I classify this as a gentleman’s sport bike for us older riders past the hair on fire days. Does require ditching the factory exhaust that’s for sure but this is one of the most pleasant sport bikes I’ve ever ridden
Totally agree, my wife's had one since 2016 and I enjoy riding it every now and then, this year I decided to switch from bigger bikes to the 500x for myself. Very fun bikes
There is only one guy you need who can talk and teach you about motorcycles and that is MotoJitsu !
I want this bike, but its too expensive in China, the msrp is 69800RMB(9556.3878USD),and the after tax and insurance price is about eleven thousands USD😂.
I don't think is worth 11000USD price,fxxk Honda China😤
400R is not far away from 500R😂 from what I heard now the Wuyang CBR400R just needs around 38000RMB if you count the discount, I was wondering why there is no 400R in the States, smaller displacement, but cheaper, and a higher RPM😂
@@kencai6803 yes,you are quite right. But honda in China is hesitation, they want to make cbr500 competitive, which resulted in cbr400 being an old vision.😂 I heard they want upgrade it and I will wait a few mouths.
Move out of a communist s@#thole.
@@superleggenda In China the price of 450SR is way cheaper than Ninja400 and CBR400R, which makes it a bargain, but questionable reliability since it just came out for just a few years. (And a fun fact, all motorcycle in China are forced to scrapped after 13 years from the day you bought it)
Awesome bike. I've had two. Sold them because I wanted more power. Now that I'm more experienced I would go back to this.
but why not the cbr650 instead?
Thanks for these ride reviews, they're great! I watch them for fun, even if I have no intention of ever getting the bike you're riding.
Simply excellent! Thank you so much!
Dear MotoJitsu.
I just want to put out there that over the past summer I finally took the step and took the MSF course and acquired my Motorcycle permit. I plan on going to get my license soon. YOU HAVE BEEN A MASSIVE HELP. I have learned so much from you. Anytime I am having difficulty with a specific aspect of riding I come here and always find what I need. You're a fantastic teacher and I know I will be using you has a learning resource for a long time to come.
I have had a TU250x for probably 2 months and have put 1,200 miles on it so far. It is a fantastic bike to commute to work on and great for doing half day trips around town. I can do Brown belt pretty easily as of now. I am defiantly wanting something bigger, considering a Ninja 650r, and this, do you have any other suggestions for me? Do you think I may as well spring for the 650. I see myself doing some really road trips in the future, would the 500 be suitable for that?
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!
I actually took my class with that bike and its really great lol. Glad you passed and you'll love riding lol!
doing tricks on it
Which is better the Cv650 or this bike?
Another Great Clip !!! Bought this last week ,Same ol guy in Colorado, ,still loving this stuff, Also got the 2024 Gsx8 r after watching your vine, Keep em coming ,or better yet,Stop!!! Im gonna run out of money after seeing your clips :)
Hey man I got the 22 year love the bike the seat position is so dope and comfortable and one full tank lasts 330 km if you don’t rev the shit out of it 😂
Thank you for doing this review!! You officially sold me on this bike and will be getting one!! I was debating between this and the CBR650R but you showed me this one will work just great for what I like! THANK YOU AGAIN!!
650r is a four cylinder .. that alone wud make me buy the 650
@@hast42 depends on whether you're a new rider or not. Starting out on a 650 is a death sentence
I know the 650r is a four cylinder and the 500r is a v-twin but Im not looking to max out power on twisties or in city like others. I just want to enjoy my ride.
@@smokeythegreat7131 ya good thought process, 500r is a beautiful bike ,im sure you will love it :)
@@joe4916 Agreed mate.
Currently on a Suzuki Tu250x, had it about a month and have done a bit over 1,000 miles so far. Considering this as my upgrade, plan to keep the TUX but it's very unhappy over 60 MPH
I have same experience.
