These chips look amazing. Here in the U.S. chips/snacks of all kinds have had tremendous price increases so in addition to being healthy they are also less expensive than the store-bought chips.
Thanks a lot! That's right these are the double win for sure... It's pretty much the same with prices here in Croatia, and all these store-bought chips made of apples, lentils, with less oil and salt, these were always too expensive to be an option for regular consumers.
I've made Savory Chickpea Crackers w/ smoked paprika for years. The batter is thick and rolled; very thin, very crispy. Will try this variation for a softer tortilla that can be folded for tacos.
@@HowToCookSmarter Yes, it uses Chickpea flour only. You can google "Foux-ritos" (Foux Doritos) and get recipes. Be sure to roll between parchment paper, use a pizza roller to shape how you want.

Another excellent way to keep our snacks healthy. Thank you, Sasha, for the recipe and the tip on using the spoon to make the tortillas thinner. (Question: Can you substitute spelt flour for whole wheat in this recipe?) Your recipes and production value are always the best! 🥰
Hi Lauren! These tortillas are a true hit in our family at the moment, they're just too delicious :) For your question, sure you can use spelt flour for this recipe with no worries, hope you'll enjoy it. Thanks so much for your kind words, you're an awesome supporter, it means me a lot!
You're always on it Sasha! I liked the texture and color of the Chickpea tortillas, definitely much tastier and more nutritious than corn chips but on store-bought chips, there are many tortillerías here in my country, in each city, town and state, this makes it difficult to find one that makes great tasting corn tortillas but once you find one, keep to it. As for the wonderful superfood that chickpeas are, love hummus, a stir-fry with sliced carrots and onions, using chickpea flour to make milanesas(schnitzels)and I want to try making yoghurt from chickpeas as well as making these yummy chips that you've made here. 🤤Thank you for sharing Sasha, 👍and greetings 👋from Mexico.🤠
Hi! It's true, chickpeas are just a wonderful ingredient, and there's so many delicious way to enjoy it. These tortillas are one of the best things I came up with lately, can't get enough of it... Eating these with hummus would be a nutritious bomb! I appreciate your wonderful feedback!
Thank you for the recipe and great video demonstration. I will try to make these, and will sprinkle both garlic and onion powder on them along with the salt.
What a brilliant idea Sasha! I try to avoid snacks as much as possible and look for healthy alternatives (which isn't always easy) now I will have the perfect alternative, I just have to see if my local supermarkets have chickpea flour (if not I can probably get it online.) As ever, TFS and have a great week! 👍💖
Thanks Hazel for your wonderful comment! That's right, not snacking at all is not the answer, we just need a better altnernatives... and these chips does that job wonderfully. Hope you'll love it as much as I do. I appreciate all of your kind comments, and I hope you're doing good. Sending back love!
Love chick pea and/or lentil flat breads and chips! Can be used for small pizza, too 😊 Glad that you're sharing this with your community. Other people use egg, psyllum husk or xanthan gum as the binder when they're avoiding wheat flour. I use egg white but am planning to try rice. After all, legumes & rice (or any grain) together make a complete protein.
This is awesome! I just found your channel with this video and love it! I'm gonna try this recipe asap and do half the batch spicy 🤤 I need a limón hot cheeto replacement ASAP
It's great to have you here Monica! That's right, we just need a replacement for store-bought chips, last time I had a handful of potato chips I was sick of all that oil. Hope this recipe is going to work for you.
Yeah, common ingredient in Indian grocery stores and, at least where I live, much cheaper there than a regular American store. $3.50 US for a 2 lb (about 900g) package
@HowToCookSmarter why? Maybe you could share some recipes with psyllium again soon. New research shows just a teaspoon a day lowers cholesterol, improves blood sugar, improves gut health and could reduce risk.of certain cancers
@@littlevoice_11 I used to add psyllium into my baked goods when I was on a paleo diet, but haven't been using it for a few years now. It’s definitely something I should start incorporating again.
I have found the same thing with buckwheat flour as you did with ground chickpea---these respective flavors are too strong and can easily overpower other types of flours. Or, whose distinctive taste simply doesn't mesh well with certain other flours at all. Like humans---not everybody will get along, no matter hard we try to make it work. LOL
That's right, buckwheat flour comes with strong flavor and it's quite dense, I used to add some into the bread mixture, and too much of it just ended up with not so great results.
Not to worry you, but have you read anything recently about black plastic and its toxicity? Obviously your not going to want to use metal utensils on those pans, but you may want to consider wood ones. I was surprised to find that its specifically related to black plastics.

Do you have a video on how to make your own chickpea flower?
Hi! Not really, I guess grinding the dry chickpes in a coffee grinder and sifting it through will work. Glad you like the recipe!
I might do it
Great idea!
Do you think I can skip the baking powder step? 😊
Sure, that wouldn't be a problem. Glad you like it!
You had me at chickpea tortillas, but I need to avoid wheat - do you have any low carb suggestions?
Nicki749….I’m going to try gluten free flour…think it’ll work, cause I’ve made crepes and pancakes both with it.
Hi! These tortillas are amazing, you can try it out with almond flour.
thanks, what brand of pan is that? looks amazing. looking for best non stick skillet pans or that on
Hi! This pan wasn't expensive at all, it's made by Berghoff, I bought it with no expectations, loving it!
Merci! 😊
You're so welcome!
What flower beside wheat flour may I add to keep it gluten-free?
Almond flour, rice flour, or just add extra oat flour.
Amazing work!!!
Thanks man!

I'm excited to try it! Is CPea flour actually cheap? Maybe in an Indian shop near me or is... anyway merci beaucoup!
Yeah, common ingredient in Indian grocery stores and, at least where I live, much cheaper there than a regular American store. $3.50 US for a 2 lb (about 900g) package
Here in Croatia it's 50% more expensive than oat flour, but one bag lasts me for 2 weeks at least.
Would you consider using spelt flour?
Sure, that would be a great option too.
Are your recipees good for diabetics
Most of them would be a good choice, this one definitely.
Any gluten free alternatives for whole wheat flour?
Half oat flour half rice flour would work too, or any other gluten free mix.
I'm gluten free, can I use oat flour instead of the wholemeal?
Sure, that would be fine.
YAY!!!!!
Hi greetings from Mumbai India instead of chickpea flour can I use split chickpea flour or Bengal gram flour
Hi Maria, sure that would be just great too! Take care!
Have you tried 100% Chickpea flour when combined with psyllium husks?
I'm not, haven't been using psyllium husks for quite a while.

Are these gluten free? I cant eat gluten could you use almond flour or Cassava flour?
Sure, you can use some other gluten-free flour in place of whole wheat flour.
You make it look so easy, but I think it takes practice.
It does I guess, but all of my recipes are pretty easy to make.
How about oat flour? Almond?
Sure, that would be just fine, this mixture just gives me the best results when it comes to texture.
Shocked to see a recipe that doesn't have oats in it ;)
Yeah I know, this chickpea to whole wheat ratio give me the best results.
This is basically Indian "chilla" without any topping
That's right, except spices and vegetables.
