Love these intelligent horror discussion videos - best channel on the subject as far as I'm concerned.
    I'll add my two cents:
Phantasm - There's still so much that could be done with this franchise, so I would love a film with new leads and A. Michael Baldwin as the Tall Man, with maybe a cameo from Reggie Bannister if he feels up for it.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Not a legacyquel, but a prequel focusing on the Sawyer family at their height in the 1950s, showing how the machines took over their jobs in the slaughterhouse and forced them into poverty and then cannibalism. Remember, the Sawyers PRIDED themselves on being butchers. It was practically their identity. And losing that and being entirely forgotten must have destroyed the family from the inside out. It's such a terrific backstory. I feel like a lot of drama could be mined from that, to the point where I can see a prequel potentially being even better than the 1974 original.
The Omen - Just remake the story of Omens 2 and 3. There's a lot of good ideas there, which those films wasted.
Friday the 13th - These films could literally go on forever if somebody with half a brain got the rights to make them. It doesn't need a specific remake or legacyquel. Just have them explain that Jason drowned and there's a legend of him returning to avenge his mother, and make a gazillion movies.

I feel like an Omen legacy sequel could look into Damien possibly falling in love as well and that person ends up marked for death because of his infernal legacy and he tries to fight back against it. It would be interesting to see that kind of motivation from someone who is the literal son of the devil.
And yes, I agree that we need a season 4 of Hannibal. The only reason we didn’t get Clarice/Silence is because they only got the rights to the three other books that the films are based on. I would love to see them get full rights and see their take on Silence of the Lambs and Buffalo Bill.

And I’m not saying they need to be connected and have crossovers. They just need to be created in a modern world and make them not only sympathetic, but also scary. The Invisible Man could also get a sequel with Elizabeth Moss using the suit. It could be a unique slasher.

Agree 100% with Nightmare on Elm Street, as for Alien I'd propose doing a story based on Isolation. It fits between 1st and 2nd movie nicely and is a compelling story that's a blend of both focusing on Ellen Ripley as she fights to discover what happened to her mother. In the backdrop of the flight recorder being recovered and sent to a station that's in the process of being decommissioned. You've got an unfamiliar stage for the character as she races against time to not only find out what happened but also trying to escape the station as an Alien stalks them in a station that barely works/in disrepair.

I saw a fan made trailer about a dad and his daughter and she says she had a bad dream and dismissingly says why doesn’t she draw it for daddy.
Then she draws Freddy Kruger and the dad shuts himself and it’s clear this dad battled Freddy as a teenager and won and now he’s back for his daughter.
It was such a cool concept, you could even make the dad Kinkaid if it’s a direct sequel to dream warriors.
Maybe he uses his dream skills to teach his daughter and together they battle Freddy.

I wonder if we could one day see movies from any genre be cast as “ what if “ films. So that way you could just start doing insert films into a series of films in between any two films and say well what if things had been different. So not a reboot, not a reimagining really, just a continuation veering off into another direction but working directly from what ever film you would be continuing off of. I hope that makes sense. I’m not sure if it does.

Not covering Freddy's original, unsettling murders so much, but the town hunting him, the pact he made to get his powers, him learning how to use his powers in a few kills that happened pre-'Nightmare...'. Maybe a couple kills that Freddy slightly botched, and the town called them accidents. It'd have a tightrope to walk across in order to be good, but I'd be interested.

