Ye!
My brother in Wahoo-Weehee your website is still down
If you like silly fun content like League of Pigs, check out Jelle's Marble Run! It's racing marbles, and strangely compelling, good production value, with fun race announcer commentary.
if you get a "page not found", refresh and it will take you to the right page. Worked for me at least.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land would be a great game to give this level ranking treatment to
Bumping this ^
100%
Oh hey, good idea brother 👌
that would be intense i love it
ALIVEL MALL TOP 3
4:40 I think having to go back into the level to get the flagpole is a super subtle and effective teaching moment. It makes it really obvious that the old goal is destroyed and you got a special goal. And then it shows that you with the flag symbols that you got the levels SECOND goal post. Alternate exits as a concert are obvious to Mario veterans but I think that moment is important to newcomers.
How could S tier not have been renamed "Wonderful"
Swonderful
the s is silent
Because W is not S
Swinter
Controversial Opinion - The Final Final Test badge Marathon was my favourite level. At first it was so difficult and it sucked but when I got used to it I absolutely love replaying this level.
Definitely one of the most fun experience I've ever had in a Mario game. (Even though it took me over 60 lifes to beat for the first time)
i think it's gonna be based on: do you have the time, and how easily do you get frustrated?
Took me like 120+ lifes
It would make me so mad, but whenever I got the hang of a section well enough to do it consistently it was so satisfying. The invisibility part was just evil, though
@Max.Wipson Yeah, the first half isn't bad but the balloon fish part was awful.
33:38 This level has a hint in the background, if you look in the background you will see two similar background elements with one smaller. In front of the structure you can see snails crawling across some blocks which are in the exact positions of the hidden blocks compared to the bigger tower. I wish they used this in the level a hidden park, or change the level so you would be more likely actually notice the hint before beating it by randomly moving.
Ranking these must be pretty tough with how much fun they are and how good they look.
The world 2 special stage is the only one I’d put in F tier off the top of my head, I have PTSD from trying to beat it
Yeah, there are so many stages that are really fun and inspire my creativity, it’s tough to narrow it down. 😅
A lot of them arent THAT fun
Actually, it was super easy! Barely an inconvenience!
@@diabeticman2194 WHAT?! That's one of my favorites! I'm a big fan of rhythm games and games that move to the music, though, so I'm kind of biased. I can see how it would be stressful.
this game has the best levels overall in any Mario game imo. every Mario game before Wonder has always had those levels that make me go "oh.. right.. this level...", but Wonder doesn't have a single one of those
For me the "oh.. this level..." In wonder is the Search Party levels. Everything else is pretty fun tho
@@AwesomeTMC y'know what.. that's fair. Wonder has the benefit of being so open that you can pretty much just skip the search parties
I don’t know why, but I feel like something was missing from these levels that the NSMB games had. It may have just been the size of the levels itself, like the older ones felt a lot bigger in scale. Not saying these are worse, but there’s something it didn’t capture compared to the previous titles.
@@created3612 for me, what was missing was simply more game. almost every level was made to be unique and stand out among each other, but that meant many ideas and gimmicks were one-off deals, never to be seen again. for example, the silhouette forest level is super awesome, but it's a one-off thing. I would have loved more levels in that style
@@charKT-7461there’s a few silhouette levels, as well as a few more levels silhouette segments
gotta say, my favorite level in the entire game might be Muncher Fields on account of the atmosphere alone. the Wonder Effect is kind of meh, honestly, but’s the rain and the background provide a silent, almost solemn vibe that’s only heightened by the moody background music. it’s almost a melancholic moment that fits pretty nicely right in the midpoint of the adventure.
"I wish the level gave you more level". I felt that about many levels in this game haha
58:40 If I had a nickel for every time a version of King Boo sang opera in a licensed Nintendo game, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
When was the other time? :0
@@hoodiesartandtea Mario + R*bbids: Kingdom Battle
i feel like mario wonder has some of the most memorable levels in all of mario history. most of these levels you talk about i remember very well
Was not expecting a ranking video like this by Arlo, but here we are! Love it!
