That is the sad truth, western television portray Africa to be a poor dirty ,beith starving children, band forgetting the larger part more civilized with much resources that the western part take at usually low prices, for example cocoa, cotton, cobalt, Gold, copper, to use in the so called electric cars , and calling it clean when the children are dying in the Congo when mining. Because of the Seychelles I found your channel at TH-cam and I really like it :-) Thanks for the information and videos about Africa... Wish you all the best.
It's kind of shocking lol. How hard is it to name at least 2 countries from each contintent. And Africa being the second largest, people should be able to name at least 5 Lol.
I think it’s fine if Europeans think all there is to Africa is poverty… more of the beauty and hidden gems that Africans and those who appreciate them can enjoy for themselves. Africans should work hard to develop themselves to self-sufficiency - economically, military/defense, Academically/Intellectually, culturally, etc. - the hard work in secret that others don’t see - once they’ve achieved that others will not be able to ignore the glory of Africa and it’s people! Commanding respect from a position of authority!
I think corruption is the first issue that needs to be addressed. Even though my family was more financially well off (I was born in America during the 2000s) it is not the case for the vast majority due to corruption.
I really like their honest answers, even the ones who said that the only thing they knew about Africa is poverty were not trying to be rude but that's what they know. It highlights the task that we have -as Africans- to shade some light on what Africa is, the beauty of it. Thank you Tayo for a job well done!
It is not your duty to educate them, you educated yourselves about Europe even if many have not visited. So why are they still ignorant? They even have the best internet and technology and means to visit and see if they are really interested
@@MKL614 Actually it is. I have studied in a few European countries for a couple of years and I have seen (and often spoke against) the ways that other Africans speak negatively about Africa (as if the challenges experienced by their countries transcends the whole continent, that's why it's no surprise some foreigners think that Africa is a country, not a continent), it's as if they want them to pity us. Funny enough in some of the classes Professors used to tell us the challenges that European countries face in governance, but we never get to hear that side of a story, only rainbows and butterflies. With regards to education, we didn't educate ourselves, it was imposed on us through colonial education and it was somehow conditioned in our minds that knowing about them is something to be cherished. Do you mean to say that since there's internet PR is no longer relevant? I respect your opinions, I really do, but for me it is important to tell good tales about our mother Africa because she is, indeed, very beautiful

South Africa and Mozambique are really popular to them, but I have a feeling Tayo was a bit disappointed not to have heard Nigeria as much as he would have liked...but I like how he reacted to the "tall and handsome, like you" comment 😂
It's interesting how they mentioned everything except People; they mentioned food, nature and natural resources yet they barely mentioned the African People. And that's the problem Europeans and the west in general have when dealing with Africa. They only see its nature and its resources. They never see the people and that's messed up. They behave as if Africa exists free of people. It's all nature and natural resources to exploit. Nothing else. They need to learn to see the people, then and only then will they truly understand Africa.
Noo because it’s South Africa although they’ve gotten have the exposure through the apartheid story, Nelson Mandela & the World Cup but the name is also easy to remember South-Africa.
Most of those countries they mentioned as their French and Portuguese countries and those African countries emanating positive stories out and safaris. I pray we start pushing out positive things from 🇳🇬. Good job Tayo
I like this video. Smart questions, genuine, fast and straight to the point. I realised they know more of the South of Africa, then the West before North then Eastern Africa.
Unique content considering what we know Tayo for. But, great idea. From someone who have done something similar before I must say it’s not easy stopping people randomly to speak to them. I don’t know if people watching this video noticed MOZAMBIQUE and ANGOLA comes up a lot. The reason is because these are some of the LUSOPHONE countries. Considering Tayo did this street interview in Lisbon, Portugal you can understand Lusophone countries (Portuguese speaking)coming up. Imagine doing the same in Paris or London you can imagine Nigeria coming up a lot in London. Having said this South Africa came up a lot too and understandably arguably the most developed country in Africa. As per the poverty narrative. I reserve my comment but Africa is rising and this narrative will change.
I noticed they were naming countries with higher tourism. South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Seychelles, Namibia, San Tomas, Cape Verde, Kenya and Senegal are tourists destination.
That was nice 🙂 Plus the difficulty of approaching people will be overcome the more times it's done. It is importantto not overthink about rejection or how they feel because your atmosphere can create how you want them to feel. Because they don't know what you want, you have to behave friendly yet positive like you know them (smile, cheerful, funny, calm, charismatic or whatever is needed) introduce yourself quickly Eg. Begin with Hi 👋 lady in red, let me take, share, steal one minute or excuse me! (Be funny) I'm Tie from you tube University or studies and I'm currently conducting an exciting study to see how much the average person knows about Africa... Some will walk away but treat them friendly, say "have a nice day. Then think positively that the next one will stop or simply go to those that are already relaxed 🎯

It kinda hurts but this is the reality of how others think of our home as a place of poverty. And it is a task that we have to raised ourselves above those labels by learning to build wealth and work together to elevate our continent. Thanks, Tayo new subscriber here.
Exactly
Tbh, it's the truth. Economically speaking, we are poor (most countries). Until that changes, the west would never see us as anything more than that.
Have you watched foreign movies?, all about is slavery. Our people are not conscious enough to know what is going on. They distorted religion, our history e.t.c.

You are right. Africa should work on all those and bring their crime level and poverty down
My family is from Haiti, and we plan on doing an Africa tour sometime in the future!
I think corruption is the first issue that needs to be addressed. Even though my family was more financially well off (I was born in America during the 2000s) it is not the case for the vast majority due to corruption.
That will go when Neo-colonialism is addressed
I really like their honest answers, even the ones who said that the only thing they knew about Africa is poverty were not trying to be rude but that's what they know.
