My aunt (who passed a couple years ago) bought me the VHS that had this episode, Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden and the one from last week about Farfetch'd. This was her favorite episode because Meowth made her laugh whenever he was onscreen. From being overly nurturing to the egg, while being violent to the rest of his Team Rocket family and then when he tossed the buckets of water on Onix and then acting as both Pokemon AND trainer! This was a good trip down memory lane! Thanks for this great/hilarious review!

You forgot to mention the moment when Misty shoved Ash and Brock out of the way when egg was hatching. Not just moving their heads so she could see as well, but shoving them to the ground, when Ash was holding the egg, and end up being the only one holding it.

Well actually...since it's gen 1 there wasn't alot of information on pokemon eggs so it is perfectly reasonable to assume fully evolved pokemon could hatch from an egg.

The Episode that really made hate Misty. She legit steals Togepi. Asth found (stole?) the Egg. Brock cared for it. Misty the twat pushes them out of the way when its hatching so she is the first it sees, then keeps it as her own. They also just made the female of the group a 'Mother' who becomes even more useless with carrying around Togepi. A terrible 'Mother' at that, often leaving Togegi unattended where it will then wonder off and put itself in danger.
I remember the times when I went like 5000 times throughout my gen 1 pokemon catalogue just to find togepi and marill to see what type they were and going crazy for failing!
The Pokémon jhoto season of the anime is like, one of the seasons I remember watching at my aunts house with my younger cousin. I also remember briefly watching that one episode of the diamond and pearl anime where it was snowing outside and ash was using tortera in a gym battle. Plus I saw a few seconds of the hoen anime and that’s it
It has a lot of filler. But pacing aside its honestly better than Indigo and Orange Islands in everyway. From animation, to characters to even battles.

I remember when this episode first aired. Gold & Silver was nearing its release in Japan, and it had gotten previewed in Nintendo Power's E3 coverage. We were already seeing reveals of next-gen pokemon like "Pikablu" (eventually named Marill) and here was this Pokemon episode revealing another. The hype was real.

It's been a while since this video was done but Liam I'm surprised you didn't put an "Ash is a hacker, confirmed" moment because after the lick on psyduck, Ash says "good now use tickle attack!" when tickle wasn't introduced until Gen 3.
