, but was celebrating with you! Well done! Subscribed!
Awesome win Joey I didn’t have faith at the beginning not in your skills but the absolute mess they made of it
Well done bud your skills and confidence is growing experientially long live the green for sally 😂😂👊🏻
When making the wires, leave a little more past the area. That way, you can add some more coating to anchor them down.
How do you sell these? I guess they are listed as repaired / warranty void etc etc. Do you provide any return / warranty on your repairs? Mad skills though, I am really impressed with the care and attention you bring to the repair. Kudos!
Well done mate, not many technicians would have been able to save that console, props to you!
Thank you bud :)
Is it a top loaded washing machine made after like 2005? If so, it probably doesn't have a drain filter
Thank you and welcome aboard! Enjoy the rest of the content 😁👍
Wow this was fantastic to watch. Sub'd immediately at the moment the fan connector was fixed. I'm going to binge your channel now
Interesting video, it was very nice watching you work on that piece. But my question is, since I see your on a RAZER Headphones, did you had problems with the hinges on them? I recently replaced mine after just 3 months of normal, careful usage. If you did or will have some problems with them, would be nice to see you repair them.
Awesome work Joey 👍 …. although I would recommend you survey the whole board before picking up your iron. Keep up the great work 😀👍
I know nothing about tech and have soldered like 3 times in my life but your videos are very entertaining to watch
Wow, well thats a great example of what repairing is really all about! And yeah GG to Roy, he literally has an answer for anything! XD
I think the term 'previous technician' may have been a bit kind :D Well done, that was interesting to watch and a positive outcome again! woohoo!
First full vid I have watched... Really amazing work, if you have any tips to share for a noob soldering maniac, it would be appreciated, from best tools to have as a starter and what you can't live without.
Great Fix, looking forward to watching your videos; been interested in your concept for a while now, but with a big lack of soldering knowledge, i haven't started myself yet :)
As a beginner, im blown away that you managed to fix that haha I hope I can get to your level someday
Oh my god what a journey! Congrats on this repair, you are a champ !!🎉
