Hey Scotty, what’s the best year Toyota Sienna
Scotty, what's your opinion of the Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrafolio? (It better be a good one) 😅
Thank you for finally addressing the 1.5 turbo from honda. I went against your advice and told my mom to buy an accord with this engine. I believe that honda can design a small turbo engine that will be reliable for 200,000 miles. Honda builds great engines and great cars and they are my choice if toyotas are not available.
0:00 Honda CR-V (2002-2006)
7:06 Honda Civic (2016-2021)
15:08 Honda Prelude (Never heard of it)
They don’t make prelude anymore. Epic car. That will always be valuable. My personal favorite Honda is the prelude hands down.
A Honda mechanic on you tube is seeing head gasket issues with newer Honda 1.5L engines.
He recommends going with the 2.0L engine.
What, were you born after 2002?
You've never heard of a Prelude?!😂
Never heard of it??! You need to get out more
My girlfriend has an 08 CRV with 217k and the engine still runs strong. Original transmission also and remarkably the AC is still ice cold. Only thing really is the struts could be done but don’t need to be quite yet. Incredible machine honestly
Grew up with one of those (same year, even), I was furious when it got sold off for some crummy new Mercedes GLC. Solid as a brick, never had any problems and still ran like a dream after 300k. Wonderful car.
These cars don’t break because they don’t have a soul.
@@littledovecitydustyou don't have a soul lmao. only a true passionate auto enthusiast carries a respect for something that has continuously gotten you from a to b because it's about memories. My accord has its own character and you can't trump that. Sorry.
I own a 2013 Civic. Everything is original and everything works. The best vehicle, by far, that I've ever owned!
still driving a 05 CR-V with 160,000 miles , engine and transmission still work perfectly. replaced the ac compressor, spark plud, alternator, and the electronic door switches over the years, other than that it has been serving my family just fine.
For a 18 years old vehicle I think it did an awesome job! I am planning to keep it for another few years.
I spent a few weeks shopping for cheap used cars just recently. I finally settled on a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, which as we know is a Toyota Matrix in disguise. 200k miles and still runs and drives like a dream.
I just bought an 05 Montana sv6. 120k miles.
We just sold our 2004 Honda pilot with a 3.5 V-tech v6 and it did great for our family. Sold it with 260,000 miles on it. We bought a newer Honda pilot.
I can attest to the durability of the CR-V. Our 2004 CR-V has 306,000 miles on it, and is still going strong. Our son borrowed it recently when his 2014 Chevrolet Equinox V6 blew its engine. I told him to buy a CR-V, but he wanted the Equinox. Not as many bells and whistles, but rock solid durability.
Only whistles no bells
How many ac compressor replacements?
My wife had a dark blue 2003 Honda CRV and now owns a 2014 CRV EX.
Both great cars but she misses her 2003.
Your son was trying to be a patriotic American.. 😂😂😂
@@gomertube my son's 2004 Honda Accord V6 still has the original AC compressor.
And no problems with the Automatic transmission.
Regular service maintenance is so important as our cars age.
God bless you Scotty
Just got a 2000 Ford escort 5 speed manual 108k for 1500.
She runs better than alot of these newer cars. I couldn't have found this jewel without your help
I'd give my left nut to get my 99 Escort Wagon back. God, I miss that car
I had a '97 Mercury Tracer, same basic car. Unbelievably bulletproof. Great car.
@@funktron4 I saw that they were similar when I was looking at the Chilton's. Glad to know it's a mini tank.
Be careful about the timing belt on the Escort. I destroyed my engine at 40k
Where are you from?
Tomorrow im gonna be buying my first car, a used 1999 crown Victoria LX partially on your recommendation. Ive always wanted one and your praise of the panther platform in other videos plus informative videos have given me the confidence to think i can keep the old car taken care of.
What panther platform?
Maintain it well, treat it good and it will last practically forever
My advice is this.. Buy japanese if you want a decent used first car with few low maintenance cost.
