Hans is such a great character! Free at heart. But it’s obvious he’s talented in construction and repair. I love his personality! Just goes with the flow! So great you use what we call in Texas... good ole boys to do your work.

Alex, I have been where you are right now. You are embarking on a new adventure. You will do fine in the new location! You and your family have touched all of our hearts. I echo many more when I say, you are a very decent person, as is Melissa and the kids. Life is made up of a series of adventures. Some great, some, not so, but this is how we learn and then move on to the next one. I'll be watching, but I want to say now: Good Luck! Really great to see that the move is underway for you! I have a shirt box that contains soldiers and other old metal toys that my dad played with & saved these in his mom's attic. If he was still with us he'd be 102yrs old! I hope to find them (hid them in the house but after suffering a severe concussion I have gotten my memory back to par) so I can email pictures of them to you to see what you think about them! Your birthday is the same as his. I am pushing 70 & would like to see a good home! Great video!

As someone who loves and collects antiques, I am wishing you all the best with the new store. Have enjoyed all your videos! My dad left me all the Red Wing crocks he collected, but my favorite thing right now is an Orphan Annie electric stove that has seen a lot of love!

In this series, it was nice seeing Josh, Jakota and Hans working on the new store. It was fun seeing you use the big boat Caddy today! The oars going from the Caddy to Kastner Auctions was a nice touch!
My Dad came home with a actual Volkswagen Karmann Ghia from Europe when he was posted back to Canada in 1967. It was pale yellow with a black roof. He also came back with two kids that he and my Mom didn't have when he was posted there. ;)
I am sure the zoning will go through for you. You bring a delightful store and product to the neighborhood. Your intentions of becoming involved with the neighborhood are all outstanding. I can't think of a reason you would be denied. Very interesting and educational videos as well. Thank you for taking the time to share this history with us.

You can see the stress on your face. And I don’t blame you. You are really going out in a limb with everything you’ve done as far as the store goes and hopefully the zoning will be approved. I hope people from the zoning board have come out to see what you have done to improve the area and see that the building fits in with the neighborhood. Thanks for sharing.

The expo, although it's mainly business, would be fun and exciting, seeing what they carry to put in your new store, the downside is spending money, but nothing is free, however it all works out in the end. If I was to wander through your store, I would gravitate to antique furniture, an array of books, toys I played with, old mags( sat. evening post, old store catalogues, fashion mags, etc,) and store candy amongst other store treasures, yeah, so would ❤ it in your store. ❤ the cowboy boot birdhouse, so cute and love the idea of a woodstove, like the one you chose, but costly. Whatever one you get, will look good.
New shop starting to get that Victorian Cabinet of Curiosities look. A couple of mummified two-headed piglets, some giant shark teeth, a few leopard skins, a fez and a pygmy blow-dark tube should add the final æsthetic patina to your accumulation of antiques and oddities.🕯🎩🕯

The Old Fashioned Candy brings to mind an old store my father frequently visited back in the late 50's/early 60's. They sold quite an assortment of merchandise and there was an enclosed glass candy counter full of individually wrapped "penny" candy. So with a dime to spend I usually left with 10 different pieces of candy and it was as much a treat to pick it out as it was to eat it. Looking back I'm sure ol' Fred hated to see me come in the door because I took forever to decide and often changed my mind about a piece or two.
Sounds just like my childhood candy shop, "Curley's". Four or five of us kids, each clutching their dime, took turns selecting their goodies. The very patient lady would drop the treats into a little brown paper bag. Sometimes we'd find a discarded soda bottle as we walked to the shop. What a prize! All soda bottles were made of glass and recycled in those days. Redeeming one meant you got 2 more cents to spend on candy!
Lots of prayers being said here. I have faith it’ll all work out. No matter what the outcome you still have each other and that’s more precious than any antiques.
Alex you have made the store look awesome ...The city and the ppl around their should be proud for what you have done ... a fresh new look for the city..a new / old /antiques place to shop and bring lots of new customers in town..if they only new about your TH-cam channel , how many ppl all over the world could visit your city.. soo good luck 🍀 on the zoning!!! As a former child of an Entrepreneur, you are doing fine!! I bet you don't let it show as much as you think you do. In life stress happens, more so when you take the big risks like you have! but the rewards and the special time you get to spend with your family building your business and your life can truly compensate :D Just remember to breath and have fun in your downtime what little there is!! From what I have seen in your videos you are doing everything right, so keep it up :D
All these nice people coming to see you and helping as you unload its so cool. I really think in the next few years I need to plan a trip up to Canada.
You don’t know what’s going to happen no matter where you are. It will all be just fine! You’re doing something new and saying good-bye to the old. Of course it’s stressful! But you aren’t doing anything that you didn’t want to do. You’ve had a dream, and you’re making it happen!

Alex, I know that all I can offer are words of encouragement. And I know that telling someone not to be stressed does no good. But reading these comments, I can see that there are tons of people pulling for you. Please don't lose faith that it will all work out in the end. You and Melissa have taken chances before and look where you are now. All my best, yet another fan from Lynnwood, WA.
That olde worlde stove and fridge is exactly what I want in my dream home, so it's nice to know they're out there when and if I get that opportunity.
All you do now is thank the Lord for your blessings and keep doing what you do. All the stress and anxiety is something that'll be part of a story down the line and you'll be laughing as you reminisce about these times in the future. You're doing great!

I just noticed that your garage at the new store is very close to the Gulf Oil colours (blue and orange), a Gulf oil sign would look really good on it. Thanks for the video, have a great week!

Our first home came with a wood stove installed into the fireplace that we didn’t want. We pulled it out and sold it for 75 dollars to a couple that cried and thanked us. We had no idea what stoves sold for but were happy that the couple that bought it really needed a stove for heating and so thankful to receive it.

Are you putting in some kind of a seating area for people? It would keep them in the store looking around, maybe a sandwich and coffee bar with stools. Store is looking good. People are attracted to quaint, cozy and homey. Maybe some awnings and outside seating too.

While the store is closed for the bureaucratic tape to be dealt with, you should do a bunch of auctions to keep an income coming in. Also do videos featuring items you'd ship out or meet locally to sell. Good luck, and don't worry too much. They have no reason to deny your rezoning.

I thought about my brother when you showed the old car toys. When he was 6 or 7 he took apart a metal toy car (made in China or Japan) and the underside was an old Folger's coffee tin. This would have been just after WW11. I'll never forget my Mom telling this story!

If worse comes to worse there are always ways to get by. You could have yoga classes at night in the annex building or teach antiquing classes in there or throughout the main store. You could have some auctions. Any number of things those buildings could be used for in addition to the curiosity shop. It will work out. Stop fretting. It’s going to be okay. I have no doubt that all the hard work and choices you're making into this new store, while of course it's very stressful, will lead to the best outcome for the future of your company!