Hearing the complaints about the "Final-Final" level and as someone who really struggled but actually beat "The Perfect Run" in SMG2, I'm excited to play it.
FINALLY someone who actually likes the Puzzle Park levels. I thought I was the only one not clowning on them.
People don't understand that they're supposed to be played multiplayer and insist on judging it as a single player experience
@@PedroMatos482 tbh even as a single player experience I like them, they're very cryptic
If you are having trouble with the Final-Final Test: Badge Marathon, just put aside your pride for a moment, and do it as Yoshi. I myself cleared it as Luigi but it took me over 60 lives. Later I revisited it as Yoshi and got it done in two lives. I had practice so it may take you more lives, but the worst part of that level is the Spring Feet badge section, and Yoshi makes that section so much easier.
Nabbit makes it slightly more easy since it doesn't knock you back when you hit enemies. Also doing it online with others standees helps out with not having to repeat multiple sections.
@@samuelwilkin5 Yoshi is easier for the level because of his flutter jump
The thing I really love about all this new stuff put into these levels is how this give Nintendo a much better chance of releasing a Mario Maker 3 in the (hopefully) near future. Wonder levels would be so freaking awesome to make and play from people around the world, I really hope we get it.
Omg the concept of fanmade Mario wonder levels sounds AMAZING, I hope that happens!!
While I know the game is nearly 10 years old, Tropical Freeze would be another good game to rank if you do this again ^^
I honestly just played it for the first time last month and it’s founded itself as my favorite 2-d platformer to exist
DKC Tropical Freeze is a banger game, probably in my top 10/20 games of all time
My brother and I ranked all DKCTF levels a while ago, took hours but was very fun! This game is a masterpiece. (And i agree, best 2D platformer)
my brain didnt process so full sentence so i tought “mario wonder is HOW old?
Underrated game in my opinion, also my favorite 2D platformer. I can't believe it's been 10 years and there STILL hasn't been a successor or a DK game of any kind to follow it up. Hopefully we get something for the Switch 2!
30:08 I didn't know he could launch his mask!
Fun video! Think it would have been a good move to separate out the "break time" / "badge challenges" / "search parties" type levels into their own tier list for an easier way to compare rather than including them next to full levels with wonder effects
By the way, that's nor bowser attacking you on airship levels. It's the head from the bow of the ship, detached and floating around.
Nice list! I had the same reaction as Arlo with the Sound Off? Badge. Super Mario Wonder was very charming and fun, but I agree with Arlo that many levels just were too short, too easy, and/or the central gimmick wasn't fully explored. This probably is one of the easier Mario games I've played and I just wish some of the level challenges had more bite to them (some of the Special World levels were quite fun like the Jump to the Beat one). It also needed more boss fights like the Bowser fight. The Bowser Jr. and the Battleship bosses were just so lame.
Here's to hoping Nintendo releases a Mario Wonder level editor in the next Mario Maker! I would love to see people build more pure platforming levels that are longer and offer more challenge. with some of the fun gimmicks in the game.
As a Mario player since I was like 6, I feel like Mario Wonder is actually fairly balanced in difficulty. It has lots of levels where if you make a mistake you kinda just die, or miss collectables. And IMO, the game is (like a 3D mario) about getting all the collectables. So that is a big punishment I feel.
Nice list! I am a sucker for levels with iconic, memorable, or spectacular Wonder Effects, so some of the levels Arlo rated as middling like Maw Maw Mouthful, Dragon Boneyard, and Missile Meg Mayhem, I would probably put as S in my own mental tier list.
I would also add the Credits to the tier list, and that would easily get an S rank too. Might be one of the best playable credits sequences in any video game ever.
This game is so epic. I had so much fun playing it. I really didn't want the fun to stop honestly.