@@hosamelsayed5723these crown Vic’s are bulletproof even compared to Japanese cars
@@kavehhashemi9448 😂
Scotty, I live south of Houston, my family and friends are all huge fans bro! We miss Crank it Up! But we are grateful for your expertise and hard work that continues! You are the man!
Hi Scotty, here in Quebec , Canada, we get 6 feet of snow, down to -50 with the wind chill and calcium and salt spread on ice roads ice that will rust your car fast. If you rent the car for 3-5 years then you dont really car about the rust but if you keep it than an anti-rust grease treatement is a must if you keep the car for 10 + years. Even with all theses conditions , there are still 20 + year old cars still on the road. My 2006 chevy cobalt is still running great but last month the right a arm broke in half and every year I do some body work. My wifes 2006 civic has aged much better than the cobalt with alot les repairs. I can argue without a doubt that the honda is way more relaible and durable than a gm product.
Loved my 1988 Honda Prelude manual transmission. I had the boxie car with the popup headlights. Best car I ever had
I used to drive a honda prelude back in the day. What a cracking, fast car with rock solid reliability even though I kicked it’s head in most times.
Own a 2004 CR-V with 158K miles - drive it everyday and it is awesome - always starts and gets me to where I want to go - also have a 2012 Accord with 125K miles - also runs great and never any problems
I love my 1st car (which I still own) '98 Acura Integra GS-R.
It has 236,000 KM and runs as good as the day I bought her.
I will never sell it.
I'd rather have a used Internal combustion engine car than a new electric vehicle.
Tell me you’re poor without telling me you’re poor.
@@littledovecitydustI'm not, I could buy a new electric car easily.
True but is everything going reasonably well for you? I know we gotta keep the message going but really it's mostly a long term economic choice. I mean if people wanna throw money away, what can you do?
@@marshmower Yeah, everything's going fine. I'm just tired of all this electric vehicle nonsense.
FACTS!!!!
I bought a 2017 Toyota Camry 2.5l engine, 6 speed automatic transmission 14.000 km from Australia government auction for $19.700 AUD. it’s good car to drive, I am a fan of Toyota like Scotty Kilmer 😊
Mercury Marquis Pontiac Vibe Matrix I have not been to a mechanic in many years driving these cars. THE BEST 3K cars
The guy with the Honda crv should clean the leaves off his windshield wiper area.
My mom has an 03 CRV with 190k had it 8 years now & put 70K miles on it!! Maintenance is gonna take her to 300K! Minimal rust & trans shifts like new!
I bought a 2009 honda civic lx from scottys advice for cheap and it was in great shape with low mileage for the year. I modernized the vehicle with a touchscreen and my car has been amazing. Just needs oil changes here an there and the basic maintenance like fluids and have had no problems 🎉 3 years later the cars paint and mechanical parts are in impeccable shape
Where you get them deals?
I’d like to know what you did with the original stereo head unit in the upper center dashboard to get a touchscreen in the dash.
@@rasheemthebestfirstone3274 nothing i keep it in storage and wanted the ability to use apple carplay/ android auto on a headunit
I recently replaced the alternator on my brother's 2009 cr-v. It isn't easy to get at and removing the belt is challenging. The engine compartment is tight.
The 2010 Honda Element isn't any easier. Serpentine belt tool was facillitated by also using 17mm Ratcheting box end wrench. The tensioner sucks.
@@fromthebackofmymind I have lots of tools but none of them worked including the serpentine belt tool. It took the right two combination wrenches hooked together. Wasted at least an hour trying until I figured that out.
Try changing the back spark plugs on a lumina with big hands
@@NOT_FBNSThats why I prefer new, better Ecotecs. World motor with Opel and Saab engineers. But timing chain hassle that requires pulling motor.
I hate transverse mounted engines.
Designed for factory assembly from underneath.
Should align every car when you replace the tires. Cheap insurance when you pay over $500 for tires.
