Oh Yes. I've been supporting SC for nearly 8 years now. Started out as a mouse and keyboard pilot such as yourself. Over the course of time I evolved to dual stick pilot using the T16000m for my left and a Thrustmaster Warthog for my right. Into that 2nd evolution I added head tracking...a must have as well IMHO. And finally my current setup I have a complete Monster Tech mounted system supporting my Virpil Mongoose T50 Throttle, Dual Virpil Alphas Sticks, plus a mounted mouse and mounted keyboard also by Monster Tech. I love it...
I don't need a head tracking system as I use the analog stick located on my T16000M throttle, to move my head around. And I don't need a second flight stick as I use pedals.
Sounds familiar :) Pretty much the same story and setups here (minus the throttle). Together with the 3.10 fixed weapons improvements combat is actually quite fun at the moment.
Your framerates are butter smooth -- I typically get 18fps on my shadow vm :/ I been a joystick user since I started playing SC -- the immersion and physicality of it is what does it for me.
Depending on your setup, that's the hard part. The game is barely optimized, where I have a Ryzen 3600, AMD 5700XT, and 32 gigs of ram. I can get around 40-80 FPS depending where i'm at.
Short answer: yes. Long answer: yeeeeeeeeees. With a joystick my warden seems to loose so much weight. I get faster and more precise turns while using more effectively all the spatial axis (tonneau my beautiful friend)
the heavier the ship the more they help imo. but actually he said mouse and keyboard is still more accurate, but less enjoyable, which lines up with my experience as well.
@@smatchimo55 if we are talking about peep tracking I agree. But considering manoeuvring capabilities there's no match imo. I realized that with a joystick/hotas I can fly way more aggressively and fly really close to enemies
@@marktda I personally would really like to get myself a dual stick setup going but I honestly don't know if I should. For now I'm using my Single T16000M in War Thunder and have to totally agree, just the flying and maneuvers you can pull off are insane while rocking sticks :D
Dude, I love your work, and even though I can’t get the game now, I can’t wait to be a red shirt in your capital ship in the future! See you in the ‘verse!
@@runner9528 In some hairy dogfights or maneuvers I have yanked my sticks off the desk and usually have to end up holding the base between my legs while I scramble to figure out where my axis are, but in general the bases for these sticks are very wide and heavy and they normally stay put very well on their own. I would consider how excitable of a player you are and make a judgement based on that. I may get them in the future, but don't consider them a necessity for myself.
@@doctorsloth2707 Planing to building a chair for SC and i will build a simple mount like this. As you said, these sticks are very wide and heavy and they normally stay put very well on their own. So some more grip to hold them and they will stay in place. Wish me luck :)
I don't have one, but I think a mount will make it easier to get proper angle with arm/wrist to prevent discomfort. My desk works, but I don't think the height is quite right.
I literally just got the exact same setup about a week ago, and I can vouch for all of the advantages Morphologis describes here. If nothing else, the immersion factor alone makes HOTAS/HOSAS completely worth it. It's not cheap but it is so much fun flying in SC with dual sticks. Not an ounce of buyer's remorse here. Great video as always Morph, keep up the great work!
I just started playing this game last night and it’s the coolest game I’ve ever played Edit: if anyone wants to play with a new guy you can add me my username is andromeda69 :)
HavocLoods I love the guide system. I had an experienced played show me around for hours last night. I had an amazing experience. I would’ve been completely lost without that. More games need a community like SC
The timing of this video is impeccable. I made the move to dual sticks, the same T16000's you picked up, last week. I've been loving it and it's been a lot of fun figuring out the best ways to map controls that make sense to me for all the different applications I need (flight, fight, & mining)
I've taken up dual VKB Gladiators and haven't looked back. I've even added to my setup with an SEM attached to the side of my right stick and installed a rudder pedal since getting the sticks. 100% love them.
Honestly thinking of building a pc just to play this. I got to play and really don’t care that it’s not done. It’s the closest and coolest thing to what I think would be everyday space exploration which is something I dreamed of as a kid wildly and vividly. I was absolutely lost in the idea of Sci-Fi. This is my childhood reimagined in one of the best interpretations of a galactic civilization. I just hope they pull it off
I tell most of my friends to hold on and wait for the game some more. It is REALLY ROUGH. But if you are that into Sci-Fi just buy it. There is nothing like star citizen out there at the moment. And find someone to play with. It will be a blast for a while, until the novelty fades away and the slow and frustrating development settles. I also would love to recommend Elite: Dangerous, Everspace, The Outer wilds, No man's sky. Also The Outer worlds and Warframe, if you are into wacky action adventures. Have fun, mate! o7
It's too rough. Waaaaay to rough. Don't get it yet. I formatted my PC yesterday and installed it last night. I've just uninstalled it about 10 minutes ago.
