i quite love how the Girl asked Ash to beat her father so he would stop training and return to the family yet Ash GIVES AWAY Primeape to her father so that he can CONTINUE to train and thus stay making the father still stay away from his family.
Yeah Primeape never coming back was such a huge disappointment. Primeape, Butterfree, and Pidgeot all should've gotten at least one comeback appearance.
I never thought about it that way, but Ash got scammed out of Primape who would honestly be really helpful to him since Charmander won't obey him for much longer. Wow rip Ash.
Not only that if Charmeleon still had to compete with Primeape maybe it would have respected Ash more. Charmeleon was the strongest Pokemon on Ash's team (the rest of Ash's Pokemon were unevolved except for Pidgeotto which is less powerful than Charmeleon) so it thought it was like the Alpha of Ash's team and didn't need to take orders, maybe if it had to look up to Primeape or prove its strength it wouldn't have been so defiant.
Exactly Ash won his Primape was already a champ and Anthony said he would make it a real P1 champion um isn't it already a legitimate champion, if ash still had Primape he would have bodied Richies pikachu and Charmander after pikachu took out butterfree, Gliscor is ash's only pokemon that he's given to someone to train that he's got back, Charizard too of course
Strange how little we see of the Fighting type in the first season. It would have been nice if one of them caught a Machop. Maybe Primeape hangs out with Pidgeot and Butterfree! The only reasons that I can think of for Brock entering Geodude is that 1) it has fists and 2) in the Trading Card Game, Rock and Ground types use Fighting Energy.
When I first saw as a kid, I thought Geodude was only allowed to enter due to having fists and that any pokemon that can punch or kick can enter, even if not fighting type But had no idea about the TCG types in regard what you said. I had the cards but never played it much. There were not element cards for rock and ground? I remember fire, grass, water, electric, normal and psychic.

The pokedex is kinda useless in the anime, the pokedex could say things like: "Avoid make "x" to not trigger certain pokemon" or "how gain trust of certain especie"
Now here is also a bit more to the Conspiracy Theory : The Hitmonchan that he owned also must have been of another trainer whom he and her daughter scammed into giving away. So that is why when it lost he just gives up on the pokemon rather than training with it to become even stronger (because that's what pokemon trainers usually do after losing a battle).
I just finished binge watching your entire Pokemon WTF moments from this afternoon. You've earned a new subscriber, you magnificently snarky bastard. Can't wait for the next one. P.S. Anthony is an absolute tosser.
Wrestling? In WTF Moments? It's more likely than you think! Also, if you like Anthony, *I'm afraid I've got some BAD NEWS!* Two different King references in one comment? Tell me he did not just say that!
We did see Primeape in one of the B&W openings at Oak's lab, so we can just put that on the tally of important things that happened completely offscreen
Openings don't mean crap. Point me to that DP episode where Ash and friends watch all three legendary birds fly overhead, or the one where Lugia, Kyogre, and Groudon square off for a fight, or when Ash's Infernape battles an Entei.
I can understand Geodude being entered into the competition because in the trading card game all ground, rock, and fighting pokemon fell under the fighting type energy group
Brock wants to use Geodude. Um... Brock, you’re forgetting something. GEODUDE IS WEAK TO FIGHTING! And he’s supposed to be a Gym Leader!?! I really don’t like Brock. If you’ve heard of Fanpop before I have a list of 7 characters I find annoying in the anime. Brock’s #3 on that list.
Sometimes in gen 1 I swear they are basing things on the Pokemon TCG types; You sometimes see posters with the TCG energy symbols in the anime, Geodude IS of the fighting type in the Pokemon TCG (TCG fighting type is also shared by rock and ground Pokemon), and even the elite four matches the Pokemon TCG due to the limited Pokemon in gen 1. Lorelei is an "ice specialist" and uses water types because they share a type in the TCG, Same with Bruno with rock and fighting types, Agatha with ghost and poison types and Lance with dragon and flying types. Lets not forget Brock's infamous "Kingler is weak to fire type Pokemon" confusing water and ice type even further.
Are there any ice types in the TCG though that are listed as weak to fire? Ever since metal appeared, they are weak to metal, and Articuno is usually weak to electric, Lapras and co are usual water types and jynx is psychic type.
The p1 championchip is actually a refrance to 16 dragons fighting on a mountain til thay fall off you have 3 lives and the last one on the mountain wins it is called the p100 championchip
You know, for all the expertise that Brock is supposed to have with being a gym leader and all, and even nagged Ash once about using his Pidgeotto against Brock's Geodude back at their gym battle, it's very odd that Brock used his Geodude in a fighting Pokemon competition when it's clearly not a fighting type. Oh and also, ROCK TYPES ARE WEAK TO FIGHTING TYPES! Dear God, Brock did NOT make the smartest move that time!
@@michaeldillon1408 Well that may have been true at that time, but they're indefinitely weak to fighting types after that. I'm just surprised Brock didn't realize that.
The only instance of someone thinking Geodude was a fighting type that I could see is if they’ve played the trading card game, since rock, ground, and fighting share the same type symbol. Maybe they’ve played the trading card game before they’ve ever watched the anime, and the first episode they ever saw was this episode right here.
Pokémon should do a "tieing up loose ends" season or halfseason. Mostly focused on Ash reuniting with all those somewhat competent pokemon he ditched along the way.
Yeah Anthony (who shamelessly sounds like Lt Surge) is like WWE Manager Paul Bearer back in 1997 saying, "Screw you Undertaker, I'm riding with Kane." I'm half expecting Anthony to smack Hitmonchan with a folding chair by the end of the episode
Letting Brock's Geodude into the fighting tournament always struck me as being odd too, but other than being a sort of plot device, I also headcannoned that maybe "fighting" in this case was more loose. Like, they let him in because has fists and presumably agreed not to use foreign objects like rock throw. Kind of begs the question if non-fighting or normal type moves would be allowed, and if something like Fire Punch (a fire punching move) would be ok, where something like Poliwrath's water gun would be like illegal mist attacks needing to be used without the ref seeing.
I feel so bad for the narrator of Pokémon, he unknowingly teased so many children for so many years and gets grilled by sarcastic youtubers (love you Liam) for it

Liam, to answer your confusion about Brock and the tournament layout, I'll respond with 2 things I've always assumed about this episode. 1: Brock's geodude was allowed to compete because they were short an entry and were willing to make an exception for something that had no chance of even getting past the first round, let alone winning the whole thing. 2: There were a bunch of matches that weren't shown, (which seems to happen a lot in this series,) and there might've been twice as many pokemon competing as what you assumed.

Tournament Organizers: *point to Bruno*
"Maybe they'll meet again someday" is narrator talk for "Yeah, he's gone forever lads"
Doesn't he also say that when Ash leaves charizard?
There's no way they planned Charizard's first return that far in advance.
In the Japanese opening for the battle frontier primape was seen so they were going to bring him back but they scrapped the idea
Still waiting for him to get Pidgiot back.

They let Brock's Geodude into a Fighting-type tourney... it could have only ended in one way. RIP Brock's Geodude 😅
Maybe they let Geodude in the tournament because they thought it would be amusing watching it get its metaphorical butt handed to it
I thought Geodude was gonna be able to win. I thought Rock was stronger against Fighting
Clearly the organizers know Bruno.
This honestly makes me question why Geodude's TCG card classifies him as a fighting type?
Same with every Rock type Pokemon TCG card.
