Yes, The Voice of Steel has the property of being 100% quality. Not a single second is wasted. The middle portion of "By the Path of the Sun" probably has the best folk metal I have ever heard, and it's my fave as well :-).

I. I read something about Varggoth dedicated In the gates of blasfemous fire to Khlyist from Lucifugum in those years.Maybe that is the reason to be the most brutal album of Nokturnal Mortum.
Verity may by far even be my favorite NM album, I didn't think they could ever top voice of steel, not that they necessarily did, but Verity is easily on par with it's predecessor.

I'm a big fan of the NM, starting from of 1996, and I never judge music by political views no matter right or left wing, but just for sake of the truth : original issue of NeChrist had 88 tracks (achieved by a lot of empty 2sec tracks), celtic cross made of Kalshnikows, thanks to all Kharkiv skinheads, etc... Vargot and Saturios at that period also had a project Arayan Terrorism. So let's be honest it's not only about one song :)))) But nevertheless - the album is just great!

Nechrist's best song for me is the classic "In the Fire of the Wooden Churches". It opens with a raw riff that goes for a while and then Lord Vaggoth's vocals kick in, leaving me amazed with this album!! Hail Nokturnal Mortum!!! 🤘🤘

That's not true. I've talked to Munruthel & Varggoth online. They've both seen my wife (a woman of color) in pics with me. Nokturnal Mortum has tons of fans who aren't white. I'm pretty sure they dropped the political angle because of that reason and now they're more popular than ever before.

At the gates of blasphemous fire is my NM go to. I agree that The taste of victory and Weltanschauung are subpar. But with The voice of steel they destroyed any band attempting black metal at that time.
And where is the mini-album The Taste Of Victory? Another album 2003 - Return Of The Vampire Lord - Marble Moon? 2004 - Eleven Years Among The Sheep? Black_Clouds_Over_Slavonic_Lands (demo).
Well a lot of young ukrainian underground-ish ppl were into NS stuff back in late 90's-early 00's. I think it comes from the very spirit of those times (if you didn't live in Ukraine, you probably don't feel it, which is okay really) - radical political views comes from the hardships of life in whole country and uncertainty in the future, and it's very true for post-soviet Ukraine, which culture were like 50% destroyed by russians in 20-70s and in 90s started almost from a scratch. So young men and women searched for some common ground in crisis times (i remember getting monthly paychecks ~20 bucks) , searched for simple answers to hard questions. Times changed, and NM changed with them - to the better, imho
