Sorin, I write a lot of negative comments but it is nice to see that some jobs are hard or almost impossible. Thank you for posting this and keep the good effort. I love your channel a lot
Sorin, since the caps lock turns on. Then it means the laptop is definitely working. some devices wont display on an hdmi output if it is on the bios menu. Hdmi output only works on Windows. Sometimes only when the graphics driver is installed on the windows OS. You can try disconecting the lvds cable or install an ssd with a windows OS. Then try the hdmi output again
@Tribes11 No, i have fixed lots of gaming laptops with a missing 5v line on the lvds. It does not have backlight or picture. It would just seem like the screen isn't connected.
So close to an "EP Repair" (EP = EZ Pizza)... It's just one of those things... you did awesome to bring the system up to a running state... just needed to sort out what was/ was not happening in the video department... Thank you for another awesome video and large chunk of knowledge! :)
Actually even if the board is working properly the display will not come by hdmi as acer dose not display bios on hdmi . So I would like to suggest to put the nvme disk and then put the HDMI cable
Surin keep it up so many peripherals bad on a single machine still you attempted it, no words but great. Today was no picture but there is always "we have picture" keep it up sir
I noticed that the camera at the top of the bezel seemed .....offset which if it is could mean someone had it opened who knows but it could be unplugged inside and some laptops won't post to hdmi. It could also be a faulty lcd all together I would check for backlight voltage too. Love your videos and your character

This is a gaming laptop, multiple layers, the amount of time needed to keep the hot air under the board is more risky than a quick 480 upfront, he can always protect the connectors with aluminum tape, Teflon tape or kepton tape like he did. It's still risky to melt the plastic components however it'll not damage the board on a layer level. Another thing to consider is that the other side might as well have some delicate component like another connector (not this case I believe) or another IC.
@@Tribes11 indeed, i missed the very valid here fact that it's gaming board with tons of heat capacity. But if it comes to components not being meltable on the other side, surface tension of solder compound will hold firmly even TO252 components ;)
Wonderful job as always. You have surgeon hands. I would have tested with some compatible screen just to make sure. But, yeah, the repair job would end up being really expensive.
Hi Sorin! Just into 10 mins in, was thinking if you removed the E.C. and also BIOS chip from donor board maybe not need to program the E.C.? Am still watching, Excellent work, Legend!
Everyone has a specific amount of knowledge and practise. Just normal. It's even honorable to understand if the own level is not high enough and send the defective item to somebody else for the hope of repair.
I think Sorin should have another go at this Nitro Based on the current consumption board looks to be posting and behaving, He should verify a USB mouse lights up to confirm the unit is posting. The dead EC chip is a clue, this often happens as part of a cascade failure starting with an LCD issue. Either the LCD slipped or the cable failed, and took the EC chip with it. This unit maybe working properly, but have a bad internal LCD. (Most laptops wont display HDMI out unit the OS loads, and this maybe in a windows startup repair environment) It would also be a good idea to check Diode mode readings and voltages at the LCD connector, it may have a dead 3V power supply to the screen. It is also possible that another signal that interfaces between the PCH and LCD has failed with a short circuit. All of these issue are stereotypical of a cascade failure that starts with a screen or cable issue. Im sure with a little more time this one is fixable, and hope Sorin revisits this no fix.
Hello Sorin. You can make an ldo with current limiting or in case of too much current goes to cero. Remember you must modify your power previus supply to remove such protection.
Sorin , Years ago I've had a similar problem on an ATX (pc, not laptop) MOBO: NOT brain-dead (swapped CPUs, RAM, GPU, etc. to check), like at the end of the video (after the EC chip repair), but no display, no boot, no BIOS = BOOT-loop. The MOBO i had would NOT boot into bios with a dead BIOS battery, for some god-forsaken reason (pc= plugged into the wall). I "solved" that mystery when i said "F-if!" and put the meter on literarily everything, until i found 0.01V on Bios Battery Could It be the same case here?
Interesting video. I have a similar nitro 5. Mine is working right now and Im selfishly hoping this isnt a common failure for the Nitro 5's (mine is technially the "v" but it's a 5 so yeah), even if you never fully figured it out.
Thank you so much, Sir. this is one of your best videos; educational and informative❤ is it pointless to disabling dedicated graphics? ( i have no experience in laptop repairing )
Thanks very much. Nice knowledgeable video after long time. I think better you trace the last signals like DRAMRST , PLTRST ect because U come to very close
When you use the chip reader to read, then copy files from it to transfer to another matching chip, do you have to delete any existing files on the receiving chip before the transfer, or does the utility program automatically delete any info / files before reloading it with the copy files? Hi Sir, you have used hot air with 470 degree with ram memmory inside it can be that you damaged the connector or ram memory check that also. Thanks for the nice explanation and video.
I have watched an awful lot of your videos (which are great by the way), and the one thing I find really bizarre is the amount of laptops that get sent to you that are really dirty. Ok that is fair but who is the other youtuber who couldn't fix it and why didn't he go this far already? Thank you Sorin very apprecited effort anyway , maybe some other tricks can be done like isolating the gpu like before or trying the hdmi without the screen connector on , or if you get some other time later to finish the job and probably trying another firmware because it sometimes does work if you just leave the things that went bad for another time.
what about the lid sensor? faulty keyboard make me think of liquid damage ... check carefully the board. Use MATS to check GPU Ram also (but usually you get backlight when is a vram issue).
I suspected the EC chip. that number you said type:9020 and 9022 the keyboard and screen doesn't work also the motherboard version should also aligned with the bios. Is there voltage on the screen connection? I had a bad HDMI but the screen connection was good. I used only hdmi because the screen was cracked. What happened is de HDMI was getting Shorted or something happened, when putting a new cable and was not working anymore. I was assuming it was a broken laptop. It was coming on an no picture I tried a different screen and it worked.

The reason HDMI doesn't display is because it's a 'software controlled' output. It isn't just ACER. My Dell does it. The driver has to load and switch the output on. Old analog VGA would display even at BIOS. Even audio sockets are driver controlled these days.