I had my own pitch for a Nightmare on Elm Street movie would be more psychological and more of a homage to part 3 and 4. The simple idea is that What if Freddy stalked a psychiatrist and fucked with her mind? What unique idea for a demon who plays with our minds messes with a woman who tries to help others.
My idea would have her meet a patient who's a surviving victim who has tons of cuts across her face and body and believe it was a suicidal attempt. They bond as friends and her patient named Shyanne Santmyer shows her she has the power to control her dreams and keep Freddy away and we would see the good dreams these characters have and not nightmares. We also learn that Springwood does a Jason Lives move: They renamed Elm Street to Cherry Street and destroyed the original Freddy house to cover up evidence that Freddy existed. But since then, Freddy is stalking the psychiatrist (named Bridget) who is revealed to be one of the original Elm Street children attacked by Freddy just before he was arrested. Bridget has had a trauma on Freddy and lives in NYC but decides to move back to help children with their dreams and she learned to dream about good and positive things in her dreams and haven't dreamt anything on Freddy until early on in the movie.
We would also explore Freddy's childhood that he was obsessed with dreams himself and learned to get in contact with it. He also was in contacts with a ancient demon who traveled through many dimensions and appears in dreams before Freddy. (Basically I'm trying to connect New Nightmare's lore with the original. Ignoring the sperm Demons from part 6 since I didn't like that one.) Which gives him the power to go to other people's dreams and can kill them in their sleep with this demon, so when he died, the two bonded to one entity of it's own. And the glove was inspired by the demon's chainmail glove he used to kill villagers centuries ago. Now Freddy's the modern version of the demon.
Present day, Freddy learns he can't hurt Bridget because her Shyanne successfully scares him away with fire. She controls her dreams and she wants to teach her doctor the same with her gift of dreaming positive ones. It's here we learned that Shyanne loved to nap everyday at a certain time to explore a Wonderland or Oz world of dreams, it's not just her own dreams, it's a planet of worlds of dreams kids imagine of and explore to but one days, she accidentally encountered the bad side of dreams where she met Freddy who is jealous she leans to control her dreams and since then, he has tried to wear her powers down enough to make her variable to reach her considering she is now depressed and bitter in her personal life. And Shyanne thinks because of her cut scars, she thinks she doesn't have enough time to live so that's why she wants to teach Bridget to have the same skills she has. And she gives Bridget her old dreamcatcher and calls her The Dream Walker - "A lucid dreamer (person able to take control of or actively determine the path of their own dreams). - Or a Person who appears frequently in or who vividly haunts your dreams, usually in a positive way."
But because the hospital is full of ignorant doctors, they feel Bridget is not good to Shyanne, wishing to replace Hypnocile with different pills and replace her with someone else, this stress causes Freddy to barley slip in her head and cuts her wrists deep, making it look like a morbid suicide. This causes Bridget to slowly loose her mind now that she lost her best friend and begins having nightmares of Freddy more than before with Freddy believing he's now the Dream Walker instead of Shyanne and acts like he's her doctor in her dreams. Which causes her to have therapy herself in a bit of irony. He also explains he doesn't just want to kill people in Elm Street since he's gotten used to the new name and wants to kill anybody, anywhere in the world since everyone sleeps besides Springwood. Even worse that Bridget's boyfriend gets in a accident and is how in a coma where Freddy can forever mess with.
The final effort to stop Freddy and save more people is to find what makes Freddy afraid when he was alive and discovers it was his abusive foster father Mr. Underwood. She turns Shyanne's dreamcatcher into a necklace and goes to the Freddy house in the nightmare world. She frees her boyfriend and she uses her powers she learned from Shyanne and turns herself into Mr. Underwood which Freddy is horrified of that he screams and tries to run away. Successfully weakening him. She/he punches his chest open which causes his souls to fly out and his house begins to burn down.
Huge fire burns through the skull of his eyes and his body dissolves to slimy muck before beginning to grow a black cloud that continues to expand. Bridget and her boyfriend flees the house just before it explodes, destroying everything. The growing black cloud punches through as the debris rains down. The dark cloud then turns white as the souls fly to the sky. The nightmare is over and Freddy is dead. We see her Shyanne as a spirit hug her as Bridget fails to hold her tears and she tells her it's time to wake up. (A la the ending of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.) Bridget wakes up and hurries to the hospital to see her husband who successfully awakens.
We then cut to a couple months later and we see Bridget's own therapy is better and she still has her job as a therapist, she mentions she would like to thank someone in her life who helped her guide her dreams steadily and always dream positive. She decides to move away from Springwood Incase she has to deal with Freddy again and because she's still alive, Freddy can't leave Springwood if god-for-bid he comes back and she safely returns back to New York City. The story ends with Bridget sitting next to a healed Shyanne on a bence in a glowing, beautiful park, nothing dark or any sign of Freddy. Maybe a few kids running around like T2's alternate ending. Despite not being in Springwood, she takes Shyanne wherever she goes in her dreams. They smile and look into the beautiful sky in a quiet, somber way. We pull back to see everything is better in Bridget's dream and reality. Fading to white.
    THE END.