It's quite heavy though at 423lbs/191kg for a 500cc twin cylinder 180 degree crank. Although, it has very good fuel consumption & safe speed, not aggressive at all, and not as torqy as the 270 degree crank found in the 450S & R7
i love the color sir
I started with a CR80 dirtbike at 13 years old. Then I went to a YZ125, then a YZ250 by the time I was 16... Then from age 19 until my mid 30's , I owned a CR500. My last dirtbike was my KX500 that I sold last year. Anyway, I just never got around to getting my motorcycle license until last year. I took the two day MSF Course, and then bought my first motorcycle... A very rare in the US, 2008 Suzuki GSX650F that weighs 532 pounds wet. It has an 85 HP / 45 LB-FT, 656cc Inline-4 with a 6-speed manual. I had absolutely no problem with the weight. In fact, everything I've ridden since has felt light and so easy to ride. Well, one year and 9,000 and change miles later... No issues whatsoever! I never dropped my bike, knock on wood. I even ran an 11.844 @ 111.35 in the 1/4 mile on my first and only run during a busy summer day at the strip...I beat Cycle World's time of 11.94 @ 110.1 with their '08 GSX650F at the time. It's no 10 second sport bike obviously, but I hit 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with this bike, and it feels faster than my KX500 at all speeds, especially the faster you go. It has good power for a first m/c... Not sure if there's an advantage to owning a heavy first motorcycle? I truly believe it helped me learn to adapt quicker. My dirtbike experience definitely helped as well. Anyway, sorry for the long comment. I always enjoy your videos man! 👍
I forgot to mention... I'm easily flat-footed with my knees even slightly bent on my GSX650F. The seat height is 30.1 inches. I'm 5'10" 185 pounds with pretty long legs with my 33 & 1/4 inch inseam. I wonder if there are any stock bikes that would have me on my tiptoes with my weight & 33+" inseam? So far, I've been flat-footed on every motorcycle I've sat on.
Nice review. Really cool looking motorcycle here. The 2024 Ninja 500 is close competition and for the base model, close to 2 grand less expensive from what I saw on their websites.
Can you make a review of Honda Cbr650r ?
After having ridden so many bikes, which bike above 75-80bhp do you think compares to the seating position of this 500r? I liked the position but its a bit too weak of a bike for my use
Great review. There's 1 for sale about an hour away from me. I'm 6"1' and I'm 90kg (about 220lbs) so just wondering how you think I'd fit on it? The not so aggressive stance is perfect for me
im 5’8 and can put both half of my feet on the ground
You will perfectly on it I am 6'7 and 105 and can ride it fine

I want to get a bike SO BAD but I have to wait till summer till I can even take classes (so that I dont have to get a permit n everything, I can just go straight to the dmv for a license) and I plan on a Cbr500r being my first
Where can you take the classes?
Msf course @@voltxge9544
Do Honda 500s still have the little cubby under the seat? My old 1990s CB500 had enough space for a padlock & chain, just aft of the battery. So useful!
A small cubby under the passenger seat. Not much room
dang what is that color scheme? i love that color!
How is the position on this bike? I heard its more upright than the usual sportbike position
It is. Comparable to a ninja 400
Low pegs, high handlebars
I have a 500 it’s a little like a touring bike but if you wanna tuck it’s good for that as well
way comfier than the ninja 400, you can still get a good tuck cause the seat is kinda long
Would it be comfortable for a100 mile ride ? I usually do around 100 miles on Saturdays
Yes, it’s very comfortable. You could ride it all day long.
So as a new rider and a 6ft 240ish lb guy is this a good starter bike for me? I always hear mixed answer between friends and bike shops
Maybe a Triumph Tiger Sport 660, depending on what type of bike you're looking for.
I have a 2021 Honda CBR500R white in color. It is a great bike. Only thing I've done is put a LV-10 slip on exhaust on. Feels good going 100. Hit it way more than I should. 😂
I just put the same exhaust on mine, same year…sounds SO nice! Just enough grumble and pops to give it a mean enough sound. These bikes are great
@@troyg6968 They are! I just ordered a front and rear sprocket and new chain. So I'll be replacing the factory ones. I'll let you know how it does! 🤣
I’m 6’5 and cant stop worrying if im gonna look like a bear on a bicycle when I ride.Anybody know how it fits tall riders?
