Watched this episode and got a subscription to precision cut archery. I’m made two sight tapes for two arrows set ups I’m playing with. Love what you do. Love that you’re repping the short draw guys, I’m one of them.
Dan, you should get the draw board clamp for the LCA from baker archery products, it’s a game changer and no more holding on to the bow in the draw board.
Pumped to see how this goes. What a great Plan B arrow too by the way but still have the trajectory you are comfortable with. The broadhead is the part that does the cutting and killing. So nothing wrong with going heavier than usual with a solid head that is razor sharp. You could definitely use that setup for elk no problem. 🏹🦌
I have the Garmin xero c1 and it’s pretty solid. Reads very consistent indoor. Shot it at my shops indoor range and no problem reading it. At home inside a bit hard but I am only shooting 3 yards so if you can get say closer to 10 yards I think you’d be alright. But I am definitely happy with what I’m seeing with it and the versatility with shooting rifle pistol bows and others especially if you reload is great. Small package and lightweight is super easy to bring and set up with you where ever you go!
Wow🎉 this is a super great video! I really appreciate you spending the time making it, this will help so many people like myself who want to create an amazing set up
Excited to see how this works for you. I shot the iron will 125’s this year and have been thinking I want to switch to those wide 150 single bevels. Keep up the great work!
Wow I hate to hear that.. I shot the 150gr regular single bevel, and the ethics archery 85gr outsert/collar system. I had the RIP TKO gamer shaft with tac driver 3 fletch out to 70 yards with really good flight.
Great episode. I've always used Archers Advantage but Precision Cut Archery Sight Tapes looks very cool. Everyone has experienced tapes that seem off when you go to TAC in the higher elevations and it sounds like these would solve that problem.
Hey Dan. Just a heads up: After using the torch and removing the inserts, I've learnt to dunk the carbon shaft first, right away.. To avoid any excess heat causing warping of the shaft. The inserts can cool down in their own glass of water.
But if you use a heat gun and set it to just hot enough to melt the fletch-tite, you don’t risk the damage to the shaft at all. The propane torch and carbon just seems too likely to cause a crispy carbon shaft. Not a combination I’m personally comfortable using, but I love my heat gun from Harbor freight, stands up on its own. Just my approach.
The topo wraps and a topo sight housing is definitely is the coolest custom set up I’ve seen. Just got a spot Hogg fast Eddie triple stack in today. Hopefully I’ve payed enough attention to all the great information you’ve put out about sight tapes and longer range shooting

I Chrono'd at 260fps. Faster than my old arrow, but I'm glad to see I'm not to far off with 5# less draw weight. I'm looking into the Precision Cut Archery Software. Dark Owl and your videos just about have me sold.
First, is there a “twang” from the loft or is that just the camera picking the shot up weird? Also, making sight tapes, how do you get them to stick and why not use the tapes that came with the ultraview?
Love the iron will set up, 275 fps 504 g 70 lb 31 inch draw hoyt ventum. That speed with a fixed blade is perfect and extremely accurate. Your smoking at 75lb 27 inch draw

Really informative Video Dan. Appreciate all the hard work you are putting into your testing/tinkering and videos. Which Black Ovis Pants are you wearing there at the end of the video.
Hey man. I shoot the same arrows. I hunt whitetail in GA where I live. I have maybe 1” on your draw length. Going on an elk hunt in WY this SEP. would you use the 4mm on elk? I am right at 400 grains total with perfect FOC. maybe change the broadhead and give em a try you think?
Hey Brother. I've never done wraps or shot arrows with wraps. But, I'm down to check them out though. I will be getting some new vanes here soon. And I'm getting some with the Elk Shape logo from your site. Which ones would you recommend for a midwest whitetail hunter sitting in a treestand. Only short 35yd max shot distance. I also want to switch to a .204 diameter arrow (either Victory RIP TKO's or Easton Axis 5mm Pros) from a GT Hunter XT. So that would factor in. I want the best chance of having the arrow zip right through the deer. Those 150 Iron Will wides look sick. I might even run those next year with the arrow change. I'll see the results of your little testing.
I shoot a 2315 Easton aluminum at 28 inches with a 125 broad head it’s pushing 455 grains and a browning timber wolf bow I can split my arrows 0:21 tried to switch to fiberglass arrow because someone told me they were faster they were a epic fail in my book
I’m just wondering do you prefer iron will or the grim reaper micro 3 blade I here their isn’t much blood from iron will but they have great penetration
Have you used that hot melt mostly now the past season and used it to shoot elk even with a hard left helical, and still no issues with anything pulling out or unscrewing (which i know isnt anything to do with adhesive choice) i use the same hot melt exclusively for 2.5 seasons now. Starts in september here, very hot, goes til January 31st whitetails. So was jus curious. Thought about switching to Victory black fusion for better piece of mind but dont wanna damage arrows trying to remove inserts
Have the cool pattern closer to the top of the wrap... I always cut my wraps down as close to the front of my vane as possible to reduce weight... some of the wraps the elkshape part would be cut off.
Aloha Dan. Do you print those tapes on regular paper? Then glue them? Are they water proof? Sooo appreciative for all the info you and MFJJ put out as there are not many resources out here. Mahalo!
We have two seasons out here too. So this is late season that varies depending part of the state. Western for black tail we open up this week and run through end of the year.
