Love your videos. Nice to see you doing more even though I'm sure your job keeps you quite busy. But your work is appreciated.. Your point about this franchise not being for most kids now is dead on. It's the same with Alien, Predator,Star Wars and Star Trek and tons of these franchises that are just old, stale things that are dragged out like a zombie in the hopes that nostalgia will save them. I grew up with all those things so I like them but nostalgia means nothing to me and I'm just sick of them now. I agree with Tom from Midnights Edge. It's no wonder why video games have taken over films. Aside from a few exceptions nearly everything now is simply stuff that was made before any Gen Z person was born and is just recycled. Sure there were remakes and stuff before the 1970s but in the last 30 years it's gotten worse and worse till none of it has anything special about it at all. It's just a sad attempt to recapture a bit of the magic that happened all those years ago. Remember when all these things were new? It's hard to remember that now but it was true. Now it's stale and tired and worn out. After the story from Salvation was caned I had no hope for this film. And whatever it did that could have been interesting was once again completely discarded. Just like the other films abd the TV show. Maybe something could have been done with other films but that didn't happen. It's probably for the best as I doubt they would do anything interesting with more films. I saw this a few years ago on streaming out of morbid curiosity. But it's just extremely forgettable. I agree that Jai playing Kyle was terrible. He should have been strung out and torn up like he was in the first film. Apparently they actually had someone who came close to what Michael Bein was like but they didn't go with him. Just weird. But what really gets me more annoyed was the portrayal of Sarah here. The actress just was not right for the part. This little girl who barely looked like she worked out at all was not convincing in the role. I like the idea of a different Sarah sure, but she is not a good action star. She is good in romantic films or something like Game of Thrones, even as bad as that show became, but she is not an action star. And not every girl has to be. Although with Dark Fate of course that happened in spades. John Conner was fine I agree and it was nice to see Arnold play it slightly different but overall it's really just a waste of time especially since it goes nowhere and we ended up with Dark Fate.

Since you mentioned Deadpool & Wolverine in this video? What did you think of the film? I don’t hold it the same way a lot of the fanboys do. As the movie didn’t have much substance. But I do think it was a fun time and a blast to watch.

I have to agree with Mauler that it was just not a good film and completely disrespected the other 2 Deadpool films and especially Logan. It was poorly written and had some of the worst fan service cameos that I've ever seen. Just a waste of time that really feels like a desperate attempt to use nostalgia to try to jump start the Disney slop that is the MCU. It's disposable and forgettable.

I agree about Nic stahl & to some extent Clair Danes being woefully miscast. it's true you can tell it's cgi Endos, also it looked showing off, & they showed them for too long (the BIGGEST problem with CGI in modern cinema in general) BUT they looked good I thought. Cameron had the advantage of - Arnie, Michael Bein (a cameo) & Linda Hamilton in his sequel, BUT 2 of them werent available for this. I couldnt get used to Eddie Furlong in T2 he NEVER came over as a street wise tough kid, with his feminine voice, someone like...Gabriel Damon (from the poor nasty ROBOCOP 2) would have been far more convincing to me, it seems they just can't get J. Connor right, boy or young adult. Kristana Loken again I liked the concept of a female Terminator that this time can hack & control all Computers, but there were times when she showed anger, an emotion, like when saying "where is J. Connor" a robot would ALLWAYS be neutral like Yul Brynner in WEST WORLD with a mask like face, no raising of the voice.

The 1st time ive actually seen you. Any way, I| didnt mind the idea of them getting a differant Director for this one, it being the 3rd film know in "the franchise" J. Cameron made it quite clear that he wouldnt make another TERMINATOR & he never has. He didnt really want to make the 2nd film even, BUT he knew it would hapen without him & so he agreed to do it. perhaps the way to think of T3 is to ignore the 2nd film (the way that DARK FATE did, with all the others, except the original of course) I liked T3 myself, it's no film master piece, obviously it's very watered down, and the plastic eye glasses scene didnt work, & some of the dialogue- "talk to the hand" (which had been said many years earlier) but the more serious aspects worked okay, I thought the ending was symbolically good, & they had the guts to show the World ending, BUT in day light with out it looking depressing. it's similar to ROBOCOP 3 in that what had been threatened in the original film came to happen they were tearing down old Detroit to make way for Yuppie Haven.

