Lol is not that hard tho, i alreqdy knew most of the things in the video except for the jeralt having seiros's blood but i guess that's cause i still haven't finished silver snow
That confirms it - she delibetarily wipes her memory out to just forget this endeveaor. I mean, FEH implies she "created several worlds", so I suppose being shanked during nap after wiping out a race full of nukes, lasers and mechas AND restoring the ruined world all on her own... Is kinda embarassing
Uh, Sothis was already dead. She "fell asleep" like how Naga and the Gaiden Divine Dragons "fell asleep". Nemesis took her REMAINS, otherwise known as what's left of her corpse. Heck, she slept in a coffin.
@@auraguard0212 dude its been 2 years I don't need your "erm aktually 🤓" moment I was just making a joke based on the wording of the video. I know she was technically already dead
>seiros took sothis's heart >put it into a nun >which got impregnated by jeralt >who birthed byleth >who also inherited the blood of seiros and the heart of sothis >and bylet can have a romantic relationship with seiros despite being not only directly related to her blood but housing the heart of her mother that's like...quadruple incest
Actually, Jeralt had a blood transfusion from Rhea and Sitri had the Crest of Flames from Rhea's science stuff. Crest of Flames is Sothis' blood, who is Rhea's mom, but also Rhea is technically Byleth's aunt too? Wtf
*doing math* Okay. So we have Sothis, who is Seiros/Rhea's mom. Jeralt - gets a blood transfusion from the daughter, making him.. what? like her son or something? or a twin? So then Sitri.. gets the crest of flames because of the heart that was given to her, through the mom. SO. at best, Sitri's Rhea's Sister, and Jeralt is Rhea's kid now. So, Aunt/Nephew action best case scenario. Worst case? Mom/son. if Jeralt is instead Rhea's brother cuz of the infusion and not son. If it's mom/son you're looking at Rhea being Byleth's aunt, and if it's Aunt/Nephew action then I guess Byleth is her grand kid? but also her niece or nephew.... Man. shit's more complicated than game of thrones... Either way, it's technically incesty. and I say incest, cuz who the fuck are we mere mortals to say what is and isn't incest/wrong when it comes to 'gods'. Zoroastrianism used to believe that (if I'm not mistaken or over simplifying) that their ruling class was directly related to the god(s) and therefore it was imperative they keep the bloodline 'pure'. From what little I actually understand of that religion's history.
@@majorplothole2620 Yeah Nabatean blood transfusions are weird because, from what we know, they change human genetics, but we don't quite know to what extent. Jeralt's lifespan was increased by a long ass time (like, Alois mentioned Jeralt claiming to have lived over a hundred years.) So then how much of Byleth's genes were influenced by the Crest of Seiros? Same with the Crest of Flames, is Byleth's resemblance to Sitri partially because of them both being born with Flames genes? Considering that Sitri was a literal science experiment, we don't have a clue.
She came from SPACE! You actually see what was likely her inside a meteor that crashed into the planet during the brief images of Sothis past before you see Seiros vs. Nemesis. Amongst other things you can see a Gorilla, Skycrapers, ruins, and Egyptian like area named Thinis where Sothis resided. Her Fire Emblems Heroes dialogue also reveals this isn't the first time she's done this either.
She seems to be a divine dragon to be exact. Divine dragons are a special kind of manakete (just to get it out of the way: manaketes are shapeshifter dragons that appear human most of the time, which is demonstrated best with Rhea), that have some control over space and time (best examples of this I can think of right now are Naga and Gotoh, which are both from the Archanea saga).
That one person no one cares about Valentia reveals Trees grow where Divine Dragons lay dead. There are similarities but how far it goes stops the moment she had a rock in her chest as a heart, as Dragonstones were random rocks Divine Dragons grabbed to put their power in. Not to mention due to having some close ties to the Mobage game FEH(With some inaccuracies), Sothis is the only Dragon immune to dragon slaying. Not even Naga is immune, which says there's supposed to be something unique about her.
Dimitri: I will get revenge on those who killed my family. Edelgard: I will get revenge on those who killed my family. Claude: *ay I'm gonna end racism, wanna come with?*
I love how like 60% of the comments are about edelgard and Dimitri having serious motivations and Claude just out here wanting to put the CEO of racism in the bad boy corner
Edelgard - My father was stripped of his power and me and my siblings were taken into custody for experimentation. I was the only survivor. Dimitri - My father was betrayed by my stepmother and he and all the men with him were slain in a coup blamed on the people of Duscur. I was the only survivor. Claude - So... I was born and... one time my mom tied me to the end of a horse. That was cool.
