Sending healing thoughts your way and joyful vibes! ❤ Loving tip??? Watch some comedy vids. Laughing might hurt your back a tiny bit but cheerfulness helps the pain deminish. 😄 Peace.
My grandma used to add a little spread of butter before the salt for her taste test but these look identical and I'm gonna have to try these immediately.
Congratulations. Saul is making one of the hacks of northern Mexican cuisine: flour tortillas with butter instead of lard. Other hacks include using milk instead of water or sweet flour tortillas with cane sugar. (Often the sugar tortillas are made with milk)
I clicked for a simple how-to and got so much more. A sincere smile and a genuinely friendly greeting makes all the difference. Chef Saúl won me in the first shot. I echo the other comments of appreciation for a terrific teacher.
I made these today and they came out fantastic. Legit the nicest I've ever had. Soooo much better than store bought & so worth the effort. My wife was super impressed. Highly recommend. Thank you. Saúl rocks!!!!!
Fun fact, in Texas we like to add just a little bit of baking powder to make the tortillas fluffy. You can also see some people across the border in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas doing the same but it's not the standard way like it is in Texas
No excuses! Love it. Making mine with fresh milled soft wheat. He explained the details of how the dough should be at each stage better than anyone else I’ve watched. Thanks Saul!
"No rolling pin, no excuses!" I love it! Thank you for that. I tried a recipe today and couldn't figure out what I did wrong. Butter ice cold, only half the recommended amount of water. I still ate them 😝 but that's why I came to find your video! I can't wait to try it again... maybe even without the rolling pin! Thanks for showing that dough some love! It's a life force all it's own!
Great video!! I do have 1 complaint. Can you link to the recipe or list the amounts of ingredients, please? You don't tell us how much butter to use in this recipe. 😢
Thank you Saul. I just made my first tacos today and it's all thanks to you and some other youtubers whose names i forgot. My family and friends loved them.
Great tutorial,Saúl; I was wondering, if my store doesn't have buttah, can I use butter instead or is there's something close to buttah that I can use?
Saúl is the mexican Frank .. love the vibe, always informative and fun to watch, leaves me with a smile on my face and sth I want to try out for myself.
My friend 😊, it took about 4 times to get my GROOVE, but I didn't give up ! I only made 4, because I'm single and I can make them fresh. I did the corn Tortillas also. Please make more videos. I have saved all your videos. Thanks 🎉again
I was looking at the rolling pin you are using. My mom still makes homemade tortillas. She is in her 80's . She still uses the one her dad made. It was a wooden broom stick long ago. We use baking powder & lard in ours. Ive never used butter instead of lard. I was toying with the idea to use warm Milk in place of warm water . I know of people that do that .🤔 Homemade is the best .👍
I was gonna go to the Epicurious website to get the recipe for you. I went there and they had three different versions of the recipe and none of them was this one. Based on looking at the video, it should be the following: 2 cups all purpose flour 8 fl ounces (1 cup) warm water Half a stick of room temperature butter (4Tbsp I think)
I could listen to Saúl say 'buttah' all day.
I love it ❤
It's all porpoise flour for me
"wattah"
I want to hear him say G A Z A
Me too. Love the way he says it. :)))
We adore this guy, BRING HIM MORE OFTEN!!!

My family does the same, butter and salt, or butter and cinnamon sugar
Chef Saul is the best! He is entertaining, but also an excellent teacher!
This dude is so charismatic, keep bringin' him back!
Thank you. Fresh Flour Tortillas are so much better than store bought. 🙂❤️
Amen
There's no comparison. I can't wait to try these little tricks.

One of the best demonstrations on TH-cam. Saul is terrific!

Great video!! I do have 1 complaint. Can you link to the recipe or list the amounts of ingredients, please? You don't tell us how much butter to use in this recipe. 😢
All the Epicurious recipes are paywalled. Don't support this nonsense bait and switch "recipe" video.
2 3/4 Cups - Flour (all-purpose flour) - 330 grams
1 Teaspoon - Baking Powder - 5 milliliters - Baking powder is optional. However, I like to add baking powder because it creates a slightly softer & airier tortilla.
1/2 Teaspoon - Salt - 2.5 milliliters
4 Tablespoons - Unsalted Butter (softened in microwave) - 57 grams
1 Cup - Water (warm) - 230 milliliters
Servings - Roughly 8
@@TracyLund-v3bthank you. I kept looking for a recipe.
Saul is very lovable ❤ and so is the recipe. Yum :) thanks!!
I love grandma's quality control! I can't wait to make these, and get a workout working the dough, too!
I learned so much. Thank you. I was going to use Manteca/ lard but now I will use butter.

I literally ran to my kitchen and made tortillas! It was so easy.
What are the ingredient quantities that you used?
Sweet! Can’t wait to give it a try.
asi me gusta!! this is the real deal tortilla!!
Where do we get the written recipe?
Stationery, ask for pen and paper. Then write it down
I'm just so happy I heard him pronounce" butter". That made my day
You better call Saul... way more often! ❤️
Clever!
Best tortilla video ever! It's the first one I've watched all the way through in a long time.
Merci pour cette belle recette. Ca a l'air délicieux. Je vais tester ce soir. Grand bonjour de Belgique (Europe).

2 cups tortilla but how much butter?
Just kind of eyeballing it looks like a stick of softened buttah.
Looks like a quarter cup, or half a stick.
How much kosher salt?
@@dianefigueroa9742 Generally you salt to taste. It looks like he uses about 1 teaspoon. I'd start there and adjust any future attempts as needed.
Mexican people don’t measure!
Hay, que rico se parece! Gracias Saul! Me recuredo come mi mama los hiso.
Amo los videos de Saúl, como todos dicen, traiganlo seguido!!

What about using shortening instead of butter or lard
My grandma always used shortening.
I would love it if Saúl did a video for refried beans.
I need Saul to quality control my life, make it bounce back to perfection
JUST watched you on "Chopped", SO excited to see you here! Take care, chef. 🎉❤️🙏
Perfect timing! I tried making tortillas a couple of weeks ago and failed miserably. Gonna try this now.
what did you do wrong then?
@@oxoelfoxo I followed a recipe that used lard, and it was starting to go bad.
I like this "no excuses!". My roller broke few weeks ago, but after seeing this video i gained my confidence with Tortillas 😂😅
You have made me incredibly hungry.🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺💐
Next time I'm making tacos de lengua I will be making these tortillas. Thanks chef!
Will always love Saul’s “buttah” and wattah”
Where can I find the recipe? I cannot find on the Epicurious app. :(
Great video!!
I love him!
He should do a podcast - just talking
how many mL of water?
and how many g of butter?
I'm going to experiment: all lard, all butter, 1/2 butter, 1/2 lard etc...