That 91 prelude is quite something. I remember see them around when I was young but was never impressed by them. I’m super impressed now.
4 cyl engines are the best. My 96 ranger has it's original shocks at 323 000 miles. Braking and rough road surfaces can be interesting
I remember driving my brothers 1992 Prelude 2.0. He had a sports air filter on it. Man, that car sounded like a Ferrari. It was heaven to drive with. I could have bought his car, but said no. Too much rust on the roof and more.
Hey Scotty, I just got my first car, which is a 1999 Chevy s10 Ls standard cab with 107k miles. What a mouthful. Mine has the I4 engine with a 4 speed automatic transmission. I bought it off a family member for 600$. And spent 300$ so far on various repairs. But works fully again.
And I did have a bad vacuum leak the second I got the truck and was driven like that for who knows how long. I did fix that before putting hardly any time in the truck with new vacuum lines.
It seems to be a fairly fun truck and it handles going 75-85 mph on texas highways. But what are your thoughts on it? From what friends and family tell me, they have seen these trucks go into the 400-600k mile range without too many problems.
@200,000 miles pull the head off and pay a machine shop for valve and valve guide job.
Those are solid little truck and can last a very very long time with regular maintenance. The interior will start to fall apart later down the road but the drivetrain is solid as nails!!!!! Manual tranny is king but ur truck is still solid!
They are solid. They can go well over 200k I know from experience. The 93 C1500 6 cyl. Has 360,000 going strong.
What do you think of a 1998Lexus 300ES . My neighbors boy bought one for a desperation transportation. It was dirty but I was impressed with the way it cleaned up. Almost no rust. It has 323,000 miles but starts right up and sounds pretty good. I guess we'll get to see how long it goes.
Awesome cars. 97 and 98 had good transmission. 1mz fe engine can run forever if maintained. Make sure timing belt and water pump is changed on time.
Maintain it well and get another 300k out of it!
I wonder why the manufacturers do not galvanize the frame before installing the engine, transmiision etc. to avoid rust problems!
SCOTTY FINALLY MENTIONS HONDA PRELUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU DO A REVIEW ON THE 5TH GEN!!!
@@harveyhankerson8359I'd have offered $1500. It's 33 years old.
I had a Honda CB 750 K2 (1972) with 4 Keihin carbs. I can assure you, once you adjust and synchronize those carbs, the adjustment will last for at least 40.000 Km !
I love my 2018 CR-V.
Over 100 000 km, and no issues!
I don't drive anymore but I enjoy Your Videos and I don't walk very Good either.
Good bless you, man .
God bless you, fam.
I know a lot of people think this does't matter....and maybe it doesn't for all cars, but most of the cars I have owned run noticeably better on Chevron gas.
Not enough to justify the price difference, but if anyone wants to spend a few extra bucks some time when they fill up, it might be worth an experiment or two.
Houston Scotty returns.
Scotty what do you really think about Hondas don.t hold back. keep up the good videos.
Have a 2005 CR-V(approaching 134k). Needs some shocks but nothing much other than normal maintenance required. A few cosmetic issues but not worth trading for a $500, 600,700 car payment. Still rolling my "Bluebell"😊
My friend purchased a 2021 CRV in 2021 and it has literally been in the Honda dealership's shop for a good 6 months
1-honda CR-V
2-Honda Civic
3-Honda Prelude(1978-2001) only 5 generations
So cool watching him enjoy a manual transmission, you can tell he knows exactly what he's doing, even after all this time still just as sharp as ever.
I hope when I am older I have the same cognitive functioning skills. Although I don't know if I'll ever take the time to learn how to drive a stick the last time I drove one was a 2005 mustang and I blew the bell housing because I kept riding the transmission.
My friend has a 1999 Honda CRV with 412,000 miles!
my dad has had his 02 silverado with a floor fwd shifter from the dealer brand new, it has 250k miles on it and still runs smooth. just keeps up with maintnence and has a notebook with dates of what he does to it. only downside is that it doesn't push the same amount of power because its still the stock 4.8l v8 engine
By looking at the cover on the engine. It's a salvage engine. Scotty.