It is not known whether Patricia (Edelgard's mother and Dimitri's Stepmother) was involved in the tradegy of Duscur, it is only known that her body was never found. Now this could have two reasons: 1) Patricia may have been an Agarthan, like her brother Volkhard (Thales). We can't really say for sure that she was an Agarthan, as they tend to impersonate people, mostly those who have vanished/been absent for a while (Like Monica and Tomas). Volkhard is similar in that regard, as his behaviour suddenly changed at one point without any indication as to why it changed (He regularly donated money to the church but it abruptly stops at some point), so it is possible that Volkhard was at one point replaced by Thales. This could mean that Patricia is human, unless she was also replaced. Now to the point why there was no body: She may have died in the Tradegy of Duscur, but Those who slither in the Dark may have retrieved her body before anyone else could, either to sow distrust, making in seem like she was involved (if she was human) or to hide the secret of their identity, as Thales saved Kronya from Byleth for the same reason. 2) She may be alive, but then there would be no reason why she never reunited with her husband and her daughter, so I doubt that. Note that these are just theories and in no way confirmed.
Seelenfisch She was. Those Who slither in the dark(big tiddy addition) set everything up to go bad in Faerghus. Amongst other things she: Kept Patricia isolated to depend on her. Kept Lambert from having any personal time with his wife. Had Arundel being around kept a secret from Patricia. Arundel kept Edelgard a secret to protect her, Cornelia knew but Lambert didn't. She did all this by using the fact Original Cornelia was Patricia's BFF and brought her from the Enpire to the Kingdom in the first place. Then she got killed and Slither'd in the process.
@@Seelenfisch It's pretty obvious that she was involved in some way. What isn't obvious is her relationship with Dimitri's dad. Judging by what we got, it doesn't sound like it was sunshine and rainbows. Hell, Dimitri (and Edelgard) seem to be the only ones that acknowledge their connection XD
Lady Azurafied Okay but then why watch a vid with spoilers in it? You said Never knew, like you had experience with the material. Not to mention it’s a mid-length game, that gets shorter each playthrough, and if you got it on release it came out last summer.
Then again it wouldn't get redundant at a certain point? Yeah, Edelgard's new vision would solve the unfairness of not having a crest but only momentarily, the issue would still remain, crests are broken it would be matter of time before crests bearers got back in the high spheres thanks to the advantage crests gave. I mean just look at Dimitri when he snaps in the BL route. Also rather than Corrin I would say Hoshido sweating nervously.
@@srlopez875 Pretty sure Edelgard would also, naturally, crack down on crest experimentation/research as much as possible, considering her experiences. As for "would the issue remain"- perhaps, but Edelgard's route would crack down on the worst of it- also, frankly, the crest bloodlines are thinning out with each generation. The crest system, as is, basically incentivizes rape (consider Miklan's abduction of women- it's not explicitly stated, but one can imagine what it's for) and all sorts of other abuses- it creates both a sort of caste system, and also is part of the church's "divine right" equivalent- which has led to plenty of its own problems. Crest bearers might have major advantages, but in a society where others at least get an equal treatment (as much as the state can enforce or provide, anyways)- and where the abuse of crests is cracked down on- a lot of problems would already be fixed.
@@Thanatar13As if that would stop places like Almyra and other close territories to the Empire from further experimenting on Crests. Hell, the Empire itself wouldn't last. Remove Edelgard and we're back to square one.
Edelgard: The system where people who have crests gain power is wrong, let's have a system where merit decides your power. This is different from how people with crests gained power by being naturally more powerful. People with crests: This sounds like a wonderful idea, let's use our super powers to gain power in this system that is totally different from the system we previously gained power in. Edelgard: Because of how radical an idea this is, and how nobody would agree to it, I must now launch a war that will destabilize the governments and economies of the neighbors, and murder thousands of people to bring about this revolution. Many people without crests who will now die in a war to give them the opportunity to become lower class citizens again:
A great video, but there are a couple of corrections I'd like to make: 1. The Holy Tomb was actually built by Sothis long before her body was put there. Rhea explains on Verdant Wind that it was made to protect the Nabateans from the Agarthan's weapons. 2. Seiros itself is a fake name as well, Rhea states on Verdant Wind that she took on the name after the massacre at Zanado. It's unclear what her original name was.
3 words to describe the entire story is basically: i want revenge. Rhea wants it, dimitri wants it, edelgard wants it, then claude just exists trying to "talk" to the CEO of racism.
A good chunk of the lore is given in exposition dumps at the end of Silver Snow and Verdant Wind. More of it is implied through character dialogue in supports, paralogues, and story chapters. But the real majority of this is from the books in the Library both in the base game and in Cindered Shadows. And only the Abyss Library is actually reputable, since Seteth censors most of the information in the monastery library you then have you interpret what is propaganda and what's the truth. This game did not make its lore very easy to understand. And that's coming from 350+ hours in it.
Jeralt and baby Byleth's faces were the best. I think most of this lore is in Silver Snow since it's fairly new to me (I'm still working on that route lol) but from my plays of Verdant Wind, Azure Moon, and Crimson Flower it's nice to see the route-based plot of the game be packed into a nice little video for my single braincell to understand.