Hippocks I heard that if you have the right build and a great connection (I’m in New York), then it should run smooth with game breaking bugs happening 2-3 times a day if you session the whole day. What do you think about that? Or that’s just someone mouthing off?
@@Bryanmiester everyone's always mouthing off on the Internet... That said, I think that if you only got 3 major crashes throughout the day then you're game must be even more bugged than usual, to last that long. My rig: Ryzen 2700x @4.1Ghz 16Gb 3200Mhz RAM (Team-Group) 8GB GTX 1080 Armour OC 1TB M.2 with Star Citizen only on it, due to my PC format the other day. I'm not exactly running the most powerful PC in the world but it is more than capable. There isn't anything I can't max out, and SC does run smooth-ish. 40 - 60FPS. It's not the frame count that's the issue. It's the lack of working basic game mechanics. These developers are more interested in giving you another ship or a skin for an existing ship or new armour for your char, than they are in getting the core game working. Like I said, the arena commander works flawlessly and never crashes but the PU is just broken. Like truly unplayable kind of broken.
Thanks to this video I just bought the Thrustmaster Dual 16000M Joysticks and all the MonsterTech mounts to go with it. Thanks Morphologis for such a great and well informed video. Glad to be following you for the last few years. Keen to follow you for many more years to come.
I went from one T.16000M, to dual T.16000Ms, to dual Virpil Constellation Deltas, and then I added analog throttle thumbsticks to those. And I'm about 98% done building a set of DIY rudder pedals (though that was mostly for MSFS 2020). Careful, it's a slippery slope :-)
Amazing. I have a logitech Attack 3D as my current joystick. I plugged it back in for the first time since 2015, and I actually felt the wind at MicroTech when I took off, without even having direct force feedback on the joystick. Now it seems as if this video has yielded a hidden gem for me, a setup that I will be able to utilise.
@@hariszark7396 I've been using them for about 4 months. There is a noticable learning curve in switching from mouse+keys but I do enjoy immersion so for me it's worth it. The T16000Ms are "okay". They are entry level, but they are quality enough for you to know whether or not it's something you'll enjoy long term. Personally i'm already getting desk mounts. And I've promised myself that if i'm still loving the stick after 1 year then I'll look at spending the vast amount of money for the Virpil setup.
This! Those chair mounts with swivel looks perfect for Star Citizen since when leaving an airplane you can just swivel away the joysticks and use mouse and keyboard. And i agree, i have kinda stayed away from combat in Star Citizen cause im used to it beeing very confusing and buggy, but in 3.10 i find myself doing nothing else now. I am loving it. And in 3.11 its further improved.
Finally not a screamer going “HEY EVERYONE TODAY WE’RE GONNA TAKE A LOOK AT STAR CITIZEN BUT FIRST TAKE A LOOK AT MY SPONSOR NORD VPN THE CONDOM FOR YOUR PRIVACY!” Good video man! Keep it up!
Hey Morph, thanks for this video! I just went from a gaming cockpit back to a traditional desk setup, and was about to start looking into mounting solutions for the chair I've got coming, and this was exactly what I was wanting to find!
Hey! about the two mice and keyboard issue... I use a program called "Input Director", which lets you move your mouse over to the other computer's screen and the keyboard and mouse will control that instead of your main computer... as if it was just another monitor. I highly recommend it.
I've been looking around at DIY pvc cockpit setups for a couple weeks trying to decide what I'm going to do. That Monstertech mount is the perfect solution. Thanks for featuring it when you didn't have to. You just sold a monstertech mount.
I frankly think that controllers can work really well too. I fly drones IRL, and I found that if I map the controls like a drone then it immediately feels natural. The best part is that you also get gradual vertically lateral thrust movement (something you usually can't get with just a single joystick), adding another dimension onto flight (and more graceful landings)
Yeah I'll probably buy the Xbox elite controller. I need a new gamepad anyways, and the elite Is a good choice for star citizen i think due to the extra buttons. I admire hotas/hosas but i think for precision using my right thumb rather than my whole right hand... Is just Superior, even if by a tiny percentage.
