Sorry about your nightmare in Ethiopia my brother. It happens to the best of us. Before blogging became a fad, I owned an expensive Olympus 300 camera with a zoom lens. it was an eye -catcher. I was travelling to Nigeria from the US, via Rome. Would you believe that the casual Italian Constabulary pulled me out of a crowd to question me about my travels. It was very irritating and I was traveling with a US passport. That was all because I was a black man, wearing expensive track suit, with expensive basketball shoes, and carrying an expensive camera. Oh, I forgot! I was wearing dreadlocks also, before locks became the vogue. You just need to have your wits about it, and know that a lot of people are envious of Nigerians, regardless of their profession. Just pick yourself up and keep on trucking. You're just one of a kind, and no one can stop that.
I'm just becoming aware of country bias among African nations, but knew that there was pronounced hostility toward Nigerians. I found that out when I shared my family's heritage was Nigerian with a co-worker. Even though we were colleagues at a school in the U.S. the response was negative. It was also "colored" by the fact that I mentioned Ibo. I was cautioned to keep that information to myself. Puzzling response.

By that analogy no Nigerian will travel overseas because lots of Nigerian have been harassed globally. The point I’m trying to make is that you seem to quick to make a judgment.
Tayo one of the nicest TH-camr and most humble person I know, he don't deserve this disrespect. Lately am beginning to understand how much other African countries hate Nigerian, it's so unfair.
The hate is real when you travel to other African countries. They are quick to claim one Africa when Nigerians bring glory but fail to see that good side again when it is the other way round. They would start to be saying Nigerians are like that. How can someone put more than 200m people in one basket? Nigerians are very hard working people
The hatred is real. But the crazy thing is, it didn't start today. A debate was conducted in 1957 in the U.S among four Africans. Nigerian, Ghanaian, South African and an Ethiopian. The Ethiopian told the Nigerian that he's prejudice against the N*groes. He claimed Ethiopians are from Israel. But the Nigerian spoke against the injustice that the black South Africans were facing daily in their country. The Nigerian called the Ethiopian guy a lost soul.

Both of Ethiopians and Nigerians are AFRICAN black people. Even I'm black American, I was mistook for being a Habesha person and had been in Ethiopia twice. Some Americans thought I was from India, too.
@@shiwadaay07 i know what habeshas look like. there are distinct and unique features. i guarantee you i will never mistake you for being habesha, especially since you are black american.
@@astrophotos8368 You never meet me in person at all. Some Ethiopians didn't believe me when I told them that I'm American and they said that I looked DIFFERENT from black Americans. I proved to them my license, they still didn't believe me, saying that i was born in Ethiopia. An Amhara woman yelled at me in Amharic, thinking that I was not proud to be Ethiopian. I had been in Addis Ababa twice and no one recognized me as a foreigner like a Nigerian or a Kenyan. Being a black American doesn't count, period.

Bro I'm from Ethiopia. And we're at our worst times in every way. Those security guys are recruited not because of their merit, rather by their political loyalty to the government. So most of them are ignorant and arrogant at the same time. Once you pass that hurdle, you'll find lovely people. Sorry for the inconvenience

Similar thing happened to me when I landed in Ethiopia from Congo. The police stopped me aggressively, I felt so bad😩
Are you from Congo or Nigeria? If not from Nigeria then that means they are probably just doing it to some African countries that’s not from the east or from Ethiopia

@Tayo Aina...... so sorry Brother mi.. this video truly touched me and I felt really bad.... but just like you said... you still find the inner strength and courage to film Ethiopia and say nice things and also affirm that not every one is bad based on your country of origin....
I have been to over 14 African countries including Addis Abeba in Ethiopia and so many other countries around the entire globe with my Nigerian passport , no one had ever harrased me coming into the country, transiting and leaving the country. In South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, etc.... I have never been called aside in my 18 years travel experiences round the world. So please do not be angry, we enjoy your content, thank you for a balanced story and sure the bad eggs will be removed because I am a Nigerian and I must say the truth Ethiopia is a fantastic country with awesome people. They are kind, gentle and warm. From taxi driver to hotel, the street and every where I visited, I really had fun. God bless Bro.
It's nice to hear of your experience but sadly it is more of an exception than the norm. I have never met a Nigerian travller without their bag of stories about very humiliating experiences in Airpots around the world. I have had my own share of bad airport experiences as a Nigerian as well, so I am glad to hear that someone with our passport travels without issues

I am sorry brother, that’s shameful. I am Ethiopian but I feel like we have to complain to the authorities that is the only way they improve. And thank you for your persistence on trying to promote Africa and Ethiopia despite everything.
Sorry for your nightmare bro.As a Zimbabwean who lives in the West I have been through my share of dramas with Airport customs. LAX Airport in Amerikkka was my worst experience. When I was in transit in Dubai,I was stopped for a random check, they grabbed by stomach and started pressing me hard looking for drugs, I thought X-ray machines are for that purpose. I was also stripped searched on my way back from Russia, they accused me of doing something illegal, even though I had visas, photos and details of my work etc.Sometimes they have incompetent Airport staff who become too absorbed with their jobs, hence they dehumanize travelers,it happens a lot in the West too.But Africa needs to do better,we must treat each other better.
As a black African you are guilty till proven innocent at airport border and customs even with Western passports.
Also I’m a South African in the west and my worst experience was in my own country 😅. I flew from Brazil back to Johannesburg and they searched me and wanted me to pay them for anything I bought overseas. Then I spoke to another Black lady and seen tweets by other ladies that it happens to them it doesn’t matter what’s the destination they’re trying their luck. So sometimes it’s our own people man 😅
Thank you for your information on Ethiopia. I WAS planning to invest in the educational system of Ethiopia. I will not be visiting Ethiopia any time soon or half past eternity.