I would have enjoyed LOTF more if it stuck to the GA-Corellia conflict. It's been a while since I read the series, but I'm pretty sure the Second GCW becomes basically irrelevant by the last novel and is more set dressing for the conflict with Jacen. Like, I get that the series is Jacen's fall, but you can't establish a major political conflict and then pretty much not resolve it at all. I actually found it pretty interesting and the way the GA slowly slid into tyranny very well-done and believable.

Schwarzeneggar's arrival in both films reminds me very much of a Sergio Leoni Spagegetti western where Eastwood arrives in Town, as a ruthless Bounty hunter, getting his man, using both fist violence & a weapon, a gun. Also saying as little as possible there WAS comedy in the first film, such as "what's for desert" in the bomb making scene, it is black comedy like in TRUE LIES

It seems to me that the BIGGEST contrast between this very expensive sequel, & the original film, is the empesis on the nuclear threat rather than Asassin Robots which meant the character development/interaction is stronger here (BUT not necessarily making it a better film for it) obviously T2 being made so much later means it doesnt look as dated as the original also because of real life advances in practical sfx it doesnt look...80s eithe, for a budget of 90 million. ironically apparently Cameron never wanted to make a sequel but in an interview he implied, that if he didnt, someone else would & so he agreed, Making a sequel to ANY successful film can undermine the original, because then there is an inevitable comparison (even though this is a very worthy 2nd film)

This is the only good film after Judgement Day as it actually expanded the lore of the franchise. It is the only one of the Terminator films after Judgement Day I enjoy. It focuses on the Future War, which is what the franchise should have done after T2. I love how it became more of a war film with chase elements instead of copying T2, like Rise Of The Machines, Genisys, and Dark Fate did. The Terminator (1984), T2-Judgement Day (1991), & Terminator-Salvation (2009) are the only ones worth owning and make a nice trilogy.

Andor is great, but not flawless, IMHO. I agree that the first 6 episodes could have been tightened up some. For instance, if the first three episodes had been two slightly longer ones with Cassian's childhood in Kenari flashbacks taken out, it would have been easier to convince people to go through two episodes. Also, I agree that the Aldhani arc was dragging a bit for me in the fifth episode on the first viewing. Maybe that could have been shortened to two episodes as well, with some of the cut material placed a bit later, but off the top of my head, I can't think easy cuts. Maybe some of the 'Hey, who is this guy' stuff could have been consolidated more, although it would not have saved a lot of screentime. The Marching Practice could have been cut, I think; Cassian shows his knowledge in many other ways, too, in particular the scene where he explains how to take off. As for the characters: 1. Syril Karn and his Mom: I agree that we got maybe one cereal bowl too many with him and his mother. But as other people have said in these comments, he has a pretty good arc, too, and his mother contributes much to it. I could have used more time with Sergeant Mosk; Syril and he made for a very fun buddy cop team. 2. Vel and Cinta: Funnily enough, I found Cinta more interesting and Vel a bit insufferable, a rich kid playing at being revolutionary. You are already in the middle of the mission and that is when you start doubting yourself and hesitating? Also, her connection to Mon Mothma made it worse for me: Luthen is trusting that she doesn't get killed, captured or identified (pictures, blood splatter) during the raid, because if she is, she will lead right back to Mon Mothma, and through her, possibly him as well. Especially when she shows up in Coruscant, trying to contact Luthen. What would have made these two very much worth it for me if Luthen's assistant had sent word to Cinta to kill Vel in Ferris and dispose of her body, since obviously an entitled, selfish loose cannon like Vel could not be trusted. That would have also given a chance to have a quite interesting character beat for Cinta, although we got a bit of that when she put the mission before Vel. As for Cinta's "resting bitch face", it was kinda explained in the episodes that she was likely the hardest of the bunch, somewhat emotionally distant thanks to the trauma of losing her family. So no, I didn't hold it against her.

I think Ciril Karn episodes with his mom are specially made to show how different upbringings can shape people. His relationship with his mother contrasts SO MUCH with Marva's relationship with Cassian. I think he will have a more important role to play yet on Season 2. So he couldn´t just "re-appear". The biggest "disrespect" from Tony Gilroy's movie Rogue One to Star Wars was replacing the story of Kyle Katarn from the game Dark Forces. After all it was a single (first level) of Dark Forces that had to do with the Death Star plans. And in retrospect, there wasn´t much to it and wasn´t really that good to make into a movie. But even there he tried to respect it. After all, Cassian Andor uses the same gun as Kyle Katarn... Kyle Katarn Jan Ors replaced by Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso there is definitely some name similarities going on in there...

