Nice maiden Rich. I noticed mine pitched down a little with flaps so I mixed a little up. Also added some rudder mix with the ailerons for better rolls. It's a fun airplane!
Nice review, I had to play with the CG a little, 5000 all the way forward, 4000 and 4500 about middle way, I have added some military smoke grenades to the wing tips and under the fuselage to give it a little pizzazz, this plane well thermal, I was flying it at the Ocala Flying Club and had a flight of 45 minutes, well be show casing the smoke system in Feb. when Ocala has there annual all electric fly-- in, Rich, what field were you you guys at doing this review?
Hi Rich, That is one BIG plane. Nice maiden and mild aerobatics for a sailplane. Inverted flight looks good. Maybe a touch of sandpaper on the props to make them fold in slow flight. Where are you flying it and is that a landfill in the background? Plenty of room to fly at that field. Steve did some nice camera work. At the 20 minute mark, thought you were going to hover it in for a landing. :-)
Saw one at our field have the motor pull out shortly after take off. It destroyed the nose, dislodged the speed control. This destroyed the entire airplane and a large six cell battery. Very expensive accident!
Well, to date Rich you have sold me on : 1)FMS beaver 2)FMS Tigercat 3)FMS PA18 cub ..........now I’m contemplating a glider and I don’t do gliders as a rule lol. Great video as always, and thanks for the Tigercat tips via RCG email the other week-much appreciated👍
Thanks for watching! the FMS F7F rules the skies... this glider is very sweet, You can have a lot of fun with it for very long flight time. Stay tuned I will be launching another video of it today as I test the CG positions and we're gonna film another flight in the next couple of days:)
Low inverted pass at three feet off the ground on your maiden, I admire your confidence and ability. I really like the look of this model and it seems to fly really well, hmmm, more spending coming I think.
As delivered the servo control board does not allow for independent servo control. One cannot set up the wing for camber changing, aileron to flap mix or crow mixing. It does not look like FMS actually thinks this is a glider, but rather a nice long winged aerobat. It looks like they think the model will be flown in much the same manner as that flown by Rich. I come to this conclusion reading the FMS manual. By the way I really liked the video.
I was wondering when you were going to get out and maiden this bad boy. Good to see you rich. Let me know the next time you fly the fox glider. Ill swing through and give her a toss for you. Lol. Good job my man.
Difficult to do a true review on this model glider with the prop spinning or deployed but stationery as in my experience it acts like an airbrake and worse when spinning without power. Quite amazing how much energy is taken in those circumstances. I believe, especially with the higher windspeed on the day, that with the prop folded you would have experienced far better performance. Pretty good combined with the performance you did experience. Would be good to see this Fox reviewed again with the prop issue addressed.
That is one beast of a glider, "MAMMOTH" indeed, and 6s on a glider, what! Rich, I just bought my fist glider, the Arrows SZD-54, do you have any suggestions, or tips on how to fly these beautiful gliders. Remote settings, or flight modes? Let me know, and thanks for the great content you keep putting out.
Hey man thanks again-Best way to get hold of me if you don’t get an answer here is to message me through the RCinformer Facebook page because I get so many questions it’s very hard to keep up! I’ve just spent a couple of hours now chipping away at the mountain🙂👍 thanks for supporting the channel and definitely don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any advice and I will see what I can do to help🙂
No ground start. You could use a cradle to start without hand launching. The plane is easy enough to toss it without someone else there. Plenty of power to pull right out.
please could you help i have this fms 3000mm fox i would like too put crow as are field is not that big could you advice on the way we can do this ?if you could
Two ailerons, one flap on your radio set up, (wing type) Now you have six channels. Remove the 'Y' connector for the ailerons and add regular servo extensions. Now you have two cables and two channels for ailerons. Total channels is six. I have a NX6 SPEKTRUM radio. This radio will give you a dedicated menu for flaps. In it you can mix %flaps, %elevators and %crow. I use it and it works. The FOX reduces its speed in a hurried fashion.
This fox is gorgeous BUT I think it's body to wing ratio is on the small side, I wonder if it is scale to the real one. For the videos I have seeing it seems it would be an awesome slope soarer but a poor thermaling glider BUT FMS should wise up and sell some inner wing enlargers, a pice you add between the body and the wing. With its awesome wing attaching mechanism that would be quite easy, you will just need a larger bar. Probably with 35cm to 45cm more per wing it's gliding capability would increase a lot. On your video it does look likes it drops a lot sometimes. It would be great if you add a vario to test the gliding side. It sure is a very aerobatic glider. I am pretty sure many would love to have it in their collection for sure. But advice FMS to try to come up with a wing enlarger.
Glider guys never land short lol I was about to lose my mind trying to contact FMS for a lousy defective clevis- thier phone wouldnt work finally loaded messenger and they are so nice
Are you a "Glider Guy" ? I stopped believing you after the 47.3 time you said it. From the looks of of that, it is the perfect blend of a high lift plane, and some kind of sport plane. Not a true glider by any means, but it cut the wind great! *VERY* stable for times I would rather not fly one of my 2M all balsa gliders due to high wind. Now I want one, Damn you! When I get this beast, I will add a camera to mine.
I purchase this glider and for most part it is a great plane, however, there is no real way to change the main landing gear unless you modify the plastic housing It is a bad design and the only way to fix it is to buy a new fuselage I anyone has a solution to this please advise.
I will have to look at that, but I think you can spread the plastic a bit and pull the axle out one end at a time. Once you remove the axle & wheel, you can slide the wheel off it, slide a new wheel on, and snap the axle back in place with the new wheel on it:)
@@RCINFORMER thnk you for your reply. Even if what you describe works, (it does not, I spend about 30 min trying to do just that and trying to not to do damage to the housing. ) FMS does not sell on;y the tire, just the entire fuselage.
