Having a B support level makes it possible for the student to come to you and ask to join regardless of how high your skill levels are. It is possible to S/L each week to trigger this kind of event.

Ferdinand/ Caspar and probably other characters have the B support locked post time line. so we could not recruit them anymore unless we have the C requirement skill. Heavy armor is an horrible requirement.... is so hard to level up that one tbh, cannot even in battles

On my first run I couldn’t get anyone except Felix who was the only kind soul to accept my invites. On my second run tho everyone wants a piece of this professor

Hilda only won't join the BE if you chose the edelgard route. If you chose the church route and have B support with her, she'll join you right before the war.

Ed Wil I guess I could have explained why. It’s not really spoilery. It lets you unlock gift giving, and if you don’t do that quest there will be a point where you can’t do it anymore.

It's probably kinda obvious, but if you really wanna get your supports up with a unit you can invite them on Mission Assistance and just have them follow Byleth everywhere. Works twice as well if they have any support abilities to use on Byleth. Try not to feed them any kills, tho.
I am a support addict, so I say recruit all teachers and students. Plus it is better to save their lives.
I recruited everyone I can on my second play though, there are two ways to remedy is deployment cap issue. first is using the adjutant system to get them experience, second rotate your fighter around in auxiliary battles. You can keep running the auxiliary battles till all the weapons are broken, which will take a long while. Just remember whichever student you didn't recruit will likely die in the second half of the story, so if you want to save as many as you can you just have to catch them all.... I mean recruit them.

Jacob A. Gallant I killed her in my first play through in golden deer because I couldn’t recruit her before the time skip. Ashe is the only I could save but playing a second time makes it easier so I’ll be able to save everyone

Blue Lions: Felix, Mercedes and Sylvian
Golden Deer: Lysithea
Black Eagles: Dorothea and Petra
Blue: Mercedes, Felix, Sylvain... and Ingrid :D Very OP Falco knight !!!
Matias Lopez not Ingrid unfortunately. She has very low atk and only her res is worth noting
@@bobasimp9610 My Ingrid literally had 40x2 attack on the final boss with only an 11% chance to get hit for 4. She's busted as hell if you skill her right. She soloed the boss when even my Byleth couldn't do it.
its near impossible to make Byleth bad/not-a-god, so i went ahead and recruited everyone. you only need skill rank D and 15 in a stat if the student is at B support, or D+ and 15 if support is C+ (i only know you can see if its + when clicking X on the list for inviting them to something like food or choir). You also have to be careful with some students, because you can't get B support until after the timeskip. for example, i chose Golden Deer and I could not get Ferdinand to B supp until after the timeskip. However, i got my heavy armor to D, had a really high stat for him, and just piled on the "invisible" support points until he let me recruit him. Thats really my main takeaway here: its super, super easy to just powerboost support through gifts and activities so you only need D skills, making recruiting everyone possible. A note tho: do NOT skip every single paralogue to do this. build up support and skills in early game, and then when paralogues open up, do the ones that give important stuff. my suggestions are:
Lorenz's (+2 magic range relic), hilda's (her axe relic), Hanneman and Manuela's (exp accessory), Flayn and Seteth's (sacred spear and staff, plus important lore info on them), Forgotten Hero paralogue (gets Blutgang, powerful)

What works for me is 11+ points in the required stat, D+ in the required weapon, and lastly a B support with the student(Flowers are such an useful item).

IGN is misinformed. Hilda is indeed recruitable on the Black Eagles route but only during a relatively small window a few weeks before Part 2 begins.
Additional correction. You can only recruit Hilda iff you went the default Church route. If you sought out the Edelgard route, as far as I can tell. Hilda in unrecruitable.
Really? Coincidentally, I got her to B bond somehow, I thought it had to do with that.
If you went with Edelgard you get Lysithea instead, best mage in the game along with Hubert.

@@TheCayDawg Yeah she's the only one. BE route is the shortest tho so I didn't expect to get more unit. Each route has a student that will join you in part 2.
Get them to Support rank B through gifts, dinner, list items and tea time, end of story. Much, much faster than the wack stat grinding that ultimately ruins/makes Byleth waker

The easiest way to recruit characters is in new game+. You get the option to buy support ranks using renown with previous supports including up to A and S rank which usually isn't available in the school phase which bypasses all requirements and the student will ask you to join your house. I got literally everyone from the Blue Lion except Dimitri and Dedue into the Black Eagle house this way.