Hey Morph, nice vid as always. Just be aware when sending profiles to friends the profile may not necessarily assign the correct stick to the correct part of the profile. SC uses a simple method for assigning sticks and can often switch them round after unplugging and reconnecting your sticks back in to different ports. On my set-up I have reference to 4 controllers. If this occurs there are some commands which allows you to swap the stick ID's around so that a received profile for a pair of sticks can be reassigned to work on a particular setup. For example in the console (use key next to the number one on the top row UK keyboard) To see what ID's are in use: i_DumpDeviceInformation To change ID's: Change device 3 to 1 and 4 to 2? pp_resortdevices joystick 3 1 pp_resortdevices joystick 4 2
@@Bryanmiester like you have two stations, the gyro chair or just standing, this is true for at least me, but I find I get less motion sick when walking in a game if I stand
I haven't played Star Citizen for a couple of years now, but I do enjoy your work! I've got Monstertech's first efforts - the desk mounted (but you can arrange the height) joystick and throttle mounts. They mount to the front of the desk, and both of mine hang down below the height of the desk at a level that's comfortable for me. They're more solid that the Ikea desks they're mounted on... :) They make good kit and seem to be pretty decent folks as well. The stuff I've seen more recently (3.10/3.11) is starting to make me want to update and get back in the verse...
It has been like this for the Gladius for quite a while. The Gladius is used as bitt as a test ship so it will get all new comming features before the other ships. In the end, all ships will be having things like this.
I haven’t been playing SC for long, but only a few months before getting dual T16000m setup. I can never go back from this. Dual stick just feels so amazing. I have yet to use the Monstertech rig, but I have been looking into it for a while, and is something that will happen. Great video ... 100% agree with your findings.
I'm an old-school flight-simmer who has had joysticks for at least 30 years, and HOTAS sytems for the past decade. I have to agree that the controllers definitely make the experience better, so much so that when I broke my flight pedals last year, I didn't play any SC or flying games until I had a new set. It's one of those things that once you get used to having it, you can't live without it. I literally won't play games that I can't map my controllers to work with... I hope some developers for Ace Combat 7 or GTAV read that. Those are games that I would have played, if I could have played them with my $1500 gaming chair/HOTAS/Steering wheel/Driving pedal/Stick shifter/Flight pedal setup, rather than a $40 Dual Shock. In fact, that being said, I haven't played played SC in a while since they currently only offer config pages for 4 devices, and because I have more than that, SC won't let me address all of them to properly configure my setup. Hope they make every detected device have it's own config page, or at least let me choose which 4 devices I want to setup with the 4 config pages available to me. First-world problem if there ever was one... lol XD
Well you're not alone in those problems, I only have four input devices (HOTAS Warthog+Rudder Pedals+G27) but it already causes trouble with my stick changing controller ID every damn patch. ;) It would be nice to have a controller list file where you could configure it and a more intuitive, more flightsim like axis shaping.
I currently play the game with my Thrustmaster T16000M FCS Flight Pack which includes flight stick + throttle + pedals. The throttle and pedals are seen as one device. So I only use 2 devices, and I don't feel the need for more.
@@LupusAries dude, right! Another reason why I havent invested much time is SC lately... I have to reconfig my whole setup for a half-hour before every time I play. Im over it until its in a better state.

@@Patrick73787 Aah the TFRP? And I guess you plugged the Pedals into the throttle via that RJ-11 cable? I use the same pedals, as when I got the Warthog I was a bit short on money afterwards. The MFG Crosswind looks nice but it was another 300-320 Euros, while the TPR wasn't out yet and the pricing for the TPR is mad! (500 Euros) We're living in strange times when a 300-320 euro set of rudder pedals is the sensible option! ;) Well and the T16000 didn't exist back when I got my Warthog, otherwise I might've looked at it. Also this was back in 2016 when the Saitek drivers were not that reliable....;) Can't say I regretted getting that HOTAS though, the split throttle is awesome for flying P-38s! Also Dual Stage trigger for the win, I don't get why they aren't on more sticks.... The G-27 is just for racing........got it in 2015 I think, when I wasn't sure if I'd keep simracing after getting interested. So I bought a used G27 for 130 Euros, and have modded it a bit since then. (New Potentiometers and new springs with a progressive brake spring.....if only you could mod in a better FFB motor! ;)
After some other videos about Monstertech, I decided to take the plunge.. got sticks and the mounts. And absolutely no regrets. Monstertech is just amazing. Worth every penny. Even went back and got more. Now have two stick mounts, keyboard, mouse mounts, and a throttle mount.
