Tayo, I really hope you'!! see this comment! It makes me happy to see that you're open to exploring the world. I find that us creatives often feel that we need to remain boxed, due to content that we have previously made, and the following we have built online. You're an amazing story teller, and regardless of what content you put out, your real supporters will be on the journey with you! Btw, I extra appreciate it when you share your vulnerable side, it makes you even more relatable- like in this video. Have a Happy New Year! 🎉 🥂

Hi Tayo, portuguese guy here, been following you for a while, I hope you have fun in Lisbon (even though is the my least favorite city in Portugal xD), I also hope you get to visit the rest of the country and its cities, which are all uniq and beautiful, unlike most people coming into Lisbon just to help on the inflation of the housing prices, also, the city is full of tourist traps, be careful with them!!!!! No hate here, just love, and if you need any tip on where to go, just send me a private message anywhere, there are many many places you can go and many many things I'll proudly show you too , for example Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Evora, etc etc... if you google them you'll see how different they are from each other.
And yeah, unfortunatelly there's still a bit of disrespect surrounding the colonization era in Lisbon.

Atlanta, Georgia is only an hour away by one highway.. And most of them are very adamant about not stepping foot in Atlanta because it's "the big city." I got married in Atlanta, and let's just say I was pretty disappointed by my RSVPs. They are pretty content to be in that town all day every day. Point I was making, sometimes ones comfort will keep them within certain borders. Bravo Tayo for being brave enough to go beyond those borders.

I don't blame anyone who says they had a bad time in Germany because of the people. This is something people need to know before they come here that people in Germany are more distant and colder than most other places. I have traveled all of Europe and there are very few places where people are even ruder than in my home country. I can only think of two right now, Sofia in Bulgaria and Venice in Italy. Everywhere else in Italy people are super nice, just not in Venice. I've been to Portugal several times and loved every minute! I definitely want to retire there or possible southern Spain. I'm wishing you all the best for the new year and for your new life here in Europe! And if you ever decide to come back to Germany and give it another try, consider some smaller less known towns, you might be surprised! Tayo, I left Nigeria 30 years ago.
Unfortunately Nigeria is plagued by corrupt money pocketing leaders and as long as corruption persists it will be very hard for Nigerians to return back home because of lack of development.
One big problem I have with most of our Nigerian brothers who move abroad is that the only three countries that they know are The UK, Canada or the US. I'm happy that you moved to Portugal instead because Portugal has become the hottest destination in Europe for black travelers both from the US, South America, Caribbean and Africa.
I can tell you as a Nigerian that I have lived in The UK, US and Canada and these countries are no big deal. Most of our folks also get frustrated after staying in these countries for a while. The UK was the first country I moved to but after about 3 years or so it got depressing. I also lived in Canada and the US. Same thing. Canada was worse. My issue with living in these countries were the cold winter months.
So instead of returning back to Nigeria like the big mistakes most Nigerians make, I decided to travel to other countries to do some exploring. I settled a bit in Spain and learned the language. Most of our Nigerian folks would never attempt to learn any other language or move to non-English speaking countries.
From there I toured the Caribbean and Central America. It was after I toured the Americas that I found the perfect country to move to.
Of all the countries I visited. These were my favorites. The Bahamas, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad but the country that I immediately fell in love with 100% was Panama. The reason why I love Panama so much is because it looks very much like back home but on a cleaner and more greener scale with lots of development. The country has universal health care for the most part so medical care in free in most circumstances. The country also has lots of black folks to relate and interact with. So its just as good as Portugal I'd say. So i had to buy a house in Panama. The advantage with the homes in Panama is that they come with large gardens where you can plant most of our local crops from back home. I planted some of our coco yams, mangoes, cashews and udaras in my garden and the soil is exactly the same. This was one of the reasons why I left the UK because I wanted a safe place that feels more like home.
I'm posting this comment because I want my fellow Naija folks to explore the world more and that The US, Canada or the UK are NOT the only places to move to. Two of my friends from the US have already bought land here in Panama. The country is really really green and beautiful so I'll recommend it for those fellow Nigerians who need something warm and different. The UK however is not a bad place. In fact, when you move to the UK it will be enjoyable at first...it gives you that fairy tale/storybook feel but then after about a year it begins to get really depressing. Especially on rainy days and during the winter. That's why I decided to move because I prefer that Caribbean weather of blue skies, beaches and palm trees because that's what is similar to home. Although I love to return to the UK during the summer holidays for parties and to visit friends. The UK is good for holidays but not to live.
So I'm happy for you Tayo.
Been watching your vids for years.
If you continue to have dreams, pursue it and enjoy your life to the fullest.
    Cheers