I understand your sentiments. But Tony Gilroy didn't write Rogue One. It was a story created by long time George Lucas collaborator and Adobe Software inventor John Knoll, who had the story already penned long before Disney bought Lucasfilm.

I agree completely. I stopped after the halfway point of The Last Jedi and have never watched anything they have made so you made it further than I did. Even now the Disney shills blame the fans for being racist for not liking the show. They say that the original fans of the original series are the problem. It's deflection of the worst kind. They know it's bad. They know it's DEI,ESG filled slop but that's why they do it. To score those diversity points with papa Blackrock. It's disgusting what Star Wars has become. And no stuff like Andor will not save it. There is no going back. Period. It's over. And I wouldn't trust any of the people on TH-cam who post reaction videos of themselves crying to this slop to have any capacity for critical thought. They just want to see colors on the screen and representation. It's garbage that is only designed to fit their political agendas which are mainly created to tear people apart instead of bring them together.

I agree the Dani could have been cooler alien designs. But the standardised auper high tech prison should obviously be one species. Jyn is in a piece of shit in the middle of nowhere. Cassian is in the highest tech prison. Different species will have different feet, different sensitivities, diets, hands, work abilities, beds, toilets, etc etc. It's well justified. The actual reason is Gilroy wanted his characters to have human faces we can relate to with and understand with zero barrier. The whole point is an equal competition between tables to distract feom the actual prison system. Aliens are unequal to Humans.

Its a completely justified continuity error. Andor is established to be a liar. Constantly. He's a spy and assassin. He has absolutely no reason to tell the truth. So he doesn't. We see him lie constantly in this show, and so we explain why he said something wrong about his past in Rogue One.

Syril Karn is brilliant because he is modern man. He is modern reality. He is a modern take on the reality of Star Wars. His miserable life is even more relatable than Cassian. Radical politics, issues with women And his miserable scenes are supposed ti make you miserable, but if you pay attention there's nuanced and intelligent writing constantly. You didn't connect with him but many did. He's a brilliant imperial character and depending on the payoff in season 2 he will be remembered.

I didn't even know about this series when it came out and when I did it was cancelled. After that I didn't check it out because it wasn't on streaming without paying and I didn't pick it up because it wasn't finished. When I went to Best Buy years later and saw it on disc I had to choose between this or the complete Battlestar Galactic Blu Ray set. I choose BSG. Maybe now though after your good reviews I might get it even though I am sick of the time travel thing. Although it is funny that parts of this were used in Terminator Genesis like when they traveled ahead in time and ended up nude on a highway ECT. Although that film had real issues although not as many as Dark Fate which I hate so much I never saw it after hearing everything about it.

This was a very excellent show that deserved more time. I thought Dekker and Dean were good, Lena, Summer, Richard, Garret and Brian were great. Works the drama, mystery, sci'fy and violence together very well. Directing, pacing (there are two slowish episodes), progression of story line and production were excellent also. The some of the acting on the lower tier characters of the show wasn't great, but that's about the only complaint I can think of.

And I appreciate your attempt to defend this film by bringing in Kurosawa and other sources. But frankly I don't think Ryan Johnson, and certainly not KK,had the presence of mind to put that stuff in there on purpose. This message of failure and tearing down heros is nothing more than post modern garbage. Is it more artistic than the other two films? Probably although I think they are all bad. But that doesn't make it any better than the rest of the Disney slop. The very fact that they sat in a writing room and decided that Luke would think about killing his nephew even for a moment fills me with disgust. It's a big reason why I never watched the rest of the film. If I wanted to see Ran I would watch Ran. There are virtually no heroes in that film. But did I want to see a heroic symbol like Luke Skywalker sucking green milk from a space manatee while characters like Finn are completely wasted and Rey keeps being bland and interesting? No. Again it's classic Communist tripe to drag heros down in the mud and say they have just as many,if not more since I never thought about killing my niece ir anything, flaws as normal people. So in spite of the few decent things this film may do it's not enough to make it watchable. It reminds me of Kurtzman Star Trek and what they did to Picard in that show.

I haven't seen this film,I stopped halfway thru The Last Jedi, and I haven't seen any Disney Star Wars since. It's over and irregardless if something like Andor is decent it all leads up to this slop. I can't even believe that they would consider making more films with Rey. I'll stick with the original three films and possibly the prequels and that's it.