I have been thinking about making myself a full setup just for SE sometime next year and had no idea how I was gonna mount the setup the way I wanted, this is perfect!
Really how is this really a question. There is only one right answer. YES Can’t even bring myself to think about using the sim without a full control setup. Hotas, Rudde. Pedals and track IR is the only way to fly.
I use the Logitech X-56 Rhino RGB setup. The thing I love about this setup the most is that it has two analog thumb sticks, one on joystick and one on the throttle that really enhances space sim flight. It is basically like having a duel stick setup and HOTAS all in one. The thumb sticks give you the ability to put thrusters on one and head movement on the other Plus all the other normal HOTAS controls and I also now use them for FPS movement. I use rotaries for things like mining laser, speed limiter, and zoom. It also has lots of switches which add to the immersion of being like switches and buttons in a cockpit. And YES!...Thanks for mentioning the ability to copy and save your mappings. I had the hardest time reprogramming things after each patch until I found the mappings folder. (Star Citizen>Live>USER>Controls>Mappings) Now I just copy them to a folder on my desktop and paste them back after new patch or USER folder delete. Great Video!
As an IRL pilot, and flight sim enthusiast, I've always played SC with HOTAS. The connection to the ship is really important to me and mouse and keyboard just doesn't make that connection for me. I love the finesse HOTAS allows.
as a fellow pilot (i was the ace pilot of my pillow fort squad as a kid) i just wanted to say thanks for giving us the feedback. ive been really looking forward to hear a pilots opinion
@@ueehurstonsecurity8887 I've been kicking around the idea of trying dual stick for a while. That is how real spacecraft are flown. I'm so accustomed to my stick-rudder-throttle set up, it's tough to try something new knowing I'll have to develop a whole new flying technique. What are you using?
Try out dual Kosmosima from VKB! In my experience they have a similar precision than keyboard-mouse BUT with all the benefits you can get from dual sticks.
love the professional quality of your videos. it is easy to se you have an eye for detail and always know where you are heading with the video. it also makes me feel like if i ever would be in your apartment i would not dare to make a mess or drop something because everything is probably exactly where it suppose to be well thought out haha.
Can't believe you've never used a joystick after all this time, LOL! Welcome to the real SC experience. I'm interested in those MT Chair mounts, I was worried they wouldn't fit on my chair though. Of course I'm not monetized, so I have to buy everything I use in my vids. If you want help with your setup, checkout my Dual Joystick Series and my downloadable configurations.
Ivan TheAdorable I’m pretty sure that The left joystick controls throttle and roll(?) and the right controls.... actually I’m not the best person to be answering this, here are some really good in-depth yt vids on setting Them up and how to play tho
@@teemuleppa3347 So, for me; My right stick controls the direction my ship is pointing and twist for roll. i also keep my weapons and targeting on my right. My left stick controls the actual direction that my ship is traveling, forward/back, left/right, and twist for up/down. Along with a few other flight mechanics like coupling, countermeasures, and afterburners. I find with a dual joysticks setup, I'm much more inclined to dogfight in a "knife fight" type of mentality, lots of strafing side to side or up and down, and rolling, while always keeping the nose of my ship pointed at my enemy.
I know people keep describing the t1600s as an entry level but going from logitech 3ds and x52 to x56s I still went back the t1600s. It has a better sensor and the dose not have that stupid centering action the logitech sticks have. I only Upgraded finally to a virpil setup. But honestly for just joystick feel alone unless you are buying vkp, virpil or similar then the t1600 should be the only consideration
funny i just upgraded to the vbk gunfighter sticks from the T1600 and while it was a big upgrade it didnt give me any tools i didnt already have on those other sticks other than more buttons (and i needed those)
Me too, before SC I was playing Xplane11 and so I already has a joystick. I tried using keyboard and mouse in SC and it felt like when I was playing FS2000 back in 2002.
try the t16000 + mouse combination, i love this setup and can switch instant to fps, the keyboard stays in between so i dont need to keybind everything on buttons i cannot remeber
@@thejulo5623 atm its a bit bugged when you want pitch/jaw/roll on your joystick because the aiming dot will jump in the middle if you dont use freelook with the mouse. but you can also use strafing (wasd) and roll (q/e) on the axis, and bind up down to the direction pad for now
Now you need to get some head tracking!! I have a t.16000m FCS HOTAS set up and just got a trackIR set up last week and WOW!! I can hardly put into words how much having head tracking changes the experience, the increase in immersion was far above the difference going from KbM to HOTAS was. And I would definitely recommended the TrackIR 5 with the Track Clip Pro, super smooth tracking.
