    Ben seems to be a good ol’ boy who was nervous in a room of pros. I think you guys set him up for success, but also keep in mind not everyone is on your level. Picking apart his gear or his technique can really impact a guy’s confidence. We all know how important confidence is in archery. Feeling good equals shooting good. Great video guys keep up the great work!

      good point. Also seemed a bit too fast paced for a beginner. They are still getting the basics nailed down and hearing people go off on tangents about this and that doesn't help any... it just becomes overwhelming to them... I know because I was in that position years ago. Tuning talk had me tearing my hair out. Bows are very dynamic and so are our bodies... I have learned that what works for some doesnt always work for everyone... there are general guidelines that you should always start with... but I've gone in circles before trying to force the bow to do something it did not want to do, just because the standard tuning guides said so.... let the bow tell you what it likes. Limb sequencing and form can do strange things sometimes.

    HAh!! I have been through almost this EXACT same process (minus the cameras and agitator Dan) with a couple-few archers in the past three or 4 weeks... I run a pre-change test using a home-made shooting machine first to check timing, lean and aimpoint without human interference, then I finish shooting it by hand. Guys are amazed when I show them phone video of their bow breaking nocks after basic tuning of the bow shooting them through the machine, and then replicating by hand. HAND POSITION on the bow is the single most common reason broadheads don't hit with field points. Prove me wrong.

    • @Whitetailwacker37
      @Whitetailwacker37 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Left impacting broadhead, when your arrow leaves the bow it starts to the right & as it flexes and the vanes stear your arrow back straight they will typically over correct to the left. So moving your test to the left in this instance would would help stop the amount of your arrow correcting to the left.

      Same question here. I’ve had the factory fletched VAP TKOs, and the spine aligned mark is directly opposite the cock vane (in between the hen vanes). So, I’ve fletched my arrows exactly the same with the Arizona Easy Jig. I think due to the strong helical, it looks like the center point of the cock vane is directly opposite from the spine aligned marking.

    Spine has so much smaller of an effect now days with the tuning abilities we have with the bow. I can tune and ultra stiff and an ultra weak arrow perfectly fine with any and every broadhead out there assuming everything is built well from the head to the arrow.
    The tune settings will be different for each likely but weak or stiff will tune just fine.

He's young enough to get some instruction from a real good teacher like a Wunderle or Joel Turner.
    Big as he is, he should be using 90 fucking pounds too,,,,lol 32 inch fucking draw ???? Danny you and me can only DREAM of that. I'd had him on 200 spine and some weight upfront 50 grains or so . But that's me. Not sure i've seen a 32 draw before. Just imagining the damage 32 inch draw can do to a oversized boar hog. Damn I hate being a midget.

      I think it depends on the initial setup. I'm assuming that the bow is in spec and has been tuned. I personally set my bows up in the following sequence. Eyeball center shot, arrow thru CL of berger hole, paper tune from 3' & 6', modified french tune, then walk back tune once my pins are set.
      FTR: I've always moved my BH towards my FP.....been woking fine for the last 25 years
      That said, make micro adjustments, if the gap is widening between the BH & PF, move the other direction. I can see moving the rest towards the arrow poi if it hasn't been set up correctly. I'm just a hunter, not a tuner.....but it's been working fine for me for the past 25 years. Also, some BH fly like dog crap as well, I had some slick tricks the absolutely would not group past 30 yards. I know my Exodus fly with my PF out to 80yrds

    Pro tip: pull your broadhead and mark where it hit before you shoot the field point.

    Why does Dudley say the exact opposite on rest movement. He says broadhead hits left of felid point, move it right. Move opposite of where it’s hitting. How is it possible he is wrong

    I’m new to a compound. Been shooting a week. When sighting in my scope I couldn’t tell if my grip kept effecting my left or right. Sometimes I would hit what I’m aiming at then it would be off even if I really focused on my grip. I tested my micro hades and those things are loud

    • @jackbuendgen389
      @jackbuendgen389 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many many factors that affect left and right impacts. Face pressure, grip torque, nock tuning, timing, nock fit, and probably more than that

    I don't get this left to right thing. I just moved the rest on my bow to the left about 1\32 inch and both my field points and broadheads started to hit left about 2.5 inches at 15 yards. Something doesn't add up.

    • @samdingo1956
      @samdingo1956 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are the BH and FP hitting the same poi? If so, then adjust your sight. If the BH & PF have a gap, keep adjusting until they are hitting the same spot, then adjust your sight

    • @shanerRC
      @shanerRC ปีที่แล้ว

      @samdingo1956 I get that concept but Dudley did a video years ago where he said if your broadhead hits right of the feild point, move the rest to the left until they hit the same spot. Then you just re-zero the sight. Now everyone says if the broadhead hits right, you move the rest to the right until they hit at the same spot. When i move my rest right, both arrows move right. Does a field point move faster than a broadhead with each rest movement? I always figured the broadhead would move the most. If so, then this makes sense. I always spend a ton of time getting perfect aroow flight, and they just hit the same.

    Hi, I have a question how do we shoot bullet holes when the arrow is flexing most of the flight. I never could understand this. And of you tune for broadheads and you move the rest to get them to fly close to the same wouldn't you thru out the bullet hole you originally made. I'm 62 years old and been shooting for 45 years and never could figure these things out. Thanks for the video and your knowledge. Happy and safe hunting. Ralph D.

      I'm no pro but I found there is some wiggle room with your bullet hole when making these micro adjustments. After I micro adjusted my rest for broadheads I went back to a bareshaft thru paper and still got my bullet hole. If getting a bullet hole at 3 yards meant a perfect tune none of this would be needed. It's the "wiggle room" where the broadhead magnifies anything other than the arrow coming dead straight out of your bow. Assuming your spine is correct and the rest of your bow is good to go. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

    On a Hoyt vtm31 my sight picture on bow sight is in the riser should I shim cams to the left ? Also arrow rest is around 1/2 inch from riser instead of the 13/16 will this hurt anything if it’s paper tune good.

    • @JamesVanGriff
      @JamesVanGriff 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Set at 13/16" then shim cams first to fix tears, fine tune with rest but 1/2" from riser you maybe hitting cables with your fetchings... i had my cams on my hoyt rx5 ultra shimmed all the way left and still had a partly obstructed sight ring from the riser on it...

      It's because my bow was out of spec. I wanted to have 70lb draw weight. My mods were 70lbs but it was only drawing like 65ish. He fixed the bow so it was drawing 70lbs which most certainly made it so my 300 spine arrows were too weak. So i got the new 250 spine arrows to work with my long draw length and 70lbs. I then knew I'd need to retune my broadheads so I just got the micro adjust rest to make tuning it myself easier.