As a Christian I appreciate your indepth understanding of the religious elements in this film. It has a lot in common with Oshii 's Ghost in the Shell which is no surprise since Blade Runner was so important in the world of Sci Fi. But what I really find annoying is people who just focus on whether or not Decker is human or a replicant. Not only is it not important it weakens the film. It removes the thrust of the irony that Deckard,a natural man,is colder inside than even Leon. It also undercuts the moving scene on the roof of the Bradbury with the dying Roy. Also it just makes no sense. If Deckard is a replacant he doesn't know it. Yet the technology that makes Rachel possible has only been introduced. Under the terms which the rest of the story has established there's no way for Deckard not to know what he is. I'm going to go with having the question unanswered no matter what Ridley says about it in his old age. His desire to answer every question has led Alien down a bad path. It's unnecessary to know everything leave things up to the imagination.

I really don't think they had any real interest in having good messages in this film. I would agree with you about the kill the past line except for the fact that that message pops up in so much of Hollywood entertainment now, such as Rings of Power ect. It doesn't seem positive at all. More like a communist doctrine quite frankly. For the few good moments of this film it's just completely unwatchable now given the state of the series now.

A far better idea for this film would have been for Luke to tell Rey right off the bat that he had been guiding her in the last film and helping her along. That would have gotten rid of any Mary Sue stuff right there. Then he actually trains her for real. She fails repeatedly as he picks her up. Then the two of them save Kylo and fight Snoke together in the third film where Luke dies then instead of here. And make Snoke Darth Plagues while you're at it. It wouldn't have been a deconstruction but who cares? It would have been far better than this disjointed mess. Luke rejecting The Force. Stupid. Yoda laughing as he burns books of wisdom and experiences. Stupid. I find the only people who like that kind of thing are people who believe in garbage like DEI, Critical Race Theory and other communist tripe. Star Wars is a fairy tale. Like King Arthur. It's not a gritty Game of Thrones like thing. There could be room for that in a spin off or a side item but not the Skywalker story. There are so many problems with this film. It's clear that the trilogy wasn't thought out very well at all. This should have been hammered out before the first film was even shot. But it's also clear that a DEI Marxist agenda was in play here from the start just by the desecration of Luke Skywalker alone. I couldn't make it thru this film and it was the last Disney Star Wars thing I ever watched. Luke would never, even for a second, consider killing his nephew. Period. Ever. Darth Vader was a thousand times worse than Kylo could have been and Luke soent the entire film of Return of the Jedi trying to save Vader. On the chance, the slight hope, that he could be saved. After Luke defeated the temptation of The Emperor and did save his father,he would never give into anything like that again. Call it boring, call it unrealistic, call it unrelatable. That's not the point of a character like Luke. He is like Superman. An icon. He is above us. He is a beacon as to what we should strive for. His very name is above us. You don't bring him down in the muck with the rest of us. That's wrong and it's disrespectful. It's a post modern mindset. There are no heroes. Nothing means anything. It's precisely what Star Wars isn't. It's like Aragorn in Lord of the Rings. He had his moment of weakness during the battle of Helms Deep. He conquered his fear and after that would never have fear in the face of the enemy again. Even if he died to them he would never give in. Same thing with Luke. He would do all he could to save and help Kylo. And seeing it in a vision being justification for Luke raising his saber to Kylo is nonsense and bad writing. Luke knows that those visions are unreliable. He learned that in Empire. As Yoda said "hard to see is the future. Always moving it is". So by the point of The Last Jedi Luke knows this. If anything he should have been the wise mentor here. Not some old, bitter, cynical curmudgeon who denied the Force and throws his Dad's Lightsaber away. Utter nonsense. It's clear that KK simply wanted to tear down the old characters, especially the white men,and replace them with her new garbage characters. I could go on for hours about what this film did wrong, even if a few things were ok. But you can see with hindsight now that this entire trilogy was poorly thought out and executed. It pissed in the well of the series and it's impossible to go back now. Unless all the Disney stuff was decanonized it's forever tainted.

