I'm doing some stuff for Pt 6 today and hoping the weather holds out for a mainden on Sunday. With my work I can only get out at weekends mainly.

Thank you, it came out great. Wish I could have flown longer but the fingers were saying no :) I've been on a microlite and a passenger in traditional gliding. Yes, digital FPV is dearer than analogue but the quality and immersion is so higher.

Only ever done a little gliding when I was in my teens with my Uncle who was an instructor at Lasham near Reading. The landing was the third time around as I wasn't overly happy with the previous two approaches.

The Nano Goblin is about a year old now, a very reliable and fun small plane 👍👍

It does take a while to get your head around it but once it sinks in it's pretty straight forward. I find the basic setup of Ardupilot okay but the detail configuration is a blooming nightmare. I much prefer INAV :)

I agree, the standard mapping that gets applied by the template is a great help.

Speed? well I'm hoping for 150kph+ but we will see. Wide open I would expect 4-5 minutes flight time :) but mixed flying 8 to 10 minutes. This is not being built to be a long range plane. My only worry is the ESC to be honest, it looks a little weedy so I have a TBS Lucid 12S 90A ESC ordered to replace it, should I be proved right.

Thanks Chris - you can hear that tension in my voice at first power up!!!

I was using the 2-stage failsafe with a 1.2 seconds of stage 1. During this time you use the settings on the left table to set the stage 1 actions. I set it to angle so the quad will return to a level attitude BUT I had forgotton to set a throttle value, so it went to zero. I changed this to around 60-70% throttle so the quad in stage 1 failsafe will level itself and climb vertically (giving the chance to regain control).

I think it suited the morning :)

Tinkercad is so easy to throw together a simple do-hickey to 3d print. I do all the checks, stick a multi-meter on everything and I still get the butterflies before the battery is connected for the first time :D

Yeah, the moment of truth is always exciting......... sometimes too exciting ha ha.