Crimson Flower doesn't really have a lot of lore, while Verdant Wind and Silver Snow are kind of similar, but Silver Snow does have a lot more lore since, you know, Rhea/Seiros knows all of this, and you get to know it in Verdant Wind because Claude likes information
Nah if you played VW, remaining lore is from cindered shadows. Silver snow only contributes one tiny bit of info that wasn’t actually even mentioned in this video
Yeah, a lot of 3H lore is general FE lore twisted into a dark, almost unrecognizable form. And yet it also answers some lingering questions. Like, what happens if a nondragon tries to use a dragonstone? Well apparently, they still transform into a dragon, they just lose all traces of sanity (like actual dragons do, but instantly instead of over the course of millennia)
@@Rot8erConeX It makes me wonder what would happen to those with the blood of a dragon, but they're not actual manaketes. My guess is the same thing happens, but they take on a similar form of the dragon they share blood with. (Spoilers) Like what happened when Rhea's subjects went insane with her, even though they didn't use stones? I which again makes me wonder about the royals sharing blood with the Dawn and Dusk dragons from Fates. Or Robin sharing Grima's blood despite staying in his human form when he summons him
Twisted is right, in all other games involving the Manaketes it's either explicit or implied that they're deleveled dragons entirely to maintain their sanity. In 3H they're almost choosing to reverse that reversing process to go back to crazy town. Goddamn dragons v:
As a person who has 400+ hours on this game, I’m just now realizing that Sothis didn’t in fact have crazy sex with humans to form the Nabateans but asexually reproduced. I don’t know why I assumed that, after all it has been done before with Tiki and Naga, I just thought Sothis saw humanity and was like *”nice”*
@@GeoSage1137 Until you realize the most well know parentage of all the dragons in the current day cast is Flayn canonically having both a father and a mother. In all likelihood, Sothis was unique in her ability to asexually reproduce, her children not sharing that trait.
@Shalakor Fair. It seems like True Dragons can reproduce asexually (for instance, Sothis in 3H or Anankos in Fates), but their offspring then lose that ability. Kind of like how a Mule can't have offspring, but on a lesser scale
I thought it was a funny over exaggeration when he said they built nukes. I did the blue lions run first. I just played infiltrate Fort Mercius in the golden deer playthrough... about that...
@@ventaile755 Yes, but they are still very powerful bombs in comparison. This would probably be considered something else than just a bomb though because nukes don't turn the ground to lava. As an in-between nuke or prototype nuke would be an apt comparison, but saying they're nukes is still for comedy because of over exaggeration.
Something not mentioned in the game directly but implied by knoweledge given is that all magic came from Sothis in Fodlan. This is obvious with hindsight when you notice everything but Dark Magic use Sothis Divine Symbol, which Sothis shows via Divine Pulse to be her power. Dark Magic is tied to science directly so it's not as bound normally. Though the Forbidden Spell of Zaharis they try to entrap them in a world of darkness relies on the Crest of Flames(It's right there embedded in the rock) so even Dark Magic has some ties to her.
I'm still confused about other aspects, this video states that Edel wanted to just strip the nobility from the crest bearers, but in game she was very vocal about eliminating crests altogether, at least that's how I interpreted it.
Miner Moleman She doesn't eliminate Crests altogether, but downplaying how useful they are is a goal. Corrupt nobility also included Crestless bearing Nobles, as over half the Six Great Houses don't have Crests. But she focuses on it instead of humans being aweful because she believes humans are awesome so she blames the Crests. Of course humans being morons and willingly ignorant they chose to focus on Crests solely as tools of war, but ingame theres a lot that says Crests weren't really meant for that. Including passing down personality traits. Like Indech is a NEET so Bernadetta is a NEET
@@BlackfangDragon thank you for the explanation, I didn't think I'd ever meat another person to understand the flaw of Edelguards ideal. I'll hazard a comparison to socialism. the ones who created it intended it to ensure wealth is distributed evenly throughout the city, the goal was to create something like a world without poverty, and maybe a world almost devoid of greed, but what did Stalin do? he seized all government power for himself and turned it into an even crueler dictatorship than Hitler's regime. even if your suppose to be the hero king that could do anything, mortals grow old and die, and their children aren't guaranteed to grow up with their parents virtue. people are biologically designed to make sure they can survive tomorrow before they even think of helping anyone else. as long as humanity draws breath, we are doomed to repeat history. it is in our nature to sin.
Miner Moleman I mean I'm not against the idea of what she seeks so long as it makes more logical sense to me in a game. I really liked Yamato Hotsuin and he had similar Meritocratic ideals. It's just he knows just how easy it would be for mankind to rig such a system so he relies on (Alien) God to prevent that.
Never thought I would actually witness this conversation out between the intricacies of this game's lore paralleled with our own systems. I am loving it.