My Nightmare On Elm Street idea would be set in the year 2022. It would take place in OUR time at 1428 Genesee Avenue in Los Angeles California, which is the actual address of the house used in the original 1984 film. The current owner of the house mysteriously dies in her sleep and the house is put up for sale. A family of 4 (Mom, Dad, Son and Daughter) that live in Ohio are looking for a house to buy in California because coincidentally both the Mother and Father have new job offers on the west coast. They see the house on Zillow for a great price and decide to purchase it. After a few weeks have gone by and they've started to settle in to their new home, each family member starts to have mild dreams about Freddy, but think it's just coincidence since it's the same house from the Nightmare On Elm Street films that they've all seen before. They nonchalantly bring it up at the dinner table, but they all seem to just laugh it off... Until the Mother dies in her sleep! The family is devastated and can't believe what's just happened. Could Freddy Krueger really be haunting their dreams for real? Or is it all just coincidence? The son reaches out to Heather Langenkamp on Social Media, informing her of what's been going on. Heather decides to pay the family a visit, and try to reassure them that everything's fine and that there's nothing strange about the house, until she starts having vivid dreams about Freddy herself after speaking with them. She tries to reassure herself that it's just a dream and that it isn't real until one morning she wakes up with a claw mark on her arm after a dream with Freddy! She goes back to the house and informs the family that it's starting to happen to her as well, and that they have to figure out how to stop him together. The film would simply be titled "NIGHTMARE" and would get Paul Bailey to play Freddy Krueger. He is amazing!

His directional flare barely suits the horror genre on a general level. Now to preface this: l liked H 2018 but for the details not the big picture like James Jude Courtney & Christopher Nelson’s practical effects & the Carpenter family new original score that was a banger- but the rest is iffy/ riddled with odd artistic decisions & 65% of HKills is embarrassing material), but given all the available evidence he specifically just does not seem to jive with a macabre mammoth of a movie like Exorcist or the Exorcist 3. Exorcist & Exorcist 3 (Brad Dourif’s villain monologue is some of my favorite acting & writing in horror, ever) are all that is head canon for me.

I would love to see The Gate (1987) somehow rebooted. I recall over 12 years ago Alex Winter was supposed to direct a 3D remake of the film. I haven't heard anything since.

I think there’s a good way to do a legacy sequel to Hellraiser without bringing Kristy back. Have a new family move into the house. Something happens, Julia gets resurrected. The box gets involved and opened. Bada bing bada boom. Sequel.
Sorry for the lack of details. I had actually written out a treatment idea nearly 15 years ago.

Problem there dude they already did the ressurection of Julia in Hellbound so it would be a rehash of something that's been done.

Your idea for a Pumpkinhead sequel sounds like the setup for Pet Sematary considering that both are about messing with the supernatural after losing a child through violence.

I love your dream warriors requel idea. They could definitely get someone who looks a lot like Freddy too, like they did with Dr Loomis in H Kills.

Pumpkin Head would be pretty cool with a focus on high schoolers this time around set in the 90’s.
You could mix it with the cliches of slashers like 90’s where they figure out that somebody is controlling this thing but who?
And a descendent of the witch tells them how to deal with the monster.
    Idk, seems cool to me.

The problem with A Nightmare On Elm Street is that WB owns New Line Cinema which as all the rights to the franchise and right now all WB cares about is The Conjuring Universe because no matter how bad the movies are they still make a lot of money where as the 2010 remake didn’t make as much money as the studio was hoping for and as long as The Conjuring movies continue to makes tons of money that all they are going to focus on

The next Friday the 13th needs to be a proper Jason takes Manhattan remake, I also think the best thing they could do for a nightmare movie outside of a dream warriors sequel, is a prequel following Freddy as the springwood slasher with Richard Brake as Freddy Kruger