This was the only one of the three I bothered to see in the theater. Which is more than any of the Disney junk which I never went to see any of them. It's a decent movie. I'd give it a B. It has moments of greatness but some of the stuff really drags it down which is why I don't watch it that much. Obviously there are truly terrible parts like Vader yelling "Nooo". They really wasted James Earl Jones on that? Ugg. But there's a lack of energy in the film at times which is due to the way Lucas shot the film. Like when Mace and Anakin are walking slowly as they discuss Palpatine. Mace is like,we need to hurry, yet they still walk slowly along instead of running or showing any kind of urgency. That's due to how small the green screen they were on was of course. It's a real limitation of using CG backgrounds instead of filming on a real location. It's just bad now. Padme dying for some unexplained reason was stupid. Really dumb. It felt contrived and forced simply to push Anakin. I also never really felt like Obi Wan and Anakin were brothers. He says it but it doesn't seem genuine. Maybe because there was too much telling us instead of showing us. Anakins turn also felt a bit rushed. All because of the worry that his wife might die because of some vague vision. I never bought into that. So it's got a lot of issues. All the parts with Palpatine are great though. The fight at the end went on way,way too long though. It just turned into a massive CGI fest and I was bored by the end of it. So I don't know. Again it's a case of Lucas just wanting to rush thru the plot so it can be done. I understand but it's not entirely satisfying. Still better than anything Disney has made though and yes that includes Rogue One and Andor, both of which I felt were a waste of time.

I like your points about the Force itself awakening. But I don't believe for a second that Luke would ever, ever close himself off to the Force. From life itself. It just craps all over him as the hero. As the icon of goodness. As the symbol like Superman who is an inspiration for us. So really Rey's awaking means nothing. Much like everything in these films.

And I will say that you are good in your analysis but also your humor. I cracked up when you went over the part where Jar Jar presents the motion for Palpatine to be senator. If only there was someone who would present this idea to the senate wink wink. I wholeheartedly agree. And the whole conveyer belt part reminds me of a Mario game. Even as an action scene I just don't think it serves any purpose. And yes the love story feels forced. Get it forced. Sorry. But seriously if I want a good love story I'll watch Somewhere in Time.

I just saw this the other day. I liked it a lot, it was good. but my BIGGEST problem with it, was I didn't really learn anything new about Furiosa and it made the movie kind of a waste of time. in Fury Road, she's trying to save the women from Immortan and take them to the green place or whatever, and you could already fill in the blanks of her backstory from just that, you can assume basically this entire movie without seeing it at all. there were no revelations or anything. if anything the biggest one is that she was never sexually abused by any of the bad guys and got out of there (not that I wanted to see that). other than that it was just too long and there wasn't enough action spread out it all came in bursts all at once. and the fact the ending led directly into the last movie irritated me I don't ever like when prequels do that really. overall I liked it, glad I saw it, thought it was unnecessary but was better than it had any right to be without a story I wasn't already able to fill in the blanks of when I saw the last one when it came out.

I do think this is better than the Phantom Menace in some ways but worse in others. He really needed a strong producer like Garry Kurtz and not just a yes man. So again the film is just kind of there. A C grade is exactly what it is. I think a big problem was there was too much tell and not enough show in a lot of parts. We are told about things and never see them. A lot of the deleted scenes should have been in there to flesh stuff out. I don't like how dumb Lucas made the Jedi here. The romance is bad,I never really liked Anakin in the film, and there's just so much wasted potential for character and instead we get goofball Mario scenes with conveyer belts and Nintendo like actics. It's a mixed bag. But it's still better than anything Disney made which shows you how bad things have gotten now.

  • @kellinwinslow1988

The entire idea of this film was a turn off. I never thought Furiosa was interesting enough to merit a whole film about her backstory. I just didn't care. A Mad Max spin off film without Max was a hard pass. Waiting this long too was a big part of why this film failed financially. It was the left over remains of a former feminist executive who is no longer at the company. It has the slight stink of DEI on it although nothing as bad as say Ghostbusters 2016. But it's a hold over from that time. And sadly Miller has gone pretty woke. But even that aside it's just kind of unnecessary. What I ,and a ton of people from what I've heard, really wanted was an old man Mad Max film. Like Logan or something with Mel Gibson. But as it is now this will more than likely be the end of this franchise and that's probably for the best.

Great film obviously. 1982 was the greatest year for films of all time. The amount of stuff that came out then is crazy. Ghandi,Tron,Dark Crystal,48 Hours,ET,Star Trek 2, Blade Runner, The Thing, Conan the Barbarian,Sword and the Sorcerer, Poltergeist,Koyaanisqatsi,Fast times at Ridgemont High, the list goes on and on. You would never see anything like that now. The template of Max wondering into situations is great. Which is why I didn't mind the other two that came after this. Plus this movie really solidified the post apocalypse aesthetic which inspired Fist of the Northstar a year later. Although it could be said that Ellison's A Boy and His Dog started it this really codified it.