Hey! This is awesome! Subscribed. One thing, though, that the game doesn't make too clear. Duscur is the peninsula at the north of Faerghus to the west of Sreng. You can see the natural border up there on the game's map of Fodlan formed by a tiny mountain range. After """The Incident""" it was given to tiny nearby House Kleiman for how good they were at genocide. Took me hours of research to find that a few weeks ago, because this is what my life has become.
@@ChaseKip On the map, before selecting Dedue's paralogue (War For The Weak), the area is lit up. This reveals that area is indeed Duscur. It's the only actual confirmation in the game saying that area is Duscur.
So I knew all of this after playing all 4 routes and the dlc but the exact timeline and where everything fits together was still confusing me. This did a good job of explaining it, plus it was super funny and I like your animation style. Great stuff!
Its always been funny to me that 3 lords who will soon rule their respective territories found this random mercenary in the jungle and basically made him the cornerstone of an entire continent by doing virtually nothing
Great job! As a fan of Three Houses, gaming lore, and “history of the entire world i guess,” this was a treat to watch! Just a few things: No mention of the Four Apostles, their failure to revive Sothis, and subsequent exiles (this is new stuff from the DLC, so I understand, haha). I’m pretty sure that the game itself never mentions Wilhelm being a former ally of Nemesis, though I know that the wiki said that he was for a really long time. Duscur is on the world map: it’s the triangular peninsula sticking off of Faerghus to the Southwest of Sreng. The game map labels it as Kleiman, since House Kleiman was given control of Duscur as a reward for their participation in the Tragedy/slaughter of the people of Duscur. Some people may fight me over this, but Claude wants to unite Fódlan and Almyra as diplomatic allies, not as one country. Hope I don’t sound snarky. Just trying to contribute a bit to this lore compilation! :)
You know, seeing this all explained in one video rather than being hinted at in the story or through support conversations really makes it easier to understand. Thank you!
Not even a week after this video came out and we got an official interview that mentions Claudes real name, that his half-brothers were the ones that picked on him, and that Nemesis and Elites being remembered fondly by their followrrs is why they couldn't really villify him beyond saying he was corrupted by power, and so ease people into the Empire without resorting to killing them. Also Those in Slither in the Dark probably trying to cause rapid progress and the Church attempted to slow it down for cause the last time it happened (Agarthans) and other Reasons[Either new content for 3H in the future or a sequel/prequel].
Some more was translated on message boards. Specfically Dimitri's is the path of the benevolent ruler, while Edelgards is the path of Spremacy. Translated as Supreme Ruler elsewhere I believe
A few things: The Holy Tomb was/is in Garreg Mach not Zanado. It's never stated that the children of the ten elites were spared because of their crests. I believe a recent interview confirmed that Rhea let them be because she just wanted peace by that point. Was in Japanese so maybe it was mistranslated, I may be wrong. Putting Sitri's heart in Byleth was actually Sitri's idea, she begged Rhea to do it in her last moments. Maurice's children clearly lived as well, so it was really the children of the 11 elites who were spared. All pretty pandetic shit, good video.
It may have been Sitri's idea, but it was more then convenient for Rhea, considering she had declared Sitri a "failure" in the experiment to resurrect Sothis and needed another body anyway. Everyone always gives Rhea a "goldstar" for this apparent "selfless act", yet fail to see or mention how it played into Rhea's plans and how she abused the saving of Byleth years later, by trying to go through with the ritual/experiment.
Important to note that implanting the Crest Stone in place of Byleth’s heart was entirely Sitri’s wish. She begged Rhea to do so, in order to save them. Must have been hard for Rhea, since she’s effectively sacrificing one of her children in place of another.
Nah, wasn't hard at all. Sitri at that point had failed to resurrect Sothis, so Rhea needed another body for Sothis heart anyway. If you defy Rhea in the holy tomb, she straight up calls Byleths mother a "failure" so... if Rhea wept for Sitri, then with crocodile tears. She was a puppet to her, nothing more. She also walks all over Sitri's wish years later, by trying to go through with the experiment.
@@thepax6390 We can't definitively say that it wasn't hard. There's no indication that Rhea was in the habit of proactively killing off the vessels in the interest of being able to try again ASAP, which is what seems more logical if they had no meaning to her beyond being puppets. All indications are that she tended to set them in motion and then let them live their lives (unless she's greatly understating how many attempts she made). Otherwise, Sitri would never have gotten the opportunity to fall in love, get married, and have a child.
@@Eladelia Duality of nature? Why call Sitri a "failure" then, it reduces her worth, in front of her only child no less, to beeing an object in an experiment and links that worth to success in said experiment, which on top of that, is designed to vanquish individuality in favor of beeing a puppet/vessel. Rhea also DID say she was going "tear Byleths heart out herself", meaning while she doesn't usually rips out important organs to restart her experiment right away, she's not above it either. We also don't know how long it takes to declare her human experiments failures, maybe she had to wait before declaring them as such.
