  • He Turns Shipping Containers Into Luxury Hotels is another episode of my Made in Africa series where I feature black entrepreneurs from all across Africa who have built successful businesses and they tell us how they did it. Today's episode is about Mr. Olaoluwa who is a Nigerian entrepreneur building tiny homes and restaurants with shipping containers. He tells us how he left the UK and shares with us how he was able to build his business in Nigeria and some of the challenges he has faced on his entrepreneurial journey.
    In this video, I toured his pre-fabricated real estate container house project made in Lagos Nigeria and I also show you a new innovative way of constructing and owning real estate in Africa. If you have plans of moving to Nigeria and owning real estate, this video is for you. Do like watch and enjoy.

    When you have lemons, make lemonade! WE have excess containers because we export minimal finished goods and import everything. So ships come to our ports with goods and the containers get left behind and the ships leave our ports empty. We don't even fabricate the containers ( i stand to be corrected). this is great stuff and hope the idea expands to help with lowcost housing.

    • @sundayabanise9508
      @sundayabanise9508 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, most of the containers are rented from their base and return whenever they offloaded their goods in fact they have limited time they must return, failure to do so there’s always a fine to pay. No container is wasted the one that are seeing not returned are the one the agents bought

    • @WazirinJosnEnvirons
      @WazirinJosnEnvirons ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. Possibly the mountains of containers around Lagos are resold from agents who paid for the containers then. I always assumed it was a logistic inefficiency to be carrying deadweight on ships to diffferent ports around the world. Imagining if a ship had 3-6 ports to stop before going to home port weeks later.

    • @odutayoademayowa5830
      @odutayoademayowa5830 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The containers must be returned, else a penalty is paid. Those containers are assets to the shipping companies.

    It's a 10 by 10 container shop, I got the container for 110k, I covered it with pvc and tiled the floor and corridor. It has slide class door, it is beautiful. If you see it from the inside you won't know it's a container shop.
    But the problem is, the outside has started damaging because of rain and sun. It's a good way of setting up things like restaurant or beautiful shops if there is a way to prevent it from rusting .

    Hey Tayo, trust you are well. Thanks for another amazing story. I really like the Made in Africa logo. This is a story of creativity, courage and wisdom. I like when he said ‘I SAW THE NEED’. Many entrepreneurs has jump on the opportunity of the gap in the market to start solving problem and built wealth in the process. I always say the TH-cam is the biggest KNOWLEDGE DATABASE in the world. Uncountable number of people has shared stories of how they learn important skills on TH-cam. Learning is important for growth and I really appreciate that I am reminded of the value in leaning again in this video. I am amazed at how quickly it takes for the building to be ready. The interiors look great. The business surely have great potentials in across Nigeria and West Africa area. I pray his business continue to grow and continue to impact the society around him. Thanks you Tayo for another job well done.