It’s that pure Nintendo magic :D
19:25 I came here to listen to arlo trash on these levels, you can’t imagine my surprise when the words “love these levels” came out of his mouth
I love clocking into work and starting my work day with an arlo video. 😁
I wish Arlo videos were exactly a full shift’s length I can’t count how many times I’ve seen his Pikmin review 😂
Tier List: Every Talking Flower!
This is a must!
48:26 This one deserves at least an A tier because of the sequence break in the level and the good design!
Also, random recommendation that's not game related, but as someone who also loves wintery things and listens to winter music all year, Kate Bush's 50 words for snow is a great super wintery album
Kate Bush is always a good suggestion.
I beat the Final Final Test, but honestly, it was kind of sunk cost fallacy at that point. Had I known how rough it was going to be, I might not have tried so hard to collect all those Purple 10s.
Most important Arlo video ever...
Joking aside, I love it when Arlo uploads long videos that I can just chill to like this one. Thanks Arlo. :)
Final badge is an amazing final level UNTIL THE FINAL JUMPS WHAT THE HELL AND YES I HAVE BEATEN IT
it's an A but cus of the last jump it's knocked down to a C
Love this kinda videos! You should make more rankings.
Robbird Cove in F is insane. I can't say why it should be higher though, I just really love the athmosphere of the regular level and the Wonder effect.
I gotta tune into ABC tonight… all these new shows sound great
Arlo ranking the search parties so high is terrifying 😂
I can't blame anyone for giving up on the Final-Final Test. It took me a few hours to finish it... mostly because of the last part, but other sections weren't exactly a cakewalk, either. Once I finished it, I swore I'd never touch it again... and then randomly decided the next day that I wanted to practice it and then record a no-death, no-hit run. I'm not sure why I enjoy self-torment. lol
This is therapy for me. Thank you, Arlo :)
I really enjoyed the final final level even though it drove me insane and it was a breathe of fresh air to get something that difficult in a mario game I hope we will see more levels like that in future games.
Most mario games have hard bonus content
Oh yay another long form video from Arlo to add to my comfort watch/napping playlist.
If this game had a Pikmin themed level the video would have been at least 4 hours long.
I'm enjoying having this playing in the background while I do my stupid adult job! Yous putting badge challenges lower than I would though...they were some of my favs
1 and a half long arlo video i can watch and listen to 100 times..yesssss sir 🫶🏻
Kane: I recorded footage of ALL the levels of mario wonder, are we going to do anything with it?
Arlo: Dang we better not waste it, I guess I can do a tier list of all the levels! lol
I really, really hope this game gets dlc of some kind, it really needs new levels expanding upon the game's mechanics since most appear for only 1 or 2 levels.
This is perfect timing! I was just settling down to play the last through levels to 100% the game
29:00
Linkin' Lifts is one of my favorite levels, actually, because it has two routes. Once you've beaten the level once, you might realize that you can just jump across the platforms instead of going on the autoscroller ride, which is more dangerous but also faster and more fun, and it saves time on revisits for 100%. I love the seamlessness with which this speedrunner-friendly system is integrated into the mechanic of the level.
Regarding the final list, I would argue that A Very Special March is the one level that beats Piranha Plants on Parade. Absolutely the best level in my opinion.
(Also we love to see the worlds 4, 5, & 6 levels getting high rankings. Definitely the second half is way better than the first lol)
(ALSO badge gauntlet is C at best in my opinion. Disgusting terrible level.)
Surely we get Arlo to stream the last level and let the viewers join as ghosts to help guide him through it so he can beat it
for me the biggest surprise of this tier list is that you liked the search party stages, I for sure would've thought you hated them.
Dang, boy. This was a lot of work. Great job
Ain't no way the final final badge converts all sound effects into basically acapella. That's so not worth it, but also so funny to me.
HELL YES AN HOUR LONG ARLO VIDEO
LANGOLIERS!!! Man, I was just passively listening, but I had to comment for my beloved Langoliers. OMNOMNOMNOM! 😆😆😆
Ha, jokes on you Arlo, I don't care about Mario Wonder levels one way or another, which means I didn't get mad.