@@thepax6390 Very true! It may be that she suspected them to be failures almost immediately (when they didn't seem to come to consciousness with any of Sothis obvious in them), but then let them live out their natural lives in hopes it would emerge sometime later. It may even be that what made Byleth a success wasn't the parentage so much as Byleth being the first (as far as we know) to *not* live in the safety of the Cathedral's fortress. For all we know, Sothis would have woken in one of the others if they'd ever had the occasion to nearly be murdered by a bandit and give Sothis a really pressing reason to react, rather than just going through the quiet lives of priests and nuns. (Hard to say, though. Sitri presumably didn't have the zero emotion aspect going like Byleth, or it wouldn't make any sense that she was able to build up a loving relationship with Jeralt.)
@@Eladelia Yes, it would be hard to imagine that Jeralt forced himself on an emotionless mannequin. Sitri had to be self aware, full of emotions, dreams and goals of her own
Sothis-Byleth you’re in smash now. Take my spine as a weapon! Byleth:WTF?! No! Sothis-Oh you don’t want to be just a swordfighter, take these other corpses! Byleth:YOU WEIRDO

It's vaguely referrenced in the chapter of the ceremony of rebirth of the godess some conversations say that the godess came from a blue star if I remember correctly
A couple nitpicks: 1:02 Zanado wasn't built around the Holy Tomb, Garreg Mach was. Zanado is in the red canyon (the map from chapter 2) 4:07 Jeralt was a soldier in the Kingdom of Faerghus' army when he met Rhea. He didn't become a mercenary until after quitting the Knights of Seiros
Oh man, I love this, a nice and pretty organized video pretty much explaining the backstory of Fodlan. I love how all this information is in the game but is never outright told to us as some kind of lore dump. Especially since I’m sure anyone who plays all 4 routes pretty much comes to this conclusion almost exactly. The way I though of the history of Fodlan was pretty much exactly how you outlined in the video, though I did get confused where each event took place
I never really understood why Edelgard's hatred turned to the crest system instead of to the ones who slither in the dark. And why she trusts their account of what happened (aka. "the church is evil") after what they did to her.
She was deftly manipulated by them. She thinks she knows what's true and what's not, but in reality she still follows most of their propaganda. In fact, she's unknowingly following their plan throughout most of Crimson Flower.
Because the Church literally created the Crest system, they're the upholder of the hierarchy and enemy of my enemy is my friend, TWSITD and Adrestia only work together as far as destroying the Church goes then they turn on eachother
@@gryranfelt5473 The Church is the root cause of the perpertration. Destroying TWSITD brings revenge to her and Lysithea, destroying the Church avenges everyone whose life was ruined by the Crest system. More importantly its not even about her, Edelgard needs to destroy the Church to bring forth a more equal Fodlan since the Church is the pillar of the Crest system
@@sarahluise3153 By the time the War of Heroes was over, crests were already an established part of society. Seiros couldn't just denounce them and tell them that their crests came from the blood of her entire race. That would only incite more conflict. Instead, she was forced to appease them by hiding the truth. In reality, Rhea wishes that she could end the emphasis on crests and heroes' relics, but the church does not have to power to make such sweeping societal changes as that. Also, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is an extremely flawed line of logic. TWSITD is not an ally to anyone, and they see humans as nothing more than beasts. Edelgard stands no chance against them without Byleth, and even with Byleth she'll take heavy losses thanks to their nukes and advanced technology. Edelgard makes it seem like the Church could just poof the crest system away if they wanted to, but reality is always more complicated than that. There is no simple answer to a complex problem. Eliminating crests would not solve the societal problem of noble bloodlines being favored. Similarly, any government based on "merit" will easily fall to corruption in several generations due to the fact that "merit" isn't something that can be measured in any way. After Edelgard's death, her empire will slowly rot away as powerful people inevitably start appointing others based on nepotism and bribes.
One minor error made in this video: Rhea is her birth name. She explicitly states in Verdant Wind (at least I'm pretty sure it was Verdant Wind and not Silver Snow) that she took up the name "Seiros" to wage war against Nemesis.
Yes, but not that Rhea was her true name, Rhea is probably another false name, in fact it seems she has had multiple different identities across the ages considering how by what people say there seems to have been different archbishops through time that are all obviously Rhea, who seems to be keen in hiding her true nature and identity and making people believe that she is human though she has really been ruling the church for over a millennium, so it's very possible that she has also had other false names, which means that we wouldn't know what her true name actually is
So wait, Edelgard becomes the unwitting puppet of TWSITD but instead of fighting them she actually helps the people who ruined her life? She want's to change the system but the reason why she want's to change it is because she was experimented on and she allied with said people to fulfill said goal, so she just ends up being a pawn in the end.
