The Scion tC was a good car, most people where upset with the horsepower output from stock. But they’re fun little cars I had a 2007 and the only problem I had was a squeaking sound coming from the clutch which is a common problem but a little lubricating oil solved the issue. Only other problem was the plastic around radiator started to become fragile and break off easily but the car took a beating and still ran like a charm. Hopefully they remake them in the future with better options lol if they’re plan was to market to young people they need a car with a minimum 300 HP cause young people like me like to go fast all the time 😂

Scotty... Scion was a brilliant piece of marketing. They wanted to give youngster people something identifying with the younger generation. In 2004 _ 2006 Toyota sold a lot of the TC xB cars. We all knew they were Toyota and that was a plus. I used xBs for several bands I was in and we hauled a lot of gear in them. I was a charter member in Nashville's chapter of the Sicotics. We had about 90 cars in that club and Toyota dealers sold us all kinds of mods. I personally think the Scion branding was a pretty smart thing for Toyota to try.

I like those XBs. Hard trying to find a good one where I am though. I looked at one that had some kind of oil leak and they were also being shady with prices. Ugh.

Other than regular maintenance, I've only had to change out a failing blower motor (which was like $60 and took 10 mins to replace). I plan on buying a 2.5 gen Tc in a few years because I do miss that car sometimes.

I live in central CA near the coast. Seven years ago I bought an 88 Fiero V6/five speed in Mankato, MN...flew back and drove it home, swinging by northern Idaho to visit my brother, who also once owned an 88 Fiero......which, incidentally, was the first one I ever drove. This 88 has an unusal history. Because it was the last year made, the dealership displayed it on their showroom floor for seven years and then the owner took it as his own personal car, moving it to Florida and driving it there only when he was on vacation. When I bought it, it had 20K on it, but now has 57K. This is my third Fiero and have driven them exclusively as my driver almost 300K altogether since I purchased my first one in '89.......32 years ago. My other 'car' is a Honda ST 1100 motorcycle and, I turned 80 eight months ago.
Seems like no matter where I go, someone comes up to me wanting to chat with me about my Fiero. Course, that also happens when I drive my 58 GMC 3/4 ton pick up.....so, I'm used to it.
You woudn't, by any chance, like to buy a compact ski boat with a Pontiac 400 in it, would you?
When I bought it in Idaho, it was part of an estate sale and had been in storage for 10 years. It is a fast boat and really needs to be ran on a big lake, like Shasta, but that is 300 miles from here and it has been almost ten years since I've had it on the water.
My wife and I have lieved apart for over 12 years, but now I'm selling out and we're combining households 210 miles north of where I now reside.

how would you compare Scion to a Civic in terms of reliability? I know aftermarket for Scion is pretty limited, so stock vs stock I'd like to know. Debating on a 11-15 civic or 11-16 TC. Both coupe obviously. Do you drive an auto or manual? I can do both, but would like to know how auto lasts mileage wise, thanks!

    • @NMack-is3nb
      @NMack-is3nb 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@dbzownz12345 I would say they're pretty similar. The Scion tC is basically a Camry shoved into a coupe. I've had mine for 10 years. It's got just over a 100k miles and automatic 2010 model. I've only had to make one repair for it which was a pollution sensor. I also threw 2500 into recently to give struts and a tune up. It's been an absolutely great car. It's a Toyota product if you wash it regularly and change the oil often it will last you a long time. I assume most people think they're throwaways because they're not in production anymore but they are definitely a hidden affordable gem. I would say the only downside is they're not great in the snow.

The Scion brand was branded towards young person accessibility. But it was also a concept in ordering one vehicle one model no extra's no take aways. They all where the same the only choice you got was manual or automatic and then hit the aftermarket magazine for customization. Toyota figured by 2012 that with the advant of the cuv craze they didn't need the brand anymore so they reabsorbed it.

The car looks better, more sporty and stylish to me compare to most of the coupes in the price range. People say Horsepower is the turn off, but as a guy who owned V8 with over 300HP before this one, the TC is not that bad as they say in speed. Not crazy for you to race it, but fun enough to enjoy daily driving. Plus, saved me tons of gas money. Wish Toyota didn't discontinue the model though. I only paid $850 for mine because it threw a Rod while the dealer was parking it in back for me to get it the next day. @@Tatiannenaddin The Versa does not have the reputation of being one of the best Nissan cars that's for sure. It seems that around 2007 Nissan cars took a huge drop in reliability.

About Honda distributors: I had a 1978 Accord with a bad distributor. Dealer said their distributors don't have bushings. I asked if he knew anything about friction. He tried to sell me a new one for $160. I fixed it with a couple of bronze bushings I got from an electric motor repair shop. Cost $0.50 and ran for another 5 years.

Good luck aiden I’m sure Scotty can help you I learned a lot from Scotty even though I know a lot about cars myself never bought a car that went wrong on me I always bought them cheap sold them for more because original owners didn’t know what they were worth and sold them bought new ones which is fine so they didn’t care to sell them for cheap and people like me who need something cheap and great go buy them in Canada we have a lot of cheap cars used and for cheap good price in Ontario specially in Toronto we have used cars all over the place very busy city and cheap most people drive new cars or newer ones

You shouldn't spend any more than $3,000 for a first car, because the less money you pay for a car, the less college or trade school debt you need to take out. Student debt is no joke; a lot of people my age can't buy houses because of it.

Went to buy an Isuzu PUP for $200, and I saw a Fiero. long story short, we got both for $1,000 BIG ones.
Ringed the motor and honed the cylinders on the Isuzu, then sold it for $1500!!
Had to replace the clutch, and the heater core. The interior was super clean, and the white paint compounded out. Driving that V 6 was fun, especially on the twisties. I daily drove it for over 2 years, with no repairs. AND, the pop-up headlights even worked!! Ended up taking a $3600 offer from a guy building a kit car.

I’ve had my scion tc m/t for 16 trouble free years. Such a cheap car to own. I will be trading it in today for a bigger car. It crushes me that I have to get rid of a perfectly fine car. But I have to play the good dad and get a car big enough to haul the family and their gear around.

Bought a 82 Accord for $50 in 1993, drove from Dallas TX to Chicago area by way of the Atlantic ocean and I pulled off the freeway in Savannah Georgia and it idled very rough, pulled off the distributor cap and found the bearing shot in the distributor, made it all the way to nw Indiana where I found a junkyard distributor for $50. Drove back to Dallas and sold it for $750... good car...