Guarantee unfulfilled.
An Arlo video longer than the mario movie? LETS GOOO
WONDERFUL ranking.
I’ve seen some of the Pig Racing videos before ohmygosh, wonderful recommendation!
Daily reminder that you can double the playback speed by clicking/tapping and holding on the player itself. Good for when you want to -skip- enjoy an ad at double the speed without going into the settings each time.
24:11 “nobody would play with this on purpose” Arlo underestimating the challenge run centric community on TH-cam who 100% games while purposely making random obstacles and annoyances happen randomly.
I don’t blame you for not beating that last level. My thumbs were almost bleeding from so many repeated attempts, I had to take day long breaks in between before beating it. And it barely felt worth it.
Please do a full review of Pikmin 4!
It’s gonna be 50hrs long, give him time.
It’s probably gonna be a 19 hour big fat review
Admittedly, his videos do take a while to come out. I would say the quality makes it more than justified though, just my opinion
Yes, I second this. Pikmin 4 review. :)
Feels like it's more a matter of "when" than "if" with him
32:08 is criminal. That’s my favorite level for sure.
I had to beat the final final badge test TWICE because the first time I missed the top of the flagpole and I craved that full 100% save file. I really like most of the sections, the crouch jump section and the grapple section are particular standouts to me, but my GOD whoever designed the spring jump section with the firebars is so sadistic, that part easily caused 80% of my deaths. It's not even fun, it's just frustrating. Aside from the spring jump part, the rest of the level I found really fun. I would put it in A, but I can definitely understand wanting to put it lower
I haven't commented on a Arlo vid in a long time, but I totally understand the final final level frustration. The difficulty level of this stage was no longer fun for me; it took me like 250 lives to beat it, and I hated the game once I finally beat it.
Muncher Fields ( 1:04:13 ) highly confused me on my first play through because it is structured so weirdly. I actually think that the confusing structure enhances the level. Plus the background is freakin epic.
The Final Final Test took me 2 hrs to beat...fortunately there are checkpoints for every 3 areas you clear (except the last one...grr). Also you can get almost enough coins to sustain your lives indefinitely (started with 99, ended with 46 even though I died maybe 300 times).
The final one being the invisible badge is just torture (considering you had to clear 3 areas already to get there and no checkpoint). Spent an hour clearing that last zone alone.
Great level though. Good concept and thanks to checkpoints was possible to do if you have the patience.
the last microbadge not having a checkpoint makes it a C imo
first time around it's cool but once you get stuck to the invis badge and have to replay the last three over and over again it's draining
@@maliceegg especially because the invisibility badge is the most difficult to use and you have to bounce the whole time on odd-shaped things that could spring you the wrong way without realising it. Definitely could have used a checkpoint there (and I don't think we used the timed high jump badge or the fast dash badge, so it could have been a set of 3 challenges).
@@Pearcinator i forgot about the timed high jump badge, that could've been a cool challenge for the final level.
i like the final final test overall but the spring feet and invisibility sections im not exactly excited to replay any time soon
I really wish it was longer....feel you bro
Arlo, would you share your Christmas/winter level playlist?
a lot airing on nbc tonight innit
Final final actually isn’t that bad, each section has a flow and once you get used to it it’s fairly easy.
To be honest, Wonder has some of the best level designs out of any 2D Mario games and maybe 2D platforming games in quite an while. Even the weakest ones aren't bad. There still relatively good. Not only are they very unique & clever, but it has good exploration and without the time limit, you can go anywhere at anytime. Combined with the Wonder Flower effect, badges, collectables & other things thrown in, it makes every levels so much fun to traverse. It's also has the perfect difficulty balanced. Not too hard. But not easy. Though all Mario games are very balanced with difficulty. So it doesn't matter. I hope later 2D Mario games takes this note.
