I'm an italian, I just want to say one thing: "pepperoni" are the sweet peppers, they are not the meat slices. The meat slices you call "pepperoni" are actually called salame. I don't know how it could happen that in america they swapped the names of these two pizza ingredients, but I always find it funny and I want to debunk it
It makes sense! I always wondered, why "pepper"oni? And I know that in Italian "pepper" is "pepe". And salami looks a lot like what we call pepperoni anyway lol. Thanks for sharing!
Wow i didnt know that. Maybe someone made a mistake but it was too late and the wrong name stuck to the American public. They probably didn't want to change the name cos they might lose customers.
Etymological origin and semantic meaning are two different things. Many languages call the sausage pepperoni -- regardless of how it originated, it's not something you can fix or "debunk", since it's not semantically incorrect. That's just what it's called in English, among other languages.
OK this looks incredible!!!!!! I think this would be great for tomorrow's dinner so il be back in around 24 hours to tell you how its goes Edit: ok here's my results. Firstly it did taste like a pizza HOWEVER, its tastes like an Italian pizzas not a dominos style one. Personally I prefer thst but I thought I should give a heads up. I didn't have a broiler and I found the best way to cook this if you don't have a broiler is to put it in the oven at 200C (fan forced) for about 30 mins. I think it took that long in part because of all the toppings I used. I tried using the frying pan and putting the lid on it to help heat the toppings, but that ended up not cooking the toppings well enough (although the base was thoroughly cooked).
Thank you very much for this recipe. Finally an actually very delicious recipe for healthy pizza!! I made it yesterday, and it was enough for both lunch and dinner for me and my husband. Very delicious, and very wealthy 🙂❤️
Hi, first time commenting on here 😀 I love this recipe as it’s a no-knead but had to adapt... no cast iron skillet so used parchment paper on a pizza tray and baked the base on its own for 8mins at 180c fan. No spelt either so substituted with wholewheat flour. The smell was divine when I got it out of the oven, I could have just eaten it as it was! I did this to firm up the base a little as I had fresh mozzarella as a topping. This helped prevent the soggy middle! I added the rest and baked it for another 12mins. The first bite was divine 🤤, the oats gave it a lovely nuttiness which contrasted nicely with my spicy tomato sauce. Thanks for this, I shall make again! I have made a few of your recipes already and am a Subscriber, keep up the great work!

Hi Evgenia! Sure, you can go with rye flour too, and same for baking, feel free to use just oven, the edges won't be that crunchy, but still delicious.
🍴😇 Russian Breakfast: Breakfast Pizza with chicken eggs (caviar subsitute); Dough: 2/3 cup ground oats (oat flour) (65g) 2/3 cup spelt flour (85g) 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2/3 cup Greek yogurt (160g) 🥞Russian Pancakes made from 3/4 Cup milk, 1/4 cup sour cream, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup sugar, flour, 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda cooked on 3 tbsp oil for frying the pancakes. Topped with 1/2 cup fresh raspberry, 2 to 3 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/2 cup sour cream; Russian Tea with cinnamon, cloves, and juice from lemons, and oranges. 🍕Russian Pizza (makes two) Dough: 2/3 cup ground oats (oat flour) (65g), 2/3 cup spelt flour (85g), 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt,2/3 cup Greek yogurt (160g) Pizza ingredients: 1/4 cup tomato sauce (60g) 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (30g) 1/4 cup chopped black olives (30g) 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese (100g) 🍕Sourdough Pizza Levain: You will need 200g of liquid levain at 100% hydration. 85g water 85g flour (half bread flour and half all-purpose) 30g mother sourdough Dough: (6) 650g bread flour 430g water + 30g 200g levain 15g salt 20g olive oil Put your containers into the fridge for a minimum of 24 and up to 72 hours. The longer the proof - the more flavorful and stretchier the dough. Heat the oven with your pizza stone in it at the highest temperature possible (500F/260C in my case) for 30 minutes. Slide the pizza into the hot oven using a large wooden cutting board. Bake for 7-8 minutes.

Hi Evgenia! Sure, you can go with rye flour too, and same for baking, feel free to use just oven, the edges won't be that crunchy, but still delicious.
🍴😇 Russian Breakfast: Breakfast Pizza with chicken eggs (caviar subsitute); Dough: 2/3 cup ground oats (oat flour) (65g) 2/3 cup spelt flour (85g) 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2/3 cup Greek yogurt (160g)
🥞Russian Pancakes made from 3/4 Cup milk, 1/4 cup sour cream, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup sugar, flour, 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda cooked on 3 tbsp oil for frying the pancakes. Topped with 1/2 cup fresh raspberry, 2 to 3 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/2 cup sour cream;
Russian Tea with cinnamon, cloves, and juice from lemons, and oranges.
🍕Russian Pizza (makes two)
Dough: 2/3 cup ground oats (oat flour) (65g), 2/3 cup spelt flour (85g), 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt,2/3 cup Greek yogurt (160g)
Pizza ingredients: 1/4 cup tomato sauce (60g) 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (30g) 1/4 cup chopped black olives (30g) 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese (100g)
🍕Sourdough Pizza
Levain: You will need 200g of liquid levain at 100% hydration.
85g water
85g flour (half bread flour and half all-purpose)
30g mother sourdough
Dough: (6)
650g bread flour
430g water + 30g
200g levain
15g salt
20g olive oil
Put your containers into the fridge for a minimum of 24 and up to 72 hours.
You are a life saver!!!! No cauliflower
Can't wait to try it.. what can be the alternative for spelt flour can i leave it or add whole wheat flour instead?
Edit : I was so impatient to try that I already got Spelt flour 😄

Sure, whole wheat flour would be just fine.

Sure, that would be a nice option too.
How was it when you used sorghum?
What tips do you have for making this gluten free? Spelt is a kind of wheat. Could I adjust the oat and corn starch ratios?
