- Just some more testing of the Mini Drak.
Back to the bigger T-Motor, the 8x6 prop, on the 120A ESC.
Flight 1 was fine but ouch, those amps!
Flight 2 was longer with a more relaxed style but I'm still getting the de-syncs.
Thanks for the ride along! Looking forward to the day you get it sorted!
You and me both! This is such a fun wing to fly, I want to be able to properly send it without the worry of loss of thrust!
Nice Caroline! Beautiful Views! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed.
What a great idea to put the telemetry info overlayed on top!!! Copying!!! HAHAHA!!!! I think that I want to get one of these planes too...
It's scary good!!!
Looks like you were certainly enjoying yourself there. 👍
I was, though with such an expensive build, I was very nervous.
Nice flying, Caroline. Man can that bank well done
It's a great design, don't think that I've even come close to an accelerated stall even in a tight turn.
Nice one Caroline 👍 👌 👏
Thank you, this plane is proving to be a difficult one to get right.
love the footage - Mini Drak seems to do a good job - Nice
The O3 FPV system is full HD to the goggles, recorded on-board at 4K - lovely picture!!
Beautiful footage! I'm definitely going to build/buy a wing one of these days soon.
It's just an amazing air-frame, not an easy build but so worth it. You absolutely should.
Cool flying. Hope the testing goes well
It's getting there, never had so much trouble with a plane's power system.
Awesome, Great fly , you ave good speed.
Thanks 👍 more speed than I need :D
Is that the old quarry above Cullingworth , i flew around Hewenden and Lower Laithe res the other week.
It's on the Keighley Road between Denholme and Oxenhope. It was a closed quarry for ages and in the past couple of years it's become active again.
That is a LOT of amps at full throttle. Is the motor ok, in terms of the amount of Watts it can do? What's the plan of action?
I'm going to go back to the Cobra motor and the 7 x 5 prop which will tame the amps and if necessary put a throttle limit on it. I don't NEED to do 258 kph, do I?
The motor is a custom wind I got via 3DXR and does not have a lot of specs.
Are you going into the ESC with BL_Heli config to tune the startup power and timing for your motor? I'd think you'd be able to tune out desyncs on the bench that way (using an abundance of caution, of course). That is one _thirsty_ Drak!
Sadly the current 120A Hobbywing Platinum ESC does not run BL_Heli, I have tried changes using the programming card, but it's rather limited. I have a chunky BL_Heli en route to me. I have two more changes made to the setup since these flights to test though the weather is rapadily getting worse.
Are you sure that amp reading is correct? I'd imagine there would be quite a large amount of heat being generated in the motor / wiring / ESC if it's a true representation. Careful touching the motor when she comes down!! 🔥🔥. I think on my Mini Talon it only pulls ~42A at WOT on a 8x6, 1250kv motor on 4s.
I checked the amps via an inline meter - it's correct. I think that on the 8 x 6 prop with this 1400Kv motor it's over revving and just mashing up the air. The amps drops quite a bit when the plane actually gets to top speed. The motor comes down only warm - not at all hot.
what sort of prop is it? I wonder if it's bending?@@Caroline_Tyler
It's an APC EP 8x6
Looked great Caroline, be interesting to see what happens after a motor change. 🫡
Yes indeed, can't be sucking those amps that hard!!!!
over amp it
