This happens on mine too. I can usually push on the relay wiggle it a bit and it starts fine. Is there a way to make the relay for tighter? After all it is sideways above the rear wheel. Every bump probably shakes it loose.

I removed the box and found the connection (probes in back of the box) to the fuel pump relay were loose. I pushed them back in the car started. I may end up buying a new box unless there is some way to tighten up the wires.

I cut a hole in the floor pan to expose the pump, no POWER TO THE PUMP, I add power to the pump, the car runs fine, all fuses good and relay all good cant find an inertia switch, I am Baffeld, any suggestions.

Quick question, should the relay cut right off after trying to start? The fuse has power but the the relay click, when I try to start. They it clicks soon as I stop trying to start

Might not be the fuel pump in a Malibu anyway, could be a melted wire in the back of the black box going to the fuel pump relay.. If you have that problem wiggle all those Wires then go try starting the car.. Try that a few time, If it starts it probably what i said above..

@ikemen1 Having this same problem with a lady's car. Has a crank no start first was replacing the relay and the car would start right up and I thought that was wierd, so I thought it's got to be a short somewhere. The car did it again and this time I just wiggled the relay and started the car and it worked. Thinking it's a short in the wire going to the relay or something is going on with the box.

I changed my relay worked good for 2 weeks. The problem got worst, I have to have some one push on the box and wiggle it and the car will start and STAY ON as long as I need it to drive no problem. When I turn it off, I have the same problem over again and have to repeat the process and have some one help me turn my car on...

@@javiernajera4980 same her bro. Inspect your wires behind your fuse box . And check for a melted fuze inside the actual box. Could be messing up the circuit

So I had this issue with the car. I had different mechanics and shops tell me it was the fuel pump or the rear fuse box. It was never that. It was the wire behind the fuse box going to the fuel pump. I found that because it kept dying on me. The wire was burnt.

So I am going through this now. I have been wiggling the wires behind the fuse box in the truck to get it to start. Which it worked for a few months now, but now when my son drives it home from Houston, he said it acts like its going to stall out but then all of the sudden gets power back. Could he just be hitting bumps knocking the wire loose?

@@crystalstott1869 I had the same issue as your son, I ended up getting a new fuze box from a junkyard and it’s actually not even for the right year for my Malibu, but it’s been driving way more smooth as of now. No more hesitating when I accelerate. I thought I had a wiring issue (which Could still be a possibility) but it’s good right now.