I really liked this game and your list, Arlo. I think having Baby Bowser replace the Koopalings is a mistake. The Koopalings had personality. My biggest disappointments of this game were the bosses and the easy difficulty. Nintendo really makes the mistake of dumbing the game down too much for kids. It really is still a letter grader beneath Super Mario World, which is still the greatest 2D Mario game.
You know that a game good when the second level is in s tier
For anyone struggling with the final-final level: every checkpoint puts its hardest section last, and the first 3 sections always have over 100 coins to grab! Shouldn't ever have to restart from a game over, I just kept hitting the coins for 1-ups and left the game open in sleep mode between play sessions until I beat it.
It's such a fun game, but once you complete it 100%, there's really nothing to do. Yes, it's fun to go back and play some of the stages over, but I don't see any real replay factor.
You have to give "Hurry Hurry" more credit. Anyone new to 2D Mario games won't know they need to hold down B all the time.
I prefer moving on quick between every idea and mechanic to overstaying their welcome. It gives the game a fantastic tempo that keeps you constantly surprised by new stuff. Very similar to Mario Odyssey.
I think it's a testament to the quality of the game that the lowest tier is mostly "eh, it's whatever" rather than "I hate this".
I am looking forward to the fall line up for prime time TV. Got a lot of weird Mario related shows, which is cool.
Just beat the game this is a treat
Hey Arlo, I’m not going to say I am your oldest fan, but I have been here since 2016. I feel like this video isn’t you man.
These tier list videos are a younger man’s game, and I know you have one million ideas floating around in your head that you would be way more passions about creating, and I think they would perform better if you trusted your passions.
I know you have a family to support. I know TH-cam is a butthead platform to work on, I know it’s rough out here. Maybe I’m wrong and you love this kinda thing, and you were so excited for this exact thing! But it just feels kinda weird, and I always hope to see you making videos about the things that get your little monster blood pumping.
Anyway I love you, I love the things you have to say, I will continue to support you and pray for your success on here.
What a concept!
DK Country: Tropical Freeze would be cool to see a rank of, as Arlo has previously said that was one of the best platformers hes played
“HOT HOT HOT” Is the first level that immediately came to my mind, it’s just so much fun and I absolutely looove the music.
I don't derive any pleasure from finally beating a stage I've been struggling with, but the final gauntlet in Wonder did that for me. It's so satisfying to finally beat that bitch of a level
Finally got around to watching this since I just completed the game, and HOW DARE YOU SLANDER MY PRECIOUS FLOATING HIGH JUMP BADGE. Yeah, it's not that interesting, but having a couple extra blocks of air off a jump, and especially the (frankly) absurd amount of hang time you get at the peak of your jump, makes a ton of the game's harder challenges almost trivial in comparison. I almost never unequipped the thing after I got it.
Man, I adore this game.
I just finished this awesome game lmao. Doing the wonderfull 100% now!
I started playing it recently, and I have to agree with everyone, it's a really fun game!
I'm not usually a fan of 2d mario, but this one feels different
League of pigs is so good! Pepper will have an underdog comeback! Been watching for many months
You can’t really rate the break times on the same merits as the other levels. They’re really not meant to be “sink your teeth in” challenges, they’re just there to break up the pacing, which is usually a problem I have with 2D mario games. They let you take a moment to just sort of goof off while still making progress, and get you reinvigorated to take on the meatier levels. S tier from me.
Can’t believe it, someone actually likes the search party levels!
THAT QUIZLET MUSIC JUMPSCARED ME
Be an interesting video to go through the D and lower levels and imagining how they could've made them better
Imagine if you did this with a New Super Mario Bros. game... 80% percent would be "this level? Was it even in the game? Can't remember..."
The Final Final test is also the only one I don't have the patience for.
Just wanted to see where you put Raarghs In The Ruins. That's my favourite level.
This game is a lot like Mario Galaxy where it has a lot of good ideas that aren't used all that effectively. Needs a sequel.
As soon as I saw that wonder flower segment in the trailer where we play as a Goomba I was hoping for one where we would get to play as Bowser. Sadly, it does not exist.
