I've made something similar for my mom to keep weight on her. I also added vanilla extract, cinnamon, cardamom, raisins, dried cranberries. Sometimes I pulse up other seeds like sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, flax and sub for some of the oatmeal flour.

What reason is there to wash the beans if you use the liquid from the beans? is there some kind of coating that remains more on the beans themselves to wash away?
You know, it's different for all of us. Hard to know; heard you could sprinkle baking soda on beans when you cook them. I tried that, but really when I changed my diet and got used to more veggies and beans, I didn't have the problem anymore? So, wish you luck!
