I was there years ago on business. I left the Hotel and drove around. Stopped at a convenience store. A gentleman came over to me and seeing me, probably looking like a tourist. Told me that it was not safe and to leave. I told him the area I was staying and he said that was ok but do not come out after dark. He was honestly worried about me. I followed his advice.
I know someone who is a Federal Agent. A group of himself and fellow Agents stopped in San Berdoo in a business parking lot, circled their cars and began having a briefing of their days activities. They were armed and in their tactical gear. The San Bernardino Police drove up to them and told them, in no uncertain terms, to get OUT of their City and LEAVE the area! The said it wasn't safe at all, the sun was going down, and they (the Federal Agents) were prime targets for being robbed, shot and killed. True story.
Resident here at SGV area and good advice. Even in the valley in Asian communities it's not as safe as it used to be thanks to the other kind that moved in now.
That was the fire dept, more than likely a paramedic that told him to stop videoing. It was not EMS. Newsome needs to go! Disgusting no police station open when SB has so much crime. I dont see prostitutes everywhere like in Oakland. Totally gross in Oakland!
Could get shot?? Wait a minute Nick, you're in CA where they have strict gun laws. There's no way people can shoot you there, it's illegal! Isn't that what those laws were supposed to stop?
Contrast. Come to Muskogee, Oklahoma. The citizens, the cops, etc do not any of this crazy stuff. I was " sucker punched" by a homeless man and cops were instantly there and arrested him. People in Oklahoma just don't put up with it.
The bad part is you have to live in Oklahoma unfortunately. Not exactly the same as SoCal. Where I can be at the beach, in the mountains snow skiing, the desert with my dune buggy or Vegas. All with hours or less.
I live in Redlands, a few miles away from San Berndardino, yet a million miles away in real life. How can that be such an incredible cultural difference in such a short physical distance?
In 2002, we were returning a U-Haul in San Bernardino. We pulled into a parking lot trying to figure out where exactly it was (this was before smart phones and navigation was as common place) and everything looked sketchy. We were on Baseline and Waterman. A police car happened to pull up nearby and ask the cop if he knew were it was and he said it was another couple of blocks down the road. I said thanks, and he said "BE CAREFUL"!!! This was in broad daylight in the early afternoon!!

It’s always been a dump but in the 60s-80s it was a somewhat decent place to live save. The problems that really come to mind were when Norton AFB closed in 1994. A lot of people were job less. Also LA had a bad habit of sending lots of parolees and ex convicts out to SB due to the cheaper housing

I agree- this is what happens when people turn their backs on what they know is right. They ignore God and morality because they think they can self regulate and think they always know what’s good for them. They raise the next generation to be just like them and before you know it nobody knows what the words humility, decorum, or selflessness even mean.

There were known gang members in my neighborhood, but they never bothered us. Two of my bikes got stolen right outside our front door. If you don't nail everything down, it's gone the next morning. Almost got stabbed by a girl in Jr. High, and my friends sister threatened me with a steak knife. One of my uncles was homeless out there for decades. He had a run in with the cops at a gas station in Modesto and stabbed a Sheriff K9(the dog lived), thank God. California is a rough, violent place.

My brother in law came from Colombia to work the oil fields around Bakersfield and Fresno. He entered the USA a refugee from Colombia, during the guerilla war when a man a day working the oil fields was killed in shootouts with the guerillas. After multiple encounter with bandits who tried ot hijack his truck, and followed him for miles on a lonely highway, he return to Colombia because he said it was safer than California.

I'll tell you what the problem is. There's this kind of dumb pride that alot of people take in living in a place that's classified as dangerous or "hood" by normal people. The people that somehow figure out a way to live there, or the one's who grew up there, see it as a bragging point. "See I'm a tough, streetsmart lowlife who can survive in this f'ed up environment. That makes me a somebody!" That's the mentality that the residents of these blown out urban wastelands have. That's why it will never get better. They don't want it to. This is all they have. Told me that it was not safe and to leave. I told him the area I was staying and he said that was ok but do not come out after dark. He was honestly worried about me. I followed his advice.
Not true
Indeed😅😅😅😅
I know someone who is a Federal Agent. A group of himself and fellow Agents stopped in San Berdoo in a business parking lot, circled their cars and began having a briefing of their days activities. They were armed and in their tactical gear. The San Bernardino Police drove up to them and told them, in no uncertain terms, to get OUT of their City and LEAVE the area! The said it wasn't safe at all, the sun was going down, and they (the Federal Agents) were prime targets for being robbed, shot and killed. True story.

I find that very odd because everybody saying that people don't know the rights of somebody filming, when it's obvious that they do, or at least the EMS knew.
He was too scared to ask the others people if he could film them?!
Yet there he was, half the time filming the ground as he's talking to people, seemingly happy to talk to him, so why not video them? So why wasn't he filming these people who were obviously willing to talk to him? Too scared to even ask? He's filming the ground and he was sneakily recording them YET he's willing to stand there and tape such a vulnerable situation? Where they clearly can't get up and fight him, about it lol. He knew that filming _that_ situation was safe (of course!) The EMS _are WELL aware_ of his right to film but felt it was a skeeze thing to do, imo.
Yet, he's too afraid to tape the people that he's talking to?