@ 3:10 index, the CRV's muffler is in great condition, i can't say that for the 2022 Nissan Frontier i looked at the other day at a Nissan Dealership.
The muffler and exhaust pipe were already rusted, the Nissan only had ~12K miles on it.
The salesman was shocked when I pointed it out to him. 🙈🙊🙉
Here is another reason, to go with a manual transmission and forget the EVs. Even the AC and heater will make the EV range shorter. While the manual transmission can save on gas. And you can enjoy the AC.
For me, a manual trans is the only way to go with a four cylinder.
@@louishumphreys5451this mountain driver agrees. Better yet, manual 4 cylinder Diesel engine. Power down low + manual transmission = 47 mpg while passing on twisty mountain roads
@@AmeriMutt76 For sure...diesel engines have come a long way. I had a friend, he had a 1978 140D Mercedes. That car, truly couldn't get out of it's own way. Whole different ballgame now. My brother has a diesel truck. it's quick to accelerate, quiet, you don't know but you are riding in a gas truck. Best kind.
Got a 2007 CRV, 200k kms, does the job, runs like a baby.
Had to replace the AC compressor and that was the only expensive issue I had.
I've been questioning an older crv. Now, Im sold.
I Love my 04 CR-V manual transmission 🤗
This is the original place scotty did all of his first videos at. Sweet.
They need to chane the transmission fluid every 15,000 miles the V6 have a high resolution transmission. Read 📚 the owner manual. Scott.
Man I love your channel I get so much from your info 🙌
Dude you're a great sales man. I wanna go get a Civic SI now
I wish you were in Ontario
Don't know about Honda. I have my fourth Camry. Love it .A great car. 2015 SXE. 51,000 miles. Wouldn't buy anything else.
Its still fascinating that scotty has haters, and extremely toxic people up in the comments.
I really don't know why people bother to watch if they are going to be nasty. Guess nothing better to do but be di#$s
Had a 1982 prelude. It was sporty in 1982!
Toyota 4runner 4th gen best choice.
Preludes and Accords of that era….. and some Civics, and some lesser known Hondas also, tended to rust behind the rear wheels. If a “butcher” repairman would simply grind out the worst of the rust and fill it with filler, yes….the repair won’t last long…… not a fault of “Bondo”…. but a poorly executed repair. Used correctly, “bondo” can last the life of the car…..👍
Mazda, lot can go over 200k IF you change the oil.
Had a 1985 B2000 went 300,000 +. Nice little 4 cyl engine, easy to work on.
That’s for any car 🤣
I have an 06 MX-5 with 248,000
The editing is fascinating. It moves a long video along
Honda for life
sold my 2000 crv with 480K miles for $3,100 lol
damn scotty was having some FUN with that prelude pull 😂
Hey Scotty! I'd love you to do something on the Honda FRV. Three seats at the front!
I had a prelude that had nothing but electrical problems. It cost so much money. No one can figure it out terrible and snow in New England.
Kilmer could do a Walken impersonation if He wanted too.😊
I'd pay to see him do a "Weapon of Choice" dance!
I road for years with a nissan titan with 500k miles ans cat light on. Had to drive 60 miles to drop light.
I love Honda my RL is bulletproof except for the AC compressor
Hey Scotty
The prelude is a 92 not 91
4th generation Preludes are from 91 to 96
I say Crown Victoria and old Toyota Corolla for cheap n reliable
how to submit questions to Scotty?
I've been struggling with sticky brake pads on 2nd gen Prius for years. I've never spent on brakes so much on any cars that I had before. And Prius is supposed to never wear brakes. And I replaced 3 calipers too
I would like to know the answer
We have a 2006 Aust spec Odyssey with 228k miles, uses the same K24 engine as this CR/V with 5 speed auto. All I've done in the past 18 months is a new serpentine belt and tensioner, and A/C blower resistor. Back when Honda made great cars. Everything else works perfectly as new, all windows, sunroof, electric third row folding seats. Gets about 24MPG US, or 29MPG Imperial.
