  • This short tutorial will demonstrate how to access the print head ink ports which may be clogged so that you can enjoy full color printing again on the Epson Eco-tank ET-4550 inject printer. This tutorial is the summary of several other videos and doesn’t waste time with excessive mansplaining. Enjoy and like it please if you find it helpful.

Simple, to the point, no unnecessary, "common sense", procedures that would lengthen the video.....thanks and it worked great!

Thank you so much!! I’ve been trying to get answers for a long time (probably over a year!!) but somehow didn’t find your video until today! Can’t wait to finally fix my printer! 😊

Kevin is AWESOME. I have a ET-4550 and followed his video. Also mine was hitting the "tank full" error. So I bought his cleaning kit and waste tank kit. Also I followed his advice and downloaded the Waste Tank Reset software he recommends. It lets me reset to 80% full waste tank so for free 1 time so I can hold off paying for the full reset till later! Kevin is the best.

Thank you Kevin. When these printers came out they were not cheap, compared to the replaceable big tanks which are ridiculously expensive if you go OEM. If you go generic you risk getting a Bad Ink. I'm only having a problem with black. I suspect that when I added ink, I put too much pressure on the refill bottle and it stirred up any sediment in the bottom and pump them into the head. It's just a theory but that might help someone out. Don't put too much pressure on the refill bottle. I have about 50% of the black working. Someone else suggested creating like a spreadsheet with blocks colored, and running repeated pages. I've had success with that also. If I recall in the Epson documentation it said that you could do I think it was called a recharge but it used copious amounts of ink. That's not an issue but I would be concerned on how much ink the existing sponges could absorb. Thanks again for sharing.

For those who have "invisible ink" syndrome after a proper head cleaning, reassemble everything and let printer sit overnight. I tried everything after the cleaning...even a power ink flush which didn't fix a thing. I think the head just needs to refill over several hours. After letting my printer sit overnight, it prints like new. Also I used isopropyl alcohol and it works great. Just be careful because it's flammable (fumes alert) and you're dealing with power and electronics. Ammonia (windex) may be your best bet if you don't want fire hazard.

Hi Alvin, thank you for making this tutorial. I repeated the cleaning procedure three times but the yellow print head seems still dirty. The remaining print heads are perfectly fine. What shall I do? Many thanks, Marco

I was thinking about just using some denatured alcohol to pump through. Figured it would be good to use.

Hello Alvin, I followed your video and it worked for me, except for one thing I'm hoping you can help me with. When I cleaned the print heads the first time, the blue needed more work so I repeated the process. When I went back to test the printer again I got no ink at all to print. Any ideas that could help me from junking the printer? I can not figure out how to get the printer to print ink again.

I ve seen a similar video of an epson wf-3750 printhead clog. Different procedure, He used a syringe and introduced it into the line before the "cartridges" that you pulled out, injecting his own makeshift "cleaning solution". People tried it and also complained there about no longer having the ink printed at all.
I figured your method would've worked better since no air is added into the line and it's effecting closer to where the ink is printed.
I own an epson WF-3750 so I'll have to take apart more things to get those white cartridges out. But I am concerned as to why the other folks' ink stopped working before doing so.

Hey I heard that the print heads are very delicate so if you apply a lot of pressure with the cleaning solution it may damage the heads. I let the cleaning solution just diffuse without pressure. I hope this helps.

I bought this printer th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 to replace an aging HP printer. It is just used for casual home printing so I don't need anything more. Installation went easily though the HP Smart Printing doesn't work well with our laptops - having to select the actual device. Will have to see how the HP Instant Ink program works out. Plus haven't been able to set up printing from smartphone yet - either direct or WiFi

Create a document with blocks of color, or download an ink purge document. Print that a few times. Most likely the ink channels have cleaner solution in them and need to have the ink pumped through.

Anyone find a solution this problem? I have a feeling even my little bit of pressure may have screwed the print heads 😫
