    The "Legacy of the Force" series consists basically in:
    Troy Denning: "I WANT TO INCLUDE SEX"
    Karen Traviss: "AND I WANT TO INCLUDE OVERPOWERED MANDALORIANS"
    Aaron Allstron: "And I want more time to live ..."
    *In loving memory of Aaron Allstron (1960-2014)*

      Traviss' mando arc was some of the most entertaining stuff in that series. Also, overpowered? They got the short end of the stick badly as i see it.

    All Disney had to do was follow these books... A way better storyline than the current steaming pile of crap we have now. The Vong series before these books were even better! So disappointing that all the great writing from all these books before Disney bought it was scrapped. Disney just strait up sucks

    Matthew Stover, the author of Traitor and Janes Luceno, author of The Unifying Force, were both pissed that Troy Denning went with Jacen turning to the Dark Side. They believed he was better than this and envisioned him as a Force mystic afyer NJO. Simmilarly, many NJO fans also hate this series, because they fell in love with the character of Vergere, Jacen's teacher in NJO and her Unifying Force theory. But even tho I love Traitor and consider Stover and Luceno the best Star Wars writers, I consider Jacen's turn a natural outcome of the teachings he followed. Vergere ignored the will of the Force in her teachings, she also believed one should not fear the dark side so long as their intentions are good. She tells Jacen he should surrender controll to unlock true greatness, that the dark side does not truly exist. Those teachings are not in line with Episode V and what George Lucas envisiond about the Force. No matter the intentions, certain methods of using the force are inherintly associated with the dark side, because they involve imposing your will onto the Force rather than submitting to it. It's only natural that it would set Jecen on a dark path. I despise the Sith retcon tho, it cheapened the character and made her uninteresting.

    When i first read this series i thought it was 50/50. Now i look back and wonder what the hell i even liked about it. It's s truly terrible, i hate the way they treat Jaina in this, they gave her nothing to do, except that horrible Love Triangle. I hate the useless Mandalorian plot, i hate how they "explained" Jacen's turn in this: Not at all. He's just evil now. I hate the completely rushed Ending (Daala is Chief of State now, who cares why and how!) After The New Jedi Order i wanted more and more about the next Generation, more Jacen, Jaina, Ben, Tahiri, everyone, but already with Dark Nest, they compoletely fucked it up, and with this series i didn't even care anymore if Jacen lives or dies. I was done. Thankfully i enjoyed Fate of the Jedi more, because that series almost feels like an apology for Legacy of the Force.
    About the Authors: Allston is a good writer, good with characters. Traviss is a c*nt who insults fans that criticize her; her stupid Mandalorian fetish and the constant Jedi hating in her books is annoying as hell. Denning is mediocre, but also a creepy sex pervert. Remember in "Invicible", when Jaina proposes a Threesome to Jag and Zekk (and how her parents make fun of her for that)? Or Tahiri massaging Ben's lightsaber? Or a mindless Zombie-Jaina having drunk Bug Orgies (happens in Dark Nest, but get's referenced here)?

    I only read Traviss's books (Bloodlines, Sacrifice, Revelation) and Invincible and I absolutely loved the overall story and connection to Traviss' Republic Commando characters. Traviss provided enough details of events in between her books that I understood enough, and from your run through it sounds like I didn't miss anything from the others, though I may check out Tempest and Infernal.
    I really wish the sequel movie trilogy covered Jacen's rise and fall as Darth Caedus, the timeline was perfect for the original actors' ages at the time of filming for the sequels.

    It’s amazing that in 2012, so much of the fandom was making fun of the whiny children who were screaming about how Legends should never have been removed from canon and that Disney could never do better than the older canon.
    Those same whiny kids realized that if they just didn’t shut the fuck up and kept screaming forever that eventually they would get enough attention. Now shit like this gains applause. Almost a decade ago, folks would laugh you out of a chat room if you thought the LOTF or FOTJ series were any good. Now folks seem to think they’re prime content and should have been made into 7-9.
    Astounding how pissed off children with terrible taste can sway opinions just by incoherently yelling for a very long period of time.

    Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of this series. Few books I liked with jaina learning mandalorian fighting styles to give her an edge over jacen. The boba fett stuff was cool. It would have been better to have their original vision of jacen overcoming his trauma and staying good. But to sit here and say vergere didnt try to turn jacen into a sith is not what happened. Bro she tortured him for God knows how long and continually egged him on to turn to the dark side. Whether or not that was the writers original intention those plans got retconned. Even shit between films got retconned. But yeah I agree with most of what you are saying. Wasn't a fan either but inferno was badass.

    So, ive heard rumors that LOTF was actually the writers saying that they were doing the story of Anakin, but correctly. Which i feel they accomplished because this works better as the PT, than the PT did.
    IMO, its actually the few best series of SW outside of the OT.
    As for the "prophecy", that should have never been a thing. That was simply lazy George Lucas and his bad writing and even in canon, could (and should) simply be dismissed as wrong and silly. I also feel its a bit silly for people to focus on this or say that it "undermines" or "removes the purpose of". But this is why its stupid to put this in, in the first place. Because what are you planning on doing after that? Not telling any force related stories? Because anything they do after that is and can be viewed as doing these things.
    Come on. Time does not stop after this.... the force is still a thing, even after the stupid prophecy. The prophecy itself was not even correct, or i should say, inane. It didnt play out the way something like that would or should and i never understood why people tried to defend this concept. The reality is, GL is a really bad writer and since other, better writers, wrote the best SW material, he didnt understand these characters. So instead of Vader simply being the enforcer that he was, he was lazy and decided to go with the most generic religious prophecy nonsense you can find. Within his own PT, it falls apart. Its completely fallen apart by the OT. And everything after that basically contradicts it. You don't need to get to LOTF to make this comment. The Thraw trilogy does it too, as done Dark Empire and the young jedi series and jedi apprentice, and........ etc. etc. etc. literally every piece of old EU does this... actually i cant say "literally every piece", but the vast majority do.

    • @rebelinsight7917
      @rebelinsight7917  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree regarding the prophecy. But I think the prophecy was disregarded in Lucas canon, even if he doesn't want to admit it...for instance when Yoda says "a Prophecy misread could have been." And when you think about it, having your messiah like figure turning into space Hitler before he saves the galaxy is a pretty twisted "prophecy." I understand you but I love Revenge of the Sith, especially the novel.

    • @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701
      @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rebelinsight7917 You know.... I always felt ROTS was actually the worst of the PT because Anakin's fall was so poorly done.
      This is why i praise and love LOTF the way i do, because its correct.... that's how a good person goes bad. Its never one thing, its not "omg my love died, now i go completely evil and exterminate everyone". Rather its a series of questionable or bad actions, justified through reasoning.
      The GA saying "well, we need to find these terrorists and bring them to justice, if we have to remove peoples rights and some innocent people die, that sucks and we don't want it, but this is for the greater good", this is basically the blueprint for every super authoritarian police state, fascist and totalitarian nations. It gets taken further and further and the people doing these things never start out at the extreme end. It starts out with "we can illegally kick this guys door in because kids will be safer".
      This is why ive always argued you cant tell the rise and fall of Anakin properly, in 3 episodes. They needed at least six. GL should have recognized this (especially after he decided to introduce him as a 10 year old instead of 17, 18, 19, 20, which he should have done) and dropped the numbers from the saga (again).
      Even in my own rewrite of the PT, i could not do it in less than 5, which i just expanded to 6 because it left room for more detail.

      @@undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 I recommend you read the novelization of Revenge of the Sith...it's a masterpiece and adds TONS of new dialogue and scenes...and makes it a much more mature, type of Rated R experience...

    • @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701
      @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rebelinsight7917 I'd sooner cut off my own foot before watching or reading any of the PT again.
      A "Rated R experience" does nothing to sell me on that and there's no way to fix how bad the story of Anakin is in the PT simply by a novelization of ROTS.
      No, the whole PT needs to be made into six stories and completely rewritten from the ground up by someone not named George Lucas.