@@ProTuner06 whats strange is a lot of small GA aircraft have what is basically a steering wheel with 4 axis of movement. I imagine a stick is easier to actually fly with as well.
@@sgt.gunslinger1532 I prefer a yoke when flying a real plane over a stick. Not sure why tho... in Sims I like a stick more, but in reality I like a yoke more 😅 I think the yoke is much easier for flying
Might I also recommend pedals.. When I added pedals to my dual stick setup, it made everything more enjoyable for me. Not having to twist the sticks made advanced maneuvers easier to pull off. I use them for up/down and roll.
Finally, a good video on whether sticks/HOTAS is better. You still left me thinking and that's not a bad thing. I have a small gaming space(I'm a truck driver). I have been thinking about getting a setup like this and most of my time is spent traveling with a loaded cargo bay. I'm incing closer to getting a HOTAS system, but getting it locked down is the trouble for me. Thanks again for the video and keep up the great content.
The T16000's are good starter sticks especially considering the price. Great for someone who isn't sure about the setup. If it turns out you like it, look at more expensive options. The TM stick just don't have enough buttons at your finger tips without taking your hand off the stick(s) compared to more expensive options. You want to be able to turn and use countermeasures without removing your hand form the stick. They have enough buttons for the bare basics but if you want to add targeting, pinning, missiles, Counter Measures, Coupled/Decoupled toggle, etc you will run out of buttons quick.
Thanks for pointing out that you were following in another ship. One thing the camera views really really need is some sort of slight delay to repositioning the camera behind the ship. (which you using another ship was really great to simulate btw!!!) When it's STUCK to the ship it feels very arcade-like and you dont get the feeling you expect flying through air. I'm hoping CIG is planning some sort of turbulence effect as well because the smaller ships end up feel floaty.
My two T16000 arrived last Friday. Spent the weekend practicing and I was able to get the hang of them after several hours of use. I felt less like a drunk toddler. There's still so much to learn though. I currently have both sticks on my desk but they move too much and I was actually looking at the MonsterTech mounts. They are WAY too expensive for what I want. I ended up finding a cheaper alternative on Amazon, VIVO Black Desk Clamp for $29.99. I won't have the range of motion and QOL from the MonsterTech mounts but my wallet won't be as light either. I will say this. the dual sticks have changed the game for me. All I want to do it fly around in my various. They have brought a level of immersion that I was craving for.
I started with dual sticks (T-16000) couldn't be happier. It's just way more immersive to play with them. Although I do have mine sitting on my tiny desk, so I'm going to need these mounts!
Hey Morphologis, thanks for the awesome video (as always). Just wanted you to know that you're the reason I finally bit the bullet and ordered me some T.16000's. Many thanks for all the awesome content an insights.
BuzzzKillers t.16000 setup is boss. He also has a great printable image with all the button mapping in his drop-box file. Totally worth checking out. I want those Monster Tech Mounts BTW!!! I have the same chair!
I have a HOTAS myself, which I use for Elite and SC (intending on getting a second sick too). Got it about a year ago, and I totally agree with the "connection with your ship" view. For me personally, SC is all about the simulated experience. I get great enjoyment just flying about, doing box runs, trade and the occasional combat. Admittedly I spend less time in dogfights and such and actively avoid PVP so I can't comment too much on the combat side of things. With that said, I feel HOTAS/HOSAS really helps towards the "feel" of actually flying these ships. It just feels cooler than using mouse and keyboard, and once you're used to it, it controls just as good. As mentioned, I really enjoy the simulation side of the game (much like I do in Elite VR) and from that standpoint, HOTAS/HOSAS are immersive as heck lol. Same can be said about a wheel or yoke for ground vehicles. It ain't cheap, but if you get great enjoyment out of it's worthwhile for sure. Also, just for fun I like to try and use HOTAS in games that you really wouldn't play with one (on foot fps games for example, or RTS) It's awful but great laughs to be had there haha
I found joysticks to actually be more precise, since you can move your ship along a target, not only point the nose of your ship on it. You can also circle around a target changing all three angles all the timr, giving em nearly no chance to fire at you since their target computer can't predict your movements.
