*When you are returning to black metal retrospectives here's a few bands that I think you should check out later worth not leaving out of the big picture:*
Well these are more like groups of bands.
    1. Tormentor - Aside from Venom, HellHammer/Celtic Frost, MercifulFate/KingDiamond, and some stuff from Slayer and Kreator, the band Tormentor is also mentioned as one of the unintentional fathers of "First Generation Black Metal" which is more like Thrash really. Since then countless bands covered some of their songs, including Dissection, Watain, Hypocrisy, Mayhem, and god knows who else. Tormentor is the original band of Attila Csihar, who became Mayhem's overly artistic but undoubtedly high quality vocalist. The band has ties to another band Korog, which is later modern technical black and roll. As a side note, Attila has collaborated with approximately 20 bands in his life. Tormentor was the original name of Kreator.
    2. Opthalamia & Dissection - Opthalamia was a band where both Jon Nödtveidt and Erik 'Legion' Hagstedt were bandmates once. Later the band Dissection became one of the most respected "second generation black metal" and widely liked by even outsiders of the genre. Their music was like if an old 'melody-centered' (deliberately not wrote melodic) death metal band became black metal, and used a few heavy metal moves here and there. The album art of The Somberlain comically resembles King Diamond's Abigail. I think their skill can mostly be heard while listening to the album Live Legacy. Old pre-2000 live show footages are a treasure to watch! The german technical death metal band Obscura (having common members with the now defunct prodigies Necrophagist) bembers have formed a black metal band called Thulcandra (named after a Darkthrone song inspired by a novel) which is pretty much carrying on the legacy of Dissection. A few of the Dissection members have appeared in the band Watain, and unfortunately the shameful Deathstars too. Dissection and God Dethroned are considered the most important prototypes of blackened death metal.
    3. Charmand Grimloch's Tartaros - To get a full picture of Emperor, one needs to look at this project of one of their synthesizer players as a short detour. And excellent and freakish entry into psychedelic black metal.
    4. Mysticum & Aborym - Industrial black metal of the best and oldest kind. The former is a total misanthropic experimentation from Norway. The latter is where it gets interesting. Aborym is an Italian band of many many sides. They always mix industrial black metal of different extents with other elements, like roman pagan metal, and sometimes jazz. Aborym has collaborated with Faust of Emperor, Attila Csihar, Prime Evil of Mysticum, and a few other interesting people. Another mentionable band would be Anaal Nathrakh which is industrial black grindcore from Britain, but with many common members. The two best Aborym albums worth checking out are Kali Yuga Bizarre and the incredible Generator.
    5. Limbonic Art & Dimension F3h - Limbonic Art is the non-chaotic, excellently planned, little brother of Emperor. Focusing on the artistic aspects of Emperor's music steered towards an almost ritualistic direction. Although, some albums/songs just rip your face off. While both Emperor and Limbonic Art could be the most intelligent black metal bands of their era, the latter didn't do anything wrong. Well, not before their members parted ways. It was later reformed with half the original membership after a brief split, forming a lesser copy of itself, and a spinoff band Dimension F3h which is more like "Blackened Power/Thrash with occasional industrial elements". The first 5 albums of Limbonic Art are incredible, with the 2nd being the best and the 3rd being the least good.
    6. Zyklon-B & Myrkskog & Zyklon -> The Wretched End - Overarching the "Emperor-family" story: Zyklon-B was a pseudo-NSBlack band with very little material. Samoth was part of it from Emperor. Myrkskog was one of the first deliberate blackened death metal bands and has released excellent material! When Emperor was starting to lose it's creativity with the onset of Prometheus, the background formation of a new band was being concieved. Emperor's Samoth and Trym, together with Myrkskog's DestrucThor, one of Limbonic Art's vocalists, Garm from Ulver, and Faust writing lyrics, the band Zyklon was formed to create a breathtaking mix of black, death, thrash, and industrial pieces, with phylosophical-political end days lyrics occasionally masked by weather forcast phrasing. Yes you read that right! Their first album is one of the best metal materials ever made!! Unfortunately their uniqueness and energy somehow dissipated and the two more albums they created didn't shine as much. They continued under the name The Wretched End adding microscopically more hardcore elements. Further successes can be seen by noticing DestrucThor being a part-time guitarist in Morbid Angel, and now in the black metal band Nordjevel.
    7. Dimmu Borgir & Old Man's Child - You should set aside all your teenage rebellion and actually give early DB material a chance. From their formation up to 2005 their music was indeed of quality, if not necessarily only aimed at black metal fans. They started out as this weird melodic raw pagan black project where the original members were doing quite different roles. Their 1995 album Stormblast [Storm blown] is a flawless piece of sincere music. Their 1999 Spiritual Black Dimensions is one of the most intelligent metal masterpiece albums ever made and it can still be considered fully black metal, together with it's forerunner EP, a kind of intro album, Godless Savage Garden. Their 2001 and 2003 albums are also completely good metal albums that fans of many genres can listen to. Unfortunately after that it all goes down hill. Old Man's Child is pretty much their little retarded brother band. DB has musically collaborated with members of bands Mayhem or The Kovenant or Arcturus, Susperia, Carpe Tenebrum, Vader or Vesania or Black River, Nile, and artists Snowy Shaw and many more. BM members have ventured into collaborations with Ragnarok, Chrome Division, and Borknagar.
    8. Behemoth & Vesania - Poland is a weird place which births incredible talent. The death metal band Vader was for long time the only representation of extreme metal there, occasionally crossing over to blackened territory, but eventually the band Behemoth was formed. Behemoth was a quite good black metal band initially, but when they started to create blackened death metal they became even better. Unfortunately after doing their album Apostasy, they lost all creativity it seems, and now just sound like some post-black metalcore shit. Vesania is a highly experimental symphonic black metal band which started to incorporate relatively technical death metal into their style. Their second album is extremely good by the name God the Lux! These bands are associated with Decapitated technical death metal legends, Black River which is a stoner/dirty rock'n'roll band, Vader of course, and Dimmu Borgir.

First time you said "Norwegic", I thought maybe I heard wrong, but I heard it more times. I get that not everyone knows that in most Nordic languages, the W's have a V sound, and the R's roll, so it would sound like "Vin Deer" and then roll the R at the end, but we learn about countries in grade school geography/social studies here in America, it is required learning. I am sincerely not trying to be a dick, I just hope nobody from Norway watches this, they hate us so much already, aside from the fact that they love our money in their pockets, I mean most times they don't even see us Americans as intellectual peers/equals because of how undereducated we are here, and who can blame them for being that way. I am American in a sense that I was born here, and my ancestors are from here (pre-European Inquisition/Christianization), but that is all incidental, and not pertinent to the fact that people from Nordic countries will only ever see the dumb American tourist, because that is all they hear about or see. Regardless, thanks for making a video about Windir. Been a fan since late 90s. Consider this constructive criticism, and not an insult please.
