I think they should bury the hatchet and get back together they would probably get popular. Demonaz needs to put the band back together if anything. What he doing now does anybody know ? It's a great album and better than anything Abbath has released. Abbath will be here in Chicago Apirl 10th with Mayhem.
What I like about Immortal is that they focus on being good musicians making solid music, not on being super-kvlt. I also really like the witty tongue-in-cheek aspect of their presentation. They are not pretentious and don't take themselves too seriously.
My favorite Black Metal band by far, they make this perfect 'cold winter' music, it's not just music, it actually feels like an essence of winter of sorts. Immortal is amazing! At the Heart of Winter, Damned in Black and Sons of Northern Darkness my favorite Black Metal albums! Also the comical part is what makes them even greater! It resembles Loki in a way, not just generic "evil" like Gorgoroth or Behemoth, which feels like a bit too much in my opinion.
Thank god for that tendinitis, otherwise we wouldn't have had At the Heart of Winter, which is their best album imo, and one of the crown achievements in the Black metal genre
Immortal are brilliant song writers. I don't know how to explain it but they know how to create an awesome, epic atmosphere without resorting to keyboards. They also have an exotic sound and their guitar work reminds me of Trey Azagthoth at times, and I love their guitar tone. They're definitely one of the most original and talented of the early Norwegian black metal bands. I've always loved At The Heart of Winter. Every damned track on that album is exceptional imo.
I hear you but what is really "pure black metal?" Sorry I am not one of those who runs around yelling "This is true, true...some idiots don't think it's "true" if something is released on a major label. For me I love Black Metal and even though I have been listening to Venom since they came out....WATAIN to me is by far the best B< band that ever lived and not just because their music is awesome. However you will have someone say something bad about them (how one could I will never understand) but all of this "true" shit..I don't go for it. At The Heart shows so much fucking talent, it is amazing. The guitars present such an awesome atmosphere. I hear you though. Some people will tell me how great Emperor is and I like their early work, especially Anthems but those dudes are a bunch of pussies for what they did in 1999, (when after 3 gigs of their 10c city US tour they went running home like a bunch of pussies pissing all over their fans who were dying to see them. I have no respect for that. I sued to work for NBA and Dimmu's first USA tour, half of the people who saw that tour saw it for FREE and places were half packed, if that. What did they do, they kept coming over to tour and their following became pretty big in the US and it still would be if they did not change their entire style of the band. To me it is much more about the music, it's ow much you care. I always loved Immortal but I loved them even more when they toured the US more than once. So as for "true?" To me nothing is totally "true." Touring is a BIG deal to me.
He means the more heavy and thrash metal influenced riffing. I prefer calling it a different expanded style. Same with the hellenic scene (Rotting Christ, Varathron, Necromantia), which hasnt the second wave riffing, but counts as black metal!
I've lost count of how many times I nearly pissed myself from laughter watching "call of the winter moon". It's on par with classic Charlie Chaplin and Monty Python.
I think Demonaz got the last laugh on this one. After resurrecting the Immortal name, he released Northern Chaos Gods (and recently another one I haven't heard yet) which, in my humble opinion, blows away anything Abbath did. It's like Pure Holocaust, but even better
Them and Darkthrone lasted this long because the wya didn’t take themselves seriously into loser edgelord territory and babble on about how evil and dark they are
It's funny how you and a lot of people say that you wouldn't want to see how Immortal would turn out without Abbath, but the new Immortal album released by Demonaz pretty much shits on Abbath's album and it is as good as any other Immortal album. I think this shows that Demonaz was a big driving force for the band even after he stopped playing guitar, and that in all of those years his contribution was a lot more that just writing lyrics and being a manager
Gonna have to disagree with you on At The Heart of Winter, especially with Years of Silent Sorrow. Some of the best BM out there in my opinion. Couldn't agree more on Sons of Northern Darkness though. Fantastic video as always
I have to dissagree here mate, At heart of winter is my favorite album by them, closely followed by the first album. Agree about Damned in Black though, sounded way too messy overal. The constant falling snow was a nice touch though
So, I read in an interview with Demonaz that Abbath actually learned to play guitar from him. The guitar-styles of both are so different, that I wouldn't go so far to say that abbath is a better guitar player since he learned from Demonaz
And I must disagree with you about the new Abbath album. It rocks, course i'm not a strict black metaller, but good metal is good metal and I love the new album!

@@TheVoltConjurer 😂😂😂😂 true
That is why i love this fucking band
What is wrong whit fun??
Immortal has no bad albums 🤘
Sons of Northern Darkness is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish, perfect Black Metal album for me
Crystal Clean I agree
Same for me
Crystal Clean could not have said it better, one of the best BM albums of all time!!!
Definitely one of the absolute best of the 2000s
Yeah that and All shall fall are the very best of black metal albums.
What I like about Immortal is that they focus on being good musicians making solid music, not on being super-kvlt.
I also really like the witty tongue-in-cheek aspect of their presentation. They are not pretentious and don't take themselves too seriously.
I also like how they didn’t take Black Metal to the extremes of terrorism in Norway 🇳🇴
One reason I like belphegor
Immortal is so damn good its hard to choose a favorite album. For me its either Sons of northern darkness, at the heart of winter or pure holocaust.
Daniel Hernandez2 that’s like a third of them😂
Heart of Winter is their masterpiece, I think.
At the heart of winter is the most memorable and has a great sound
The opening riff on Withstand The Fall
Of Time makes me instantly think of giant icebergs and cold weather.
"Demon-Ass"
yeah brutal! :D :D :D
Hes a legend
At the heart of winter is A fucking masterpiece. I love that last song! Come on man!
"Never really did anything for me"

My favorite Black Metal band by far, they make this perfect 'cold winter' music, it's not just music, it actually feels like an essence of winter of sorts. Immortal is amazing! At the Heart of Winter is my favorite Immortal album. I love the sound, and some of the riffs are fantastic.
I am almost 60 years old and Immortal has been full on assaulting me for a loooooong time! I absolutely love them and always will!! 🎸🥁🔱⚫️🇧🇻❄️🍻
Almost 60? I'd say you've aged like fine wine 😍. I'm 27 btw 😂

Northern Chaos Gods is amazing
My #1 favorite Black Metal band, period. Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism was absolutely great but when I heard Sons of Northern Darkness I fell for them

Immortals DVD which I lost in a bad storage deal was awesome, I very rarely got to watch it & I'd like to get another copy.
Battles in the North is a CLASSIC album.

The drums for Pure Holocaust were played much slower and sped up during mastering hence the trebley sound, if internet rumors are anything to go on.