bin flying for a long time now with the duel t16000 first thing what i did to them when out of the box was cutting the cable to turn of the light and put carbon tape on the orange part around the bottem stick. Love the T16000's
I played with mouse and keyboard back in days before the persistent universe in Arena Commander. But joysticks really take it to an all new level, I had a friend give me an older set of X55, used them for a couple years, then upgraded to Warthog HOTAS. I don't think I could ever go back to mouse and keyboard, those sticks are so real that if they ever get VR in the game, you'll feel like you really are in the ship.
I have the exact same setup. Only one is the green light version which is just an older model. I have to apply a slight deadzone to that one now after 8 years of abuse, the orange one though is at 3 years with no deadzone needed yet... which is baffling to me, I was expecting a little needed and I don't ever mind it. Flying is beautiful with sticks, things just feel way more natural and fluid. I can perform maneuvers with more of a physical feel for them. For me the most thrilling thing is flying as fast as absolutely possible with no flight assists at all. Even in Elite Dangerous my favourite ships was either the Imperial Eagle with full speed upgrades or a Vulture stripped down to basically a tin can.
I got a lexip mouse from the kickstarter. Seems like the best of both worlds. I have two joysticks on my mouse, though I just use the thumbstick. I use it for pitch up and down as well as roll. Works really well. I use my left hand for thrust vectoring only and my right hand for everything else. Having the analog roll and pitch really does make a difference.
love how those holders are an arm and a leg from the company. i went to amazon, bought 2 officer arm chairs with clamps for 5 quid each, ripped the leather and foam off and velcroed my hotas to it. can unclamp it when i dont want it on the chair. p.s. also get rudder pedals its so much cooler
One other option that used to be (might still be) popular is using a stick and mouse. You get the accuracy of the mouse controlling pitch and yaw and overcome the issue with the binary keyboard inputs by using a left handed stick for thrusters. Personally I use dual stick with a T16000, Warthog, pedals and TrackIR but that's mainly cause I have only flown with sticks for years.
Joysticks for flight are a game changer and I love them but I hardly use my dual joysticks because I don't have anything to mount or fix them down with - thanks so much for posting this video because it reminds me of how much I love using dual sticks and it makes me wanna find a solution instead of just never going back to them because of the annoyance
Thank you for Showing that's exactly what I searched for! At the moment my desk is full and to small with keyboard, mouse, the Throttle and the stick on it. Now I just need to save some Money 👍🏻
@@oMaGicKsv Can't remember. I was quite small at the time. But it definately wasn't a recent design. But most if not all modern Jet powered fighter aircraft use 2 sticks. You normally don't use the pedals much.
Running a pair of T16ks for the last few months myself. Absolutely love it. Probably moving up to a pair of VKBs by the end of they year (if they are ever in stock). Very hard to go back to KB/m
Flying dual stick in decoupled mode is amazing. I can’t say much about budget sticks other than that for general flight they are just fine. But I have a virpil alpha as my main stick, it controls rotation, because of how good it is I can run 0 deadzone with no drift when I let go of the stick, and my accuracy in dogfighting is way up from keyboard a mouse. Just for general flying it feels so much better than keyboard and mous, and even hotas (I do use a slider for cruise control when I am trying to exit atmosphere), it is way more natural and it feels how flight is supposed to be as in decoupled mode you are directly controlling the thrust rather than controlling how fast and in which direction you want the ship to move, and dual stick gives you full precision control over the thrusters. And it the movement of the ship is much more natural and way more fluid. It doesn’t matter if I am flying heavys in space or atmo or light fighters, dual stick + decoupled mode is the way to go.
I subbed just because you annihilated me with your dual stick setup in-game.

Would you get the mounts?
@@urduib by default the sticks have holes designed for screwing them down to a mount.
I just started playing this game last night and it’s the coolest game I’ve ever played

The timing of this video is impeccable. I made the move to dual sticks, the same T16000's you picked up, last week. I've been loving it and it's been a lot of fun figuring out the best ways to map controls that make sense to me for all the different applications I need (flight, fight, & mining)
Yeah, when I got my dual T16000M sticks my entire flying style/ability changed. I can't imagine flying without them now.