I had to replace 2 alternators because the PS leaked on it. 2nd one was 4 months old
At 45 seconds into the video I see writing on top of the engine shroud for the engine which suggests that maybe this is a used engine that was installed from a junkyard😮
Hey Scotty 👋 Would you feature my 2002 Toyota Prius when it reaches 999,999? It’s outlived all my other cars and still keeps on going. In 10 years I’ll give you a call 📞 😊
I recently switched from E10 gas over to Clear gas. I'm went from getting 43mpg to 55mpg. It's well worth the price difference and my vehicle seems to start faster and overall run better. ☺️👍
Is that British
Glad to hear 🙏
Since I swapped years ago, outboard engine. 5k generator(only fired up twice a year), lawn tractor no more problems. Both start right up, no more carb rebuilds

This vid says it all why old toyota's are rare. Yes toyota's are very reliable the first 8 years. But i am very much noticing 10+ year old models sold by the millions disappear really quickly to being rare.
Saw a 95 black one here in CT with sunroof 5spd manual VTec tan leather interior

I guess the Accord will be fine.(I live in Hamburg Germany)
Which production years do you prefer after 2015?

I have 63,000 Miles on my 2017 Subaru forester.

My question is, do you need to replace rotors every time you need new brake pads?
I was told I'll need new front brakes soon.

Bad 02 sensors will cause that 420 code. Check those
Hondas run great and forever. I would never buy one again because of the road noise. Sold my Pilot because of road noise. Recently drove my mother to Florida in her ‘19 CRV. Road noise wore us out after a few hours. Why can’t Honda do something about that? Is it that difficult or expensive to insulate out all that road noise?
You're joking, right? Lol
I heard the 2023 accord touring is well insulated. I don’t know about the other trims though.
Dude you’re in a freaking Honda lol. Now sure you tires could have been the problem too but generally speaking unless you’re in a high end luxury car like a Mercedes s class, rolls Royce or Bentley that have lots and lots of sound deadening and air ride suspension you will hear road and wind noise. Hondas aren’t luxury cars
Good video alright!
The laughing frog is so funny 😅

Nice prelude
simple question, used Toyota vs used Honda, generally speaking?
Hi Scotty l have a Kia Sorento 2010with120000 klm on the clock I started to make a noise the mechanic found the harmonic balancer is broke

What do you think about new BMW's?
I have an eye on a brand new 218 Series (2022) for 38k, i don't make more than 6k miles per year,

Hey Scotty! For the worn out ticking.lifter 1991 Prelude, did you ever try 20W50 oil ? This solution solved my ticking lifter issues… dunno why. Perhaps you can provide some insight to answer that….ticking returned when I went back to 10W40….so it was 20W50 for the final 150k!…. No ticks.
Hey Scotty I just bought a 2023 ram 1500 big horn v6 . As a brand new truck should I change the oil earlier than recommended for the first time
My spouse has a '14 Honda CR-V with the VTC Actuator noise, even though it's been to the dealer and had the actuator replaced a few times. It still has the problem especially on cold mornings. And I wonder if they fixed the excessive oil usage with the Honda EarthDreams Engines... I've sadly soured on Honda in the past few years. I'm sticking with my reliable Camry XLE's silky, powerful, but thirsty V6 engine, D4-S hybrid injection system, and dependable Aisin Transmission. I maintain it - oil change and tire rotation every 5K mile - and spend too much time keeping it clean and shiny and being obsessive over tiny scratches, and it's always ready to take me places. It's one of the 'smartest,' smoothest, and most dependable cars I've owned.
I noticed the "Check Engine light was on" Other than that a great car and reliable for the miles it has done.
He sounds like Actor Joe Pesci, he could be a good impersonator, lol
