Great video EZGZ! Whenever I setup my idf's i always adjust the air bypass screws after they ar synced to allow even flow thru all the barrels for a super smooth runner:)
thanks great video 🤔 i got my idfs on off a guy on ebay in maybe 2002 but they are from spain and my idle jets are NOT thru the side but down thru the top and ive only got the 2 idle adjustment screws by the base
My VW came with a single EMPI HPMX equipped with a 009 distributor. Always wondered why the vacuum ports on these things are never used. Guess I have a carb for sale then.
Just did my adjustments last weekend on my duals. #4 had a progression port clogged. Had to take the carb off and spray it out. Wish these plugs were tapped for cleaning them. Is there an easier way to clean the progression ports? As always, good video! Hope to see you at the Bug In next weekend!
Can you swap the older air/fuel screws for the newer style or does the old seat need the older screws? I'm rebuilding a set of 44 IDF Italian and was curious if the newer style screws would be better for adjusting? Thanks
If the seats are good the screws are interchangeable. For easier fine tuning use the longer screw but you may be more than 1 1/4 turns out on the idle.
Hey EZGZ thanks for the great video. I’m trying to get my bug to pass emissions, and my results say I’m idling rich. Do I turn that hex screw at the bottom in or out ? Thanks again
Idle fuel needle in very slowly and listen for idle ruff idle or popping noise then back out until it smoothes out. Take your time. Ignition timing can also effect emissions test. Also use best high octane available in your area
Hey ez I want to get a thought on my 44 hpmx. It stalled at every turn and when I got back home and let it cool down it would no longer idle even though I hadn’t adjusted it.
Mr EZ, I believe I need to tweak my accelerator spring, it’s idling fine, running good. But during transitions it stalls , sometimes completely cuts off, even while cornering. I was afraid to adjust the pump because I was getting a small leak from the pump spring leaking down into the cylinders (dual 40idf webers) any recommendations are much appreciated sir????
@@TheEZGZ thanks. Here’s one other thing. Once I turned the car off, the carbs were making a noise( like compression) and gas was sitting in the bowel. I took a wrench and turned the engine and noise faded away… could this be timing too?

I feel this video was made for me. I am currently working on my 40 idf and this video is very informative
Did you ever correct the issue
Should I adjust the air bypass screws instead of seating them if the engine is running rich?
Thanks EZGZ, just what I needed.
Another great video with clear instructions and explanations!
EZ is the bomb!

Good information, do you know what size that accelerator pump adjustment nut is ?
thanks for your help! great video!
You're welcome!

It had idled before while sitting still
Sounds like to much fuel pressure and the floats aren’t holding the fuel back
@@TheEZGZ thanks I’ll mess with it tomorrow

sounds like you need a new accelerator pump diaphragm .

Great info.👍
Do you live in Arizona or Colorado? I will be going that way this week. Don't know how you feel about a fan coming to visit.
I’m in Loveland Colorado if you want to stop by
@@TheEZGZ I might be able to stop by I'm about 200 miles from Denver Colorado
I run dual Webers. Car backfires. Ant thoughts?
did you solve it? usually its a leaking exhaust , but i think a crack between the plug and valve can also do this
Thank you
You're welcome. Create a great ride.
EZ! 👍🏻
