  • With amazing interest in the How to video created about idle tuning twin Webers and Dellortos, this video is the precursor as it introduces the step prior to idle tuning, its carbs balancing or synchronisation between twin carbs. This important step is crucial to set up your carbs correctly for the best performance. Enjoy and please remember to like and subscribe, oh and see if you can spot my little helper!

Thanks for this video. It's hard to find advice on Dellortos. I've watched this quite a few times already! What fuel pressure pressure do you run? I can't read the gauge!

New subscriber here love your content 🎉🎉 is that the huco ignition coil? I'm two minded on getting me one, some say it's bad some say it's good I don't know. Just looking for a good coil for my mk1 golf. Love from Cape Town, South Africa!!

Hi that’s a very good question. It’s red and I think Huco coils are red but I’m sure there are other red ones out there. There is no sticker or name on it. I do though however have a Petronix magnetic pick up in the dizzy and run an MSD 6AL capacitive discharge controller with built in rev limiter so these trick parts have transformed the way the car starts and idles

@@alfatechniks887 awesome setup. True what you say all the tricks all come together like one beautiful choir. Here in south Africa we so limited to parts(so it seems) and those who have clinging on to it like a retirement fund🤣 and I'm talking about all the parts I know of used in the 90s and early 2000s(my teenage years)

Do you follow Jethro Bronner? He’s in SA and has loads of parts by the looks of it.

Non ho capito come regolare il 1 e il 4 cilindro, così si regola solo il 2 e il 3 cilindro?

I was wondering what fuel pressure you use. Then I read the comments in the other video. 3-4psi. Next question: re a base setting on start-up for the idle mix screws: I've read everything from 1.5 to 3.5 turns out as the starting point. I've got a 1972 GT 1600 Junior with a 1750 engine.

Have you tried 1.5 turns. This is what I would recommend. I should be enough to get you started. Are you in the UK?

I'm in Australia. Just ordered an eye-watering amount of stuff from Classic Alfa and Alfaholics. This is a partially completed resto that I've just bought so am discovering a whole lot of things. I've never had Dellortos before. I'm cleaning out the fuel tank and filters before I run it through to the carbies. Will start at 1.5 turns and see if it fires. Compression is good on all 4.@@alfatechniks887

They are great retailers for Alfa parts, one the about classic Alfa Romeo’s is that parts are so expensive but very tempting options are there to go for lightweight race parts which if you have money are so nice. Enjoy you build. Do you watch homebuiltbyjeff I follow him in Oz. Make sure to synchronise those carbies once running

Hi again, the car hasn't run for about 5 years so it was a treat to hear it fire up after a few goes. I started with 1.5 turns out for the idle screws but I chickened out and turned them out to 2. Then it fired and runs nicely. I just got my synchrometer from Classic Alfa ( ordered on a Monday ...delivered to country Victoria, Australia by the next Tuesday !!) I had them horribly off balance and this little gadget got them to a balanced 2.5kg/hr idling at 800rpm after a couple of minutes. I then tried the laser thermometer and adjusted the idle screws. It sounds right and feels right but the temps were fluctuating madly... maybe the thermometer? Thanks for the videos ... i've watched them many times to get this far :)@@alfatechniks887

Brilliant news and thanks for your feedback. Looks like you are having fun and learning all the way. It will just need fine tuning. Have you adjust the ignition timing at all. Is that all set up correctly?

I use mercury vacuum sticks, far superior to this.
