I've noticed rattling around 5k rpm...then I realized it was my keys/keychain
500miles? Keep that girlfriend. ❤
So far so good.
I'm planning on making it my first bike next week hopefully. It's suppose to be comfortable, and the added weight is suppose to make it more stable on the highways vs the ninja 400... I just want to cruise... but love the look of sport bikes. Good MPG too with a 4.5 gallon tank. I can't wait.
Good luck with the purchase! Honda nailed it with this bike, as usual.
Very good review. My son has a cb500f and one of your other videos helped him do a chain and sprocket replacement.
Just my two cents, I can’t get over how Americans see this as a beginner bike. We have it stuck in our heads that if it isn’t a liter bike or a cruiser over 1800ccs, then it’s a beginner bike. And although problem “think” they are fun to ride, they just aren’t very practical. But Hondas 500 bikes are very practical and very easy to ride. The 500f is so simple I like riding my sons bike instead of old VFR.
Anyway, I did enjoy the CBR videos and hope to see more. And seeing you run the bike in the foothills of the coast range made me miss home.
Thank you. I agree with all that. The 500 is enough bike for me... 95% of the time. I'll never sell it. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any 500r video ideas. Take care!
Really liked the clip,Well done.Old guy in Colorado still riding an Loving it
What a great review thanks!
I love my 500 , I have a couple of Bikes but for the city this is the one I prefer the most. There is a way to make it a bit.. Faster 0-100mph by changing the Gearing (minus 1 in the Front sprocket) n adding a stage 2 air intake and of course removing all the un necessary weight. Plate bracket, mirrors n Muffler. Adding some Pirelli Rosso 3 or 4 will improve dramatically cornering. This combo helps launches you off the line like Rocket. But Top speed was reduced to 100mph.
Loved the video , I didnt know I could do those many mods to my 500cc. Maybe in the future i will use this video as inspiration to personalize my bike.
There aren't a lot of aftermarket options for these bikes, but you can find some good stuff out there if you look hard enough. Thanks for watching!
I dig that rear hugger. I think I am going to get one for mine. It goes farther back at the top of it than I thought. Ride safe.
I have the 2013. Love it even if it doesn't turn heads. Great fuel consumption. Perfect commuter. Zips around traffic congestion. Just wish I had a garage to do my own repairs. What money I save on gas is handed back to the mechanic
Please make a video on that gear indicator. Thanks for the videos
Noted: do not do business with Corbin.
Yeah the good old days way gone.
Great video. I'm thinking about getting this bike. I currently have a VTX 1300 and I will be keeping it for my long distance rides. I will be getting this Honda for commuting to work etc. Awesome video.
Thank you. The 500r is definitely better suited for commuting than long distance riding, so keeping the other bike is probably a good choice. I still love my 500r but would like to get a 2nd bike one day with a little more power.
Nice video man just subbed I got the 2022 model I love the bike it’s a masterpiece
Very nice! Wish I could ride a new one to see what the updates are like. Thanks for the sub and feel free to suggest any 500r video ideas!
@@EndlessMoneyPits quickshifter maybe
Oh, that's a fun idea!
I just ordered a quick shifter. Looks like a simple installation so I should be able to get a video up pretty quickly. Thanks again for the idea!
The colors of this bike is more to my taste. The white makes it appear more streamline.I'm looking for this bike as my daily commuter.I'm in my fifties now and don't need to go 100mph for any reason.Ride safe!!!
holy your reason for buying/commute is nearly identical to mine. I have put almost 80k on my truck and this among obviously loving bikes is why im getting one
great reviewed by the way.....
Thank you
Great video, can you make a video on how to install the gear indicator
Thank you. Yes, people keep asking for that so I'll have to do it.
The color scheme of your bike looks really good man! I'm thinking of going with an sr1 scorpion exhaust. Carbon fiber/red ring
Thank you. The fairings took some damage on my recent move cross county so I'm looking for some white paint to match. Not real happy about that but I'll do my best to repair it. I think that scorpion exhaust is the one I put on my friend's 500x in another video. Sounds great.
@@EndlessMoneyPitshope you can get her repaired, good as new. Wish the best for ya
Very well put video mate i have the exact same model and color and i can agree with every single point you've said in the video. I also tried to make a review but it's nowhere near as good as yours! Love the cbr content
Thank you, this was a fun one to make. These bikes are just the best. Pretty cool you have the same exact one! Any CBR topic requests?
@@EndlessMoneyPits Throw anything that's related with my favorite bike in the world and I'll watch it bro! As you said in the video some modifications and stuff. Whatever is on your mind
I put some thought into it
Thank you for adding metric!
All videos should.
DO a video on the Gear indictor and how you installed it Please also any video on the tail tidy install?
Thanks, I'll add those to the list of video ideas.
Great review!