Is this beginner sport bike friendly or is it like in the middle class inbetween 300 and big bikes?
I've got a 2013 and as a beginner bike it's super forgiving but still fun to ride. I think these are around 47 hp
My Brother bought a first generation one when he was 18 in 2013 as his first bike and has put 23’000 km on it. We live an hour east of Toronto Ontario Canada and he has had no complaints of lack of power and handling has been enjoyable. He has done multiple 5-6 hour rides in a single day with minimal comfort complaints. Given it’s larger weight and tire size when compared to 300cc class bikes it feels more grown up but with only marginal increase in power and torque still seems manageable to the new rider.
should i get this or cf450ss or the ninja 500
How would I know?
Would you have Honda cbr500 or KTM?
Depends where you want to ride it dude. For the road, the Honda is best, no question. For the track, the KTM could be better. Maintenance is more of an issue the the single cylinder KTMs as well.
Screen backlight seems shit. But going for it anyway (blindly on Honda maybe
Im 5'11 or 180cm am i too big for that bike? Would i feel uncomfortable
The CBR500R is a bigger, spacier bike than the Ninja 400, is why it's so damn heavy, it would suit you fine.
Im 190cm tall, is this to small for me?
hahaha it might feel like a cruiser seat's height for you. im a 168cm woman and I can flatfoot the ground with my legs bent a decent amount
@@whathappenedtothegoodolday8067 oh boy guess i gotta look for another bike
I'm 193cm and ride this bike no problems. If you're worried about it, just to a shop and sit on a few. Only way to really know what fits your body.
I’m 6’2 how would this fit me?
Go sit on it
I’m 6’1” and it felt great to me.
Will fit you well im 6’4 and comfortable
I am 6'4, would this be good bike?
Good bike for what? New rider? Track bike? Touring? Do you already have a license? First bike? 3rd bike? I have no idea since I have no clue who you are or your background or your goals.
I am a new rider. I just got my permit and trying to find the right back as a starter. Looking at the Honda CBR500R. I am just worried that I would not be able to fit comfortably. Any input?@@MotoJitsu
Yessir I got this as my first bike im 6’4 also very comfortable to ride 👍🏼
Wait a sec is this Chula Vista
türkiyede değeri bilinmeyen motor
Such a shame we don't get this colorway in Europe. We just have ist in black and that ugly red and blue.
Yes indeed a great beginner bike, but got bored in 1 month, and lost 3000$ 😢😢😢( 2023 cbr500r )!!! Changed it for a RS660 Aprilia 2023 .👍👍👍( 💲 20,495 + 3000$ add on to the financing 😢😢😢)
I got a cbr300, month and a half and I still get anxious before I ride it. But yea dude not many people can afford to lose 3k$ and buy another bike for 6k$.
Only weight that i dont like about the bike
it s just too expensive
When you consider the excellent fuel economy, long service intervals and high reliability, it evens out over time.
this guy obsessed with brakes and confort
Why not when we ride on the street mainly? It makes sense to me
30 MPH over the speed limit he need to be obsessed with brakes , I don't so I am not.
Confort
it is NOT a beginners bike.
This isn't a super sport.
I had this 💩
Too heavy for the power it generates.
has nothing but ABS.
its beautiful, only.
Needless to say Honda is less value for money compared to themost brands.
KTM Duke 390 is better bike for a similar price tag
Disagree. The Honda is a ROAD bike NOT a race bike.
Race bikes are great on a race track but are terrible on the road.
Yup, a bit porky for a 500
Disagree. KTM doesn’t have the same quality/reliability as Honda, is much less comfortable, and (imo) doesn’t look nearly as good. As an owner of a 2020 cbr500r, think of it more like a mini sport tourer. It’s a fantastic daily driver that has easily enough power for normal riding conditions, has fantastic fuel economy, and comfortable ergonomics.