Funny how the one who claims to have the clearest vision is also manipulated the most. Although the epilogue claims she eventually attacks to Slitherers later... off screen
@@sonogrande7628 You want me to make this really, really funny? In Verdant Wind Claude eradicates the entire homebase of the Slitherers in an afternoon. In Azure Moon Dimitri bulldozed his way through Fodlan so fast that he killed all the Agarthan leadership without even realizing it. It's only when Edelgard takes Fodlan that the continent is dragged into a shadow war so brutal that Bernadetta turns into a Full Metal Jacket character. The one Lord who is able to actually prepare for the Agarthan attack and her method ended up the most inefficient of all the students.
@@elevate07 You're are speaking no sense, Fodlan needs a new system without Crest and gods, twsitd can be easly destroyed, every route eventually eliminated them. YOU CANT CHANGE THE WORLD WITHOUT CASUALTIES. Dimitri sided with church, BUT THE CHURCH WAS THE TARGET TO ELIMINATE, Rhea and her crazy things. What is the need of a false goddes who does the fuck she wants?
@@sonogrande7628 did it? Because as a start the church preaches against the abuse of crests. Visit the library and read the book of Seiros where the church explicitly states that men using crests for personal gain is what made the goddess leave. Which btw Rhea and all Naabateans loathe the crests and the Hero's Relics considering both only exist via the corpses of their dead family members. Crests are the creation of man you are chiding Rhea for a problem she didn't cause unless you wanted her to genocide all the children of the 10 Elite which actually would've made her the monster Edelgard accused her of being. Not that it matters because Fodlan was already trending away from Crests. Of the 24 students within the Three Houses only 3 has major crests and of those 3 only 1 has his Crest naturally, Felix. Houses Galatea, Bartrell, Hrym, and arguably Gautier were already fading with time. None of Ingrid's brothers or sisters had crests, Sylvain's brother didn't have a Crest and neither does Sylvain's children. King Lambert was already making reforms to steer power away from nobles before he was assassinated and Dimitri took on his values. Sylvain, as Margrave Gautier, ends the land dispute with Sreng and dependance on crests within Faerghus if he survives the war. Rhea had every intention of stepping down as Archbishop and just giving the position to Byleth, someone Edelgard is obsessed with. None of this war was necessary.
Most of this was pieced together in my mind. After lots of critical thinking, piecing everything together through grinding every support in the game. Its nice to see a visual to the story though.
Thank you for narrating and editing this helpful recap of the lore of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Having played the Golden Deer route first, I can see how numerous pieces of the lore puzzle would be left unfound for players who didn’t play all four routes, including the Edelgard sub-route in the Black Eagles route.
Disappointingly so. Like, basically none of the lore actually influences what happens in the game proper, it’s mostly just background fluff that would change only a very small fraction of the plot if removed.
I feel so enlightened now. I didn't know most of this stuff because I can't convince myself to do any route except the Blue Lions. Thank you for sharing what you know.
I’ve played through all the routes except Silver Snow and this really helped with understanding how all the pieces fit together. Especially with Rhea’s motivations which make a lot more sense
I need to know where Ferdinand came from. That little hellspawn says his name so many times I had to go underground to steal ducktape to silence him, as somehow magic doesn't work
I always thought that before the Nabateans came along, Fodlan was split into various barbaric tribes that constantly warred amongst themselves for dominance, pretty much what was early Europe was like before the Roman Empire fell.
@Manek Iridius Nintendo doesn't care about what is depicted if the ratings and marketing is planned in advance. Monolith for exemple if a full fledged first party dev of Nintendo unlike IS and HAL and they still make Xenoblade, which like the other Xeno games is pretty much just an excuse to make the most reference to christianism possible while commiting genocide and finding a way to get unethical human experiments and giant robots involved. That's not really something they would tolerate if they wanted to get an E rating on every game, especially in NA which usually only tolerate religious references if it is not made explicitely christian. By the way a funny tidbit, Kirby Star Allies was censored in North America because the story made too many reference to "God" to get anything bellow T if they refused to censor, which is not optimal for a Kirby game since it pretty much relly on the fact that it is accesible to anyone to sell, which is why the lore is mostly in the background.

Actually, Jeralt had a blood transfusion from Rhea and Sitri had the Crest of Flames from Rhea's science stuff. Crest of Flames is Sothis' blood, who is Rhea's mom, but also Rhea is technically Byleth's aunt too? Wtf
*doing math*
Okay.

Her Fire Emblems Heroes dialogue also reveals this isn't the first time she's done this either.
space? I thought she swam the gulf of Mexico to get to Fodlan.
Miner Moleman Her son Macuil did that.

It is not known whether Patricia (Edelgard's mother and Dimitri's Stepmother) was involved in the tradegy of Duscur, it is only known that her body was never found.
Now this could have two reasons:
1) Patricia may have been an Agarthan, like her brother Volkhard (Thales).
Amongst other things she:
Kept Patricia isolated to depend on her.