Have fun, mate! o7

I heard that if you have the right build and a great connection (I’m in New York), then it should run smooth with game breaking bugs happening 2-3 times a day if you session the whole day.
What do you think about that?
Or that’s just someone mouthing off?
@@Bryanmiester everyone's always mouthing off on the Internet... That said, I think that if you only got 3 major crashes throughout the day then you're game must be even more bugged than usual, to last that long.
My rig:
Ryzen 2700x @4.1Ghz
16Gb 3200Mhz RAM (Team-Group)
8GB GTX 1080 Armour OC
1TB M.2 with Star Citizen only on it, due to my PC format the other day.
Weird coincidence. I'm using twin T16000Ms at the moment. And literally yesterday evening I ordered a Monstertech mount. Today I see this new video.
How long do you use them?
@@hariszark7396 I've been using them for about 4 months. There is a noticable learning curve in switching from mouse+keys but I do enjoy immersion so for me it's worth it. The T16000Ms are "okay".

Synergy is great for that too. Also features copy paste etc. between two computers.
Excellent video. Nice to see a modern take on the flight stick set up for SC. We just had that discussion in my org. Will be sharing this video.
For example in the console (use key next to the number one on the top row UK keyboard)
To see what ID's are in use: i_DumpDeviceInformation
To change ID's:

I haven't played Star Citizen for a couple of years now, but I do enjoy your work!
I've got Monstertech's first efforts - the desk mounted (but you can arrange the height) joystick and throttle mounts. They mount to the front of the desk, and both of mine hang down below the height of the desk at a level that's comfortable for me. They're more solid that the Ikea desks they're mounted on... :)
They make good kit and seem to be pretty decent folks as well.
The stuff I've seen more recently (3.10/3.11) is starting to make me want to update and get back in the verse...
Wait a minute, stop stop stop. Since when does the actor animate pushing buttons in the cockpit?!
It's only with the Gladius as far as I know. It's the main ship you fly in SQ42, so it's a bit further ahead animation wise.
Had the same question....
It has been like this for the Gladius for quite a while. The Gladius is used as bitt as a test ship so it will get all new comming features before the other ships. In the end, all ships will be having things like this.
Gladius cockpit animations have been like this for a while. It's also the first fighter that will receive racks to store weapons.
@@Patrick73787 the racks are in game as of 3.10 i believe
First-world problem if there ever was one... lol XD
Well you're not alone in those problems, I only have four input devices (HOTAS Warthog+Rudder Pedals+G27) but it already causes trouble with my stick changing controller ID every damn patch. ;)
It would be nice to have a controller list file where you could configure it and a more intuitive, more flightsim like axis shaping.

Well and the T16000 didn't exist back when I got my Warthog, otherwise I might've looked at it. Also this was back in 2016 when the Saitek drivers were not that reliable....;)
Can't say I regretted getting that HOTAS though, the split throttle is awesome for flying P-38s!
Also Dual Stage trigger for the win, I don't get why they aren't on more sticks....
The G-27 is just for racing........got it in 2015 I think, when I wasn't sure if I'd keep simracing after getting interested. I have been thinking about making myself a full setup just for SE sometime next year and had no idea how I was gonna mount the setup the way I wanted, this is perfect!
Really how is this really a question.
There is only one right answer. YES
Can’t even bring myself to think about using the sim without a full control setup.
Hotas, Rudde. Pedals and track IR is the only way to fly.
Yes.

I haven't watched the whole video yes, but as someone who plays with dual joysticks, the answer is a resounding "yes."
stupid question but how does dual joystick setup work... i have joystick and throttle? what's the function of second joystick?
Ivan TheAdorable I’m pretty sure that The left joystick controls throttle and roll(?) and the right controls.... actually I’m not the best person to be answering this, here are some really good in-depth yt vids on setting Them up and how to play tho
@@teemuleppa3347 /
@@teemuleppa3347 So, for me;
My right stick controls the direction my ship is pointing and twist for roll. i also keep my weapons and targeting on my right.
I use a T16000M FCS Flight Pack which includes flight stick + throttle + pedals. I have no need for a 2nd joystick as I use pedals.
I was just looking a few days ago if you had made any video about joysticks, and voila, nice video!
