    Hey Kevin, it's been a while I miss your videos. May you rest in peace. I just wanna let you know I'm hot tenting using a hammock version of some verses a tipi. Wish I could've shown you how cool it is to have a hammock hit tent. I didn't get a kifaru stove BTW not a mini, they don't make those anymore, so I got the med sized one!!! It's excellent. Thank you for introducing me to this type of adventure!!!

    Good to see you again. As I always you bring something new to the table. I have a snowmobile hot tent situation but lack a potential future backpack option. This tent looks perfect. I like buying American but there expensive and it’s not worth it if I don’t get to use it much. My snowmobile equipment right now works so I don’t want to get one nice tent for both situations. I’ll be considering this and thanks for the mod advice and links. I’m watching vids and gearing up. I hope to start my own channel this year that I didn’t pull off last winter. Thanks you are my top inspiration and I learned a lot from you. Got my Seek stove after watching you and others 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️⛺️🛷

    Third! I’ve liked it, now I’ll watch it! Thanks, man! I LOVE it when you go hot tenting! And the sound of that wood you sawed up for the stove...you just know when you knock two pieces of it together, the sound alone tells you how it’s gonna burn. Nice! The chorizo sausage with the cauliflower rice...forget about it! Looked delicious. I’ve switched to that as well.

    Those stone farmer's walls are at least 180 years old. They were most likely built pre-railroad. So, they were probably built sometime between 1700 and 1840. The approximate age can be determined by the lican on the stone. The work to build those walls must have been incredibly labor intensive involving heavy lifting and hauling by oxen. History is amazing! Enjoyed your video. Excellent!

    I like the idea of the 2 doors; the flexibility for entry is great, especially if you had 2 people in the tent, you wouldn't have to squeeze by each other or the hot stove. It looks like the same material as the OneTigris - 20D Silnylon making this one very light shelter.

    The hook inside the tent, at the top, most likely to hang an ‘inner net’ setup. I just bought a 1.5 person full winter inner (read-very little netting) from Luxe as a close out. About $41, cheap. Fits in my MLD Duomid XL just fine. Uses the hook at the top to hang. Nice video.

    Hey Kevin, thanks! the video I've been waiting for. Never heard of the Alibaba before. Been seeing a lot of TH-cam videos recently on the One Tigris/Black Orca Smokey Hut tents (which I never heard of either until very recently). They're about $140. I was about to pull the trigger on one. Now I have to go check out the one you have! your tent looks very similar to the Smokey Hut. Frying pan looks nice too. Wish I could have got a great deal on the Exped too. Can't ask for much more - Camping, Hot Tent and Sacred Bacon! Interested to see how your tent does in the dead of winter. I was leary on getting the One Tigris since the price was so affordable and how it would do in extreme weather.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the wood. Avoid fuels like White Pine and Hemlock (the tree). If you get a burn hole just seal it with a dab of sealer (the type depends on fabric). If it's a larger hole there are several types of tent repair tape (some works on silicone) available. Overall the damper/inline arrestor they include is one of the better systems going. I just tested it out with the spark arrestor "ultra" seakoutside sells. Despite what the manufacture says an experienced user can run both or at least in the SXL.

    I wish you where a little more detailed on the stove , did it have a pull out tray to dump your ashes? Or do you have to scoop the ashes out ? And can you control the air flow intake ? Did the wood burn to hot and to fast ? It’s a neat set up and that’s what Iam looking for to buy For a long term set up. The price seems good

      @MegaWoodswalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I need to scoop out ash usually once a day. There is a damper and thick wood will burn slower once there is a coal base and the system is easier to control. No ash tray, it's made to be as UL as possible. Thanks for watching!

    Why do they have gaps at the bottom? I’ve noticed that on a few different hot tents. Forgive the noob question.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nature of the beast for many floorless shelters because of the outer pegs, center pole and contours of the ground. The pro side is gaps allow air to flow in (woodstove and you both need air) however also cold. I like to cover the gaps with snow or leaf litter but if really sealed will crack a door open a bit. A liner (this tent doesn't have one) is often grounded on the inside so can act as a seal. Some shelters have something called a sod cloth which helps create a seal to the ground. Not this one however.

    If you compared the kifaru material would you say its a whole lot of difference?

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kifaru is better in terms of materials. 1000d cone etc etc. For the money it’s really good IMO but Kifaru is the standard for materials.

    O.k that does look interesting...although they dont seem to have it in brown anymore. How worried are you about sparks and the whole thing catching fire in comparison to a canvas hot tent? Cause i prefer them but they seem to only come in huge sizes and are insanely heavy. Thanks for any responses.

      I have been using Sil nylon tipi shelters for around 15 years now. The worst is a pin hole from an ember. More expensive ones like this Kifaru 4-man are made of sil nylon though probably of higher quality. th-cam.com/video/HuUjhnna-rY/w-d-xo.html

    what is the model of that camp stove???. its perfect, honestly i love camping and tenting... not much of a hiker... however i love the fall and have never even THOUGHT of doing this and this stove .. and tent type is beautifull and watching 2 (this is my second) of your videos has got the bug in me to do this now. I have a cast iron potbelly that i use every day in my shop and i have tried small camp stoves and they NEVER work .. this one is so simple and looks like it works beautifully .

    Not worried about the leaves? I’m not sure about what it’s like out there, but by me I’d clean it all out no matter what because of ticks. Those suckers are tenacious

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not worried about the leaves. Too wet to burn this time of the year. The ticks are an issue but they're all over. I spent just as much time around the shelter as in it. Also the leaves are a shield from the wet cold ground. This time of the year they're a net positive IMO. Now in August that's another story. More ticks and drier. Thanks for watching!