A great video, but there are a couple of corrections I'd like to make:

I think most of this lore is in Silver Snow since it's fairly new to me (I'm still working on that route lol) but from my plays of Verdant Wind, Azure Moon, and Crimson Flower it's nice to see the route-based plot of the game be packed into a nice little video for my single braincell to understand.
except of the duscur lore, which you learn about in BL
Crimson Flower doesn't really have a lot of lore, while Verdant Wind and Silver Snow are kind of similar, but Silver Snow does have a lot more lore since, you know, Rhea/Seiros knows all of this, and you get to know it in Verdant Wind because Claude likes information
Nah if you played VW, remaining lore is from cindered shadows. Silver snow only contributes one tiny bit of info that wasn’t actually even mentioned in this video
OH MY GOD, THE CREST STONES ARE LITERAL DRAGONSTONES!
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE RIGHT, THIS ACTUALLY BLEW MY MIND
Or Robin sharing Grima's blood despite staying in his human form when he summons him
Am I the only one who didn't guess that from the start
I mean, I can't blame you. That's what all the Greek God's did and all. Luckily, in Fire Emblem, Dragons can just reproduce asexually
@@GeoSage1137 Until you realize the most well know parentage of all the dragons in the current day cast is Flayn canonically having both a father and a mother. In all likelihood, Sothis was unique in her ability to asexually reproduce, her children not sharing that trait.

Some more was translated on message boards. Specfically Dimitri's is the path of the benevolent ruler, while Edelgards is the path of Spremacy. Translated as Supreme Ruler elsewhere I believe
BlackfangDragon could you send a link to that one?
So basically, edelgard waged war based on misguided reasons. What a typical bitch. Dumb dumb
A few things:
The Holy Tomb was/is in Garreg Mach not Zanado.
Pedantic*
I love the taste of irony
This should be pinned tbh
Yes that's correct. The Elites also refused to stop fighting upon Nemesis death so they also didn't help the situation when Seiros hunted them down.
Marianne is living proof of Maurice having kids.
It may have been Sitri's idea, but it was more then convenient for Rhea, considering she had declared Sitri a "failure" in the experiment to resurrect Sothis and needed another body anyway. Everyone always gives Rhea a "goldstar" for this apparent "selfless act", yet fail to see or mention how it played into Rhea's plans and how she abused the saving of Byleth years later, by trying to go through with the ritual/experiment.
this video singlehandedly sent me into an obsession that has lasted 3 years, no joke. so. thanks. lmao.
Me: Pft I have 250+ hours, finished all 4 routes and the dlc, even replaying Golden Deer and Black Eagles, what could I possibly be missing?
Video: Sothis is sorta an alien
Me: eXCuse mE, wHAT
There's a reason she's called the Fell Star
It's vaguely referrenced in the chapter of the ceremony of rebirth of the godess some conversations say that the godess came from a blue star if I remember correctly
1:53 And their names in FE3H from left to right:
The Wind Caller
The Immovable
Seteth
Flayn
Yes.
With Seteth being the Hammer of Judgement and Flayn being the Benevolent One (Three Hopes battle dialogue between them and Sothis)
My therapist: Smug Sothis can't hurt you, she isn't real.
Smug sothis:
A couple nitpicks:
1:02 Zanado wasn't built around the Holy Tomb, Garreg Mach was. Zanado is in the red canyon (the map from chapter 2)
4:07 Jeralt was a soldier in the Kingdom of Faerghus' army when he met Rhea. He didn't become a mercenary until after quitting the Knights of Seiros
Other than missing some of the stuff with the 4 apostles and where they buried Sitri, this is pretty much accurate lol.
At 5:06, "... Edelgard, who now bore the crest of Flames.", that's 100% accurate, but why on earth do you display the crest of Dominic there? xD
that's what they call an "oopsie"
Chase Kip I respect this answer, subscribed
@@sarahluise3153 Sure, but TWSITD did twisted experiments on her. The church are kind of secondary perpetrators here.
Now we need an updated video with the lore that Three Hopes provides us
I really like the way you tell stories, keep up the good work !
Thanks! means a lot
Excellent job on this video! You are extremely talented! Can’t wait to see more content from you!
thank you!
this is a great video! honestly one of, if not, the best video that explains the lore of fe3h
thanks!
One minor error made in this video:
Rhea is her birth name.
Although the epilogue claims she eventually attacks to Slitherers later... off screen
You're wrong, she used them as well to fulfill is dream/path, she hated twsitd, but with them as enemy she could never became emperor
It's nice to have all the lore in one place. Since in the game it's very... spread out.
Disappointingly so. Like, basically none of the lore actually influences what happens in the game proper, it’s mostly just background fluff that would change only a very small fraction of the plot if removed.
5:44 I guess this was made before we knew about Claude being born as Khalid.
That little hellspawn says his name so many times I had to go underground to steal ducktape to silence him, as somehow magic doesn't work
Byleth he is the eldest son of Duke Aegir and he cannot be easily swayed.
from the great noble Aegir family of course

I always thought that before the Nabateans came along, Fodlan was split into various barbaric tribes that constantly warred amongst themselves for dominance, pretty much what was early Europe was like before the Roman Empire fell.