Hey Tayo, I hope you get to read this comment. Please don’t mind that it is long. To start with, I’m very impressed with your content. You are among very few vloggers who have made me prouder of Africa and to be African (Nigerian). From my impression, you’ve done very well for yourself given that you’re only 4 years in the vlogging business as you’ve stated. And I’m even more impressed by your storytelling and especially your video editing skills, which I haven’t even seen any African vlogger close enough. Having said that, I bet to defer from the 650+ comments below. I as your follower don’t think it is a good idea for your relocation to Europe. Please forgive me if I’m too direct, and this might also make me sound like a hypocrite since I’ve been living in Europe for the last 2 decades, and I also don’t know how financially vibrant African vlogging is. But from the outside, I’ve got the impression that you are doing well financially.
Back to content, there are more than enough Europeans telling their continent’s stories and civilization, but very few of you are telling the African story, and I’m glad and pleased with your effort. This can make me sound selfish, but I would rather prefer an African telling the African story. As you’ve mentioned, the majority of your audience is Africans, which means you are doing a great job and people are hungry to know more about Africa. From a business side, I don’t think a European sponsor will consider an African to be expert enough to tell the European story. But that is your competitive advantage in showing Africa to the world. I saw one of the videos that you did for DW, and I was particularly happy for you. I think this should be the way forward. Instead of looking for greener pasture, you should wet the grass where you are. I think you should look for more collaborations with international TV stations like History Channel, Discovery TV, Travel Channel, etc. in showcasing the African stories and the continent. Don’t get me wrong, as I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you having your vacation in Europe and taking advantage of that by doing some vlogs in the process. But I do think/feel that you are better-off being an African continent specialist.

When I used to live in the UK I identified myself as A Pan African Afropean. Europe has a long and sometimes dark relationship with Africa and there is need for Africans to explore and speak more on this issue.
As such I often took Afropean holidays spending my money visiting numerous African restaurants, bars and nightclubs across Europe with Lisbon being my number 1 city.
A lot of these cities also are beginning to have museums and exhibitions beging to tell the story of European slave trade and colonisation of African collaborating with African communities in Europe.
A book to introduce oneself to the concept of Afropean is "Afropean" by Johnny Pitts it's a good read.

From one African (Yoruba) to another, I first visited Portugal in 2011, I booked on a whim and kind of regretted booking as I liked to go somewhere further and spicer (from UK), I told my friend (from Caribbean) that I booked, she raved about Portugal and said I would love it. Well, after hyping it so much I definitely wasn't going to love it as she built up expectations too high. I LOVED Portugal; beautiful people, beautiful culture and most black people who travel and go there will say the same, it's not our job to perform victimhood because of slavery. If I have one gripe with Portugal is that I developed an espresso habit after going, I was 28 years clean until that country 😂😂, over 10 years later I can't start my morning without one.

This particular journey you've embarked on would surely bring you in touch with the "YOU" you've been running away from; peace and quiet, slow and steady, no drags and no pushes, no unhealthy competitions and accumulations....just you gliding in wave of life's moments and building memories the heart would cherish forever.

I am so incredibly proud of what you continue to contribute and achieve. Go on bro, see the world, admire the endearing beauty of Europe and take us with you on the journey. I have no doubt that soon, you will be narrating stories to us from the peak of the Eiffle Tower, from the Thames, from the festivities of Oktoberfest, from the alluringly beautiful streets of Prague, from the banks of the Danube, from the beaches of Okinawa, from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, amid the vivacity of Manila and for sure, from the pinnacle of the Tower of Liberty...just to highlight a few to come.