I know people keep describing the t1600s as an entry level but going from logitech 3ds and x52 to x56s I still went back the t1600s. It has a better sensor and the dose not have that stupid centering action the logitech sticks have. I only Upgraded finally to a virpil setup. But honestly for just joystick feel alone unless you are buying vkp, virpil or similar then the t1600 should be the only consideration
funny i just upgraded to the vbk gunfighter sticks from the T1600 and while it was a big upgrade it didnt give me any tools i didnt already have on those other sticks other than more buttons (and i needed those)
I have gone through three of joystick setups since I backed in 2013, the first being as soon as Arena Commader hit. It really helps the experience.
I myself play with a T16000 and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and there is no way I will come back to flying ships with keyboard and mouse.
Exactly!
@@do_minguez i need to try that, what do you have binded on the joystick?
Is that because it looks like no walking in space ships with the next expansion?
@@tilemacro thats a vocal minority. I and all my friends from Elite are big fans of both games
Might I also recommend pedals.. When I added pedals to my dual stick setup, it made everything more enjoyable for me. Not having to twist the sticks made advanced maneuvers easier to pull off. I use them for up/down and roll.
Everybody is switching to sticks, meanwhile my hotas is collecting dust. I need to break it out.
Neat! I built my own mounts for Aeron chairs out of articulating VESA pole mounts. But they don't swivel out of the way. Nice feature to have.

Thank You for the in depth description and explanation.
No problem, really glad it helped you out!
whoa! I just realized this video is 21:9
really love your content!
OMG, you just potentially saved me dozens of hours of my life. I didn't know we could export our joystick configs yet!
"taking there load for example..." ok i know im immature but you kinda did that one for me
I just checked the website out, Those sticks and mounts look unreal! I'd love to have something like that one day, the quality looks great.
The T1600 was absolutely awesome for Elite, I'm glad to hear it'll be useful here too
My two T16000 arrived last Friday.
Even if I'm not interested in the topic, I always watch your videos because of the effort you put into making them enjoyable
Hey Morphologis, thanks for the awesome video (as always). Just wanted you to know that you're the reason I finally bit the bullet and ordered me some T.16000's. Many thanks for all the awesome content an insights.
Literally just got a HOTAS last week and it has totally changed the game for me
Just bought the game today, was checking to see if getting a joystick was worth. Thanks for the great video, was satisfying just watching them in use.
Omg yes! I got a hosas virpil set up and I'm loving the game so very much more.!!
IM happy about your transparancy! I would have no issue purchasing from the company who sent you those now!
Wish I had a job right now. would love to have a setup like yours.
Been watching you for a while Morph, subbed because you are now a part of the HOTAS master race. Awesome Video.
love how those holders are an arm and a leg from the company.
i went to amazon, bought 2 officer arm chairs with clamps for 5 quid each, ripped the leather and foam off and velcroed my hotas to it.
can unclamp it when i dont want it on the chair.
p.s. also get rudder pedals
its so much cooler
One other option that used to be (might still be) popular is using a stick and mouse. You get the accuracy of the mouse controlling pitch and yaw and overcome the issue with the binary keyboard inputs by using a left handed stick for thrusters. Personally I use dual stick with a T16000, Warthog, pedals and TrackIR but that's mainly cause I have only flown with sticks for years.
I really want to get a setup like that in the future. Accuracy schmaccuracy, I just want the immersion I imagine it brings 🤤
I am a HOTAS pilot and I love it. I come from DCS and other flight sims. It is natural feeling.
That actually looks like a pretty cool set up! Looks like a good Quality mount.
Thank you for Showing that's exactly what I searched for!
At the moment my desk is full and to small with keyboard, mouse, the Throttle and the stick on it.
Now I just need to save some Money
👍🏻
The two stick set up reminds me of the time that flew in a simulator that used a real cockpit at a military airshow.
Prettt cool, What plane uses two sticks? Or was it just there
@@oMaGicKsv Can't remember. I was quite small at the time. But it definately wasn't a recent design. But most if not all modern Jet powered fighter aircraft use 2 sticks. You normally don't use the pedals much.
@@stephanstofberg8643 ah that's awesome!
Running a pair of T16ks for the last few months myself. Absolutely love it. Probably moving up to a pair of VKBs by the end of they year (if they are ever in stock). Very hard to go back to KB/m
Definitely going to buy some mounts once I decide which chair I’m getting.