Remember: this is a Nintendo game
@Manek Iridius IS are just former Nintendo employees that started a separate company that is literally inside Nintendo's main building
Well explains the end racism part.
Fire Emblem has always been darker than the average Nintendo game
@@ghirahimlefabuleux8984 pff maybe they should've made actual kirby lore and not tryhard every single game so he is so powerful and God like so people remember him in stuff other than that.
I was hoping to see this, the lore is scattered across all 3 paths and its like how do I keep all this in mind with over 200 hours of gameplay + daily life lol
oh yeah and there’s also little details that complement the lore like storylines of other 40 characters : )
the real question is why the Dark Creator Sword has the crest stones of Noa and Timotheos.
Wizardo101
TWSITD most likely hunted down and killed Noa and Timotheos, stealing their hearts to use for the Dark Creator Sword
And Aymr has the Crest of the Beast.
This does a better job explaining the lore than the entire Crimson Flower route
yeah, duh. there are 4 routes how do you expect one route to give you the full story
4:43 Their faces had me dying.
This channel is an absolute gem! Glad i came upon it!
Japanese lore creation is purely beyond human imagination
This is the most incredible recap in the history of Fire Emblem videos.
People in this universe really half-ass their genocides.
Did they ever bring up the fact that Edelgard had a shortened life span? I know they said it was happening with Lysithea. If you play crimson flower does Edelgard’s and Lysithea’s life span go back to normal?
It's confirmed Edelgard also has it but has it cured afterwards in the shared support end-card for Edelgard and Lysithea
Of course not unless they get the paired endings where their crests are removed.
She likely gets a Free One Up too as Crest of Flames allows someone to come back as a zombie.
@@ChaseKip It's not confirmed, it's only implied that she & Lysethia regained their lost years but it could mean anything at this point, Lysethia in her support said she had only 5 years to live after ts, Edie doesn't confirm or deny her own status, she could've lost years but not to the degree of Lysethia since Edie lives a long life in other endings & not once stated to have died early in any ending.
Duscur is actually the denmark looking thing in Faerghus, Faerghus took it over afte the massacare.
I like how you use Yoshi Island music in the background.
claude is a sigma male because I'm pretty sure in most routes(?) his goal gets fulfilled
he doesn't need byleth, byleth is just a massive help to him
Your style is interesting. It’s a format that’s been done before, but your pace and tone is unique and conversational. I like it.
so basically what i got from this was
"'everyone wants revenge"
the end
Let's be honest: The real reason we clicked the vid is the Smug Hat Kid face Sothis in the thumbnail
Lysithea has her life shortened. I don't think Edlegard did. Edlegard was the "success" of the experiments.
5:06 -"Who now bore the Crest of Flames"
Um, Akctually- The crest that you showed was the Crest of Dominic...
In all good fun, I love this video. Thank you for taking the time to explain this, it really helped when I was first getting into the game.
This is literally the three houses version of bill wurtz
4:17
you made it sound like Sitri wouldn't have died at childbirth if she had kept the heart xD
Nonamemon, that’s the explanation we’re given.
3 Houses has such a crazy amount of lore in it never explained to the player they easily could have made 3 games with all the lore put in this game. I'm kinda hoping we get a sequel or prequel to the three houses story
Whew. Thank you for this. I never quite understood how Byleth and Rhea were related to Sothis, how Sothis was in Byleth’s head, why Byleth didn’t have a heartbeat, and a bunch of other things. Now I’m clear on all of that.
Daniel T, that’s totally understandable. I played Crimson Flower first and so the rest of my playthroughs had me unlearning everything I thought I knew for my first sixty hours with the game.
That was pretty comprehensive, it explains a few details I was missing in the lore 👏
This whole game is just the secret war of the lizard people and the Mole people.
The drawings and animations are all made by yourself? They look so good! Also you did excellent explaining the lore of the game
So basically the story kicks of with multiple genocides
2:43 As they say - History is written by the winners……..
My favorite video of yours! You do such a good job at making something long and convoluted into something fun and interesting! 😁
I loved the slow burn of Fire Emblem, but also like how you made everything so clear with a short video!
Omg this is ridiculously helpful to the epilogue lore.
Rhea is her REAL name, not fake. Seiros is the moniker she adopts after the Massacre at Zanados as a messenger of the Goddess. In the present, nobody knows who Rhea was so she reverts back to her real name without any worry.
When you’ve played all the routes and a lot of this is new to you: 👁👄👁
This explainer is what all players need. It’s not a bad story but it’s hard to piece together in-game. Thank you for the hours you put in for this animation!
Actually explained 10x better than the game lmao, good shit
I love these, you have a great understanding for keeping the video informative, interesting, and flowing forward.