Hoping to get in the future the 2022 version since the previews ones only have a single front brake disc
And as a beginner I’d feel more comfortable 😊
I think it’s a great bike
The dual front brake looks nice. ABS is the way to go too. They are great bikes, hope you enjoy it!
Hello, you have very useful content. Could you please post the link for the rear fender? thanks.😊
Thank you. All the links could find are in the video description.
I'm so set on this bike, waiting for the 2024 model to hit the market.
1)I saw the Yoshi on their official channel and I thought it sounded great.
Until someone commented it sounds like a naked, not a sports bike.
I thought that made sense.
Don't know if you'd agree.
2) The guy that suggested to shorten the gearing, does he own one, I'm curious,or did he mention it as a general suggestion for all bikes.
Because there's a thing as too short and there's the ideal gearing.
This bike hits the rev limiter at 177km/h true speed/189 indicated, well over max power.
Max performance as far as top speed is concerned is achieved at,say,150 revs over max power.
Add the fact this is a torquey parallel twin and there's a case to be made the gearing is actually woefully short.
I understand why Honda would do this since there's not a lot of power there, they have to accommodate heavier riders and also make it livelier for reviewers and owners alike.
I can also see that at 75mph the engine is already well past max torque revs so there's defo a lot of room for lengthening the gearing.
Looking forward to getting mine in a few months and reassessing my comment, might be epic or may be embarrassing.
Happy riding 😁
I'm not sure how the exhaust changes the sound between sport and naked. That's not an opinion I'd ever heard before. This engine is always going to sound like a parallel twin. Personally, I'm really happy with the Yoshimura both for the sound and looks.
It makes sense what you said about this motor not being ideal for a shorter gearing compared to other bikes. I bet it will do just fine when I go to longer than factory gearing. The person who suggested shorter gearing does own a 500r, but he probably got the idea from other bikes that are more suitable for this change. It just doesn't seem like this motor needs any extra leverage to accelerate faster - there's plenty torque.
Best of luck with your upcoming purchase! You can't go wrong with a Honda motorcycle.
Did you get one?
Gracias
Still planning on making a follow up video about the Quad Lock? I look forward to it!
Yeah, I think I will still do that. In the middle of moving cross country at the moment but I'll get back to filming in a couple weeks.
Can you make a video on how to install a gear shift indicator
Sure, I'll put that on the list.
That girl is a keeper!
Fortunately, alot of the issues that aren't tied to engine/environmental performance have been fixed. The new dash has a gear indicator and LEDs are standard all around. I haven't actually ridden on a new model cbr500r, so I'm not sure on how the powerband is
Did you ever make a video on how to fix the rattling sound in the front? I got one a week ago and it does it a lot at 5k rpm
Not yet but I've been meaning to do that. Pretty sure I know whats rattling so I'll try to get on it soon. Thanks!
Sounds like a smart buy.
Where is that rear tire mud guard/hugger from?
There's an Amazon link for it in the description.
Clean bike bro
bought one yesterday used. When i come to a stop it stalks everyime. help please
It stalls? I would check for a clogged air filter, pinched fuel line, or dirty spark plugs. Also check the battery voltage. Should be 12.6v off and around 14 while running. If the voltage doesn't go up while running then the magneto may need to be replaced. Just throwing things out there.
i have 2021 cbr500r.(i still have it almost 3 years and loving it) ..I am using in the canyons and i am using for track...i just changed rear seat and clip on...changing sprocket to get faster shifter...super nice and highway is awesome at 90mph...Yamie Noob..meh...he got money from review...suggested not to low the bike...keep it as it is..I am not flat foot but make a different if you dont low the bike...
Yammie noob hates on every bike
Thinking of this as my first bike it jut ticks so many boxes
It's been a great bike for me. Buy used to save money if you plan to upgrade in a couple years.
raising the bike for 6,4 really nessesary?
Don't ask me I'm 5' 10"
@@EndlessMoneyPits good personality tho, so dont worry babes
lol
Not Showa, not 2 disks , 2023 bersion - much better!!!???
This bike doesn't need two front brakes. They put those on the new bikes for looks but it just adds weight IMO.
Go beavs bro.
They just updated for 2024 🔥. I have a Duke 390 just for commuting and it’s almost perfect. But thinking of upgrading to the new cbr500 for a little better top end and better stability on the highway
Nice, this is the first I've heard of a 2024 update. The difference between your 390 and the 500 might not feel very significant. I'd also consider something in the 650 class, but I do love my 500r.
@@EndlessMoneyPits I forgot it’s just announced for Europe so far but I’m sure it will be new redesign for 2024 everywhere else too. Nothing too major but new tft looks nice.
Ya I know power wise it will be almost the same , but I’m not really looking for more power , I just want good gas mileage and I think the extra weight of the 500r would be better than the Duke on the highway and a little more sporty riding position. I know it’s not a super sport riding position but my Duke is like a scooter. My back is straight up and down 😂
In that case the 500r might be perfect for you. Take a test ride if you get the chance.