Is it possible to keep all recruited characters after the time jump. I lost one during my golden deer playthrough? Maybe it's a glitch.
If its Ashe, you'll see that man in one of the early chapters, and you have to defeat him with byleth to recruit him again. Anyone else will kill him.

I managed to recruit all of the kids into The Golden Deer house, save of course Edelgard, Hubert, Dimitri and Dedue, but I definitely wouldn't have been able to do it if I wasn't on easy mode; via the grindable free day missions, I was able to level up my Brawl and Faith skills. In addition, I used every opportunity I could to level up Riding, Flying, and Heavy Armor from the tutors. I also class changed to Monk, and after I'd ended up a little overleveled, I focused on healing the party and allowing my other healers (Mercedes, Marianne, Linhardt) to do more combat.
Supports can help, but be aware that, at least for Ferdinand, he requires you to be in part 2 before you can rank his support up from C to B. As for the others, I usually recruited them before I could see this shift. I managed to get Ferdinand during the very last month, so there's that.
Just get their support rank up it lowers the skill requirements

My first run (Blue Lions) I was only able to recruit Caspar because I trained the skill he wanted, but damn I trained also Magic for some other characters and no one wanted to come with me.
Lol Caspar is literally the most boring character, I literally pressed skip in all of his support convos

Depends on the route. On the basic route where *spoilers* happens in the main edelgard arc she won’t join but if you go with the church route and *spoilers* she’ll agree to join you

I think so, I know for Black Eagles, only one of those routes lets you recruit Catherine.
You can get her before the time skip for black eagles if you side with Edelgard i didn’t want to recruit her but you can

Tbh I pretty much only use my house members and not my recruits. Except Dorothea. You simply cannot say no to the Jojo hat.
3:57 Ashe on the golden deer route, for example. I recruited him in part 1 but you don't start off with him in part two. You have to get to, like chapter 13/14/15 and defeat him in battle. You can kill him or recruit him.
In the timeskip you can actually recruit other characters by defeating them with Byleth and choosing between recruit or finish their life
Really? I’m only 1 mission in but I didn’t have that option and killed 2 students with Byleth. Do they need to be 1 space away? (I was 2 spaces away)
@@ambrosiajam8008 I think it might depend the support or your weapon skill and stats because I defeated Lysithea (and I have high Magic and Faith) and gave me the those options. But it also depends on the house you chose because there are characters you can't recruit Like Dedue or Hubert

What is everyone talking about? It’s not difficult. I got hilda and lysithea by the blue sea moon and Petra by the blood wolf moon. Though does anyone know why some characters will make you wait for the next support. Like hilda A, Dimitri A, and Ferdinand B
Here’s a tip: flowers. FLOWERS. FLoWeRS. Throw the flowers at them. Shove them under their door. Give them to their friends to give to them. Leave them around the monastery with their name on them. Heck, spell out their name with them. FLOWERSSSSSSSS

Up your support with her throughout the year. You can’t give her gifts, but you can still eat meals with her to increase your support. After you get locked into the default BE route, you’ll have a small window of time to explore before the time skip and during this time, the “recruit”, “gifts”, and “lost items” options appear when you talk to her. I’ve read that if you raise her support high enough, she may approach you and ask to join anytime throughout the year, but I can only personally confirm that recruiting her was an option right before the time skip

For me I recruited Ingrid,Shamir,Marianne,Felix,Alois,hanneman(who I made a grappler) Manuela for the black eagles. When I do blue lions it will be Petra and Dorothea. Golden deer I will get Ingrid,petra and that's it.

first time, I only recruited Felix and Sylvain (both in which were freaking powerhouses)
second time... let’s see, I joined the golden deer, so I automatically get those characters. First I successfully recruited was Bernadetta (after many gifts, cooking, sharing meals and mission assistances cause I knew she was also a powerhouse when it came to the bow) Second was Petra when she asked to join. Dorothea, Felix, Caspar, Mercedes, oh yeah and every instructor plus Cyril. yeah...my rosters filled...hah...and I was still thinking of recruiting Annette or Ashe.

