  • Welcome to our in-depth review of the 2024 BMW i5 eDrive40! In this video, we'll take you on a journey as we explore every aspect of the new BMW i5.
    We will perform our first 0-60 drag race with the BMW i5 eDrive40, then we will go for some POV driving on backroads. We will also experience the Highway Assistant with the Automatic Lane Change feature and explain how it works.
    Lastly, we will review the BMW i5's design, exterior and interior, along with the new BMW iDrive 8.5.
    This is one of the most comprehensive reviews we could put together so hopefully it is useful in case you're buying a BMW i5 eDrive40!
    Note: The rear axle air suspension is standard on all electric and plug-in hybrid BMW 5 Series and i5.
    The battery capacity is 81.2 kWh and 10 to 80% fast charging in 30 minutes.

    Here it is: It's finally here, the review of the BMW i5. It's also one of the longest I've ever done. If there are still details I have yet to cover, please let me know and I can try to answer them!

    Seeing some of the initial general reviews on my feed, but had to come back and catch up with your in-depth reviews first before watching those. THough I would take the outgoing model over this - before I got my i4, i was thinking about the M550. The outgoing model may have looked plain, but I loved the face-lifted rear taillights with that 3D look and just looked so sleek I think.

      Glad to see my reviews are useful. I always wonder if these long format ones are actually good for future buyers. I always try to touch on all things that I would wanna know if I were to buy the car myself.

      Not anytime soon. I expect them after November. Cars are not built yet.

    Looks really nice. If this car came with the same physical buttons as my current G30 it would be a very tempting option for me. However, I will never use a touch-screen while driving, so I simply wouldn't have any meaningful way to operate this car.

    As BMW man and had 12 BMW I’ve driven the M60 and the 15E40 the m60 felt way to heavy for me also the 40 gives a feeling of being nimble enough for me and my last car 57:07 was a 840 2023 and that power was good enough for me my car has been order and it the E 40 and it’s has the option for the sunroof ordered Enjoy BMW FOREVER.

    Still not quite sure for e40 which package gives you the air suspension? I am looking at the US configurator and not seeing it. Also did you try the Bowers and Wilkins sound? Many of us are curious about this option compared with the base Harman Kardon.

    • @bmwblog
      @bmwblog  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Each market has different packages. So not sure to be honest. I tried the B&W, but only in the context of listening to some music. I can't really compare it to the base one since I didn't have one.

      @@bmwblog thanks! so far I see the following questions on the specs from various people, mainly due to the EU-US packaging difference: 1) the US spec adaptive suspension; 2) seating function; 3) digital rear climate control; 4) parking function; 5) sounding system (HK vs BW); 6) small wheels 19", 20"; 7) any add-on services in the connected drive store. I am also interested in 1) the real life range in the US highway and city; 2) some interior trim such as "Fine Wood Grey Blue Open Pore Ash " is brand new and I'd like to see how it feels.

      Production just started so first units will arrive soon. BMW doesn't usually bring black cars to a press event, unless it's a special frozen or something

    Do you have any opinion or facts on:
    1) Is the B&W speaker system worth the higher price compared to the HK?
    2) By how much does the glass roof lower the available head room for tall people?
    3) What is the difference between the sport seat and the comfort seat? Is it worth the extra?
    Thanks in advance

    • @bmwblog
      @bmwblog  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. Did not test it. It was impossible anyway since all press cars are top spec
      2. Don't know the exact figure, but you can see that we tested the head room there with tall people
      3. All these cars had the sport seat. So can't tell

    The design aside (as liking it or not is a matter of personal taste), it feels like BMW tried cost savings in areas that present a serious step back for the 5 that had always been a premium model. A few illustrative examples are lack of covers on cup holders both in the front middle console and the rear arm rest, lack of storage nets/airplane style covers behind front seats for rear passengers, and lack of cream colored roof lining (which used to be offered for all non-M trims like basic/luxury/x-line/etc.)

    They really need to place the physical buttons and gear selector back into the 5 series, it's a car made for driving enthusiasts, screens don't work for this brand

      It's the feel of the shifter, using your hand to push and pull, feels more natural than using your finger and it's also quicker. BMW and other legacy car makers are throwing out tried and true methods for novelties that newer car makers are using. This is not innovation, it's following behind newer car automakers in a knee jerk reaction to try and not lose market share. BMW is quickly diluting its brand that it has spent decades perfecting. They removed the physical shifter in the seven series years ago and had a stalk such as that in the S Class they put the physical shifter back in the seven series, because they listened to the customer base that they have spent years cultivating. They have also started only now fix the mistake of slapping iPad styled displays into their vehicles and started to slowly walk back the decision for subscription heated seats. The company is going to lose its reasonable customer base in its pursuit of ppl who purchase lower quality, vehicles that feel like trendy appliances. No one asked BMW to build a better Tesla that cosplays as a BMW, we ask that BMW build EVs that are BMWs

    • @punjabhero9706
      @punjabhero9706 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jerrywilliams1602 but the point of an EVs drive train is exactly that. You don't have/need gears. Why make a car artificially worse than it has to be? I grew up in Europe so I learned to drive with a manual gearbox and I also appreciate it. But only for when you want to take a spirited drive or have some extra fun. My first vehicle with an automatic gearbox was a 4 series BMW, I'm never going to buy a daily driven vehicle with a manual again. Its just that much better and more comforting in day to day use.

    Why do you pretend to like the bs BMW is making now. These are not interesting. They're not engaging. They're not fun to drive. There's nothing appealing about these 4 wheel appliances that all manufacturers are obsessed with crapping out of their factories.