Why does it feel like fates or shadows had more recruitable units
Does anyone know where I can find the correct and precise info on recruiting every character? I know I have to fight students in Part 2 of any route, I think, but I don't want to kill them. I read there are some who you can spare, like Lysithea on BE, Ashe and Lorenz on the other two. I don't know how the Church route works. I also read that, for example, if I chose BE route, characters that are closely related to the Church will leave me, like Flayn. What is the difference between the BE and Church routes? If I recruit all students, on any route, will they still leave my party and I have to fight them on the many chapters of Part 2? What route do you think it's better for me? I picked Black Eagles and I apparently have the opportunity to choose Church or BE path. What are the characters available for each route? How different is the Church and BE route? What path is canon? If you reply, please avoid big spoilers.
I want to recruit all students on my first run. But apparently there are some recruitments that will be for nothing because they will still leave my party. I find information about it but then you go to another website and it says something slightly different. So I want to have the experience of someone who has cleared the game at least once or twice.

Since you can grind as much as you want, just keep battling until the weapons are D level, i only go faculty training for riding armor and flying
not if youre playing on hard mode. you are limited to how many battles you can partake in. really makes it annoying when multiple quests/paralogues are available.

Caspar: Blue Lions

Didn't recruit Lorenz, but had a C support with him. When i fought and "killed" him with Byleth in part 2, he asked to join after dropping to 0 HP.
Also, make sure to get at least C support with everyone as soon as possible. In the last month of part 1, the game was telling me that I missed the chance to bond with: Rhea, Leonie, and Hilda.
grind with bare minimum abilities like having magic at d and just grind endless free battles along with weapons, the only skills need work are riding, flight and armor training
My recruitment in 4 route :
- Crimson Flower : Sylvain + Ingrid + Lysithea
- Azure Moon : Caspar + Lysithea
- Verdant Wind : Ingrid
- Silver Snow : Everyone

does my strength have to be within 15-20 or is it because of my current moon? (im in the Lions vs Eagles thing after rescuing Flayn)

I just pasted the time skip and i missed out on 5 students, my house has 24 members now (including other houses, faculty and knights). i want to replay but i dont want to have to invest 40 more hours without knowing if i can recruit everyone person or not. Hilda can be recruited to the Black Eagles on Month 3, but you have to choose the Church Route, not the Edelgard Route.
From my experience, this is what you need to recruit students.
B rank with no support
C rank with C support
D rank for B support
Recruit ready for A support
Sometimes in the middle of the week, a student will ask to join your class. This can randomly occur if you have a B rank support with a student from a different house.
If you ever reject them during this event, you can trigger it again by getting an A support with said student. You can also ask them on your day off, but if they say no, you’re still missing a requirement.
I haven't finished the game yet, but I will tell you one thing; I am sure glad that I will have Jeralt there for me the whole game to help me increase my riding skills.
I understand your logic in not recruiting more people than you need. I however recruited everyone except Dimitri, Dedue, Adelgard, and Hubert on my Golden deer run. I did have my main team of 10-11 people, but I did a lot of training whenever I decided to battle for the month. I would always pick the auxiliary battles that didn't use any activity points and mainly used the people that weren't on my main team. This had a few advantages. It was a great way to earn gold and ore (especially after the time skip because you no longer get your monthly allowance). You can level up your main team if needed. Lastly, it allows you the opportunity to keep the people that aren't on your main team at a decent level and by using them, you get to see everyone's support conversations with each other. So by doing it this way, you don't miss out on a ton of very entertaining support conversations, and you also don't have to kill some of your favorite characters.
If you like a student, recruit him/her. Regardless if they balance out your team. This game isn’t terribly difficult and with the weapons triangle no longer a thing, it doesn’t matter how many of the same unit type you bring into battle. Also. If you don’t recruit them... you’ll regret it later 😭
It might not be necessary to recruit every student, but I’m already on my second play through and I’ll be damned if my Golden Deer won’t join me in my Blue Lions play through.

I have a friend who recruited everyone except for three students. Meanwhile, I’m over here with Mercedes, Dorothea, and Sylvain recruited lol.
Apparently there are some character that hate you and cannot get the B support untill way later in the game. For now i discovered that Caspar, Ferdinand and Leonie are under this rule

1:22 this is not true. i recruited her in my black eagles run. make sure you reach B support with her and talk to her in the last month of part 1.

If you really want t register a student just get the support to B and they will come to you to join.

Didn’t really care much about recruiting on my first play through with black eagles....but when I played blue lions I recruited everyone....the thought of killing them destroyed me inside!! Then I felt even more terrible as I got to know the other students that I killed in my first playthrough like Mercedes and Annette those sweet girls didn’t deserve to die by my hand!!!!

faculty training with manuela but the best way to recruit Mercedes is to cook with her in the cafe. this will increase support and power up your team.
